Solute transport and geochemical modeling of the coastal quaternary aquifer, Delta Dahab Basin, South Sinai, Egypt

The wadi dahab delta is in a dry, arid coastal zone within Egypt’s south Sinai Peninsula’s eastern portion. The primary water source is the Quaternary coastal alluvial aquifer. The groundwater salinity varies from 890to 8213 mg/L, with a mean value of 3417 mg/L. The dissolved major ions have been used to calculate the seawater mixing index(SWmI) using a linear equation that discriminates the groundwater mostly affected by water–rock interaction(SWmI 1>) and other samples mixed with Seawater(SWmI mposition of groundwater for specifically chosen groundwater samples ranges from-0.645‰ to +5.212‰ for δ^(18)O and from-9.582‰ to + 22.778‰ for δ^(2)H, where the seawater represented by a Red Sea water sample(δ^(18)O + 1.64‰-δ^(2)H + 9.80‰) and reject brine water are considerably enriched the isotopic groundwater values. The geochemical NETPATH model constrained by the dissolved significant ions, isotopes, and the rock aquifer forming minerals as phases indicate the mixing percent with the seawater ranges from 9% to 97% of seawater from 91% to 3% of original recharge water. According to the SEAWAT 3-D flow models, seawater has penetrated the Northeastern Dahab delta aquifer, with the intrusion zone extending1500 m inland. The salt dissolution, upwelling of saline water, recharge from the upstream mountain block, and seawater encroachment are the primary aspects contributing to the deterioration of groundwater quality. These findings may have significance for effective groundwater withdrawal management in arid locations worldwide with similar hydrogeological systems.

Thyroid hormones play essential roles in spermatogenesis,but their effects on infertile males remain poorly *** study aimed to evaluate the impact of combining carbimazole(CBZ)with vitamin E(VE)on testicular injury induced by experimental hyperthyroidism in adult albino rats,focusing on oxidative,inflammatory,and apoptotic *** this experimental study,64 adult male albino Wistar rats were divided into eight groups:Group I(control-untreated),Group II(CBZ-control),Group III(VE-control),Group IV(CBZ+VE-control),Group V(levothyroxine-induced testicular injury),Group VI(levothyroxine+CBZ-treated),Group VII(levothyroxine+VE-treated),and Group VIII(levothyroxine+CBZ+VE-treated).The study was conducted in the Faculty of medicine,Suez Canal University(Ismailia,Egypt).After cervical decapitation,both testes and epididymis were examined histopathologically and *** differences were observed among groups concerning malondialdehyde(mDA),glutathione(GSH),superoxide dismutase(SOD),and catalase(CAT;all Pmerase chain reaction analysis showed significant differences in tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),interleukin-10(IL-10),Bcl-2-associated X protein(BAX),B-cell lymphoma 2 protein(Bcl2),p53,Caspase-3,Caspase-8,Caspase-9,and nuclear factor-kappa B(NF-κB)mRNA levels(all Pminiferous tubules and ***,the Group VIII showed improved spermatogenesis and a decrease in testicular side *** addition of VE to the treatment of hyperthyroid rats with CBZ reduced testicular side effects and seminiferous tubular affection when potentially improving *** research is needed to elucidate the underlying mechanisms fully.

Planning Target Volume margin in Linac-Based Stereotactic Radiosurgery for Brain metastases

Background: The treatment of brain metastases with radiotherapy has shifted to the use of Stereotactic Radio-surgery (SRS). The technical issue of expanding the treatment volume around the Gross Tumor Volume (GTV) is a current debate. Radiotherapy centers use variable GTV-PTV margins, ranging from one to 2 mm. material and methods: We performed a dosimetric comparison in plans of twenty patients using three margins: PTV zero, PTV1, and PTV2. We also developed imaginary Peel volumes. These volumes are described as follows: Peel1 = PTV1 − GTV, Peel2 = PTV2 − GTV. Results: Our results showed that the mean PTV volume differed significantly across the different margins (p = 0.000). The V12 of the brain significantly varied as a function of PTV margin (p = 0.000). The target coverage and plan quality indices were not significantly different. The Peel volume dosimetric analysis showed that the mean dose was significantly higher in the nearby normal brain tissue: Peel1 (p = 0.022) and Peel 2 (p = 0.013). Conclusion: According to our dosimetric analysis, expanding the GTV into a PTV by 1 mm margin is more convenient than 2 mm.

Geotectonic significance of the Neoproterozoic ophiolitic metagabbros of muiswirab area,South Eastern Desert,Egypt:constraints from their mineralogical and geochemical characteristics

Petrological and geochemical studies of Neo-proterozoic metagabbros were carried out in the muiswirab area,South Eastern Desert of *** muiswirab area comprises of ophiolitic metagabbroic rocks(mOm),which are tectonically thrusted over a thick pile of metavolcanic rocks and intruded by syn-and post-tectonic granitoid *** whole-rock geochemical variations coupled with chemical compositions of mineral constituents are used to attain the genesis and tectonic evolution of the studied *** geothermobarometric investiga-tion of the analyzed amphiboles from(mOm)revealed that these metagabbros underwent regional metamorphism under lower to upper greenschist facies(biotite zone)conditions(at a temperature of 450 to 500℃and pressure of 1-3 kbar).Geochemically,the metagabbros(mOm)show tholeiitic affinity and cxhibiting both arc-and mORB-like characters as evidenced by their clinopyrox-ene compositions and the Ti/V ratios(11.84-31.65),which considered as prominent features of forearc tectonic *** geochemical features suggest a probable fractionation of olivine±clinopyroxene±plagioclase as well as insignificant crustal *** parental magma of the investigated mOm rocks seems to be developed in a sub-arc mantle wedge setting due to the enrichments of LILE(e.g..Rb,Ba,Sr,Pb)over HFSE(e.g,Ti,Nb,Y,Zr,Hf,Ta).The studied mOm rocks have lower values of Nb/U relative to mORB and OIB indicating that their geochemical variation produced due to the enrichment of a lithosphere mantle by OIB like *** ratios of Zn/Fet,La/Sm,Sm/Yb,Th/Yb and Nb/Yb indicate that the mOm rocks represent a fragment of oceanic crust originated at a supra-subduction zone environment and their parental magma developed by 5-30%partial melting of a spinel lherzolite mantle rather than pyroxenite in an island arc setting and conformable with most of the Egyptian ophiolitic metagabbros.

Constraints of mantle and Crustal Sources Interaction during Orogenesis of Pre-and Post-collision Granitoids from the Northern Arabian-Nubian Shield:A Case Study from Wadi El-Akhder Granitoids,Southern Sinai,Egypt

The Egyptian older and younger granitic rocks emplaced during pre-and post-collision stages of Neoproterozoic Pan-African orogeny,respectively,are widely distributed in the southern Sinai Peninsula,constituting 70% of the basement *** Wadi El-Akhder,southwestern Sinai,is a mountainous terrain exposing two granitoid suites,namely the Wadi El-Akhder Older Granites(AOG)and the Homra Younger Granites(HYG).The AOG(granodiorites with subordinate tonalite compositions)have geochemical characteristics of medium-K calc-alkaline,metaluminous to mildly peraluminous granitoids formed in an island-arc environment,which are conformable with well-known Egyptian older granitoids rocks,whereas the HYG display calc-alkaline to slightly alkaline nature,peraluminous syeno-,monzogranites and alkali feldspar granites matching well those of the Egyptian younger *** respect to the AOG granitoids,the HYG granites contain lower Al_(2)O_(3),FeO^(*),mgO,mnO,CaO,TiO_(2),Sr,Ba,and V,but higher Na_(2)O,K_(2)O,Nb,Zr,Th,and *** AOG are generally characterized by enrichment in LILE and LREE and depletion in HFSE relative to N-mORB values(e.g.,negative Nb and Ta anomalies).The geochemical features of the AOG follow assimilation-fractional crystallization(AFC)trends indicative of extensive crustal contamination of magma derived from a mantle *** chemical characteristics of the AOG are remarkably similar to those of subduction-related granitoids from the ArabianNubian Shield(ANS).The compositional variations from monzogranites through syenogranites to alkali feldspar granite within HYG could not be explained by fractional crystallization *** the whole-rock composition of the HYG to melts generated by experimental dehydration melting of meta-sedimentary and magmatic rocks reveals that they appear to be derived by extended melting of psammitic and pelitic metasediments,which is similar to the most of younger granitic suites in the ANS.

Interstitial cells of Cajal (ICC) are important players in the symphony of gut motility. They have a very signif icant physiological role orchestrating the normal peristaltic activity of the digestive system. They are the pacemaker cells in gastrointestinal (GI) muscles. Absence, reduction in number or altered integrity of the ICC network may have a dramatic effect on GI system motility. more understanding of ICC physiology will foster advances in physiology of gut motility which will help in a future breakthrough in the pharmacological interventions to restore normal motor function of GI tract. This mini review describes what is known about the physiologic function and role of ICCs in GI system motility and in a variety of GI system motility disorders.

Framework for COVID-19 Segmentation and Classification Based on Deep Learning of Computed Tomography Lung Images

Corona Virus Disease 2019(COVID-19) has affected millions of people worldwide and caused more than6.3 million deaths(World Health Organization, June 2022). Increased attempts have been made to develop deep learning methods to diagnose COVID-19 based on computed tomography(CT) lung images. It is a challenge to reproduce and obtain the CT lung data, because it is not publicly available. This paper introduces a new generalized framework to segment and classify CT images and determine whether a patient is tested positive or negative for COVID-19 based on lung CT images. In this work, many different strategies are explored for the classification ***50 and VGG16 models are applied to classify CT lung images into COVID-19 positive or negative. Also,VGG16 and ReNet50 combined with U-Net, which is one of the most used architectures in deep learning for image segmentation, are employed to segment CT lung images before the classifying process to increase system performance. moreover, the image size dependent normalization technique(ISDNT) and Wiener filter are utilized as the preprocessing techniques to enhance images and noise suppression. Additionally, transfer learning and data augmentation techniques are performed to solve the problem of COVID-19 CT lung images deficiency, therefore the over-fitting of deep models can be avoided. The proposed frameworks, which comprised of end-to-end, VGG16,ResNet50, and U-Net with VGG16 or ResNet50, are applied on the dataset that is sourced from COVID-19 lung CT images in Kaggle. The classification results show that using the preprocessed CT lung images as the input for U-Net hybrid with ResNet50 achieves the best performance. The proposed classification model achieves the 98.98%accuracy(ACC), 98.87% area under the ROC curve(AUC), 98.89% sensitivity(Se), 97.99 % precision(Pr), 97.88%F-score, and 1.8974-seconds computational time.

Comparison of the effect of carbon,halloysite and titania nanotubes on the mechanical and thermal properties of LDPE based nanocomposite films

In this study, titania nanotubes （TNTs） were prepared by hydrothermal method with the aim to compare the properties of these one-dimensional tubular nanostructures＇ reinforced nanocomposites with the carbon and halloysite nanotubes＇（CNTs and HNTs, respectively） reinforced nanocomposites. Low density polyethylene （LDPE） was used as the matrix material. The prepared nanocomposites were characterized and compared by means of their morphological, mechanical and thermal properties. SEm results showed enhanced interracial interaction and better dispersion of TNTs and HNTs into LDPE with the incorporation of a mAPE compatibilizer, however, these interactions seem to be absent between CNTs and LDPE, and the CNTs remained agglomerated. Contact angle measurements revealed that CNT filled nanocomposites are more hydrophilic than HNT composites, and less than TNT composites. CNTs provided better tensile strength and Young＇s modulus than HNT and TNT nanocomposites, a 42% increase in tensile strength and Young＇s modulus is achieved compared to LDPE. Tear strength improvement was noticed in the TNT composites with a value of 35.4 N. mm -1, compared to CNT composites with a value of 25.5 *** 1 -s- 1. All the prepared nanocomposites are more thermally stable than neat LDPE and the best improvement in thermal stability was observed for CNT reinforced nanocomposites. CNTs depicted the best improvement in tensile and thermal properties and the mAPE compatibilizer effective- ness regarding morphological, mechanical and thermal properties was only observed for TNT and HNT systems.

Introduction:Toxic epidermal necrolysis(TEN)is a medical emergency that most commonly occurs as an adverse effect of certain ***,we describe a case of a 41-year-old man with no comorbid illness who developed *** presentation:The patient had been prescribed ibuprofen for myalgia and developed skin lesions after the single *** lesions were erythematous papules and macules distributed all over the body after ibuprofen *** was diagnosed based on the patient’s clinical presentation and laboratory *** was treated with intravenous dexamethasone,intravenous immunoglobulin,and *** dressing changes and skin care was done with saline,chlorhexidine,and liquid *** patient was intubated and tracheostomized,and he gradually improved and ***,he developed septicemia in the intensive care unit and was treated ***:The management of TEN includes cessation of the causative cause,multidisciplinary intensive care unit(ICU)care,prevention and early detection of sepsis,fluid and electrolyte balance,adequate analgesia and temperature control,proper organ support,aggressive nutritional management,and good psychological *** pharmacological therapy for TEN includes corticosteroids,intravenous immunoglobulin,and *** key elements of management are aseptic care and proper dressing of the ***:TEN is associated with high mortality if not managed in a systemic and protocolized way.
