Comparisons of corrosion behaviour for X65 and low Cr steels in high pressure CO2-saturated brine

Appropriate materials for injection pipelines and tubing for carbon dioxide geologic storage is fundamental to ensure asset integrity and save *** paper evaluates the corrosion behaviour of X65,1Cr,3Cr and 5Cr,which have the potential to be injection pipeline/tubing *** influence of steel Cr content on the general and localised corrosion behaviour was investigated at time periods from 6 to 192 h at 60℃and 100 *** evolution,morphology and chemistry of corrosion products on the surface of each material were evaluated using a combination of scanning electron microscopy,energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction and related to their overall corrosion *** indicate that prior to the formation of protective films on the steel surfaces,the resistance of the materials to corrosion increase with increasing Cr content(Corrosion resistance:X65however,as corrosion products evolve,the protection afforded to the different steels significantly varies and decreases with increasing Cr content.×65 becomes the material with the lowest general corrosion rate by the end of the 192 h experiments and 5Cr exhibits the highest corrosion rate(ranking of corrosion resistance:X65>1Cr>3Cr>5Cr).In terms of the corrosion products on X65,both inner amorphous and outer crystalline corrosion layers consist of *** the Cr-containing steels,the outer layer also comprises FeCO3,but the inner layer is enriched with Cr,and is predominantly amorphous Cr(Oh)*** extent of localised corrosion(determined using surface profilometry)is noticeably less for X65 compared to the Cr-containing *** paper raises questions about the benefits that low Cr steels offer towards extending component design life compared to carbon steel under the test conditions considered here.

Stroke and cerebral haemorrhage are the second leading causes of death in the world after ischaemic heart *** this work,a dataset containing medical,physiological and environmental tests for stroke was used to evaluate the efficacy of machine learning,deep learning and a hybrid technique between deep learning and machine learning on theMagnetic Resonance Imaging(MRI)dataset for cerebral *** the first dataset(medical records),two features,namely,diabetes and obesity,were created on the basis of the values of the corresponding *** t-Distributed Stochastic Neighbour Embedding algorithm was applied to represent the high-dimensional dataset in a low-dimensional data ***,the Recursive Feature Elimination algorithm(RFE)was applied to rank the features according to priority and their correlation to the target feature and to remove the unimportant *** features are fed into the various classification algorithms,namely,Support Vector Machine(SVM),K Nearest Neighbours(KNN),Decision Tree,Random Forest,and Multilayer *** algorithms achieved superior *** Random Forest algorithm achieved the best performance amongst the algorithms;it reached an overall accuracy of 99%.This algorithm classified stroke cases with Precision,Recall and F1 score of 98%,100%and 99%,*** the second dataset,the MRI image dataset was evaluated by using the AlexNet model and AlexNet+SVM hybrid *** hybrid model AlexNet+SVM performed is better than the AlexNet model;it reached accuracy,sensitivity,specificity and Area Under the Curve(AUC)of 99.9%,100%,99.80%and 99.86%,respectively.

Combinations of metal and lanthanide oxides have been done through casted films for potential medical applications. In this regard, samarium(Ⅲ) oxide/chromium(Ⅲ) oxide/graphene oxide(GO)/polycaprolactone(PCL) based films nano-composites(NCs) were fabricated, pointing their utilization as a biological scaffold for wound dressing purposes. Also, samarium(Ⅲ) oxide and chromium(Ⅲ) oxide have been merged as promising optical constituents due to their unique optical behavior. The structural and compositional examination of the studied NCs was executed by X-ray diffraction(XRD), Raman, and field emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM). The Sm_(2)O_(3)/Cr_(2)O_(3)/GO/PCL NC exhibits a surface with a lower roughness degree owing to the presence of GO. Cr_(2)O_(3)shows size reduction upon GO insertion to reach 1.2 μm as the average grain size, whilst Sm_(2)O_(3)records an average grain size of less than 1 μm. As well, the polymeric nano-compositions exhibit variation in contact angle values that hit 29.76°± 3.52°for Sm_(2)O_(3)/PCL, and 48.62°± 1.37°for Sm_(2)O_(3)/Cr_(2)O_(3)/GO/PCL as the second lowest contact angle. The optical behavior contributes to absorption edge relocation along the x-axis from 1.7 eV for pure PCL, to 2.65 eV for Sm_(2)O_(3)/Cr_(2)O_(3)/GO/PCL. Regarding biological responses, the cell exposed to 2.5 μg/m L of Sm_(2)O_(3)/Cr_(2)O_(3)/GO/PCL shows cell viability of 119.31%, while 5 μg/m L hits 99.6%. Additionally, the resulting cell attachment micrographs show layers of fibroblast tissue, besides the proliferation and growth of cultivated cells. Thus, the Sm_(2)O_(3)/Cr_(2)O_(3)/GO/PCL scaffold provides 3D proliferation of fibroblast cells endorsing the wound healing process.

Network management and multimedia data mining techniques have a great interest in analyzing and improving the network traffic *** recent times,the most complex task in Software Defined Network(SDN)is security,which is based on a centralized,programmable ***,monitoring network traffic is significant for identifying and revealing intrusion abnormalities in the SDN ***,this paper provides an extensive analysis and investigation of the NSL-KDD dataset using five different clustering algorithms:K-means,Farthest First,Canopy,Density-based algorithm,and Exception-maximization(EM),using the Waikato Environment for Knowledge Analysis(WEKA)software to compare extensively between these five ***,this paper presents an SDN-based intrusion detection system using a deep learning(DL)model with the KDD(Knowledge Discovery in Databases)***,the utilized dataset is clustered into normal and four major attack categories via the clustering ***,a deep learning method is projected for building an efficient SDN-based intrusion detection *** results provide a comprehensive analysis and a flawless reasonable study of different kinds of attacks incorporated in the KDD ***,the outcomes reveal that the proposed deep learning method provides efficient intrusion detection performance compared to existing *** example,the proposed method achieves a detection accuracy of 94.21%for the examined dataset.

In this study,we attempted to characterise the effects of date-palm fibre(DPF)and a date-palm fibre/sheep wool hybrid in polyester to enhance high-performance and low-cost composite materials that can be used in insulation building systems,automotive parts,and home *** DPF was treated using 5%NaOh solution;and the sheep wool was cleaned with 50℃hot water and *** composite specimens were prepared with different fibre contents(0%,10%,20%,30%(w))using a compression moulding *** effect of fibre reinforcement was analysed in terms of the mechanical properties(tensile,flexural,impact,and hardness)and composite ***,scanning electron microscopy(SEM)was performed on the fibres before and after treatment,and the fractured surfaces of all composite specimens were examined after tensile *** results showed that the 20%DPF/sheep wool hybrid reinforced polyester produced the best *** ultimate tensile strength and modulus were 27 MPa and 3.69GPa,*** ultimate flexural strength and flexural modulus were 35.4 and 2507 MPa,*** impact strength was 39.5 kJ/m^(2)and the hardness was 64 *** density decreased to the lowest value of 1.02 g/cm^(3)with the 30%DPF/sheep wool *** SEM showed good adhesion and interfacial bonding between DPF/sheep wool hybrid fibres and the polyester matrix,particularly at 20%fibre content.

This work involves an experimental study on the performance of automobile air-conditioning systems by adding Al_(2)O_(3)nanoparticles to oil compressors to investigate their impacts on the enhancement of the speed cooling of refrigeration systems and to compare it with the system operated using only *** Al_(2)O_(3)nanoparticles have been added to the oil compressor for different ranges ofmass concentration(Ф=0.1%,Ф=0.15%andФ=0.2%).The stability of Al_(2)O_(3)nanoparticles has been tested by direct observation for different time *** results indicated that the air conditioning systemthat operated by using Al_(2)O_(3)-oil was better than the system that operated with pure ***Ф=0.2%,the results indicated that the cooling speed and the efficiency of the system operated with Al_(2)O_(3)-oil are increased by 13%and 18%,respectively,as compared to the pure oil *** study shows that the thermos-physical properties of refrigerant oil are enhanced by 15%whenФis increased.

Effects of Carpobrotus edulis Extract on Oxidative Stress and 158N Oligodendrocyte Death

Objective Age-related diseases, including neurodegenerative diseases, are associated with oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation, and increase the levels of cholesterol auto-oxidation products such as 7β-hydroxycholesterol(7β-OhC). Thus, it is imperative to identify agents that can prevent 7β-OhC-induced side-effects. Methods We evaluated the potential protective effects of Carpobrotus edulis ethanol-water extract(EWe) on murine oligodendrocytes(158 N) cultured in the absence or presence of 7β-OhC(20 μg/mL, 24 h). The cells were incubated with EWe(20-200 μg/mL) 2 h before 7β-OhC treatment. Mitochondrial activity and cell growth were evaluated with the MTT assay. Photometric methods were used to analyze antioxidant enzyme [catalase(CAT) and glutathione peroxidase(GPx)] activities and the generation of lipid and protein oxidation products [malondialdehyde(MDA), conjugated diene(CD), and carbonylated proteins(CPs)]. Results Treatment with 7β-OhC induced cell death and oxidative stress(reflected by alteration in CAT and SOD activities). Overproduction of lipid peroxidation products(MDA and CDs) and CPs was also reported. The cytotoxic effects associated with 7β-OhC were attenuated by 160 μg/mL of EWe of C. edulis. Cell death induced by 7β-OhC treatment was ameliorated, GPx and CAT activities were restored to normal, and MDA, CD, and CP levels were reduced following C. edulis extract treatment. Conclusion These data demonstrate the protective activities of C. edulis EWe against 7β-OhC-induced disequilibrium in the redox status of 158 N cells, indicative of the potential role of this plant extract in the prevention of neurodegenerative diseases.
