Technology advances in the last a few decades have resulted in profound changes in our society, from workplaces to living rooms to how we socialize with each other. These changes in turn drive further technology developments, as the exponential growth of data demands ever increasing computing power. However, improvements in computing capacity from device scaling alone is no longer sufficient, and new materials, devices, and architectures likely need to be developed collaboratively to meet present and future computing needs. Specifically, devices that offer co-located memory and computing characteristics,as represented by memristor devices and memristor-based computing systems, have attracted broad interest in the last decade. Besides tremendous appeal in data storage applications, memristors offer the potential for efficient hardware realization of neuromorphic computing architectures that can effectively address the memory and energy walls faced by conventional von Neumann computing architectures. In this review, we evaluate the state-of-the-art in memristor devices and systems, and highlight the potential and challenges of applying such devices and architectures in neuromorphic computing applications. New directions that can lead to general, efficient in-memory computing systems will also be discussed.

The accuracy and efficiency of a class of finite volume methods are investigated for numerical solution of morphodynamic problems in one space *** governing equations consist of two components,namely a hydraulic part described by the shallow water equations and a sediment part described by the Exner *** on different formulations of the morphodynamic equations,we propose a family of three finite volume *** numerical fluxes are reconstructed using a modified Roe’s scheme that incorporates,in its reconstruction,the sign of the Jacobian matrix in the morphodynamic system.A well-balanced discretization is used for the treatment of the source *** method is wellbalanced,non-oscillatory and suitable for both slow and rapid interactions between hydraulic flow and sediment *** obtained results for several morphodynamic problems are considered to be representative,and might be helpful for a fair rating of finite volume solution schemes,particularly in long time computations.

The effect of gamma ray energies and volume ratio of micro steel fiber(1 and 1.5%) on attenuation properties of reactive powder concrete(70 MPa compressive strength) was investigated. different characteristics have been considered such as linear attenuation coefficient,mass attenuation coefficient, and half-value *** iodide crystal with a gamma ray spectrometer and collimated beam of gamma ray has been implemented to perform the experimental test. Three sources(Cs-137, Co-60, and Bi-207) with energies of(0.662, 1.17 1.33, 0.569,and 1.063) MeV were adopted in the test. The results obtained indicated that mass attenuation coefficient is proportioned inversely with gamma ray energies and directly with a volume ratio of micro steel fiber. The linear attenuation coefficient and half-value thickness of the tested samples have been calculated and discussed. The obtained results showed that increasing the volume ratio of steel fiber has modified the adequacy of the reactive powder concrete as a shielding element since it increases the density and reduces the half-value thickness.

Effect of microwave treatment on tensile properties of sugar palm fibre reinforced thermoplastic polyurethane composites

The effect of microwave treatment on the tensile properties of treated sugar palm fibre with 6% NaOH reinforced thermoplastic polyurethane composites was investigated. Firstly, the sugar palm fibres were treated by 6% alkali solution. Then, microwave treatment was used to treat the alkali treated sugar palm fibres. Three types of temperatures(i.e. 70, 80 and 90℃) were applied in microwave treatment. The extruder and hot press machines were used to mixing the sugar palm fibres and polyurethane resin, and fabricate the composites. Tensile properties(i.e. tensile strength, tensile modulus and elongation at break) were studied by following the ASTM d-638 standard. The highest tensile strength was recorded 18.42 MPa with microwave temperature at 70℃ and 6% alkali pre-treatment. Therefore, the temperature 70℃ of microwave treatment may consider the best degree cent grate.

Landslides are considered as one among many phenomena jeopardizing human beings as well as their constructions. To prevent this disastrous problem, researchers have used several approaches for landslide susceptibility modeling, for the purpose of preparing accurate maps marking landslide prone *** the most frequently used approaches for landslide susceptibility mapping is the Artificial Neural Network(ANN) method. However, the effectiveness of ANN methods could be enhanced by using hybrid metaheuristic algorithms, which are scarcely applied in landslide mapping. In the current study, nine hybrid metaheuristic algorithms, genetic algorithm(GA)-ANN, evolutionary strategy(ES)-ANN, ant colony optimization(ACO)-ANN, particle swarm optimization(PSO)-ANN, biogeography based optimization(BBO)-ANN, gravitational search algorithm(GHA)-ANN, particle swarm optimization and gravitational search algorithm(PSOGSA)-ANN, grey wolves optimization(GWO)-ANN, and probability based incremental learning(PBIL)-ANN have been used to spatially predict landslide susceptibility in Algiers’ Sahel,Algeria. The modeling phase was done using a database of 78 landslides collected utilizing Google Earth images, field surveys, and six conditioning factors(lithology, elevation, slope, land cover, distance to stream, and distance to road). Initially, a gamma test was used to decrease the input variable ***, the optimal inputs have been modeled by the mean of hybrid metaheuristic ANN techniques and their performance was assessed through seven statistical indicators. The comparative study proves the effectiveness of the co-evolutionary PSOGSA-ANN model, which yielded higher performance in predicting landslide susceptibility compared to the other models. Sensitivity analysis using the stepby-step technique was done afterward, which revealed that the distance to the stream is the most influential factor on landslide susceptibility, followed by the slope factor which ranked second.
