Understanding poromechanical response of a biogenic coalbed methane reservoir

Biogenic coalbed methane(BCBM)reservoirs aim to produce methane from in situ coal deposits following microbial conversion of *** of BCBM reservoirs requires economic methane production within an acceptable *** work reported here quantifies the findings of previously published qualitative work,where it was found that bioconversion induces strains in the pore,matrix and bulk *** imaging and dynamic strain monitoring techniques,the bioconversion induced strain is quantified *** understand the effect of these strains from a reservoir geomechanics perspective,a corresponding poromechanical model is ***,findings of imaging experiments are validated using core-flooding flow ***,expected field-scale behavior of the permeability response of a BCBM operation is modeled and *** results of the study indicated that,for Illinois coals,bioconversion induced strains result in a decrease in fracture porosity,resulting in a detrimental permeability drop in excess of 60%during bioconversion,which festers itself exponentially throughout its producing *** indicate that reservoirs with high initial permeability that will support higher Darcian flowrates,would be better suited for coal bioconversion,thereby providing a site-selection criteria for BCBM operations.

In the quest for the development of thermally stable,highly active and low-cost catalysts for use in catalyzed diesel particulate filter,nano-composites are new areas of ***,we reported the easy synthesis of spinel NiCo_(2)O_(4)/perovskite LaCoO_(3) nano-composite,and its individual oxides NiCo_(2)O_(4)and LaCoO_(3) for *** detailed insights into the physio-chemical characteristics of formed NiCo_(2)O_(4)/LaCoO_(3) nano-composite were done based on various characterization analysis such as X-ray diffraction(XRD),Fourier transform infrared(FT-IR),N_(2) physiosorption,scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive spectroscopy(SEM-EDX),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS).The characterization analysis of NiCo_(2)O_(4)/LaCoO_(3) revealed the successful formation of a chemical interface possessing strong interfacial interaction,resulting in desirable physicochemical characteristics such as small crystallite size,abundant mesoporosity,high specific surface area and activation of surface lattice *** to the desirable characteristics,the activity results over NiCo_(2)O_(4)/LaCoO_(3) nano-composite showed the excellent CO oxidation performance and high soot oxidation activity,recyclability and thermal *** work mainly attempts to emphasize the effectiveness of the facile,inexpensive and conventionally used precipitation method for the successful formation of highly efficient nano-composites.

Molecular Dynamics(MD)simulation for computing Interatomic Potential(IAP)is a very important High-Performance Computing(HPC)*** simulation on particles of experimental relevance takes huge computation time,despite using an expensive high-end *** computing,a combination of the Field Programmable Gate Array(FPGA)and a computer,is proposed as a solution to compute MD simulation *** such heterogeneous computation,communication between FPGA and Computer is *** such MD simulation,explained in the paper,is the(Artificial Neural Network)ANN-based IAP computation of gold(Au_(147)&Au_(309))*** simulation calculates the forces between atoms and the total energy of the chemical *** work proposes the novel design and implementation of an ANN IAP-based MD simulation for Au_(147)&Au_(309) using communication protocols,such as Universal Asynchronous Receiver-Transmitter(UART)and Ethernet,for communication between the FPGA and the host *** improve the latency of MD simulation through heterogeneous computing,Universal Asynchronous Receiver-Transmitter(UART)and Ethernet communication protocols were explored to conduct MD simulation of 50,000 *** this study,computation times of 17.54 and 18.70 h were achieved with UART and Ethernet,respectively,compared to the conventional server time of 29 h for Au_(147) *** results pave the way for the development of a Lab-on-a-chip application.

Fast and Accurate Predictor-Corrector Methods Using Feedback-Accelerated Picard Iteration for Strongly Nonlinear Problems

Although predictor-corrector methods have been extensively applied,they might not meet the requirements of practical applications and engineering tasks,particularly when high accuracy and efficiency are necessary.A novel class of correctors based on feedback-accelerated Picard iteration(FAPI)is proposed to further enhance computational *** optimal feedback terms that do not require inversion of matrices,significantly faster convergence speed and higher numerical accuracy are achieved by these correctors compared with their counterparts;however,the computational complexities are comparably *** advantages enable nonlinear engineering problems to be solved quickly and accurately,even with rough initial guesses from elementary *** proposed method offers flexibility,enabling the use of the generated correctors for either bulk processing of collocation nodes in a domain or successive corrections of a single node in a finite difference *** our method,the functional formulas of FAPI are discretized into numerical forms using the collocation *** collocated iteration formulas can directly solve nonlinear problems,but they may require significant computational resources because of the manipulation of *** address this,the collocated iteration formulas are further converted into finite difference forms,enabling the design of lightweight predictor-corrector algorithms for real-time *** generality of the proposed method is illustrated by deriving new correctors for three commonly employed finite-difference approaches:the modified Euler approach,the Adams-Bashforth-Moulton approach,and the implicit Runge-Kutta ***,the updated approaches are tested in solving strongly nonlinear problems,including the Matthieu equation,the Duffing equation,and the low-earth-orbit tracking *** numerical findings confirm the computational accuracy and efficiency of the derived predictor-correc

The present research work attempted to delineate and characterize the reservoir facies from the Dawson Canyon Formation in the Penobscot field,Scotian *** integrated study of instantaneous frequency,P-impedance,volume of clay and neutron-porosity attributes,and structural framework was done to unravel the Late Cretaceous depositional system and reservoir facies distribution patterns within the study *** strikes were found in the EW and NEE-SWW directions indicating the dominant course of tectonic activities during the Late Cretaceous period in the region.P-impedance was estimated using model-based seismic *** properties such as the neutron porosity(NPHI)and volume of clay(VCL)were estimated using the multilayer perceptron neural network with high ***,a combination of low instantaneous frequency(15-30 Hz),moderate to high impedance(7000-9500 gm/cc*m/s),low neutron porosity(27%-40%)and low volume of clay(40%-60%),suggests fair-to-good sandstone development in the Dawson Canyon *** calibration with the welllog data,it is found that further lowering in these attribute responses signifies the clean sandstone facies possibly containing *** present study suggests that the shale lithofacies dominates the Late Cretaceous deposition(Dawson Canyon Formation)in the Penobscot field,Scotian *** faults and overlying shale facies provide structural and stratigraphic seals and act as a suitable hydrocarbon entrapment mechanism in the Dawson Canyon Formation's *** present research advocates the integrated analysis of multi-attributes estimated using different methods to minimize the risk involved in hydrocarbon exploration.

Objective:This study aimed to assess breast cancer(BC)awareness among reproductive women in low-and middle-income countries(LMICs),identify influencing factors,and propose feasible interventions or ***:We followed a 5-step process using a modified version of Arksey and O’Malley framework methodology.A comprehensive search was conducted on the Embase,PubMed,and CINAHL electronic databases for literature published within 10 years(from 2012 to 2022).Results:Thirty-three papers published between 2012 and 2020,spanning 18 countries,were *** these,45.6%described a good level of knowledge,while 24.2%reported that women at reproductive ages had good *** influencing factors were identified in 3 categories:socio-demographic(family history,personal history,marital status,age,religion,income status,living place,and occupation),personal(self-efficacy,education,and perceived level),and external(advertisements promoting awareness).Educational programs were recommended in most(>72%)of the included ***:While most studies reported high levels of knowledge and awareness,some found low prevalence among certain *** affecting knowledge and awareness were classified into socio-demographic,personal,and external categories,with socio-demographic factors such as age,education,income,and marital status being the most frequently *** studies recommended implementing educational programs,health prevention strategies,and social interventions to increase BC knowledge and awareness.

A Study on Outlier Detection and Feature Engineering Strategies in Machine Learning for Heart Disease Prediction

This paper investigates the application ofmachine learning to develop a response model to cardiovascular problems and the use of AdaBoost which incorporates an application of Outlier Detection methodologies namely;Z-Score incorporated with GreyWolf Optimization(GWO)as well as Interquartile Range(IQR)coupled with Ant Colony Optimization(ACO).Using a performance index,it is shown that when compared with the Z-Score and GWO with AdaBoost,the IQR and ACO,with AdaBoost are not very accurate(89.0%vs.86.0%)and less discriminative(Area Under the Curve(AUC)score of 93.0%vs.91.0%).The Z-Score and GWO methods also outperformed the others in terms of precision,scoring 89.0%;and the recall was also found to be satisfactory,scoring 90.0%.Thus,the paper helps to reveal various specific benefits and drawbacks associated with different outlier detection and feature selection techniques,which can be important to consider in further improving various aspects of diagnostics in cardiovascular ***,these findings can enhance the knowledge of heart disease prediction and patient treatment using enhanced and innovativemachine learning(ML)*** findings when combined improve patient therapy knowledge and cardiac disease prediction through the use of cutting-edge and improved machine learning *** work lays the groundwork for more precise diagnosis models by highlighting the benefits of combining multiple optimization *** studies should focus on maximizing patient outcomes and model efficacy through research on these combinations.
