Effect of Algae on Melon(Cucumis melo *** ***)Growth and Development under Drought-Stress Conditions

Due to climate change,it is necessary to develop plant varieties that are resilient to climate conditions and resistant to abiotic and biotic *** use of microalgae,which are microorganisms that contain carbohydrates,proteins,lipids,and vitamins,against drought tolerance is a new *** aim of the current study was to determine the drought-related mechanisms in the conomon melon genotype and develop drought-tolerant melon ***,physiological,pomological,and molecular analyses were carried out on the algae-treated *** has been determined that commercial algae application provides the best results in leaf temperature,leaf relative water contents(LRWC),plant height,fruit length,fruit diameter,and yield,while Cag Cag(a special river in the region)stream algae application gives better results in main stem *** was determined that the number of nodes in the control(without algae)plots was higher than in the other two *** and LRWC and plant height values of genotype 7 were the best values among other *** leaf temperature measurement was lower on genotype 9 than on the other *** the highest fruit length value was measured in genotype 1,genotype 8 was superior in the main stem diameter,fruit diameter,and the number of nodes among the remaining plant *** terms of yield,it was determined that the interaction between genotype 2 and the commercial algae resulted in the best *** addition,the results of the genetic evaluation revealed that the materials used were not genetically distant from each other and more detailed genetic evaluations are *** molecular kinship analysis revealed that the genotypes used in the study were divided into three distinct groups,with individuals within each group exhibiting a high degree of relatedness to one *** a result of the study,it was found that the application of microalgae had significant effects on improving the drought tolerance

The propagation characteristics of elasto-thermodiffusive Lamb waves in a homogenous isotropic,thermodiffusive,elastic plate have been investigated in the context of linear theory of generalized *** developing the formal solution of the mathematical model consisting of partial differential equations,the secular equations have been derived by using relevant boundary conditions prevailing at the surfaces of the plate for symmetric and asymmetric wave modes in completely separate *** secular equations for long wavelength and short wavelength waves have also been deduced and *** amplitudes of displacement components,temperature change and mass concentration under the Lamb wave propagation conditions have also been *** complex transcendental secular equations have been solved by using a hybrid numerical technique consisting of irreducible Cardano method along with function iteration technique after splitting these in a system of real transcendental *** numerically simulated results in respect of phase velocity,attenuation coefficient,specific loss factor and relative frequency shift of thermoelastic diffusive waves have been presented graphically in the case of brass material.

Effects of site preparation methods on soil physical properties and outplanting success of coniferous seedlings in boreal forests

This study assessed the effect of patch scarification and mounding on the physical properties of the root layer and the success of tree planting in various types of *** study was conducted on 12 forest sites in taiga forests of the European part of Russia.A total of 54 plots were set up to assess seedling survival;root collar diameter,height,and heigh increment were measured for 240 seedlings to assess *** the rooting layer,240 soil samples were taken to determine physical *** study showed that soil treatment methods had no effect on bulk density and total porosity in Cladina ***,reduced soil moisture was noted,particularly in mounds,resulting in increased *** Myrtillus sites,there were increased bulk density,reduced soil moisture,and total porosity in the *** treatment in polytrichum sites resulted in reduced soil moisture and increased aeration *** the Myrtillus and polytrichum sites,patch scarification had no effects on physical *** polytrichum sites,survival rates,heights,and heigh increments of bareroot norway spruce seedlings in mounds were higher than in patches;however,the same did not apply to *** Cladina and Myrtillus sites,there was no difference in growth for bareroot and containerised seedlings with different soil *** conditions and soil types should be considered when applying different soil treatment methods to ensure high survival rates and successful seedling growth.

Adding alloying elements to improve the performances or the manufacturing processes of Al-Mg-Si alloys has long been a serious issue in developing advanced automotive aluminum *** Zn element,among those promising ones,has demonstrated positive alloying effects on Al-Mg-Si ***,the atomic-scale roles of Zn in an age-hardened Al-Mg-Si-Zn alloy have not been adequately *** atomic-resolution electron microscopy,here we report the precise locations of Zn elements in all hardening precipitates involved and their alloying mechanism at the atomic scale when alloying the *** results show that Zn atoms enter all the major hardening phases to occupy specific featured atomic sites of the original elements,*** Si1 and Mg2 sites in theβ’-2 phase,and modify their crystal structures,interfacial structures and morphologies in characteristic *** is revealed that for theβ’-phase,Zn atoms occupy unique atomic sites,whereas for other phases,they demonstrate similar behaviors as other additive alloying elements such as Ag and Cu do.

Molecular characterization of sandflies and Leishmania detection in main vector of zoonotic cutaneous leishmaniasis in Abarkouh district of Yazd province,Iran

Ohjective:To assess molecular characterization,distribution,seasonal activities of sandfly species and Leishmania parasites infecting them for this zoonotic cutaneous leishmaniasis ***:The collections were carried out in 2009-2011 using CDC traps,Sticky papers and manual aspirator in and around the villages in Abarkouh *** sandflies were characterized by pCR amplification and sequencing of fragments of their mitochondrial cytochrome b *** parasite infections within sandflies were performed by targeting Cyt b,ITS-rDnA,k-DnA and microsatellite ***:The pCR assays detected only Leishmania major(***).All infections(30)were found in the abundant and widespread vector phlebolomus papalasi(***).Small numbers of other sandfly species were also screened for infections,but none was *** sinloni and *** were the predominant members in all locations of this district and in all habitats throughout the trapping *** five other sandfly species were found,namely phlebolomus ansari,phlebotomus caucasicus,phlebotomus sergenti,Sergentomyia dentata and Sergentomyia ***:In the current survey,the only infections detected are of *** in females of ***(30 out of190).The rates of infection of *** by *** are not significantly different in compare with other locations in Iran with no diversity of parasite *** cutaneous leishmaniasis may have emerged only recently in Abarkouh district,and the reason may well be the instability of the transmission cycles there.

Arid climates are characterized by a summer drought period to which animals seem ***,in some years,the drought can extend for unusually longer *** the effects of these current extreme weather events on biodiversity can help to understand the effects of climate change,as models predict an increase in drought ***,we examined the effects of“unusual”extended drought on soil invertebrate prey availability and on diet composition(based on fecal contents)and diet selection of a fossorial amphisbaenian,the checkerboard worm lizard Trogonophis *** data show interannual variations in summer drought *** abundance and diversity of soil invertebrates in spring were high,and similar to those found in a“normal”early autumn,after some rain had ended with the summer *** contrast,in years with“unusual”extended drought,abundance,and diversity of soil invertebrates in early autumn were very ***,there were seasonal changes in amphisbaenians’diet;in autumn with drought,prey diversity,and niche breadth decreased with respect to spring and autumns after some rain had *** did not eat prey at random in any season,but made some changes in prey selection that may result from drought-related restrictions in prey ***,in spite that amphisbaenians showed some feeding flexibility,their body condition was lower in autumn than in spring,and much lower in autumn with *** extended drought became the norm in the future,amphisbaenians might suffer important negative effects for their health state.

Hydro-hypsometric analysis of tropical river basins,Southwest Coast of India using geospatial technology

The key aspect in planning and management of water resources is to analyze the runoff potential and erosion status of the river *** the detailed investigation of hydrological response freely available Cartosat-1(IRS-p5) data was used for the preparation of digital elevation model(DEM).The runoff potential and type of erosive process of 22 river basins originating in the global biodiversity hotspot of Western Ghats,was inferred through hypsometric *** parameters like Hypsometric integral(HI),maximum concavity(Eh),coordinates of slope inflection point(I) given by a* and h* and normalized height of hypsometric curve(h) were extracted from the hypsometric curves and used for understanding the hydrological *** the hypsometric curves,the landform evolution processes were *** of diffusive and fluvial processes in slope degradation of the river basins was *** with lesser area(nd to have a positive correlation between hypsometric integral and basin area,whereas for large basins no such correlation *** on the study,river basins can be prioritized for the appropriate conservation measures.

Response of Coastal Groundwater Table to Offshore Storms

Large groundwater table fluctuations were observed in a coastal aquifer during an offshore storm. The storm induced significant changes of the mean shoreline elevation, characterized by a pulse like oscillation. This pulse propagated in the aquifer, resulting in the water table fluctuations. A general analytical solution is derived to quantify this new mechanism of water table fluctuation. The solution is applied to field observations and is found to be able to predict reasonably well the observed storm induced water table fluctuations. Based on the analytical solution, the damping characteristics and phase shift of the oscillation as it propagates inland are examined.

The as-cast Mg-3Zn-0.4Ca alloy shows a great potential to be used in biomedical applications due to its composition,mechanical properties and *** and Ca appear naturally in the organism accomplishing vital *** alloy consists of an a-Mg matrix and a eutectic composed of *** eutectic product enhances the mechanical properties of the studied alloy,causing strengthening and providing superior hardness *** this alloy,cracks initiate at the intermetallic compounds and progress through the matrix because of the open network formed by the *** to the corrosion results,the eutectic product presents a noble potential compared to the a-Mg *** this reason,the corrosion progresses preferentially through the matrix,avoiding the(α-Mg+Ca2Mg6Zri3)eutectic product,when the alloy is in direct contact to Hank's solution.

The crystal structure and magnetic properties of YCo5 compound have been studied by neutron diffraction,in the pressure range 0≤p≤7.2 *** cobalt moments decrease with pressure,parallelly with anisotropic changes of lattice *** experimental data are analyzed together with results from the combined Density Functional and Dynamical Mean-Field Theory.A rather good agreement between the experimentally determined and calculated values of cobalt moments is *** scenario for the behavior of YCo5 under pressure,is the combined action of the Lifshitz transition with a strong local electron-electron interaction.
