The Golden Ja.ka. (Ca.is a.reus Linna.us, 1758), which belongs to the Ca.ida. fa.ily, is a. opportunist ca.nivore in the Ga.a.Strip (365 squa.e kilometers). The current study a.ms a. giving notes on the occurrence a.d some ecologica. a.pects of the species in the Ga.a.Strip, Pa.estine. The study, which la.ted 14 yea.s (2007-2020), is descriptive a.d cumula.ive in its style. It wa. ba.ed on frequent field visits, direct observa.ions a.d meetings a.d discussions with wildlife hunters, fa.mers a.d other sta.eholders. The findings of the study show tha. Ga.a.s a.e fa.ilia. with the Golden Ja.ka. to the extent tha. a.Ga.a. fa.ily holds the a.a.ic na.e of the a.ima., which is “Wa.i”. The Golden Ja.ka. wa. sometimes encountered a.d hunted in the ea.tern pa.ts of the Ga.a.Strip, which a.e cha.a.terized by the presence of wilderness a.ea., intensive a.riculture, poultry pens a.d solid wa.te la.dfills. Like other a.few ma.ma.ia. fa.na., the a.ult Golden Ja.ka.s enter the Ga.a.Strip through ga.s in or burrows benea.h the meta. borders sepa.a.ing the Ga.a.Strip from the rest of the Pa.estinia. Territories a.d Egypt. Ga.a.zoos were found to ha.bor tens of Golden Ja.ka.s tra.ped or hunted by clever wildlife hunters using different mea.s such a. wire ca.es known loca.ly a. “ma.ta.h” a.d foothold tra.s with meta. ja.s tha. ma. ca.se lesions to the tra.ped a.ima.s. Poisoning a.d shooting were a.so common methods used to control the ja.ka.s a.d other ca.nivores ca.sing ha.m to a.riculture a.d livestock.
