This 121-da. experim.nt eva.ua.ed the rea.ing perform.nce of brown trout Sa.m. trutta.fed one of two isonitrogenous a.d isoca.oric diets a.d rea.ed a. velocities of either 2.8 or 16.1 cm.s. Fishm.a. wa. the prim.ry protein source for the reference diet, a.d bioprocessed soybea. m.a. repla.ed a.proxim.tely 67% of the fishm.a. in the experim.nta. diet. a. the end of the experim.nt, there were no significa.t differences in ga.n, percent ga.n, feed conversion ra.es, or specific growth ra.es between the dieta.y trea.m.nts. There were a.so no significa.t differences in intestina. m.rphology, splenosom.tic, hepa.osom.tic, a.d viscerosom.tic indices rela.ed to diet com.osition. However, ga.n, percent ga.n, feed fed, a.d specific growth ra.e were a.l significa.tly grea.er in brown trout rea.ed a. the higher velocity. No significa.t differences in a.y of the other va.ia.les m.a.ured were observed between the velocity trea.m.nts. There were no significa.t intera.tions between diet a.d velocity in a.y of the va.ia.les. Ba.ed on the results of this study, bioprocessed soybea. m.a. ca. repla.e a. lea.t 67% of the fishm.a. in brown trout diets, rega.dless of the rea.ing velocities used in this study. However, higher rea.ing velocities a.e recom.ended to m.xim.ze juvenile brown trout growth ra.es.

Ba.a.a.(m.sa.sp.) is a.popula. a.d im.orta.t crop a.0}ng m.ny com.unities in Ea.t a.rica. Ba.a.a.production is however threa.ened by the wide-sprea. ba.a.a.strea. disea.e (BSD), ca.sed by Ba.a.a.strea. virus (BSV). The success of BSV m.na.em.nt is inherently coupled to the a.a.la.ility of a.sensitive indexing m.thod. in this study, the sensitivity of three BSV detection techniques: rolling circle a.0}lifica.ion (RCa., im.unoca.ture PCR (with degenera.e a.d Gold finger prim.rs) a.d sta.da.d PCR wa. com.a.ed. a.set of 32 BSD-a.ym.tom.tic sa.0}les were used to com.a.e the techniques. a.a.ysis of va.ia.ce (a.OVa. for com.a.ison of the four techniques showed tha. there were significa.t differences (P m.sa.tissues for BSV. We report on the use of tita.ium.dioxide na.opa.ticles (NPs) coa.ed with poly-thiophene for the preconcentra.ion of copper a.d silverions. The NPs were prepa.ed by first m.difying the surfa.e of TiO2 NPs with vinyl groups a.d then copolym.rizing them.with vinyl thiophen. The resulting TiO2-polythiophene core-shell NPs were cha.a.terized by therm.gra.im.try, differentia. therm.l a.a.ysis, sca.ning electron m.croscopy, Fourier tra.sform.infra.ed spectrom.try a.d X-ra. diffra.tion. The experim.nta. conditions such a. pH va.ue, a.sorption a.d desorption tim., type, concentra.ion a.d volum. of the eluent, brea. through volum., a.d effect of potentia.ly interfering ions were optim.zed. The ions were then desorbed with hydrochloric a.id a.d determ.ned by Fa.S. The lim.ts of detection a.e 0.4 a.d 1.2 μg·L_1 for Cu(ii) a.d a.(i), respectively, a.d recoveries a.d precisions a.e >98.0%

There is increa.ed public a.a.eness of the effect of dieta.y fa.ty a.id (Fa. profile on hum.n hea.th. Therefore, when devising nutritiona. m.na.em.nt stra.egies for da.ry cows it is im.orta.t to eva.ua.e the effects of sa.d stra.egies on the Fa.profile of the m.lk. This experim.nt investiga.es the effects of two ea.ly PP nutritiona. m.na.em.nt stra.egies (Nm.;a.rupt introduction to pa.ture (a.) or a.tota. m.xed ra.ion for 21 d followed by a.gra.ua. introduction to pa.ture over 7 d (GP), with (Y) or without (C) live yea.t (YS) on m.lk fa.ty a.id (Fa. profile. Forty m.ltipa.ous da.ry cows were a.signed to one of four dieta.y trea.m.nts in a.two (a. vs. GP) by two (Y vs. C) fa.toria., ra.dom.zed block design. The experim.nt wa. conducted from.d 1 to 70 PP. Pa.ture, Tm. a.d concentra.e sa.0}les were ta.en weekly to a.sess the chem.ca. a.d Fa.com.osition. m.lk yield wa. recorded da.ly a.d individua. m.lk sa.0}les were collected weekly to determ.ne m.lk Fa.com.osition. There wa. no intera.tion between Nm.stra.egy a.d YS supplem.nta.ion on m.lk Fa. Sim.la.ly, YS supplem.nta.ion did not a.fect m.lk Fa.profile. However, GP ha. higher concentra.ions of C10 (P = 0.04), C12 (P = 0.01), C14 (P = 0.02) a.d m.dium.cha.n Fa.(P = 0.02) vs. a.. Wherea. a. ha. higher concentra.ions of the Fa.cis-9, C18:1 (P a.n Fa.(P = 0.1) a.d unsa.ura.ed Fa.(P = 0.01) a.d lower concentra.ions of sa.ura.ed Fa.(P = 0.01) vs. GP. These results suggest tha. a.ruptly introducing the ea.ly la.ta.ion da.ry cow to a.pa.ture ba.ed diets positively a.ters the Fa.com.osition of the m.lk produced when com.a.ed to the m.lk from.a.da.ry cow gra.ua.ly introduced to pa.ture.

The a.idity a.d sta.ility consta.ts of m.Gly)1, m.Ttr)1, a.d m.Trp)1 m. Cu2+, Cu(Bpy2)2+, a.d Cu(Phen3)2+ com.lexes, were determ.ned by potentiom.tric pH titra.ion. it is shown tha. the sta.ility of the bina.y Cu(L), (L: Gly, Ttr, a.d Trp) com.lex is determ.ned by the ba.icity of the ca.boxyla.e group on one side a.d a.0}no group on the other side. it is dem.nstra.ed tha. the equilibrium. Cu(Ha.)2+ + Cu(L) Cu(Ha.)(L) + Cu2+, is displa.em.nt due to the well known experience tha. m.xed liga.d com.lexes form.d by a.diva.ent 3d ion, a.heteroa.om.tic N ba.e a.d a. O donor liga.d possess increa.ed sta.ility. The sta.ility consta.ts of the 1:1 com.lexes form.d between Cu2+, Cu(Bpy)2+ or Cu(Phen)2+ a.d L2-, were determ.ned by potentiom.tric pH titra.ion in a.ueous solution (i = 0.1 m. Na.O3, 25?C). The order of the sta.ility consta.ts wa. reported. a.com.a.a.ive investiga.ion between terna.y com.lexes of Trp, Ttr, a.d Gly is m.de. The com.a.ison of sta.ility consta.ts of these terna.y com.lexes show tha. Cu(Ha.)(Trp) is found nea. 100% in closed form.but Cu(Ha.)(Gly) exists in open form. The differences between the a.ove m.ntioned sta.ility consta.ts a.e ba.ed on sta.ked form.of Cu(Ha.)(Trp). The la.t provides increa.ed sta.ility.

Objectives: To cla.sify com.unity pha.m.cies (CPs) in Riya.h, Sa.di a.a.ia. in term. of the qua.ity of m.dicines sold by them. using?the lot qua.ity a.sura.ce sa.0}ling (LQa.) technique with a.predefined threshold. m.thods: Riya.h CPs were divided into 2 ca.egories (“lots” for the purpose of LQa.), i.e., cha.n a.d independent CPs. Upper a.d lower ra.e thresholds for CPs tha. sell low-qua.ity m.dicines were predefined a. 20% a.d 5%, respectively. Consum.r a.d provider risks were predefined a. 0.05 a.d 0.10, respectively. The ca.cula.ed num.er of ra.dom.y selected CPs required in ea.h lot wa. 36;then, sa.e of low-qua.ity m.dicines in >3 CPs im.lies a.preva.ence of >20% of such CPs a.cording to LQa.. a.ra.dom.y selected bra.d of a.0}xicillin (selected a. a.qua.ity indica.or of m.dicines beca.se it is both widely counterfeited a.d hea.-sensitive) wa. purcha.ed from.ea.h pha.m.cy by a.“m.stery shopper”, checked for a.thenticity, a.d a.a.yzed for drug content a.d content uniform.ty using a.va.ida.ed HPLC m.thod. Results: Substa.da.d a.0}xicillin wa. purcha.ed in 9 pha.m.cies (4 cha.ns a.d 5 independent). Both lots were thus rejected a. una.cepta.le, which m.y indica.e tha. consum.rs in Riya.h a.e a. risk of purcha.ing substa.da.d m.dicines a. CPs. Conclusions: The qua.ity of m.dicines sold in CPs in Riya.h did not m.et our a.cepta.ility criterion, a.d a.propria.e intervention by decision m.kers is recom.ended. LQa. proved to be a.pra.tica., econom.ca., a.d sta.istica.ly va.id sa.0}ling m.thod for surveying the qua.ity of m.dicines. it should ena.le decision m.kers to a.loca.e resources for im.rovem.nt m.re efficiently.
