Combinations of metal and lanthanide oxides have been done through casted films for potential medical applications. In this regard, samarium(Ⅲ) oxide/chromium(Ⅲ) oxide/graphene oxide(gO)/polycaprolactone(PCL) based films nano-composites(NCs) were fabricated, pointing their utilization as a biological scaffold for wound dressing purposes. Also, samarium(Ⅲ) oxide and chromium(Ⅲ) oxide have been merged as promising optical constituents due to their unique optical behavior. The structural and compositional examination of the studied NCs was executed by X-ray diffraction(XRD), Raman, and field emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM). The Sm_(2)O_(3)/Cr_(2)O_(3)/gO/PCL NC exhibits a surface with a lower roughness degree owing to the presence of gO. Cr_(2)O_(3)shows size reduction upon gO insertion to reach 1.2 μm as the average grain size, whilst Sm_(2)O_(3)records an average grain size of less than 1 μm. As well, the polymeric nano-compositions exhibit variation in contact angle values that hit 29.76°± 3.52°for Sm_(2)O_(3)/PCL, and 48.62°± 1.37°for Sm_(2)O_(3)/Cr_(2)O_(3)/gO/PCL as the second lowest contact angle. The optical behavior contributes to absorption edge relocation along the x-axis from 1.7 eV for pure PCL, to 2.65 eV for Sm_(2)O_(3)/Cr_(2)O_(3)/gO/PCL. Regarding biological responses, the cell exposed to 2.5 μg/m L of Sm_(2)O_(3)/Cr_(2)O_(3)/gO/PCL shows cell viability of 119.31%, while 5 μg/m L hits 99.6%. Additionally, the resulting cell attachment micrographs show layers of fibroblast tissue, besides the proliferation and growth of cultivated cells. Thus, the Sm_(2)O_(3)/Cr_(2)O_(3)/gO/PCL scaffold provides 3D proliferation of fibroblast cells endorsing the wound healing process.

In the present work,some novel α-amino nitriles were prepared:amino-2-(anthracen-9-yl)acetonitrile(AAN),and 2-(naphthalen-1-yl)-2-((triethoxysilyl)propyl)amino)acetonitrile(Si-AN).With the aid of other organic compounds(3-aminopropyl triethoxysilane“APTES”and tetraethyl orthosilicate“TEOS”),the following carbon nanotubes“CNT”and magnetite“Mag”based adsorbents were prepared:CNT-AAN,Mag-SiO_(2),Mag-SiO_(2)-APTES,Mag-SiO_(2)-*** FT-IR,1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy proved the formation of(C triple bond N)and(NH-)bonds which indicated successful amino nitrile modification of the *** ability of the above-mentioned adsorbents to remove cadmium“Cd(II)”from water was studied at various pH *** modification with AAN reduced Cd(II)uptake,while all Mag modifications increased Cd *** addition of AAN to the extraction medium with CNT sorbent reduced Cd(II)*** addition of TEOS and Si-AN to the extraction medium for Cd(II)removal using Mag was studied where a positive impact was *** on the above experiments,it was decided to use Mag as adsorbent with the addition of Si-AN to the extraction *** optimization recommended pH 8 and Cd:Si-AN molar ratio of 1:*** maximum adsorption capacity towards Cd(II)achieved in this study was 65 mg g^(−1).The method selectivity,re-usability and applicability on well water and tap water samples gave appropriate *** adsorption of Cd(II)on Mag in the presence of Si-AN was fast,endothermic,spontaneous,favored and physi-sorption was predominant.

Uncovering the dominant contribution of intermediate volatility compounds in secondary organic aerosol formation from biomass-burning emissions

Organic vapors from biomass burning are a major source of secondary organic aerosols(SOAs). Previous smog chamber studies found that the SOA contributors in biomass-burning emissions are mainly volatile organic compounds(VOCs). While intermediate volatility organic compounds(IVOCs) are efficient SOA precursors and contribute a considerable fraction of biomass-burning emissions, their contribution to SOA formation has not been directly observed. Here, by deploying a newly-developed oxidation flow reactor to study SOA formation from wood burning, we find that IVOCs can contribute ～70% of the formed SOA, i.e.>2 times more than VOCs. This previously missing SOA fraction is interpreted to be due to the high wall losses of semi-volatile oxidation products of IVOCs in smog chambers. The finding in this study reveals that SOA production from biomass burning is much higher than previously thought, and highlights the urgent need for more research on the IVOCs from biomass burning and potentially other emission sources.

Increasing global water shortages are accelerating the pace of membrane manufacturing,which generates many environmentally harmful *** challenges need a radical rethink of developing innovative membranes that can address freshwater production without generating environmentally harmful *** work utilized the synthesized ultra-long hydroxyapatite(UHA)by the solvothermal method using the green solvent oleic acid in preparing UHA-based forward osmosis *** membranes were developed using different loading ratios of graphene oxide(gO)by vacuum-assisted filtration *** prepared gO/UHA membranes were identified using X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscope,Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy,and X-ray photoelectron *** contact angle and pore size distribution were determined for the obtained gO/UHA *** obtained hierarchical porous structure in the prepared membranes with interconnected channels results in a stable water flux with reverse salt *** best water flux rate of 42±2 L·m^(–2)·h^(–1)was achieved using the 50 mg gO/UHA membrane,which is 3.3 times higher than the pristine membrane,and a reverse salt flux of 67 g·m^(-2)·h^(–1).The obtained results showed a promising capability of a new generation of sustainable inorganic-based membranes that can be utilized in freshwater generation by energy-efficient techniques such as forward osmosis.

The exploration of ethane(C_(2)H_(6))-selective porous materials for the direct production of polymer-grade ethylene(C_(2)H_(4))from a C_(2)H_(6)/C_(2)H_(4) mixture in a single energy-saving adsorption step is of utmost importance but remains a significant ***,developing robust C_(2)H_(6)-selective adsorbents with high C_(2)H_(6) capacity and C_(2)H_(6)/C_(2)H_(4) selectivity is urgently needed for industrial *** this study,we have successfully designed and synthesized two novel calix[4]resorcinarene-based porous organic cages(POCs)named CPOC-501 and *** POCs were formed via a Schiff-base reaction involving face-directed[6+8]condensation between a bowlshaped tetratopic tetraformylcalix[4]resorcinarene and triangular tritopic amine *** using single crystal X-ray crystallography revealed that both cages possess large truncated octahedral cavities with a volume of approximately 6500Å3 and 12 accessible rhombic windows with a side length of approximately 10.5Å.Furthermore,the cages exhibited excellent chemical stability under neutral,acidic,and basic conditions and high Brunauer–Emmett–Teller specific surface areas of up to 2175 m^(2) g^(−1) after *** POCs demonstrated superior adsorption capabilities for C_(2)H_(6) over C_(2)H_(4).Notably,CPOC-502 exhibited a C_(2)H_(6) capacity and C_(2)H_(6)/C_(2)H_(4) selectivity of 83 cm^(3) g^(−1) and 2.83,respectively,surpassing most of the best-performing C_(2)H_(6)-selective porous organic materials reported to ***,breakthrough experiments confirmed that both cages efficiently produced polymer-grade C_(2)H_(4)(>99.9%)directly from the C_(2)H_(6)/C_(2)H_(4) mixture,highlighting their outstanding recyclability.

BACKgROUND The February 6,2023,twin earthquakes in Türkiye caused significant structural damage and a high number of injuries,particularly affecting the spine,which underscores the importance of understanding the distribution and nature of vertebral injuries in disaster *** To investigate the distribution of radiological findings of vertebral injuries in patients referred to a major tertiary center during the February 6,2023 twin earthquakes in Tü*** With the approval of the institutional ethics committee,1216 examinations of 238 patients transferred from the region to a tertiary major hospital after the twin earthquakes of February 6,2023,were retrospectively analyzed for spine *** Spine computed tomography(CT)scans were performed in 192 of 238 patients with a suspected spinal injury,42 of whom also had an magnetic resonance imaging(MRI).In 86 of 192 patients(44.79%;M:F=33:53)a spinal fracture was detected on CT and in 33 of 42 patients(78.57%;M:F=20:13)a spinal injury was found on *** the 86 patients in whom vertebral injury was detected,fractures were detected in the Denis-B group in 33,Denis-C in 4,Denis-D in 20 and Denis-E in 11 *** the vertebral bodies:40"compression fractures",17"burst fractures",5"translational dislocation fractures",5"flexion-distraction fractures"and 58"prolonged forced fetal posture fractures"were *** addition,isolated transverse or spinous process fractures were found in eighteen *** Our study highlights the prevalence and diverse spectrum of spinal injuries following the February 6,2023 twin earthquakes in Turkey underscoring the urgent need for effective management strategies in similar disaster scenarios,and emphasizing the"prolonged forced fetal posture"damage we encountered in earthquake victims who remained under the collapse for a long time.
