Insulinomas are the most frequent type of functional pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors with a variety of neuroglycopenic and autonomic symptoms and welldefined diagnostic criteria;however,prediction of their clinical behavior and early differentiation between benign and malignant lesions remain a *** comparative studies between benign and malignant cases are limited,suggesting that short clinical history,early hypoglycemia during fasting,high proinsulin,insulin,and C-peptide concentrations raise suspicion of ***,malignant tumors are larger with higher mitotic count and Ki-67 proliferative activity,but there are no accurate histological criteria to distinguish benign from malignant *** signaling pathways have been suggested to affect the pathophysiology and behavior of insulinomas;however,our knowledge is limited,urging a further understanding of molecular ***,there is a need for the identification of reliable markers of metastatic disease that could also serve as therapeutic targets in patients with malignant *** opinion review reflects on current gaps in diagnostic and clinical aspects related to the malignant behavior of insulinoma.

Intravascular lithotripsy for coronary calcium:A case report and review of the literature

BACKGROUND Coronary calcium poses a challenge for the interventional cardiologist often leading to stent under-expansion and subsequent ischemic *** balloon post-dilatation though helpful is usually *** plaque ablation techniques are in vogue,but they are technically demanding and are not without *** intravascular lithotripsy(S-IVL)has emerged as a user-friendly and effective mechanism for calcium management with a high safety margin.A series of trials(DISRUPT CAD I-IV)have demonstrated both short-term and long-term safety and efficacy of the *** experience with the technique grows more and more,therapy areas like stent restenosis are being covered by the *** SUMMARY We report a series of 2 cases successfully managed with S-IVL therapy at our *** first case is of a 57-year-old smoker who presented with acute coronary *** left anterior descending coronary artery revealed calcified 90%stenosis on angiogram and a combination of superficial-deep calcium on intracoronary *** calcium was treated with 20 pulses of S-IVL to create discontinuity and a sirolimus eluting drug-eluting stent was successfully *** second case is that of an elderly lady who presented with stable angina and demonstrated diffuse calcified lesions in the left anterior descending artery on *** also demonstrated a mixture of superficial and deep seated calcium zones on imaging.S-IVL therapy was applied to generate fractures in calcium,and two overlapping drug-eluting stents were implanted successfully without any *** S-IVL is an emerging,efficient,user-friendly and safe therapy for managing intracoronary calcium in routine interventional practice.

Microbial fuel cells(MFCs)are a well-known technology used for bioelectricity production from the decomposition of organic waste via electroactive ***,oil,and grease(FOG)as a new substrate in the anode and microalgae in the cathode were added to accelerate the *** effect of FOG concentrations(0.1%,0.5%,1%,and 1.5%)on the anode chamber was *** FOG degradation,volatile fatty acid(VFAs)production,and soluble chemical oxygen demand along with voltage output kinetics were ***,the microbial community analysis and active functional enzymes were also *** maximum power and current density were observed at 0.5%FOG which accounts for 96 mW m^(-2)(8-folds enhancement)and 560 mA m^(-2)(3.7-folds enhancement),*** daily voltage output enhanced upto 2.3-folds with 77.08%coulombic efficiency under 0.5%FOG,which was the highest among all the *** 0.5%FOG was degraded>85%,followed by a 1%FOG-loaded *** chief enzymes inβ-oxidation and electrogenesis were acetyl-CoA C-acetyltransferase,riboflavin synthase,and riboflavin *** identified enzymes symbolize the presence of Clostridium sp.(>15%)and Pseudomonas(>10%)which served as electrochemical active bacteria(EAB).The major metabolic pathways involved in electrogenesis and FOG degradation were fatty acid biosynthesis and glycerophospholipid *** of lipidic-waste(such as FOG)in MFCs could be a potential approach for simultaneous biowaste utilization and bioenergy generation.

Thermal Analysis and Kinetics of Coal during Oxy-Fuel Combustion

The pyrolysis and oxy-fuel combustion characteristics of Polish bituminous coal were studied using non-isothermal thermogravimetric analysis. Pyrolysis tests showed that the mass loss profiles were almost similar up to 870℃ in both N_2 and CO_2 atmospheres, while further mass loss occurred in CO_2 atmosphere at higher temperatures due to char-CO_2 gasification. Replacement of N_2 in the combustion environment by CO_2 delayed the combustion of bituminous coal. At elevated oxygen levels, TG/DTG profiles shifted through lower temperature zone, ignition and burnout temperatures decreased and mass loss rate significantly increased and complete combustion was achieved at lower temperatures and shorter times. Kinetic analysis for the tested coal was performed using Kissinger-Akahira-Sunose(KAS) method. The activation energies of bituminous coal combustion at the similar oxygen content in oxy-fuel with that of air were higher than that in air atmosphere. The results indicated that, with O_2 concentration increasing, the activation energies decreased.

Yb-and Er concentration dependence of the upconversion luminescence of highly doped NaYF_(4):Yb,Er/NaYF_(4):Lu core/shell nanocrystals prepared by a water-free synthesis

High sensitizer and activator concentrations have been increasingly examined to improve the performance of multi-color emissive upconversion(UC)nanocrystals(UCNC)like NaYF_(4):Yb,Er and first strategies were reported to reduce concentration quenching in highly doped *** luminescence(UCL)is,however,controlled not only by dopant concentration,yet by an interplay of different parameters including size,crystal and shell quality,and excitation power density(P).Thus,identifying optimum dopant concentrations requires systematic studies of UCNC designed to minimize additional quenching pathways and quantitative ***,we quantify the dopant concentration dependence of the UCL quantum yield(ΦUC)of solid NaYF_(4):Yb,Er/NaYF_(4):Lu upconversion core/shell nanocrystals of varying Yb3+and Er3+concentrations(Yb3+series:20%‒98%Yb3+;2%Er3+;Er3+series:60%Yb3+;2%‒40%Er3+).To circumvent other luminescence quenching processes,an elaborate synthesis yielding OH-free UCNC with recordΦUC of~9%and~25 nm core particles with a thick surface shell were *** Yb3+concentrations barely reduceΦUC from~9%(20%Yb3+)to~7%(98%Yb3+)for an Er3+concentration of 2%,thereby allowing to strongly increase the particle absorption cross section and UCNC *** an increased Er3+concentration reducesΦUC from~7%(2%Er3+)to 1%(40%)for 60%Yb3+.Nevertheless,at very high P(>1 MW/cm^(2))used for microscopic studies,highly Er3+-doped UCNC display a high brightness because of reduced *** findings underline the importance of synthesis control and will pave the road to many fundamental studies of UC materials.

Culturomics and metagenomics: In understanding of environmental resistome

Pharmaceutical residues, mainly antibiotics, have been called "emerging contaminants" in the environment because of their increasing frequency of detection in aquatic and terrestrial systems and their sublethal ecological effects. Most of them are undiscovered. Both human and veterinary pharmaceuticals, including antibiotics, are introduced into the environment via many different routes, including discharges from municipal wastewater treatment plants and land application of animal manure and biosolids to fertilize croplands. To gain a comprehensive understanding of the widespread problem of antibiotic resistance, modem and scientific approaches have been developed to gain knowledge of the entire antibiotic-resistant microbiota of various ecosystems, which is called the resistome. In this review, two omics methods, i.e. culturomics, a new approach, and metagenomics, used to study antibiotic resistance in environmental samples, are described. Moreover, we discuss how both omics methods have become core scientific tools to characterize microbiomes or resistomes, study natural communities and discover new microbes and new antibiotic resistance genes from environments. The combination of the method for get better outcome of both culturomics and metagenomics will significantly advance our understanding of the role of microbes and their specific properties in the environment.

Poland has a unique history of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)dating back to the 17th century when Polish missionary Michael(Michal)Boym was a pioneer in the *** the 20th century,his successor,Professor Zbigniew Garnuszewski,reintroduced acupuncture to medical practice in ***,other methods of TCM and its holistic approach to patient care have not found their place in modern medicine in *** present,the legal status of TCM in Poland remains unregulated,with TCM included in the broad spectrum of complementary and alternative medicine(CAM)*** reports are available on the use of TCM methods among the Polish *** medicine combines conventional medicine with evidence-based CAM interventions and considers all aspects of a patient's health,including physical,emotional,mental,social,and environmental *** integrative healthcare model that incorporates TCM modalities and lifestyle recommendations as well as a whole person approach may provide a more sustainable solution for the constantly underfinanced Polish healthcare system,which faces challenges of multimorbidity in an aging society and limited access to *** coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic,war in Ukraine,and ongoing climate crisis have underscored the need to strengthen the resilience of the Polish healthcare system and search for new solutions.A model of care that blends the best of biomedicine and TCM healing approaches may be a better option for both patients and the healthcare system in Poland.

Synchronous manifestation of colorectal cancer and intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms

High rates of extrapancreatic malignancies,in particular colorectal cancer(CRC),have been detected in patients with intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm(IPMN).So far,there is no distinct explanation in the literature for the development of secondary or synchronous malignancies in patients with *** the past few years,some data related to common genetic alterations in IPMN and other affiliated cancers have been *** review elucidated the association between IPMN and CRC,shedding light on the most relevant genetic alterations that may explain the possible relationship between these *** keeping with our findings,we suggested that once the diagnosis of IPMN is made,special consideration of CRC should be ***,there are no specific guidelines regarding colorectal screening programs for patients with *** recommend that patients with IPMNs are at high-risk for CRC,and a more rigorous colorectal surveillance program should be implemented.
