Agricultural wastes,including cocoa pod husk(waste from the chocolate industry)and sugarcane bagasse(waste from the sugar industry),are increasing day by *** development of food packaging biofilms from these two wastes could be beneficial to the environment and ***,this study was conducted to develop biodegradable plastic films by using cocoa pod husk and sugarcane *** and fibre were extracted from cocoa pod husk and sugar-cane bagasse,*** developed bioplastic films were divided into several concentration ratios of cellulose and fibre which are 100꞉0(100%cellulose),75꞉25(cellulose꞉fibre),50꞉50(cel-lulose꞉fibre),25꞉75(cellulose꞉fibre),and 0꞉100(100%fibre).The physicochemical properties for all bioplastic concentration ratios were determined in terms of sensory evaluation,drying time,moisture content,water absorption and water vapor *** the observation and anal-ysis of the physicochemical properties of bioplastic,we found that the most suitable bioplastic film for food packaging goes to the combination of 75%cellulose and 25%fibre bioplastic,as it demonstrated the lowest water absorption percentage and water vapor permeability.

In recent years, zinc oxide nanoparticles(ZnO NPs) have gained tremendous attention attributed to their unique properties. Notably, evidence has shown that zinc is an important nutrient in living organisms. As such, both prokaryotes and eukaryotes including bacteria, fungi and yeast are exploited for the synthesis of ZnO NPs by using microbial cells or enzyme, protein and other biomolecules compounds in either an intracellular or extracellular route. ZnO NPs exhibit antimicrobial properties, however, the properties of nanoparticles(NPs) are depended upon on their size and shape, which make them specific for various applications. Nevertheless, the desired size and shape of NPs can be obtained through the optimization process of microbes mediated synthesis by manipulating their reaction conditions. It should be noted that ZnO NPs are synthesized by various chemical and physical ***, these methods are expensive and not environmentally friendly. On that account, the microbes mediated synthesis of ZnO NPs have rapidly evolved recently where the microbes are cleaner, eco-friendly, nontoxic and biocompatible as the alternatives to chemical and physical practices. Moreover, zinc in the form of NPs is more effective than their bulk counterparts and thus, they have been explored for many potential applications including in animals industry. Notably, with the advent of multi-drug resistant strains, ZnO NPs have emerged as the potential antimicrobial agents. This is mainly due to their superior properties in combating a broad spectrum of pathogens. Moreover, zinc is known as an essential trace element for most of the biological function in the animal’s body. As such, the applications of ZnO NPs have been reported to significantly enhance the health and production of the farm animals. Nonlinear photovoltaic(PV)output is greatly affected by the nonuniform distribution of daily irradiance,preventing conventional protection devices from reliably detecting *** fault diagnosis and good maintenance systems are essential for optimizing the overall productivity of a PV system and improving its life ***,a multiscale smart fault diagnosis model for improved PV system maintenance strategies is *** study focuses on diagnosing permanent faults(open-circuit faults,ground faults,and line-line faults)and temporary faults(partial shading)in PV arrays,using the random forest algorithm to conduct time-series analysis of waveform length and autoregression(RF-WLAR)as the main features,with 10-fold cross-validation using Matlab/*** actual irradiance data at 5.86°N and 102.03°E were used as inputs to produce simulated data that closely matched the on-site PV output *** data from the maintenance database of a 2 MW PV power plant in Pasir Mas Kelantan,Malaysia,were used for field testing to verify the developed *** RF-WLAR model achieved an average fault-type classification accuracy of 98%,with 100%accuracy in classifying partial shading and line-line faults.

Endothelial cell death due to increased reactive oxygen species(ROS) may contribute to the initial endothelial injury,which promotes atherosclerotic lesion *** sarmentosum(PS),a natural product,has been shown to have an antioxidant property,which is hypothesized to inhibit production of ROS and prevent cell ***,the present study was designed to determine the effects of PS on the hydrogen peroxide(H2O2)-induced oxidative cell damage in cultured human umbilical vein endothelial cells(HUVECs).In this experiment,HUVECs were obtained by collagenase perfusion of the large vein in the umbilical cord and cultured in medium M200 supplemented with low serum growth supplementation(LSGS).HUVECs were treated with various concentrations of H2O2(0-1000 μmol/L) and it was observed that 180 μmol/L H2O2 reduced cell viability by 50% as denoted by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide(MTT) *** the above concentration as the positive control,the H2O2-induced HUVECs were concomitantly treated with various concentrations(100,150,250 and 300 μg/ml) of three different extracts(aqueous,methanol and hexane) of ***(MDA),superoxide dismutase(SOD),catalase(CAT) and glutathione peroxidase(GPX) levels showed a significant increase(P<0.05) in HUVECs compared to the negative ***,PS extracts showed a protective effect on HUVECs from H2O2-induced cell apoptosis with a significant reduction in MDA,SOD,CAT and GPX levels(P<0.05).Furthermore,PS had exhibited ferric reducing antioxidant power with its high phenolic ***,it was concluded that PS plays a beneficial role in reducing oxidative stress in H2O2-induced HUVECs.

In the present work, a simple and green co-precipitation method was used to prepare copper oxide-zeolite nanocomposites（CuO-zeolite NCs）. The weight ratio（1, 3, 5, 8 and 10 wt%） of CuO nanoparticles（NPs）loaded into zeolite was investigated to obtain the optimum CuO distribution for antibacterial *** prepared CuO-zeolite NCs were characterized by ultraviolet-visible（UV–vis） spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared（FT-IR） spectroscopy, powder X-ray diffraction（XRD）, and energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometry（EDXRF）. The transmission electron microscopy（TEM） and field emission scanning electron microscopy（FE-SEM） revealed a uniform surface morphology of the CuO-zeolite *** UV–vis spectrum of NCs showed absorption peaks between 230 and 280 nm for nano-CuO in the XRD patterns, and new peaks appeared between（36.56？–38.83？） related to the CuO. At weight ratio less than 10 wt%, the CuO nanoparticles loaded to the zeolite exhibited spherical shapes with average particle diameter of 6.5 nm measured by TEM and XRD. Antibacterial activities were tested against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. The obtained results showed that, CuO-zeolite NCs with 8 wt% CuO nanoparticles had the highest antibacterial activities against Bacillus Subtilis B29 and Salmonella Choleraesuis ATCC10708, which can be attributed to the good dispersion of CuO NPs on the zeolite surface.

The preparation and behavior of powder stearin-based methyl ester sulfonates(MES)with the addition of builder as a glidant agent was *** is an anionic surfactant and its performance is equivalent to petroleum-based linear alkylbenzene sulfonates(LAS),the workhorses of the detergent *** the same time,zeolites or soda ash were the alternative builders for non-phosphate-based *** behavior of powder MES properties was measured in terms of morphology,particle size,cohesion,caking,and *** that,these palm stearin-based MES of carbon chain 16–18 with ratios of 98:2,80:20,and 60:40 in flakes were ground using a high shear mixer by 23,000 rpm to produce powder *** the particle size of MES powder can reduce the powder's cohesion,caking,and *** addition of zeolite or soda ash as a glidant in powdered MES can improve the caking *** high stearic in MES greatly influenced getting fine particle powders and required more glidant *** powder MES with excellent powder characteristics can perform well as a bio-based cleaning product.

Dairy farm management is crucial to maintain the longevity of the farm,and poor dairy youngstock or calf management could lead to gradually deteriorating calf health,which often causes premature *** was found to be the most neglected part among the management workflows in Malaysia and has caused continuous loss over the recent *** posture recognition is one of the effective methods to monitor calf behaviour and health state,which can be achieved by monitoring the calf behaviours of standing and lying where the former depicts active calf,and the latter,passive *** posture recognition module is an important component of some automated calf monitoring systems,as the system requires the calf to be in a standing posture before proceeding to the next stage of monitoring,or at the very least,to monitor the activeness of the *** posture such as standing or resting can easily be distinguished by human eye,however,to be recognized by a machine,it will require more complicated frameworks,particularly one that involves a deep learning neural networks *** number of highquality images are required to train a deep learning model for such *** this paper,multiple ConvolutionalNeuralNetwork(CNN)architectures were compared,and the residual network(ResNet)model(specifically,ResNet-50)was ultimately chosen due to its simplicity,great performance,and decent inference *** ResNet-50 models having the exact same architecture and configuration have been trained on two different image datasets respectively sourced by separate cameras placed at different *** were two camera placements to use for comparison because camera placements can significantly impact the quality of the images,which is highly correlated to the deep learning model *** model training,the performance for both CNN models were 99.7%and 99.99%accuracies,respectively,and is adequate for a real-time calf monitoring system.

The thermal front in the oceanic system is believed to have a significant effect on biological *** an era of climate change,changes in heat regulation between the atmosphere and oceanic interior can alter the characteristics of this important *** the simulation results of the 3D Regional Ocean Modelling System(ROMS),we identified the location of thermal fronts and determined their dynamic variability in the area between the southern Andaman Sea and northern Malacca *** Single Image Edge Detection(SIED)algorithm was used to detect the thermal front from model-derived *** show that a thermal front occurred every year from 2002 to 2012 with the temperature gradient at the location of the front was 0.3°C/*** to the years affected by El Ni?o and negative Indian Ocean Dipole(IOD),the normal years(e.g.,May 2003)show the presence of the thermal front at every selected depth(10,25,50,and 75 m),whereas El Ni?o and negative IOD during 2010 show the presence of the thermal front only at depth of 75 m due to greater warming,leading to the thermocline deepening and enhanced *** May 2003,the thermal front was separated by cooler SST in the southern Andaman Sea and warmer SST in the northern Malacca *** higher SST in the northern Malacca Strait was believed due to the besieged Malacca Strait,which trapped the heat and make it difficult to release while higher chlorophyll a in Malacca Strait is due to the freshwater conduit from nearby rivers(Klang,Langat,Perak,and Selangor).Furthermore,compared to the southern Andaman Sea,the chlorophyll a in the northern Malacca Strait is easier to reach the surface area due to the shallower thermocline,which allows nutrients in the area to reach the surface faster.

Infections caused by Strongyloides stercoralis(***) in human are generally asymptomatic,however in immunocompromised individual,hyperinfection may develop with dissemination of larvae to extra-intestinal *** diagnosis could be easily missed due to asymptomatic presentation and insufficient exposure towards the infection itself,which may lead to low index of suspicion as a *** this report,a case of a Malaysian male with underlying diabetes mellitus,hypertension,cerebrovascular accident,bullous pemphigus and syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion who initially complained of generalized body weakness and poor appetite without any history suggestive of sepsis is ***,he developed septicemic shock later,and *** larvae was incidentally found in the tracheal aspirate that was sent to look for acid fast *** of aggressive resuscitation,the patient succumbed due to pulmonary hemorrhage and acute respiratory distress *** was revealed that the current case has alarmed us via incidental finding of *** larvae in the tracheal aspirate,indicating that the importance of the disease should be emphasized in certain parts of the world and population respectively.
