The study focuses on the physico-chemical characteritics of the wild fruit Meyna laxiflora Robyns(Alu)and fruit powder,which was gathered from the Konkan region of Maharashtra Alu fruit powder is made by using a drying aid called maltodextrin(MD).Powder samples(MP1,MP2,MP3,MP4 and MP5)were made using different amounts of MD(05,10,15,2.0 and 2.5 g).Preliminary phytochemical screening of fnuit pulp and powder showed the presence of some phytoconstituents such as reducing sugar,saponin,flavonoids,and terpenoids,whereas akaloids,tannins,steroids and protein were absent in *** parameters of the powder are durectly infuenced by the amount of MD,as evidenced by the variations in bulk density,total soluble solids,pH,specific gravity and the proximate among the powder *** solubility was found in the sample with a medium of *** highest of particle distribution was found in MD-added samples MP2(1 g),MP3(1.5 g),MP4(2 g)whereas the raw(MPO)showed the *** analysis was done using 9-point hedonic scale,which revealed that MP2,MP3,and MP4 were highly *** study assumed that fresh Alu fuit,palp and in the form of powder can be useful for the development of new products.

Garcinia Kola and Kolaviron Attenuates Bisphenol A-Induced Memory Impairment and Hippocampal Neuroinflammation in Male Wistar Rats

Bisphenol A (BPA), a toxicant which can leach into food from plastic containers, is reported to induce neurotoxicity among others via oxidative mechanisms. However, antioxidant compounds have been suggested to mitigate BPA-induced toxicities. Garcinia kola (GK) and its bioactive compound, kolaviron, are well-established natural antioxidants, which can exert protective effects against BPA-induced toxicities. This study was designed to investigate the likely mitigating effect of GK and kolaviron on BPA-induced memory impairment and hippocampal neuroinflammation in male Wistar rats. Thirty-five rats were equally grouped and treated as follows: I and II received distilled water and corn oil, respectively at 0.2 mL, while III - VII received BPA (50 mg/kg), BPA + GK (200 mg/kg), BPA + kolaviron (200 mg/kg), GK and kolaviron, respectively for 28 days p.o. Thereafter, behavioral studies were done using the Novel Object Recognition and Y maze tests. Subsequently under anaesthesia, the hippocampus in each animal was dissected out, homogenized and analysed for malondialdehyde, superoxide dismutase, catalase, reduced glutathione, glutathione transferase, nitrites, interleukin-6, tumour necrosis factor-α, acetylcholinesterase, glutamate acid decarboxylase, and arginase activity. Data were analyzed by ANOVA and Tukey Post-hoc test at p p Garcinia kola and Kolaviron mitigate bisphenol A-induced memory impairment and neuroinflammation via antioxidant potentiation and neurotransmitter balance.

Influence of Temperature-Dependent Thermophysical Properties of TiO2-SiO2-ZnO-Fe2O3/PAO Tetra-Hybrid Nanofluid along a Vertical Porous Surface with Suction

The significance of the thermophysical properties of Tetra hybrid nanofluid in enhancing heat transmission in various applications like heat exchangers, automobiles, and solar storage cannot be overstated. These features can be tampered with when nanoparticles are been introduced into the base fluid to produce an improved heat carrier fluid for the system. This study investigates the impact of temperature-dependent properties on the movement of TiO2-SiO2-ZnO-Fe2O3/PAO Tetra hybrid nanofluid along a vertical porous surface with suction. The system of governing Partial Differential Equations (PDEs) was formulated and transformed into the system of coupled nonlinear third-order Ordinary Differential Equations (ODEs) by similarity techniques. The resulting ODEs were solved numerically using the shooting method and fourth order Runge-Kutta method with the aid of Maple 18.0 software. Using numerical and statistical methods, the study analyzes velocity, temperature profiles, skin friction coefficient, and Nusselt number. It was found that as the variable thermal conductivity parameter upsurges both the skin friction coefficient and Nusselt number intensify at the rate of 0.011697519 and 8.043581616 respectively. This study underscores the vital role of Tetra hybrid nanofluid’s thermophysical properties in improving heat transmission for diverse appli cations. By manipulating nanoparticles within the base fluid, the heat carrier fluid’s efficiency can be enhanced, critical for industries like automotive and enewable energy. These insights inform the design of more efficient heat exchange systems, advancing sustainability and performance in real-world scenarios.

Spreading depression and focal venous cerebral ischemia enhance cortical neurogenesis

Endogenous neurogenesis can arise from a variety of physiological stimuli including exercise, learning, or ＂enriched environment＂ as well as pathological conditions such as ischemia, epilepsy or cortical spreading depression. Whether all these conditions use a common trigger to set off endogenous neurogenesis is yet unclear. We hypothesized that cortical spreading depression（CSD） induces neurogenesis in the cerebral cortex and dentate gyrus after cerebral venous ischemia. Forty-two Wistar rats alternatively underwent sham operation（Sham）, induction of ten CSDs or venous ischemia provoked via occlusion of two adjacent superficial cortical vein followed by ten induced CSDs（CSD ＋ 2-VO）. As an additional control, 15 na？ve rats received no intervention except 5-bromo-2′-deoxyuridine（Brd U） treatment for 7 days. Sagittal brain slices（40 μm thick） were co-stained for Brd U and doublecortin（DCX; new immature neuronal cells） on day 9 or Neu N（new mature neuronal cells） on day 28. On day 9 after sham operation, cell proliferation and neurogenesis occurred in the cortex in rats. The sole induction of CSD had no effect. But on days 9 and 28, more proliferating cells and newly formed neurons in the ipsilateral cortex were observed in rats subjected to CSD ＋ 2VO than in rats subjected to sham operation. On days 9 and 28, cell proliferation and neurogenesis in the ipsilateral dentate gyrus was increased in sham-operated rats than in na？ve rats. Our data supports the hypothesis that induced cortical neurogenesis after CSD ＋ 2-VO is a direct effect of ischemia, rather than of CSD alone.

PD-L1 and PD-L2 expression correlated genes in non-small-cell lung cancer

Metallurgical Studies of Austenitic Stainless Steel 304 under Warm Deep Drawing

Austenitic stainless steel 304 was deep drawn with different blank diameters under warm conditions using 20 t hydraulic press. A number of deep drawing experiments both at room temperature and at 150 ℃ were conducted to study the metallography. Also, tensile test experiments were conducted on a universal testing machine up to 700 ℃ and the broken specimens were used to study the fractography of the material using scanning electron microscopy in various regions. The microstructure changes were observed at limiting draw ratio （LDR） when the cup is drawn at different temperatures. In austenitic stainless steel, martensite formation takes place that is not only affected by temperature, hut also influenced by the rate at which the material is deformed. In austenitic stainless steel 304, dynamic strain regime appears above 300 ℃ and it decreases the formability of material due to brittle fracture as studied in its fractography. From the metallographic studies, the maximum LDR of the material is observed at 150 ℃ before dynamic strain regime. It is also observed that at 150 ℃, grains are coarse in the drawn cups at LDR.

Traditional medicine use during pregnancy and labor in African context:A scoping review

Traditional medicine(TM)has been more popular among pregnant women worldwide and has played a significant part in maternal health-care services in many ***,herbal preparations,and finished herbal products all contain active substances that are derived from plant parts or other plant components that are thought to have medicinal *** diagnose,prevent,and treat illnesses as well as to enhance general well-being,about 80%of people use a variety of TM,including herbal remedies.A systematic search of Google Scholar and PubMed was performed utilizing an established scoping review framework by Joanna Briggs Institute from January 2012 to December 2022.A consequent title and abstract review of articles published on TM in the African context were *** over 15,000 published studies identified,15 meeting the inclusion criteria were integrated into the following seven categorical themes:prevalence of TM use,source of information on TM use,reasons for use of TM,route of administration,common herbs used in pregnancy and labor,the effect of herbs used in pregnancy and labor,and predictors of use of *** studies reviewed were primarily in the context of an African setting on the use of TM regarding herbal *** all the articles,the highest number of studies was conducted in *** review shows increased use of TM by women during pregnancy and labor with a reported prevalence rate varying from 12%to 60%.However,a decrease in use in the third trimester of pregnancy was *** most frequent source of information on the use of TM was from family and friends,while age,parity,education,and income were factors affecting *** conclusion,the participants do not often disclose the use of TM during their antenatal attendance and the reason for use was accessibility and ***,there is a need for further study on the safety and efficacy of TM use in pregnancy and labor.

Monitoring biofouling based on aerobic respiration in reverse osmosis system

A monitoring method of biofouling in reverse osmosis(RO) system was proposed based on the fluorescent signal of resorufin, which is reduced by nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide released from viable cells during aerobic respiration. The fluorescent signal of resorufin reduced by planktonic cells and microorganisms of biofilm showed linearity, indicating its feasibility to monitor biofouling in a RO system. For the application of the method to the lab-scale RO system, the injection concentration of resazurin and the injection flow rate were optimized. Biofilm on RO membranes continuously operated in a lab-scale RO system was estimated by resorufin fluorescence under optimized detection condition. As a result,resorufin fluorescence on RO membrane showed a significant increase in which the permeability of RO system decreased by 30.48%. Moreover, it represented the development of biofilm as much as conventional biofilm parameters such as adenosine triphosphate,extracellular polymeric substances, and biofilm thickness. The proposed method could be used as a sensitive and low-cost technology to monitor biofouling without autopsy of membranes.
