The range of optimal values in cost optimization models provides management with options for decision making. However, it can be quite challenging to achieve feasible range of optimality in Geometric programming (Gp) models having negative degrees of difficulty. In this paper, we conduct sensitivity analysis on the optimal solution of Geometric programming problem with negative degree of difficulty. Using imprest data, we determine the optimal objective function, dual decision variables, primal decision variables;the range of values, the cost coefficient and RHS constraint must lie for the solution to stay optimal. From the analysis, we established that incremental sensitivity analysis has the functional form .

Drug-resistant tuberculosis is an important health problem in Cote d’Ivoire. Patients of category I treatment are based on 2RHZe/4RH regimen. For the patients of category II, the 2RHZeS/1RHZe/5HRe regimen is systematically initiated. Study objective was to describe the susceptibility profile to Rifampin and Isoniazid among previously treated patients who are eligible for retreatment and who had received the 2RHZeS/1RHZe/5HRe regimen in Cote d’Ivoire with a molecular method in 2012. Two sputum samples were collected to each patient recruited in the reference regional centres for tuberculosis. Sputum samples were decontaminated by nALC method. The DnA extraction was realized with 500 μl of decontaminated sputum sample with smear-positive. MTBDRplus assay version 1.0 was performed according to the manufacturer’s instruction. An internal quality control program with positive and negative controls was implemented for interpretation of results. A total of 278 patients were enrolled, 148 (53.2%) were recurrent TB cases, 118 (42.5%) failure cases, and 12 (4.3%) defaulters. From sputum of previously treated patients, mutli-drug resistant tuberculosis was diagnosed for 60 (69.8%, 95% IC, 60% - 80%) treated with the 2RHZe/4RH regimen, 24 (75%, 95% IC, 60% - 90%) with the 2RHZeS/1RHZe/5HRe regimen, 60 (41%, 95% IC, 33% - 49%) recurrent TB cases, and 4 (33.3%) defaulters. The comparison of resistance rates to Rifampin estimated from sputum samples in the categories of treatment failures and the recurrence TB cases showed a statistically significant difference. In Cote d’Ivoire, genotype? MTBDRplus assay has permitted to estimate the prevalence of MDR-TB in categories of previously treated patients for tuberculosis.

Approximately 20% of homes nationwide use an on-site treatment system as a form of household wastewater management. However, approximately 10% to 20% of on-site treatment systems malfunction each year, many of which have either failed or exceeded the soil’s long-term acceptance rate (LTAR), causing environmental and human health risks. The objective of this field study was to evaluate the effects of soil condition (e.g., wet and dry) and product architecture type [i.e., chamber, gravel-less-pipe (GLP), polystyrene-aggregate, and pipe-and-aggregate] on in-product solution storage and biomat thickness in a profile-limited soil in northwest Arkansas under increased loading rates and to estimate the LTAR for each product. During Phase I of this study (March 13 to October 4, 2013), effluent loading rates were approximately doubled, while rates were approximately quadrupled during Phase II (October 8, 2013 to May 29, 2014), from the maximum allowable loading rate for each product. The pipe-and-tire-chip, 46-cm-wide trench pipe-and-gravel, and the 25-cm diameter GLP products had the greatest (p e the 31-cm-width and the 5.4-m-long chambers had the lowest (p n-product solution storage during wet-soil conditions of Phase I monitoring. The 25-cm diameter GLP product had the greatest (p e the 61-cm-width, 5.4-m-long chamber had the lowest (p n-product solution storage during Phase II. Results of this study indicate that some alternative products may be able to effectively handle effluent loading rates in excess of those currently allowed by the State of Arkansas. Further research will be required to confirm these interpretations.

The study investigated the antibacterial activity of essential oil from the peel of Citrus aurantifolia against eleven multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacterial isolates of clinical origin. The Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion method was used to determine the antibiotic resistance profile of the isolates. essential oil (eO) from the peels of lime purchased at a market in Ile-Ife was extracted by the hydro-distillation method, while the sensitivity of the isolates to eO was done via agar well diffusion method. The minimum inhibitory and minimum bactericidal concentrations (MIC and MBC) of the eO against the tested isolates were determined following standard methods. All the tested isolates exhibited multidrug resistance (MDR) characteristics. The multiple antibiotics resistant indexes (MARI%) for Gram-positive bacterial isolates ranged between 70% and 100% while that of Gram-negative was 100%. The yield of eO was 1% and the eO demonstrated activities at 25%, 50% and 100% v/v against the MDR bacterial isolates. The activity of eO was mostly not significantly different at the same concentration for all the isolates, and at different concentrations for each of the isolates. The MIC range for Gram-negative and Gram-positive isolates was between 0.195% to 3.125% v/v and 0.39% to 3.125% respectively while the range was between 1.563% to 3.125% and 0.781% to 6.250% v/v for MBC respectively. The study showed that eO from the peel of lime fruits demonstrated excellent in vitro antibacterial activity against MDR bacterial isolates. This potential can be further explored as an alternative for the treatment and management of infections caused by MDR bacterial isolates.

Background: nest construction is a key element of avian reproductive behaviour and the result is often a complex structure that is used for incubation of eggs, which represents an extended phenotype. It is known that nest construction is a plastic behaviour but the extent to which plasticity is observed in a single species with a wide geographical distribution is largely unknown. This study sought to better understand variation in nest size and composition across a very wide geographical area. The hypothesis suggested that location would affect size but not composition of nests of the european Pied Flycatcher (Ficedula hypoleuca). Methods: nests and reproductive data were collected from seventeen study sites, spread over 6° of latitude and 3.3° of longitude on the island of Great Britain. Dimensions of nests were measured before they were deconstructed to determine the masses and types materials used in the outer nest and the cup lining. Results: Geographical variation was observed in base thickness of nests but not many other dimensions. nests varied in composition but were mainly made of leaf, moss, bark, grass, root and fern. Moss was used more to the north and east of the study area compared with more leaf mass towards the south and west. The species of leaf and bark used in the nests varied between geographical locations. Additionally, the use of leaves or bark from a particular tree species did not reflect the incidence of the tree species in the immediate territory. Conclusions: This study showed that nest composition was affected by geographical location over a wide area. Variation between nests at each location was high and so it was concluded that differences in nest composition reflect individual selection of materials but evidence is such that it remains unclear whether this is deliberate to fulfil a specific role in the nest, or simply opportunistic with birds simply picking up materials with the appropriate characteristics as they find them outside the

In the beginning of the 1900s,the prevalence of catatonia in inpatient samples was reported to be between 19.5%and 50%.From the mid-1900s,most clinicians thought that catatonia was *** in medical sciences,particularly in the field of neurology,may have reduced the incidence of neurological diseases that present with catatonic features or mitigated their *** active pharmacological and psychosocial treatment methods may have either eliminated or moderated catatonic ***,the relatively narrow descriptive features in modern classifications compared with classical texts and ascribing catatonic signs and symptoms to antipsychotic-induced motor symptoms may have contributed to an apparent decline in the incidence of *** application of catatonia rating scales introduced in the 1990s revealed significantly more symptoms than routine clinical interviews,and within a few years,the notion of the disappearance of catatonia gave way to its unexpected *** systematic investigations have found that,on average,10%of acute psychotic patients present with catatonic *** this editorial,the changes in the incidence of catatonia and the possible underlying causes are reviewed.
