Facile synthesis of samarium and cerium doped double perovskite cobaltite with enhanced dielectric response

The investigation of Sm-Ce doping on structure,conduction,and dielectric response of Bi_(2)Ca_(2-2x)Sm_(x)CexCoO_(6)(x=0.000,0.025,0.050,0.075)(BCSCCO)are *** the specimens were synthesized by a facile synthesis technique named the co-precipitation route.X-ray diffraction(XRD)reveals that BCSCCO crystallizes into one phase with space group P21/*** crystallite size,dislocation density,lattice parameters,lattice strain,unit cell volume,and bulk density were determined using XRD *** structural properties of Bi_(2)Ca_(2)CoO_(6)were examined using calculations based on the density functional *** and experimental values discrepancy is less than 1%.A scanning electron microscope was used for performing a microstructural *** SEm images demonstrate the homogeneous distribution of grains with a range of sizes(0.054-0.090μm).The alternating current(ac)conductivity,dielectric permittivity,and tangent loss were also studied as a function of frequency(20 Hz-3 mHz)at different temperatures(100-500℃).All synthesized samples were examined using non-linear Debye's function to determine their spreading factor and relaxation *** specimen with the lowest crystallite size(∼23 nm)exhibits a high dielectric permittivity(∼3.80×10^(6)).The conduction mechanism was examined in the studied samples with the use of Jonscher's power *** power law indicates that the BCSCCO(x=0.000,0.025)follows correlated barrier hopping,whereas the x=0.050 and 0.075 compositions follow non-overlapping polaron *** studied specimen Bi_(2)Ca_(1.9)0Sm_(0.05)0Ce_(0.05)_(0)CoO_(6)with the highest density(∼5.65 g/cm^(3))displays a high electrical conductivity(∼46.1 S/cm).These findings correspond to those published for ceramics made from calcium cobaltite using solid-state reactions(5.0-26.0 S/cm).

Association of gastroesophageal reflux disease and laryngeal cancer

Objective:Studies examining the association of reflux disease with the risk of developing laryngeal cancer have both proven and disproven the null ***:This retrospective caseecontrol study examines the association of reflux in two populations exposed to similar risk factors,including tobacco,to the extent that end-organ malignant transformation has *** IRB approval was obtained,a search of our hospital’s cancer center’s database was performed from 2000 to 2013.A retrospective chart review was then performed and the prevalence of gastroesophageal reflux disease among patients with laryngeal cancer(n Z 290)was *** was then compared to the prevalence of gastroesophageal reflux disease among patients presenting with lung cancer(n Z 2440)during the same time period.A multivariate logistic regression was performed to determine the association of reflux with laryngeal ***:Taking into consideration tobacco use,there was a strong association between male gender and occurrence of laryngeal cancer as opposed to lung cancer(OR Z 3.30;95%CI 2.53e4.36,Pmodest association between reflux and laryngeal cancer(OR Z 1.65;95%CI 1.19e2.25,P Z 0.003).However,there was no association between reflux and the propensity for carcinoma in specific laryngeal subsites(P Z 0.47).Conclusions:In this study examining a heterogeneous population with end-organ malignancy there was a modest association between reflux and laryngeal *** research is necessary to determine the biologic relevance of this finding.

Injection medialization laryngoplasty improves dysphagia in patients with unilateral vocal fold immobility

Objective: To assess patient reported swallowing outcomes before and after injec-tion medialization laryngoplasty in patients with unilateral vocal fold immobility (UVFI). methods: Case series with chart review of patients with UVFI who underwent injection media-lization laryngoplasty at a community laryngology practice by a single clinician between October 2015 and December 2017. Patient-reported validated surveys of swallowing impair-ment, Eating Assessment Tool (EAT-10), demographics, etiology and duration of symptoms were recorded before and after injection. A paired t test was done on EAT-10 surveys before and after ImL to assess for statistical significance. Results: Twenty-one patients with UVFI and glottic insufficiency underwent ImL between October 2015 and December 2017. Nineteen of 21 patients (90％) presented with dysphagia (EAT-10 ≥ 3). 76％ of patients with dysphagia reported improvement in swallowing function af-ter ImL. The EAT-10 scores of UVFI patients with dysphagia before and after ImL were 17.0 ± 14.0 and 4.2 ± 9.6, respectively (p = 0.004). Conclusions: Nearly all patients with UVFI and glottic insufficiency report associated dysphagia. Three fourths of these patients perceive improvement in their swallowing function after injection medialization laryngoplasty. Patients with idiopathic UVFI may have a more sus-tained improvement and those with severe preop dysphagia may not benefit. Further research is necessary to refine patient selection and to assess duration of improved swallowing function.

Performance evaluation of hybrid constructed wetlands for the treatment of municipal wastewater in developing countries

In developing countries,high cost of conventional wastewater treatment is a major hindrance in its *** wetlands(CWs)offer low-cost and effective solution to this *** current study aimed to evaluate an innovative maneuver of CWs *** flow constructed wetlands(HCWs)for municipal wastewater(mWW).The HCWs included two lab scale CWs;one horizontal and one vertical,in *** plant species were *** were operated in both,batch and continuous *** mode was used to(1)optimize detention time and(2)find pollutants removal *** operation(at batch optimized retention time)was carried out for the evaluation of mass removal rate,r(g·m-2·d-1),volumetric rate constant,Kv(per day)and areal rate constant,Ka(m·d-1).Among two local plants tested,Pistia stratiotes gave better removal efficiency than *** detention time in HCWs was found to be 8 days(4+4 each).The optimum COD,BOD,TSS,TKN and P removal observed for Pistia stratiotes planted HCWs was 80%,84%,82%,71%and88%*** standards for COD,BOD and TSS were met at optimum *** values of Kaand Kv demonstrated that more removal occurred in vertical flow as compared to horizontal flow CW.

An Analogy of Clifford Decomposition Theorem for Abel-Grassmann Groupoids

Let S be an inverse AG-groupoid （Abel-Grassmann groupoid） and define a relation γ on S by aγb if and only if there exist some positive integers n and m such that bm∈ （Sa）S and an∈ （Sb）S. We prove that S/γ is a maximal semilattice homomorphic image of S. Thus, every inverse AG-groupoid S is uniquely expressible as a semilattice Y of some Archimedean inverse AG-groupoids Sα （α∈ Y）. Our result can be regarded as an analogy of the well known Clifford theorem in semigroups for AG-groupoids.

On Semilattice Decomposition of an Abel–Grassmann’s Groupoid

In this paper, we have decomposed an AG-groupoid. Let S be an AG-groupoid with left identity and a relation γ be defined on S as： aγb if and only if there exist positive integers m and n such that b^m∈E （Sa）S and a^n ∈ （Sb）S for all a and b in S. We have proved that S/γ is a maximal separative Semilattice homomorphic image of S. Every AG-groupoid S is uniquely expressible as a semilattice Y of archimedean AG-groupoids Sa （a∈ Y）. The semilattice Y is isomorphic to S/γ and the Sγ （a ∈ Y） are the equivalence classes of S mod V.

Influence of cytokinins, basal media and pH on adventitious shoot regeneration from excised root cultures of Albizia lebbeck

A highly reproducible and efficient in vitro shoot regeneration system was developed in a potential medicinal plant, Albizia lebbeck using root explants. Root explants from 15 day-old-aseptic seedlings were cultured on murashige and Skoog （mS） medium supplemented with different concentrations （0.5, 2.5, 5.0, 7.5 and 10.0 μm） of 6-Benzyladenine （BA）, Kinetin （Kn）, 2-Isopentenyl adenine （2-iP） singly as well as in combination with α-Naphthalene acetic acid （NAA）（0.1, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 μm）. The highest rate of shoot multiplication （16.0 ± 1.87 for the average shoot number and 5.16 ± 0.38 cm for shoot length） was achieved on mS medium supplemented with 7.5 μm BA and 0.5 μm NAA. The effects of medium type, medium strength, pH and subculture on shoot induction and proliferation were also tested. An average of 21.6±2.87 shoots per explants could be obtained following this protocol. Rooting was achieved on microshoots using half strength mS medium with 2.0 μm Indole-3-butyric acid （IBA） after four weeks of culture. The in vitro raised healthy plantlets were successfully established in earthen pots containing garden soil and grown in greenhouse with 〉80% survival rate.

Effect of Sodium metasilicate on Structural, Optical, Dielectric and mechanical Properties of ADP Crystal

For the first time, sodium metasilicate （SmS） doped ammonium dihydrogen phosphate （ADP） crystal was grown by slow evaporation solution technique. The unit cell parameters of grown crystal were deter- mined by means of single crystal X-ray diffraction technique. The qualitative analysis of SmS doped ADP crystal was carried out using energy dispersive X-ray and Fourier transform infrared analysis. The in- crease in optical transparency of doped ADP crystal was ascertained in the range of 200-900 nm using the UV-visible spectral analysis. The vital optical constants were evaluated using the transmittance data to explore various optical device applications of crystal. The assertive influence of SmS on mechanical and dielectric behavior of ADP crystal was investigated by means of Vickers microhardness analysis and dielectric studies, respectively. The enhancement in second harmonic generation （SHG） efficiency of SmS doped ADP crystal with reference to potassium dihydrogen phosphate （KDP） and ADP was confirmed from Kurtz-Perry SHG test. The Kerr lensing nonlinearity in SmS doped ADP crystal was identified by means of Z-scan analysis and the third order nonlinear optical susceptibility （χ3） was found to be 6.19 × 10-5 esu, which vitalizes its application for laser stabilization systems.
