The acid-base properties of 1-（2-thiazolylazo）-2-naphthol （TAN） in mixtures of methanol-water at 25℃ and an ionic strength of 0.1 mol/L are studied by a multi-wavelength spectrophotometfic method. The acidity constants of all related equilibria are estimated using the whole spectral fitting of the collected data to an established factor analysis model. DATAN program was used for determination of acidity constants. The corresponding pka values in methanol-water mixtures were determined. There is a linear relationship between acidity constants and the mole fraction of methanol in the solvent mixtures.

A quantitative structure-activity relationships （QSAR） study is suggested for the prediction of solubility of some thiazolidine-4- carboxylic acid derivatives in aqueous solution. Ab initio theory was used to calculate some quantum chemical descriptors including electrostatic potentials and local charges at each atom, HOMO and LUMO energies, etc. Modeling of the solubility of thiazolidine- 4-carboxylic acid derivatives as a function of molecular structures was established by means of the partial least squares （PLS）. The subset of descriptors, which resulted in the low prediction error, was selected by genetic algorithm. This model was applied for the prediction of the solubility of some thiazolidine-4-carboxylic acid derivatives, which were not in the modeling procedure. The relative errors of prediction lower that -4% was obtained by using GA-PLS method. The resulted model showed high prediction ability with RMSEP of 3.8836 and 2.9500 for PLS and GA-PLS models, respectively.

Liquid storage,particularly oil and petrochemical products which are considered hazardous liquid,are an important part of the oil ***-walled vertical cylindrical steel storage tanks are widely used in recent *** to high sensitivity of these structures in an earthquake and other external excitations may lead to catastrophic *** instance,huge economic losses,environmental damages,and casualities,many studies have been done about these *** studies showed that liquid storage tanks,equipped with a floating roof,are potentially vulnerable while subjected to seismic loads and earthquake has been considered as one of the most destructive natural *** reason is that such tanks are made of two separated parts(shell and roof)which each may have its own responses;sometimes causing resonance phenomenon and so that,roof movements,rooffluid interaction,roof-shell interaction,and also the way they are attached should still be *** tests of floating roof’s vertical fluctuation was performed in a full-scale reservoir tank and assessing of the results demonstrated that presence of a seal between floating roof and shell plate can significantly increase damping ratio in liquid sloshing and also suppress the roof`s vertical *** other words,seal can control a floating roof and make it stop moving vertically over few cycles.

Naturally fractured carbonate reservoirs have very low oil recovery efficiency owing to their wettability and tightness of ***,smart water can enhance oil recovery by changing the wettability of the carbonate rock surface from oilwet to water-wet,and the addition of surfactants can also change surface *** the present study,the effects of a solution of modified seawater with some surfactants,namely C12 TAB,SDS,and TritonX-100(TX-100),on the wettability of carbonate rock were investigated through contact angle *** recovery was studied using spontaneous imbibition tests at 25,70,and 90°C,followed by thermal gravity analysis to measure the amount of adsorbed material on the carbonate *** results indicated that Ca2+,Mg2+,and SO42-.ions may alter the carbonate rock wettability from oil-wet to water-wet,with further water wettability obtained at higher concentrations of the ions in modified *** of NaCl from the imbibing fluid resulted in a reduced contact angle and significantly enhanced oil *** oil recoveries were obtained with modified seawater at 25 and 70°C,but once the temperature was increased to 90°C,the oil recovery in the spontaneous imbibition experiment increased *** of smart water with C12 TAB surfactant at 0.1 wt%changed the contact angle from 161°to 52°and enhanced oil recovery to 72%,while the presence of the anionic surfactant SDS at 0.1 wt%in the smart water increased oil recovery to 64.5%.The TGA analysis results indicated that the adsorbed materials on the carbonate surface were minimal for the solution containing seawater with C12 TAB at 0.1 wt%(SW+CTAB(0.1 wt%)).Based on the experimental results,a mechanism was proposed for wettability alteration of carbonate rocks using smart water with SDS and C12 TAB surfactants.

AiM: To compare the clinical outcomes of a variety of multifocal intraocular lenses(MiOLs) in patients diagnosed with presbyopia or cataracts. METHODS: This clinical trial study included 141 patients(282 eyes) with different MiOLs implantation. The Symfony(60 eyes), the Re STOR(100 eyes), the AT LiSAtri(60 eyes), and the Pan Optix(62 eyes) intraocular lenses were evaluated in this prospective interventional study. The near, intermediate, and distant visual acuities, contrast sensitivity, and defocus curve were measured as valid criteria. To statistically analyze the results, we used the Statistical Package for Social Science software, the non-parametric Wilcoxon signed-rank t, the one-way analysis of variance and the Tukey’s post-hoc test in our analysis. Moreover, we conducted a detailed literature search on the Pub Med database in English about MiOLs, in total 59 studies were included in this review ***: The four approaches did not show any significant difference in the best-corrected distance visual acuity(P>0.05). The defocus curves at the contrast of 100% showed that trifocal iOLs had better intermediate performance than the bifocal iOL(Pistically significant differences between AT LiSAtri and Pan Optix lenses for visual acuity at all distances. The eyes with Pan Optix, Symfony, and AT LiSAtri iOL showed better contrast sensitivity than those Re STOR at spatial frequencies of 1, 3, and 6 cpd in photopic and mesopic conditions(PiON: All four groups of the multifocal lenses were satisfying in terms of distance and near vision. Also, the group of trifocal lenses led to satisfactory outcomes in intermediate vision, without degradation in quality of vision.

Biochar(BC)has gained attention for removal of toxic elements(TEs)from aqueous media;however,pristine biochar often exhibits low adsorption ***,various modification strategies in BC have been developed to improve its removal capability against *** zero-valent iron(nZVi)and iron oxides(FeOx)have been used as sorbents for TE ***,these materials are prone to agglomeration and also expensive,which make their usage limited for large-scale *** nZVi technical demerits could be resolved by the development of BC-based composite sorbents through the loading of nZVi or FeOx onto BC *** zero-valent iron modified BC(nZViBC),FeOx-modified BC(FeOxBC)have attracted attention for their capability in removing pollutants from the aqueous ***,a potential use of nZViBC and FeOxBC for TE removal from aqueous environments has not been well-realized or *** such,this article reviews:(i)the preparation and characterization of nZViBC and FeOxBC;(ii)the capacity of nZViBC and FeOxBC for TE retention in line with their physicochemical properties,and(iii)TE removal mechanisms by nZViBC and *** nZVi and FeOx in BC increases its sporptive capability of TEs due to surface modifications in morphology,functional groups,and elemental *** combined effects of BC and nZVi,FeOx or Fe salts on the sorption of TEs are complex because they are very specific to *** review identified significant opportunities for research and technol-ogy advancement of nZViBC and FeOxBC as novel and effective sorbents for the remediation of TEs contaminated water.

This work reports the spectrophotometric simultaneous determination of zinc（Ⅱ）, manganese（Ⅱ） and iron（Ⅱ） in pharmaceutical preparation, using orthogonal signal correctionpartial least squares （OSC-PLS）. All the factors affecting on the sensitivity were optimized and the linear dynamic range for determination of these metals was found. The PLS modeling was used for the multivariate calibration of the spectrophotometric data. The OSC was used for preprocessing of data matrices and the prediction results of model. The experimental calibration matrix was designed by measuring the absorbance over the range 450-570 nm for 21 samples of 0.05-1.05, 0.10-1.10 and 0.05-1.05μg·mL^-1 of zinc（Ⅱ）, manganese（Ⅱ） and iron（Ⅱ）, respectively. The RMSEP for zinc（Ⅱ）, manganese（Ⅱ） and iron（Ⅱ） using OSC-PLS were 0.0164, 0.0132, 0.0146, respectively. The proposed method was successfully applied the determination of zinc（Ⅱ）, manganese（Ⅱ） and iron（Ⅱ） in pharmaceutical preparations.

infectious diseases caused by arboviruses are a public health concern in ***,studies on data prevalence and threats posed by arboviruses are *** study investigated the seroprevalence of arboviruses in a healthy population in Pakistan,including severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus(SFTSV),Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus(CCHFV),Tamdy virus(TAMV),and karshi virus(kSiV)based on a newly established luciferase immunoprecipitation system(LiPS)assays,and Zika virus(ZikV)by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays(ELiSA).Neutralizing activities against these arboviruses were further examined from the antibody positive *** results showed that the seroprevalence of SFTSV,CCHFV,TAMV,kSiV,and ZikV was 17.37%,7.58%,4.41%,1.10%,and 6.48%,respectively,and neutralizing to SFTSV(1.79%),CCHFV(2.62%),and ZikV(0.69%)were identified,as well as to the SFTSV-related Guertu virus(GTV,0.83%).Risk factors associated with the incidence of exposure and levels of antibody response were ***,co-exposure to different arboviruses was demonstrated,as thirty-seven individuals were having antibodies against multiple viruses and thirteen showed neutralizing ***,individuals aged40 years,and outdoor workers had a high risk of exposure to *** these results reveal the substantial risks of infection with arboviruses in Pakistan,and indicate the threat from co-exposure to multiple *** findings raise the need for further epidemiologic investigation in expanded regions and populations and the necessity to improve health surveillance in Pakistan.
