Chemically synthesized near-infrared to mid-infrared(IR)colloidal quantum dots(QDs)offer a promising platform for the realization of devices including emitters,detectors,security,and sensor ***,at longer wavelengths,the quantum yield of such QDs decreases as the radiative emission rate drops following Fermi’s golden rule,while non-radiative recombination channels compete with light *** over the radiative and non-radiative channels of the IR-emitting QDs is crucially important to improve the performance of IR-range ***,we demonstrate strong enhancement of the spontaneous emission rate of near-to mid-IR HgTe QDs coupled to periodically arranged plasmonic nanoantennas,in the form of nanobumps,produced on the surface of glasssupported Au films via ablation-free direct femtosecond laser *** enhancement is achieved by simultaneous radiative coupling of the emission that spectrally matches the first-order lattice resonance of the arrays,as well as more efficient photoluminescence excitation provided by coupling of the pump radiation to the local surface plasmon resonances of the isolated ***,coupling of the HgTe QDs to the lattice plasmons reduces the influence of non-radiative decay losses mediated by the formation of polarons formed between QD surface-trapped carriers and the IR absorption bands of dodecanethiol used as a ligand on the QDs,allowing us to improve the shape of the emission spectrum through a reduction in the spectral dip related to this ligand *** the ease of the chemical synthesis and processing of the HgTe QDs combined with the scalability of the direct laser fabrication of nanoantennas with tailored plasmonic responses,our results provide an important step towards the design of IR-range devices for various applications.

The comparative study of technogenic ^(90)Sr behavior features in Crimea lakes’ ecosystems with different levels of salinity was carried out in *** sources of ^(90)Sr input were identified for all the studied lakes:the primary source concerned with atmospheric fallout immediately after the Chernobyl nPP accident and the secondary long-term input of this radionuclide by *** half-life of the ^(90)Sr concentration in the water of the hypers aline Lake Sasyk-Sivash was estimated to vary from 0.8 to 1.1 years after the closure of the north Crimean Canal(nCC).Biogeochemical processes in the lake under the absence of the secondary source of the radionuclide input were shown to decrease in the ^(90)Sr residence time in the water column by 131 *** brackish water bodies,a significant factor influencing the radionuclide concentration in ecosystems of lakes was the pH of their water,while for hypers aline lakes the level of water salinity was the main factor determining ^(90)Sr *** concentration of ^(90)Sr in bottom sediments of studied lakes depended mainly on this radionuclide concentration in a water *** ^(90)Sr distribution factors(Kd) for studied lakes’ bottom sediments varied in a range of n·10^(0)÷n·10^(2) for hypersaline lakes and of n·10^(1)÷n·10^(2) for lakes with brackish *** to the closure of the nCC,the ^(90)Sr redistribution took place in lake ecosystems only under the geochemical processes within the water bodies *** results obtained in this work are of particular importance as a starting point or a basis for further radioecological studies of the Crimean inland waters after the reopening of the nCC and the Dnieper waters re-entering the territory of Crimea in 2022after the 8 years of their absence.

Electrochemical synthesis of boron-containing coatings on Mg alloy for thermal neutron shielding

The work provides the results of the one-step formation of boron-containing coatings on an Mg–Mn–Ce alloy by plasma electrolytic oxidation. The results of studies of the composition, structure and morphology of heteroxide coatings are presented. It was established that the boron is contained in the coating mainly in the form of B or B_(2)O_(3). The introduction of B changes the color of coatings, and also helps to increase their porosity. The method of determining the full cross section of the interaction of thermal neutron absorption efficiency by samples material using the installation of neutron-activation analysis based on ^(252)Cf was developed. It was shown that the introduction of boron into the formed coatings allows to increase the macroscopic cross-section of the interaction of samples with thermal neutrons by 3.8 times. This effect opens the potential for the use of synthesized material in the field of nuclear technologies and aerospace industry.

Present study reports the PGE-geochemistry of mantle peridotites and nd-isotope geochemistry of arc related mafic rocks from the Indus Suture Zone(ISZ),western *** total PGE concentration of the Shergol and Suru valley peridotites(∑PGE=96-180 ppb)is much higher than that of the primitive mantle and global ophiolitic mantle *** studied peridotites show concave upward PGE-distribution patterns with higher palladium-group PGE/Iridium-group PGE ratios(i.e.,0.8-2.9)suggesting that the partial melting is not the sole factor responsible for the evolution of these *** observed PGE-distribution patterns are distinct from residual/refractory mantle peridotites,which have concave downward or flat PGE-distribution *** enrichment of palladium-group PGE as well as other whole-rock incompatible elements(e.g.,LILE and LREE)and higher Pd/Ir ratio(1.1-5.9)reflects that these peridotites have experienced fluid/melt interaction in a supra-subduction zone(SSZ)tectonic ***,the Shergol mafic intrusives and Dras mafic volcanics,associated with the studied peridotites,have high^(143)nd/^(144)nd ratios(i.e.,0.512908-0.513078 and 0.512901-0.512977,respectively)and positiveε_(nd)(t)(calculated for t=140 Ma)values(i.e.,+5.3 to+8.6 and+5.1 to+6.6,respectively),indicating derivation from depleted mantle sources within an intra-oceanic arc setting,similar to Spongtang and nidar ophiolites from other parts of Ladakh *** transition from SSZ-type Shergol and Suru valley peridotites to Early Cretaceous tholeiitic Shergol mafic intrusives followed by tholeiitic to calc-alkaline Dras mafic volcanics within the neo-Tethys Ocean exhibit characteristics of subduction initiation mechanism analogous to the Izu-Bonin-Mariana arc system within western Pacific.

Smart composite antibacterial coatings with active corrosion protection of magnesium alloys

A new method of the formation of composite coatings with the function of active corrosion protection of magnesium alloys was developed using the plasma electrolytic oxidation(PEO) method. Susceptibility of PEO-layers to pitting formation was evaluated using localized electrochemical methods(SvET/SIET). The morphological features and electrochemical properties of composite coatings were studied using SEM/EDX, XRD, micro-Raman spectroscopy and EIS/PDP measurements, respectively. The effect of surface layers impregnation with corrosion inhibitor on their protective properties in a corrosive environment was established. Additional protection was achieved using controllable coating pore sealing with polymer. It was found that the polymer treatment of the PEO-layer does not reduce the inhibitor’s efficiency. The formed protective composite inhibitor-and-polymer-containing layers decrease the corrosion current density of a magnesium alloy in a 3 wt.% na Cl solution to three orders of magnitude. This predetermines the prospect of new smart coatings formation that significantly expand the field of application of electrochemically active materials. The mechanism of smart composite coating corrosion degradation was established. The antibacterial activity of the inhibitor-containing coatings against S. aureus methicillin-resistant strain was proved using the in vitro model. These protective layers are promising for reducing the incidence of implant-associated infections.

The prospects for expanding the mineral resource base in many countries are linked with the exploration of stranded sites localized at unexplored areas with complex natural and landscape conditions that make any ground survey,including magnetic prospecting,difficult and *** current level of geology requires high-precision and large-scale data at the first stages of geological *** 2012,technologies of aeromagnetic surveying with unmanned aircraft vehicles(UAv)enter the market,but most of them are based on big fixed-wing UAv and do not allow to substantially increase the level of survey granularity compared with traditional aerial *** increase the scale of survey,it is necessary to reduce the altitude and speed of flight,for which the authors develop the methodical and technical solutions described in this *** obtain data at altitudes of 5 m above the terrain even in a rugged relief,we created heavy multirotor UAvs that are stable in flight and may be used in a wide range of environmental conditions(even a moderate snowfall),and develop a special software to generate flight missions on the basis of digital elevation models.A UAv has special design to reduce magnetic interference of the flight platform;the magnetic sensor is hung below the *** technology was conducted in a considerable amount of magnetic surveys in the mountainous regions of East Siberia between 2014 and *** results of the comparison between airborne and ground surveys are presented,which show that the sensitivity of the developed system in conjunction with low-altitude measurements can cover any geologically significant anomalies of the magnetic *** unmanned survey is cheaper and more productive;the multirotor-based technologies may largely replace traditional ground magnetic exploration in scales of 1:10,000−1:1000.

Polycrystalline diamond（PCD） films 100 mm in diameter are grown by 915 MHz microwave plasma chemical vapor deposition（MPCvD） at different process parameters,and their thermal conductivity（TC） is evaluated by a laser flash technique（LFT） in the temperature range of230-380 *** phase purity and quality of the films are assessed by micro-Raman spectroscopy based on the diamond Raman peak width and the amorphous carbon（a-C） presence in the *** and increasing dependencies for TC with temperature are found for high and low quality samples,***,as high as 1950 ± 230 W m-1 K-1 at room temperature,is measured for the most perfect material.A linear correlation between the TC at room temperature and the fraction of the diamond component in the Raman spectrum for the films is established.

A new method to test rock abrasiveness is proposed based upon the dependence of rock abrasiveness on their structural and physico-mechanical properties. The article describes the procedure of presentation of properties that govern rock abrasiveness on a canonical scale by dimensionless components, and the integrated estimation of the properties by a generalized index. The obtained results are compared with the known classifications of rock abrasiveness.
