seasonal Behaviour of Mesoscale Eddy Trajectories in the North Indian Ocean Based on satellite Altimetry

In the north Indian Ocean (NIO), maps of sea level anomaly from satellite altimetry were analysed from January-1995 to December-2000. The study attempted to trace the trajectories of the individual mesoscale anomalies manually and to understand seasonal changes in terms of phase speed. Mesoscale anomalies are detected as concentric circular shapes and diameters of ~90 km to 600 km and the minimum 30 days life cycle. Relatively higher eddy kinetic energy was noticed in the northwestern region of the NIO. Individual mesoscale anomalies, namely positive (warm, anticyclonic eddies) and negative (cold, cyclonic eddies) showing travelling direction westward in the NIO basins. In autumn, the number of negative anomalies detected is more than positive anomalies and vice versa during summer. The westward propagating positive (negative) anomalies in the Arabian sea start appearing in winter (spring) along (away from) the west coast of India and west of 65°E;individual anomalies move to the west in spring/summer/autumn and collide along somalia’s & Arabian coast. A group of positive (negative) anomalies trajectories appears as a tail at the southern tip of India are located west of the Laccadive ridge in winter (summer to autumn) associated with LH (LL). The Bay of Bengal (BB) trajectories show southwestward in northern BB, westward in central BB and northwestward in southern BB;individual anomalies are appearing along the west coast of Andaman & Nicobar ridge. The zonal phase speed decreases away from the equator, and the magnitude varies longitudinally in each season in the form of a wave-like pattern propagating westward from autumn to summer;the life cycle of the wave is almost 365 days (a year). The theoretical phase speed of the first mode of the baroclinic Rossby waves is quite similar to that of averaged zonal speed. The Gandaki River Basin(GRB),located in the central Himalaya,provides habitats for a large number of important flora and fauna *** habitats of key protected species have changed over time as a result of climate changes and human activities related to land use change,including the development of *** study assessed the present and future distributions of sloth bear(Melursus ursinus)habitats using the maximum entropy(Max Ent)*** data,a digital elevation model and roads were used as environmental layers to assess current and future distributions of *** show that the overall habitat within the study area is likely to undergo important changes in the *** 8(the mean temperature of the wettest quarter)and slope were found to be important variables affecting the distribution of the *** habitats very highly suitable for sloth bears currently cover an area of 148 km^(2) within the *** habitats are predicted to increase by 122 km^(2) more by ***,a net change by 680.38 km^(2) was found in the *** measures are necessary for this key protected species and its habitat within the GRB and elsewhere in Nepal.

Fabrication of three-dimensional graphene anode for augmenting performance in microbial fuel cells

In the present work,we have reported the synthesis of 3D graphene structures by simple chemical reduction method for application in microbial fuel cell(MFC)as an *** synthesis procedure includes synthesis of graphene oxide by modified Hummers method followed by simultaneous reduction of graphene oxide and the formation of *** 3D graphene structures are characterized using X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy *** characterization is carried out to study the capacitive properties and impedance studies of electrodes in conductive electrolyte.3D graphene electrodes show remarkably high capacitive current,charge storage and lower charge transfer resistance as estimated through cyclic voltammetry and Nyquist *** order to evaluate the performance of 3D graphene electrodes in MFC,power density and polarization curves are recorded in three configurations by varying terminal electron acceptors(TEA)viz.,dissolved oxygen(MFC-DO),potassium ferricyanide and MFC without TEA(MFC-NDO).3D graphene electrodes exhibits maximum power density of 0.49 mW/m^(2) in potassium ferricyanide followed by MFC-DO(0.36 mW/m^(2))and MFC-NDO(0.34 mW/m^(2)).Present work highlights the viability of chemically synthesized 3D graphene electrodes as an efficient anode material in MFC.

The art of building bone: emerging role of chondrocyte-to-osteoblast transdifferentiation in endochondral ossification

There is a worldwide epidemic of skeletal diseases causing not only a public health issue but also accounting for a sizable portion of healthcare expenditures. The vertebrate skeleton is known to be formed by mesenchymal cells condensing into tissue elements(patterning phase) followed by their differentiation into cartilage(chondrocytes) or bone(osteoblasts) cells within the condensations. During the growth and remodeling phase, bone is formed directly via intramembranous ossification or through a cartilage to bone conversion via endochondral ossification routes. The canonical pathway of the endochondral bone formation process involves apoptosis of hypertrophic chondrocytes followed by vascular invasion that brings in osteoclast precursors to remove cartilage and osteoblast precursors to form bone. However, there is now an emerging role for chondrocyte-to-osteoblast transdifferentiation in the endochondral ossification process. Although the concept of "transdifferentiation" per se is not recent,new data using a variety of techniques to follow the fate of chondrocytes in different bones during embryonic and post-natal growth as well as during fracture repair in adults have identified three different models for chondrocyte-to-osteoblast transdifferentiation(direct transdifferentiation, dedifferentiation to redifferentiation, and chondrocyte to osteogenic precursor). This review focuses on the emerging models of chondrocyte-to-osteoblast transdifferentiation and their implications for the treatment of skeletal diseases as well as the possible signaling pathways that contribute to chondrocyte-to-osteoblast transdifferentiation processes.

Ameliorative effects of standardized extract from Trigonella foenum-graecum *** on painful peripheral neuropathy in rats

Objective:To evaluate the effects of the standardized extract of fenugreek(Trigonella foenumgraecum ***:Leguminasae) seed(IND01) in animal models of peripheral neuropathy. Methods:IND01 was prepared from fenugreek seeds and standardized by high performance liquid chromatography to a marker compound,*** effects of daily oral administration of IND01(50,100 and 200 mg/kg) were studied in rats after partial sciatic nerve ligation(PsNL) and sciatic nerve crush injury(sNCI) during 30-days *** measurements on thermal hyperalgesia(TH),motor function test(MFT) score and motor nerve conduction velocity (MNCV) were ***:IND01 offered sustained protection against TH and deranged MFT scores in both models from 7-day *** days of daily oral administration of IND01 restored MNCV reduction in rats with sNCI but not with ***:IND01 was found to be effective in rat models of painful peripheral neuropathy.

We propose an efficient scheme that combines density functional theory(DFT)with deep potentials(DPs),to systematically study convergence issues in the computation of the electronic thermal conductivity of warm dense aluminum(2.7 g/cm^(3)and temperatures ranging from 0.5 eV to 5.0 eV)with respect to the number of k-points,the number of atoms,the broadening parameter,the exchange-correlation functionals,and the ***,we obtain the ionic thermal conductivity using the Green–Kubo method in conjunction with DP molecular dynamics simulations,and we study size effects on the ionic thermal *** work demonstrates that the proposed method is efficient in evaluating both electronic and ionic thermal conductivities of materials.
