Surface engineering of ZnO electrocatalyst by N doping towards electrochemical CO_(2) reduction

The discovery of efficient,selective,and stable electrocatalysts can be a key point to produce the largescale chemical fuels via electrochemical CO_(2) reduction(ECR).In this study,an earth-abundant and nontoxic ZnO-based electrocatalyst was developed for use in gas-diffusion electrodes(GDE),and the effect of nitrogen(N)doping on the ECR activity of ZnO electrocatalysts was ***,a ZnO nanosheet was prepared via the hydrothermal method,and nitridation was performed at different times to control the N-doping *** an increase in the N-doping content,the morphological properties of the nanosheet changed significantly,namely,the 2D nanosheets transformed into irregularly shaped ***,the ECR performance of Zn O electrocatalysts with different N-doping content was assessed in 1.0 M KHCO_(3) electrolyte using a gas-diffusion electrode-based ECR *** the ECR activity increased after a small amount of N doping,it decreased for higher N doping *** them,the N:ZnO-1 h electrocatalysts showed the best CO selectivity,with a faradaic efficiency(FE_(CO))of 92.7%at-0.73 V *** hydrogen electrode(RHE),which was greater than that of an undoped Zn O electrocatalyst(FE_(CO)of 63.4%at-0.78 V_(RHE)).Also,the N:ZnO-1 h electrocatalyst exhibited outstanding durability for 16 h,with a partial current density of-92.1 mA cm^(-2).This improvement of N:ZnO-1 h electrocatalyst can be explained by density functional theory calculations,demonstrating that this improvement of N:ZnO-1 h electrocatalyst comes from(ⅰ)the optimized active sites lowering the free energy barrier for the rate-determining step(RDS),and(ⅱ)the modification of electronic structure enhancing the electron transfer rate by N doping.

Copper(Cu)provides a cost-effective means of producing value-added fuels through the electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide(CO_(2)RR).However,we observed the production of hydrocarbons via CO_(2)RR on commercial Cu films is less efficient because of the surface impurities,i.e.,*** monoxide(CO),a reaction intermediate of CO_(2)RR to hydrocarbons,binds strongly to the Fe sites and interrupts the production of hydrocarbons,resulting in an active hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).Herein,we report a method of blocking the effect of Fe impurities on the Cu surface through the preferential growth of nano-sized metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)on Fe *** zirconium(Zr)-based MOFs(UiO-66)forms a compensating layer on Cu film via the terephthalic acid(TPA)-Fe coordination bond,the Ui O-66 coated Cu film(UiO-66@Cu)presents significantly improved hydrocarbon Faradaic efficiency(FE)of 37.59%compared to 14.68%FE on commercial Cu film(99.9%purity)by suppressing *** to X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)analysis,the UiO-66 ligand binds to entire metallic Fe site on the Cu surface,while metallic Cu is ***,UiO-66@Cu provides active sites of Cu for CO_(2)RR and leads to highly efficient and selective production of hydrocarbons.

The conversion of methane to olefins,aromatics,and hydrogen(MTOAH)can be used to stably obtain hydrocarbons when the effect of the catalytic surface is optimized from the reaction engineering *** this study,Fe/Si C catalysts were packed into a quartz tube *** catalytic surfaces of Si C and the impregnated Fe species decreased the apparent activation energies(E_a)of methane consumption in the blank reactor between 965 and 1020℃.Consequently,the hydrocarbon yield increased by 2.4times at 1020℃.Based on the model reactions of ethane,ethylene,and acetylene mixed with hydrogen in the range of 500-1020℃,an excess amount of Fe in the reactor favored the C-C coupling reaction over the selective hydrogenation of acetylene;consequently,coke formation was favored over the hydrogenation *** gas-phase reactions and catalyst properties were optimized to increase hydrocarbon yields while reducing coke *** 0.2Fe catalyst-packed reactor(0.26 wt%Fe)resulted in a hydrocarbon yield of 7.1%and a coke selectivity of<2%when the ratio of the void space of the postcatalyst zone to the catalyst space was adjusted to be≥*** on these findings,the facile approach of decoupling the reaction zone between the catalyst surface and the gas-phase reaction can provide insights into catalytic reactor design,thereby facilitating the scale-up from the laboratory to the commercial scale.

Activated pancreatic stellate cells(PSCs)have been widely accepted as a key precursor of excessive pancreatic fibrosis,which is a crucial hallmark of chronic pancreatitis(CP)and its formidable associated disease,pancreatic cancer(PC).Hence,anti-fibrotic therapy has been identified as a novel therapeutic strategy for treating CP and PC by targeting *** of the anti-fibrotic agents have been limited to phaseⅠ/Ⅱclinical trials involving vitamin analogs,which are abundant in medicinal plants and have proved to be promising for clinical *** use of phytomedicines,as new anti-fibrotic agents,has been applied to a variety of complementary and alternative *** aim of this review was to present a focused update on the selective new potential anti-fibrotic agents,including curcumin,resveratrol,rhein,emodin,green tea catechin derivatives,metformin,eruberin A,and ellagic acid,in combating PSC in CP and PC *** aimed to describe the mechanism(s)of the phytochemicals used,either alone or in combination,and the associated molecular *** of them were tested in PC models with similar mechanism of actions,and curcumin was tested *** research may explore the issues of bioavailability,drug design,and nano-formulation,in order to achieve successful clinical outcomes with promising activity and tolerability.

Facilitators of and barriers to emergency medical service use by acute ischemic stroke patients: A retrospective survey

Objective: The objective of the study was to identify facilitators and barriers to emergency medical service use among acute ischemic stroke patients in ***: This paper presents a secondary analysis of a retrospective survey that collected data from questionnaires and medical *** 233 acute ischemic stroke patients enrolled in a large-scale study,160 patients who had arrived at a hospital within 72 h after symptom onset were included in the data ***: Users of emergency medical services needed a shorter time than non-users to arrive at hospital (140 min vs.625 min.,p =0.001) and were more likely to arrive at hospital within 3 h of symptom onset (51.9% vs.31.5%,p =0.013).For those who first contacted emergency medical service,the facilitators of emergency medical service use were the presence of hemiparesis (p =0.003),bilateral paralysis (p =0.040),and loss of balance (p =0.021).The predominant barrier was the failure to recognize the urgency of symptoms (p 0.006).Conclusions: The use of emergency medical services reduced prehospital delay and increased the likelihood of patient arrival at hospital within 3 *** that experiencing typical stroke symptoms was a facilitator of emergency medical service use yet failure to recognize the urgency of symptoms was a barrier,public awareness should be raised as regards stroke symptoms and the benefits of using emergency medical services.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of Gyejibokryeong-Hwan(Guizhifuling-wan, GBH) on muscle injury in a mouse model of muscle ***: C57/BL6 mouse biceps femoris muscles were injured using the drop-mass method and injured animals were treated orally with GBH(50,100, or 500 mg/kg) once a day for 7 d. Open field and treadmill running tests were performed to assess functional recovery from muscle injury. The production of pro-inflammatory cytokines was examined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and Western blotting analysis. Expression of the muscle regeneration biomarkers, myoblast determination(Myo D), myogenic factor 5(Myf5), and smooth muscle actin(α-SMA), in the biceps femoris muscle was investigated at the protein and m RNA level by Western blotting and real time-PCR, respectively. Histological analysis was performed using hematoxylin and eosin staining. Finally, myosin heavy chain production was investigated in differentiated C2C12 myoblasts in the presence of ***: GBH treatment markedly improved locomotion and running behavior. GBH significantly inhibited the secretion of monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 into the bloodstream in muscle-contused animals. The levels of Myo D, Myf5, and α-SMA protein and m RNA were significantly up-regulated by GBH in injured muscle tissue. Histological studies suggested that GBH facilitated recovery from muscle damage. However, GBH did not induce the production of myosin heavy chain in ***: Overall, the present study suggested that GBH improves the recovery of the injured muscles in the mouse model of muscle contusion.

Molecular genetic evidence of Y chromosome loss in male patients with hematological disorders

Background There has been continuous debate as to whether Y chromosome loss is an age related phenomenon or a cytogenetic marker indicating a malignant change. This study aimed to investigate the frequency of Y chromosome loss in the specific patients in order to determine whether it is an age related phenomena or a cytogenetic marker indicating a malignant change. Methods Five hundred and ninety-two male patients with a median age of 59 years old （22-95 years） were included in this study. These patients were divided into two groups： the study group, including 237 patients who had hematological disorders included myeloproliferative disorder （MPD）, myelodysplastic syndrome （MDS）, acute myeloid leukemia （AML）, chronic myeloid leukemia （CML）, multiple myeloma （MM）, and lymphoma and the control group including 355 patients with no evidence of hematological disease. Both conventional cytogenetics and fluorescence in situ hybridization using DNA probes specific for the centromere of chromosomes X or Y were performed according to our standard laboratory protocols. Results Twenty-four out of 237 patients with hematological disorders （10.1%） had Y chromosome loss. Of these 24 patients, 2 patients had AML （5.0% of all AML patients）, 2 patients had CML （5.7% of all CML patients）, 2 patients had MPD （8.0% of all MPD patients）, 3 patients had MM （10.0% of all MM patients）, 5 patients had lymphoma （10.6% of all lymphoma patients） and 10 patients had MDS （16.7% of all MDS patients）. Twenty-one out of these 24 patients had a loss of Y chromosome as the sole anomaly and the remaining three had a loss of Y chromosome accompanied with other structural changes detected by conventional cytogenetic analysis. Fluorescence in situ hybridization （FISH） analysis confirmed the routine cytogenetic results. All 24 patients had a loss of Y chromosome with a range of 17.5%-98.5% of cells. A freshwater green microalgae Chlorella sp., UMACC344 was shown to produce high lipid content and has the potential to be used as feedstock for biofuel production. In this study, photosynthetic effciency, biochemical pro?les and non-targeted metabolic pro?ling were studied to compare between the nitrogen-replete and deplete conditions. Slowed growth, change in photosynthetic pigments and lowered photosynthetic effciency were observed in response to nitrogen deprivation. Biochemical pro?les of the cultures showed an increased level of carbohydrate, lipids and total fatty acids, while the total soluble protein content was lowered. A trend of fatty acid saturation was observed in the nitrogen-deplete culture with an increase in the level of saturated fatty acids especially C16:0 and C18:0, accompanied by a decrease in proportions of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids. Fifty-nine metabolites, including amino acids, lipids, phytochemical compounds, vitamins and cofactors were signi?cantly dysregulated and annotated in this study. Pathway mapping analysis revealed a rewiring of metabolic pathways in the cells, particularly purine, carotenoid, nicotinate and nicotinamide, and amino acid metabolisms. Within the treatment period of nitrogen deprivation, the key processes involved were reshu ? ing of nitrogen from proteins and photosynthetic machinery, together with carbon repartitioning in carbohydrates and lipids.
