Defining the effect of sweep tillage tool cutting edge geometry on tillage forces using 3D discrete element modelling

The energy required for tillage processes accounts for a significant proportion of total energy used in crop *** many tillage processes decreasing the draft and upward vertical forces is often desired for reduced fuel use and improved penetration,*** studies have proved that the discrete element modelling(DEM)can effectively be used to model the soil–tool *** his study,Fielke(1994)[1]examined the effect of the various tool cutting edge geometries,namely;cutting edge height,length of underside rub,angle of underside clearance,on draft and vertical *** this paper the experimental parameters of Fielke(1994)[1]were simulated using 3D discrete element modelling *** the simulations a hysteretic spring contact model integrated with a linear cohesion model that considers the plastic deformation behaviour of the soil hence provides better vertical force prediction was *** parameters were determined by comparing the experimental and simulation results of angle of repose and penetration *** results of the study showed that the simulation results of the soil-various tool cutting edge geometries agreed well with the experimental results of Fielke(1994)[1].The modelling was then used to simulate a further range of cutting edge geometries to better define the effect of sweep tool cutting edge geometry parameters on tillage *** extra simulations were able to show that by using a sharper cutting edge with zero vertical cutting edge height the draft and upward vertical force were further reduced indicating there is benefit from having a really sharp cutting *** extra simulations also confirmed that the interpolated trends for angle of underside clearance as suggested by Fielke(1994)[1]where correct with a linear reduction in draft and upward vertical force for angle of underside clearance between the ranges of-25 and-5°,and between-5 and 0°.The good correlations give confidence to recommend further invest

Spline regression modelling of PTO performance of tractor fuelled with different biodiesels

The objective of this study was to investigate the possibility of fitting spline regression models for power take-off(PTO)performance characteristics of an agricultural tractor tested with four different fuels,including diesel fuel(B0)and three biodiesel blends made of canola oil(B10:10%biodiesel+90%petro-diesel blend;B20:20%biodiesel+90%petro-diesel blend;B30:30%biodiesel+90%petro-diesel blend).The performance characteristics evaluated were PTO power,engine torque,engine fuel consumption,and specific fuel *** to sharp slopes in measured quantities around the nominal engine speed(2200 r/min),compared to the standard regression method,the spline regression models suited well to the experimental data with coefficient of determination R2=0.99 for PTO power and engine torque.R2 varied between 0.97 and 0.99 for fuel consumption and 0.91 and 0.95 for specific fuel *** weaker correlation found for specific fuel consumption could be attributed to profound fluctuations in measured data causing atypical pattern in the corresponding graphs around the nominal engine *** was concluded that splines were useful to accurately predict the measured PTO power and engine *** standard methods nor splines were sufficient to obtain very good regression models for specific fuel consumption.

High Velocity Forming of Aluminum Cylindrical Cups-Experiments and Numerical Simulations

A new two stage detonation forming machine was developed and cylindrical aluminum cups were formed by using gas detonation forming technology. The forming process was analyzed with the explicit finite element method with various parameters and ANSYS/LS-DYNA software. Defects of wrinkling and rupture were predicted for some forming conditions. The strain and the thickness distribution results were in good agreement with the experimental results. It was seen that thinning and forming mainly take place during the one fourth of the time. The effects of detonation pressure and blank holding force on the deformation of the work pieces were discussed. The numerical results were compared with those obtained in the experiments.

ELECTRORHEOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF POLYANILINE/PUMICE COMPOSITE SUSPENSIONS

Electrorheological （ER） properties of polyaniline （PAni）, pumice and polyaniline/pumice composites （PAPC） were investigated. Polyaniline and PAni/pumice composite were prepared by oxidative polymerization. PAni/pumice particlesbased ER suspensions were prepared in silicone oil （SO）, and their ER behavior was investigated as a function of shear rate, electric field strength, concentration and temperature. Sedimentation stabilities of suspensions were determined. It has been found that ER activity of all the suspensions increases with increasing electric field strength, concentration and decreasing shear rate. It has shown that the suspensions have a typical shear thinning non-Newtonian viscoelastic behavior. Yield stress of composite suspensions increased linearly with increasing applied electric field strength and with concentrations of the particles. The effect of high temperature on ER activity of purrfice/silicone oil systems was also investigated.

Influence of Grain Size on Electrical and Optical Properties of InP Films

InP film samples were prepared by spray pyrolysis technique using aqueous solutions of InCl3 and Na2HPO4, which were atomized with compressed air as carrier gas onto glass substrates at 500℃ with different thicknesses of the films. It is found that the resistivity of the polycrystalline films strongly depends on the grain size. It is observed that the grain size of the films increase with the decrease of the energy band gap and strain of the film. The changes observed in the energy band gap and strain related to the film grain size of the films are discussed in detail.

Determining the surface fault-rupture hazard zone for the Pazarcık segment of the East Anatolian fault zone through comprehensive analysis of surface rupture from the February 6,2023,Earthquake(Mw 7.7)

Following surface rupture observations in populated areas affected by the KahramanmaraşEarthquake(Mw 7.7)on February 6th,2023,along the Pazarcık segment of the East Anatolian Fault Zone(EAFZ),this study presents novel insights into physical criteria for delineating surface fault-rupture hazard zones(SRHZs)along ruptured strike-slip *** achieve this objective,three trench studies across the surface rupture were conducted on the Pazarcık segment of the EAFZ to collect field data,and earthquake recurrence intervals were interpreted using Bayesian statistics from previously conducted paleoseismological *** results of the proposed model indicate that the Pazarcık segment produced five significant surface-rupturing earthquakes in the last∼11 kyr:E1:11.13±1.74 kyr,E2:7.62±1.20 kyr,E3:5.34±1.05 kyr,E4:1.82±0.93 kyr,and E5:0.35±0.11 *** addition,the recurrence intervals of destructive earthquakes on the subject in question range from 0.6 kyr to 4.8 *** that the last significant earthquake occurred in 1513,the longest time since the most recent surface fault rupturing earthquake on this particular segment was 511 *** results indicate that,in terms of the theoretical recurrence interval of earthquakes that can create surface ruptures on the Pazarcık segment,the period in which the February 6,2023,earthquake occurred was within the end of the expected return *** a result,the potential for a devastating earthquake in the near future is not foreseen on the same ***,the SRHZ proposed for the Pazarcık section of Gölbaşıvillage was calculated as a 61-meter-wide offset on the fault lineament to reduce the negativities that may occur in the ruptured area in the *** is recommended to take into account this width in the settlement of this area and nearby areas.

An ethnobotanical study of medicinal plants in Güce district,north-eastern Turkey

This study aims to identify medicinal plants traditionally used to treat diseases by local people living in Güce district,north-eastern *** study was carried out between 2018 and 2021 using a two-part semi-structured,open-ended questionnaire with 165 local *** were analysed using use-report,frequency of citation,and informant consensus *** identified 128 vascular medicinal plant taxa belonging to 54 families and 106 *** most common plant taxa belong to Rosaceae(16 taxa/12.5%),Asteraceae(12 taxa/9.4%),and Lamiaceae(9 taxa/7%)*** most frequently used preparation method reported was decoction(39.8%);the most commonly utilized plant parts were leaves(40.3%).Statistical analysis reveals that women in Güce district(df?163,p?0.043<0.05)possess the most traditional *** highest frequency of citation(61)and use report(92)were recorded for Tilia rubra ***,and the highest informant consensus factors were cited for respiratory system disorders(0.86),digestive system disorders(0.73),and skin disorders(0.71).This study reported nine plant taxa as medicinal plants for the first time,and documented a total of 293 new therapeutic ***,the study indicates that the transfer of traditional knowledge to future generations is limited(F?3.355,p?0.020).Action should be taken as soon as possible to preserve existing traditional knowledge and to ensure its transfer to future generations.

EFFECT OF VINYL ACETATE CONTENT ON THE MECHANICAL PROPERTIES AND MORPHOLOGICAL STRUCTURES OF POLYPROPYLENE

The effect of vinyl acetate （VA） content in ethylene vinyl acetate （EVA） copolyrner on the mechanical properties of polypropylene was investigated. Three different EVA copolymers with concentrations of 3 wt%, 6 wt%, 9 wt%, 12 wt% and 15 wt%, were blended to polypropylene. The mechanical properties such as yield and tensile strengths, elastic modulus, Izod impact strength, hardness and melt flow index of the blends were investigated. Relationship between type of vinyl acetate and concentrations, mechanical, MFI and morphological properties were explored.

Decomposition method for solving parabolic equations in finite domains

This paper presents a comparison among Adomian decomposition method (ADM), Wavelet-Galerkin method (WGM), the fully explicit (1,7) finite difference technique (FTCS), the fully implicit (7,1) finite difference method (BTCS), (7,7) Crank-Nicholson type finite difference formula (C-N), the fully explicit method (1,13) and 9-point finite difference method, for solving parabolic differential equations with arbitrary boundary conditions and based on weak form functionals in finite domains. The problem is solved rapidly, easily and elegantly by ADM. The numerical results on a 2D transient heat conducting problem and 3D diffusion problem are used to validate the proposed ADM as an effective numerical method for solving finite domain parabolic equations. The numerical results showed that our present method is less time consuming and is easier to use than other methods. In addition, we prove the convergence of this method when it is applied to the nonlinear parabolic equation.

In this paper, we establish exact solutions for the .R（m,n） equations by using an sn-cn metnou,As a result, abundant new cornpactons, i,e, solitons with the absence of infinite wings, new type of Jacobi elliptic function, solitary wave and periodic wave solutions, of this equation are obtained with minimal calculations. The properties of the R（m, n） equations are shown in figures.
