Accuracy of tree mapping based on.h.nd-held laser scanning comparing leaf-on and leaf-off conditions in mixed forests

The use of mobile laser scanning to survey forest ecosystems is a promising,scalable technology to describe forest 3D structures at high *** confirm the con-sistency in the retrieval of forest structural parameters using hand-held laser scanning(hLS),before operationalizing the method,confirming the data is *** analyzed the per-formance of tree-level mapping based on.h.S under differ-ent phenology conditions on a mixed forest in western Spain comprising Pinus pinaster and two deciduous species,Alnus glutinosa and Quercus *** area was surveyed twice during the growing season(July 2022)and once in the deciduous season(February 2022)using several scan-ning *** reference data(418 trees,15 snags)was used to calibrate the hLS data and to assess the influence of phenology when converting 3D data into tree-level attrib-utes(DBh,height and volume).The hLS-based workflow was robust at isolating tree positions and recognizing stems despite changes in ***-six percent of all pairs matched below 65 *** DBh,phenology barely altered *** observed a strong agreement when comparing hLS-based tree height *** values exceeded 2 m when comparing height measurements,confirming height data should be carefully used as reference in remote sensing-based inventories,especially for deciduous *** volume was more precise for pines(r=0.95,and rela-tive RMSE=21.3–23.8%)compared to deciduous species(r=0.91–0.96,and relative RMSE=27.3–30.5%).hLS data and the forest structural complexity tool performed remark-ably,especially in tree positioning considering mixed forests and mixed phenology conditions.

Enhanced termination of zinc and cadmium ions from wastewater employing plain and chitosan-modified mxenes: syn.h.sis, characterization,and adsorption performance

Zinc and cadmium pollutants cause a significant environmental effect that cannot be ignored. Due to their considerable amount in an aqueous environment, industries are seeking suitable adsorbents that are environmentally friendly and inexpensive for removing metals from wastewater before disposing of them in surface waters. This research employed original MXene(MX) and chitosan-modified MXene(CSMX) to extract zinc(Zn(Ⅱ)) and cadmium(Cd(Ⅱ)) metal ions from water-based solutions. The composite material produced was analyzed using techniques such as X-ray Diffraction(XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy(FTIR), and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller(BET). The effects of contact duration, p h of the solution, and initial concentration of metal ions on the adsorption process of Zn(Ⅱ) and Cd(Ⅱ) onto both MX and CSMX composites were investigated. MX and prepared CSMX composite presented a high adsorption capacity for both studied heavy metals, which were 91.55 and 73.82 mg/g for Zn(Ⅱ) and Cd(Ⅱ) onto MX, 106.84 and 93.07 mg/g for Cd(Ⅱ) and Zn(Ⅱ) onto CSMX composite, respectively. Furthermore, the maximum competitive adsorption capacities for Zn(Ⅱ) onto MX and CSMX composites are 77.29 and 93.47 mg/g, and for are Cd(Ⅱ)60.30 and 79.66 mg/g, respectively. hence, the removal capacities for both single and competitive metal ions were superior to CSMX composite. however, the adsorption capacities after five successive regeneration sequences were only dropped by 13.2% for Zn(Ⅱ) and 17.4% for Cd(Ⅱ) onto the CSMX composite compared to the first cycle. These results confirm that both metals could be efficiently terminated from wastewater, which makes the prepared CSMX composite a favorable candidate adsorbent in practical applications.

The main aims of the current study are to determine the morphological features of the periglacial landforms(non-sorted step,mud circle,stony earth circle,thufur,and congeliturbation)located on the Ilgaz Mountains,examine the physicochemical and mineralogical properties with pedological processes of the soils,and assess of the effects of climatic conditions controlling the development of *** Ilgaz Mountains(2587 m a.s.l.),located in the Western Black Sea Region,within the Anatolian Mountains,are important in terms of periglacial landforms(mud circles,stony earth circles,thufurs,non-sorted steps,non-sorted stripes,congeliturbation deposits,and block currents).The descriptive statistics of 123 periglacial landforms measured by fieldworks were *** distribution of freezing and thawing in the Ilgaz Mountains throughout the year was evaluated,and it was found that freezing takes place between December and March,freezing-thawing takes place in April,May,October and november,and thawing takes place between June and *** to soil properties,organic matter content changes from 1.88%to 12.72%in non-sorted step soils,while it is between 2.03%and 12.24%in stony earth circle *** organic matter is observed to be close to congeliturbation deposits at lower ratios compared to non-sorted steps,stony earth circles and mud *** soil reactions on stony earth circles and non-sorted steps vary between slightly acidic and slightly *** the other hand,soil samples taken from the mud circles are different from those taken from the non-sorted steps and stony earth *** soil reaction is acidic,and ph changes between 4.86 and *** lime content also varies between 2.81%and 32.08%,with an average of 12.02%.The texture properties of soils are dominantly loam and clay loam,as in the non-sorted steps,stony earth circles,and mud *** their mineralogical properties,the XRD study was carried out to determine the primer mineral

Side lobe level reduction(SLL)of antenna arrays significantly enhances the signal-to-interference ratio and improves the quality of service(QOS)in recent and future wireless communication systems starting from 5G up to ***,it improves the array gain and directivity,increasing the detection range and angular resolution of radar *** study proposes two highly efficient SLL reduction *** techniques are based on the hybridization between either the single convolution or the double convolution algorithms and the genetic algorithm(GA)to develop the Conv/GA andDConv/GA,*** convolution process determines the element’s excitations while the GA optimizes the element *** M elements linear antenna array(LAA),the convolution of the excitation coefficients vector by itself provides a new vector of excitations of length n=(2M−1).This new vector is divided into three different sets of excitations including the odd excitations,even excitations,and middle excitations of lengths M,M−1,andM,*** the same element spacing as the original LAA is used,it is noticed that the odd and even excitations provide a much lower SLL than that of the LAA but with amuch wider half-power beamwidth(hPBW).While the middle excitations give the same hPBWas the original LAA with a relatively higher *** the increased hPBWof the odd and even excitations,the element spacing is optimized using the ***,the syn.h.sized arrays have the same hPBW as the original LAA with a two-fold reduction in the ***,for extreme SLL reduction,the DConv/GA is *** this technique,the same procedure of the aforementioned Conv/GA technique is performed on the resultant even and odd excitation *** provides a relatively wider hPBWthan the original LAA with about quad-fold reduction in the SLL.

nickel-based cerium zirconate inorganic complex structures for CO_(2)valorisation via dry reforming of methane

The increasing an.h.opogenic emissions of greenhouse gases(GhG)is encouraging extensive research in CO_(2)*** reforming of methane(DRM)depicts a viable strategy to convert both CO_(2)and Ch4into syngas,a worthwhile chemical *** the different active phases for DRM,the use of nickel as catalyst is economically favourable,but typically deactivates due to sintering and carbon *** stabilisation of ni at different loadings in cerium zirconate inorganic complex structures is investigated in this work as strategy to develop robust ni-based DRM *** and TPR-h2analyses confirmed the existence of different phases according to the ni loading in these ***,superficial ni is observed as well as the existence of a CeniO_(3)perovskite *** catalytic activity was tested,proving that 10 wt.%ni loading is the optimum which maximises *** catalyst was also tested in long-term stability experiments at 600and 800℃in order to study the potential deactivation issues at two different *** 600℃,carbon formation is the main cause of catalytic deactivation,whereas a robust stability is shown at 800℃,observing no sintering of the active phase evidencing the success of this strategy rendering a new family of economically appealing CO_(2)and biogas mixtures upgrading catalysts.

Phase composition,conductivity,and sensor properties of cerium-doped indium oxide

The hydrothermal syn.h.sis of In_(2)O_(3)and CeO_(2)–In_(2)O_(3)is investigated as well as the properties of sensor layers based on these *** the syn.h.sis of In_(2)O_(3),intermediate products In(Oh)_(3)and InOOh are formed,which are the precursors of stable cubic(c-In_(2)O_(3))and metastable rhombohedral(rh-In_(2)O_(3))phases,respectively.A transition from c-In_(2)O_(3)to rh-In_(2)O_(3)is observed with the addition of CeO_(2).The introduction of cerium into rh-In_(2)O_(3)results in a decrease in the sensor response to hydrogen,while it increases in composites based on c-In_(2)O_(3).The data on the sensor activity of the composites correlate with XPS results in which CeO_(2)causes a decrease in the concentrations of chemisorbed oxygen and oxygen vacancies in rh-In_(2)O_(3).The reverse situation is observed in composites based on c-In_(2)O_(3).Compared to In_(2)O_(3)and CeO_(2)–In_(2)O_(3)obtained by other methods,the syn.h.sized composites demonstrate maximum response to h_(2)at low temperatures by 70–100℃,and have short response time(0.2–0.5 s),short recovery time(6–7 s),and long-term stability.A model is proposed for the dependence of sensitivity on the direction of electron transfer between In_(2)O_(3)and CeO_(2).

The common ways to activate a chemical reaction are by heat,electric current,or ***,mechanochemistry,where the chemical reaction is activated by applied mechanical force,is less common and only poorly understood at the atomic *** we report a tip-induced activation of chemical reaction of carbon monoxide to dioxide on oxidized rutile TiO_(2)(110)*** activation is studied by atomic force microscopy,Kelvin probe force microscopy under ultrahigh-vacuum and liquid nitrogen temperature conditions,and density functional theory(DFT)*** reaction is inferred from hysteretic behavior of frequency shift signal further supported by vector force mapping of vertical and lateral forces needed to trigger the chemical reaction with torque motion of carbon monoxide towards an oxygen *** reaction is found to proceed stochastically at very small tip-sample ***,the local contact potential difference reveals the atomic-scale charge redistribution in the reactants required to unlock the *** results open up new insights into the mechanochemistry on metal oxide surfaces at the atomic scale.
