The signaling pathway of the gaseous hormone ethylene is involved in plant reproduction,growth,devel-opment,and stress *** reproduction,the two synergid cells of the angiosperm female gametophyte both undergo programmed cell death(PCD)/degeneration but in a different manner:PCD/degeneration of one synergid facilitates pollen tube rupture and thereby the release of sperm cells,while PCD/degeneration of the other synergid blocks supernumerary pollen *** signaling was postu-lated to participate in some of the synergid cell functions,such as pollen tube attraction and the induction of PCD/***,ethylene-mediated induction of synergid PCD/degeneration and the role of ethylene itself have not been firmly ***,we employed the CRISPR/Cas9 technology to knock out the five ethylene-biosynthesis 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid oxidase(ACO)genes and created Arabidopsis mutants free of ethylene *** ethylene-free mutant plants showed normal triple responses when treated with ethylene rather than 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid,but had increased lateral root density and enlarged petal sizes,which are typical phenotypes of mutants defective in ethylene *** these ethylene-free plants,we further demonstrated that production of ethylene is not necessarily required to trigger PCD/degeneration of the two synergid cells,but certain com-ponents of ethylene signaling including transcription factors ETHYLENE-INSENSITIVE 3(EIN3)and EIN3-LIKE 1(EIL1)are necessary for the death of the persistent synergid cell.

With new energy vehicles gradually dominate the market,more and more attentions are paid to the safe operation and long-life cycle of battery systems,and the accurate estimation of state of charge(SOC) and state of health(SOH) are the key functions of *** this study,a novel approach for simultaneously estimating the SOC and SOH is *** estimation methods for SOC and SOH are fused the model-based and data-driven ***,an adaptive extended Kalman filter(AEKF) is applied to estimate SOC without requiring the SOH estimate update parameter,and long short-term memomy(LSTM) is utilized as the data-driven method for SOH *** the data-driven method,the health features(HFs) are extracted from the incremental capacity(IC)curves and SOC-OCV curves,and in this study,six kinds of health factors based on different requirements are ***,the proposed method is validated using a dataset with the CACLE dataset with complex conditions and the Oxford dataset,and the results indicate that the errors of SOC estimation are less than 1% and the errors of SOH are within 3.8%.The results show that the proposed framework has practical value.

Compositionally graded high-voltage P2-type cathode with superior structural stability and redox kinetics for advanced Na-ion batteries

Layered P2-type cathodes with high voltage,large capacity,and easy synthesis show great potential for developing sodium(Na)-ion batteries(NIBs).However,the P2–O2 phase transition makes their structural degradation and the Na^(+)/vacancy ordering lowers their redox ***,we rationally propose a compositionally graded P2-type cathode,where nickel(Ni)and manganese(Mn)fractions decrease gradually,and cobalt(Co)content increases contiguously from the inside to the outside of a secondary *** these particles,the Ni/Mn-based compound delivers high capacity and high *** the surface of particles,the Co/Mn-based solid solution offers a stable buffer *** from these synergistic effects,this graded P2-type cathode shows the elimination of P2–O2 transformation even when charged to 4.4 V,which enables good structural stability,maintaining capacity retention reaching~80%within 300 ***,the Na^(+)/vacancy ordering superstructure is further suppressed,and the Na^(+)diffusion kinetics is significantly *** proposed graded structure with optimized chemical composition offers a new perspective for eliminating the unwanted phase transition and thus enhancing the electrochemistry of high-voltage layered cathodes for advanced NIBs.

Let Z_(4) be the ring of integers modulo *** study the Λ-constacyclic and(θ,Λ)-cyclic codes over the non-chain ring R=Z_(4)[u,v]/for a unit Λ=1+2u+2v in *** define several Gray maps and find that the respective Gray images of a quasi-cyclic code over Z_(4) are cyclic,quasi-cyclic or permutation equivalent to this *** an odd positive integer n,we determine the generator polynomials of cyclic and Λ-constacyclic codes of length n over ***,we prove that a(θ,Λ)-cyclic code of length n is a Λ-constacyclic code if n is odd,and a Λ-quasi-twisted code if n is even.A few examples are also incorporated,in which two parameters are new and one is best known to date.

Machine learning for predicting the outcome of terminal ballistics events

Machine learning(ML) is well suited for the prediction of high-complexity,high-dimensional problems such as those encountered in terminal *** evaluate the performance of four popular ML-based regression models,extreme gradient boosting(XGBoost),artificial neural network(ANN),support vector regression(SVR),and Gaussian process regression(GP),on two common terminal ballistics’ problems:(a)predicting the V50ballistic limit of monolithic metallic armour impacted by small and medium calibre projectiles and fragments,and(b) predicting the depth to which a projectile will penetrate a target of semi-infinite *** achieve this we utilise two datasets,each consisting of approximately 1000samples,collated from public release *** demonstrate that all four model types provide similarly excellent agreement when interpolating within the training data and diverge when extrapolating outside this *** extrapolation is not advisable for ML-based regression models,for applications such as lethality/survivability analysis,such capability is *** circumvent this,we implement expert knowledge and physics-based models via enforced monotonicity,as a Gaussian prior mean,and through a modified loss *** physics-informed models demonstrate improved performance over both classical physics-based models and the basic ML regression models,providing an ability to accurately fit experimental data when it is available and then revert to the physics-based model when *** resulting models demonstrate high levels of predictive accuracy over a very wide range of projectile types,target materials and thicknesses,and impact conditions significantly more diverse than that achievable from any existing analytical *** with numerical analysis tools such as finite element solvers the ML models run orders of magnitude *** provide some general guidelines throughout for the development,application,and reporting of ML models in terminal ballist
