Queensland fruit fly[Bactrocera Uyoni(Froggatt),Diptera,Tephritidae]is the most devastating insect pest impacting Australian *** Sterile Insect Technique(SIT)is an important component of tephritid pest management ***,mass-rearing and irradiation(to render insects sterile)may reduce the fitness and performance of the insect,including the ability of sterile males to successfully compete for wild *** of the gut microbiome,including the supplementation with bacterial probiotics shows promise for enhancing the quality of mass-reared sterile flies,however there are fewer published studies targeting the larval *** this study,we supplemented the larval stage of mass-reared *** with bacterial *** tested several individual bacteria that had been previously isolated and characterized from the gut of wild *** larvae including Asaia sp.,Enterobacter sp.,Lactobacillus sp.,Leuconostoc *** also tested a consortium of all four of these bacterial *** fitness parameters tested included adult survival in field cages,laboratory mate selection of bacteria supplemented males by bacteria nonsupplemented females,and laboratory locomotor activity of adult *** of the bacterial probiotic treatments in the current study was significantly different to the control for field survival,mate selection or locomotor activity of adult ***,which agree with some of the other studies regarding bacterial probiotics fed to the larval stage of *** work is needed to determine if feeding the same,and/or other probiotics to adults,as opposed to larvae can positively impact survival,mating performance,mating competitiveness and locomotor activity of *** bacterial group(s)and function of bacterial species that increase fitness and competitiveness is also of interest to tephritid mass-rearing programs.

Social media,like Twitter,is a data repository,and people exchange views on global issues like the COVID-19 *** media has been shown to influence the low acceptance of *** work aims to identify public sentiments concerning the COVID-19 vaccines and better understand the individual’s sensitivities and feelings that lead to *** work proposes a method to analyze the opinion of an individual’s tweet about the COVID-19 *** paper introduces a sigmoidal particle swarm optimization(SPSO)***,the performance of SPSO is measured on a set of 12 benchmark problems,and later it is deployed for selecting optimal text features and categorizing *** proposed method uses TextBlob and VADER for sentiment analysis,CountVectorizer,and term frequency-inverse document frequency(TF-IDF)vectorizer for feature extraction,followed by SPSO-based feature *** Covid-19 vaccination tweets dataset was created and used for training,validating,and *** proposed approach outperformed considered algorithms in terms of ***,we augmented the newly created dataset to make it balanced to increase performance.A classical support vector machine(SVM)gives better accuracy for the augmented dataset without a feature selection *** shows that augmentation improves the overall accuracy of tweet *** the augmentation performance of PSO and SPSO is improved by almost 7%and 5%,respectively,it is observed that simple SVMwith 10-fold cross-validation significantly improved compared to the primary dataset.

An Optimized Offloaded Task Execution for Smart Cities Applications

Wireless nodes are one of the main components in different applications that are offered in a smart *** wireless nodes are responsible to execute multiple tasks with different priority *** the wireless nodes have limited processing capacity,they offload their tasks to cloud servers if the number of tasks exceeds their task processing *** these tasks from remotely placed cloud servers causes a significant delay which is not required in sensitive task *** execution delay is reduced by placing fog computing nodes near these application nodes.A fog node has limited processing capacity and is sometimes unable to execute all the requested *** this work,an optimal task offloading scheme that comprises two algorithms is proposed for the fog nodes to optimally execute the time-sensitive offloaded *** first algorithm describes the task processing criteria for local computation of tasks at the fog nodes and remote computation at the cloud *** second algorithm allows fog nodes to optimally scrutinize the most sensitive tasks within their task *** results show that the proposed task execution scheme significantly reduces the execution time and most of the time-sensitive tasks are executed.

One of the challenging problems with evolutionary computing algorithms is to maintain the balance between exploration and exploitation capability in order to search global optima.A novel convergence track based adaptive differential evolution(CTbADE)algorithm is presented in this research *** crossover rate and mutation probability parameters in a differential evolution algorithm have a significant role in searching global optima.A more diverse population improves the global searching capability and helps to escape from the local optima *** the convergence path over time helps enhance the searching speed of a differential evolution algorithm for varying *** adaptive powerful parameter-controlled sequences utilized learning period-based memory and following convergence track over time are introduced in this *** proposed algorithm will be helpful in maintaining the equilibrium between an algorithm’s exploration and exploitation capability.A comprehensive test suite of standard benchmark problems with different natures,i.e.,unimodal/multimodal and separable/non-separable,was used to test the convergence power of the proposed CTbADE *** results show the significant performance of the CTbADE algorithm in terms of average fitness,solution quality,and convergence speed when compared with standard differential evolution algorithms and a few other commonly used state-of-the-art algorithms,such as jDE,CoDE,and EPSDE *** algorithm will prove to be a significant addition to the literature in order to solve real time problems and to optimize computationalmodels with a high number of parameters to adjust during the problem-solving process.

Computed Tomography(CT)scan and Magnetic Resonance Imaging(MRI)technologies are widely used in medical *** the last few months,due to the increased use of CT scans,millions of patients have had their CT scans ***,as a result,images showing the Corona Virus for diagnostic purposes were digitally transmitted over the *** major problem for the world health care system is a multitude of attacks that affect copyright protection and other ethical issues as images are transmitted over the *** a result,it is important to apply a robust and secure watermarking technique to these ***,watermarking schemes have been developed for various image formats,***,.bmp,***,but their impact on NIfTI(Neuroimaging Informatics Technology Initiative)images is not noteworthy.A watermarking scheme based on the Lifting Wavelet Transform(LWT)and QR factorization is presented in this *** LWT and QR are combined,the NIfTI image maintains its inherent sensitivity and mitigates the watermarking scheme’s *** watermarks are added to the host image in this *** the performance of the graphics card is done by using PSNR,SSIM,Q(a formula which measures image quality),SNR,and Normalized *** watermarking scheme withstands a variety of noise attacks and conversions,including image compression and decompression.

Design and Development of Remote Laboratories with Internet of Things Setting

Given the recent developments of Internet of Things (IoT) researchers and academics are trying to utilize this concept for different innovative applications. One of those applications of IoT is the remote laboratories, where real hardware/software experimentation systems can be controlled and manipulated over the web. During the COVID-19 pandemic, this has become almost essential for academic and research activities. The paper starts with highlighting the necessity and current status of remote laboratories in terms of shortcomings and possible recourse. With these in mind, the second part illustrates an infrastructure of a remote laboratory facility as well as describes the development of a number of prototype remote laboratories that are utilized for academic activities.

Machine-to-Machine Collaboration Utilizing Internet of Things and Machine Learning

Machine-to-Machine (M2M) collaboration opens new opportunities where systems can collaborate without any human intervention and solve engineering problems efficiently and effectively. M2M is widely used for various application areas. Through this reported project authors developed a M2M system where a drone and two ground vehicles collaborate through a base station to implement a system that can be utilized for an indoor search and rescue operation. The model training for drone flight paths achieves almost 100% accuracy. It was also observed that the accuracy of the model increased with more training samples. Both the drone flight path and ground vehicle navigation are controlled from the base station. Machine learning is utilized for modelling of drone’s flight path as well as for ground vehicle navigation through obstacles. The developed system was implemented on a field trial within a corridor of a building, and it was demonstrated successfully.

Adaptation Strategy with Climate Induced Salinity Disaster in the Coastal Area of Bangladesh

This study examined explanatory responses to saline-water intrusion in the coastal areas of Bangladesh which are renowned for providing ecological and livelihood services. The goal of this study is to look at the different adaption strategies which coastal people have been using to deal with the growing salty water incursion. To this end, the researchers conducted a survey on 100 (one hundred) coastal people (Female 37% & Male 63%) chosen at a random basis from two unions (the lowest tier of local government) namely Perikhali union of Rampal upazila under Bagerhat district and Banishanta union of Dacope upazila under Khulna District at the southwest coast of Bangladesh. Agriculture (30%) and fisheries (27%) were the main livelihoods of the respondents. While looking at their existing problems due to salinity, it is seen that around 65% people are to move 3 - 5 (three to five) kilometres to get water access, low yield from agriculture (47%) and conversion of agricultural land (25%), acute crisis of grazing land (50%), damaged housing of cattle (30%) and fisheries (92%) are being affected due to salinity. Along with the impact, locals also have adaptation like seasonal water storage (31%), desalination (30%) and rainwater harvesting (26%) for water related impact. For agriculture, farmers are rotating crops (32%), cultivating saline tolerant varieties and others have switched from rice cultivation to other crops (30%) and cultivating saline tolerant variety (32%). In livestock, farmers are using better management practices (39%) followed by complete shift of livestock rearing (20%) to other businesses. Shifting from freshwater fish to marine water fish and crab/prawn cultivation (38%) found the most adaptation practices by the communities. For long term resilience to salinity induced disaster, collection of safe water (93%), quality seed (57%), disease control (47%) in livestock and quality hatchlings are the main barriers identified by the communities. Objective:To explore the in vitro antibacterial potential of the peel of Cucurbita moschata Duchesne(tropical pumpkin)(***)against human pathogenic ***:In the present study,dichloromethane(DCM),methanol(MEOH)and aqueous extracts of *** peel were examined for in vitro antibacterial potency against eight bacterial strains *** cereus,Burkholderia cepacia,Escherichia coli,Enterococcus faecalis,Staphyloccocus aureus,Pseudomonas aerugenosa,Vibrio alginolyticus,Vibrio parahaemolyticus using Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion susceptibility and broth micro-dilution ***:DCM extract of pumpkin peel exhibited the maximum zone of inhibition against Staphyloccocus aureus(21 mm)whereas aqueous extract of pumpkin peel revealed the least zone of inhibition against Escherichia coli(8 mm).MEOH extract gave maximum zone of inhibition against Pseudomonas aerugenosa(19 mm).Broth micro-dilution method showed minimum inhibitory concentration for the DCM extract against Burkholderia cepacia at 6.25 mg/*** minimum bactericidal concentrations were also determined to know the nature of all *** and MEOH extracts exhibited bactericidal nature to all bacterial strains except for the Vibrio *** minimum bactericidal concentrations values exhibited bactericidal nature ranging from 3.12 mg/mL to 100.00 mg/*** screening of antimicrobial properties of different extracts of *** peel revealed that the DCM extract possessed good antimicrobial efficacy compared to MEOH and aqueous ***:Peel of *** possesses antibacterial compounds and could be potential source for a new class of antibiotics.

Cloud Enabled Text Reader for Individuals with Vision Impairment

The paper describes the development of a text reader for people with vision impairments. The system is designed to extract the content of written documents or commercially printed materials. In terms of hardware, it utilizes a camera, a small embedded processor board, and an Alexa Echo Dot. The software involves an open source text detection library called Tesseract along with Leptonica and OpenCV. The system in its current version can only work with English text. By using the Amazon cloud web services, a skill set was deployed, which would read aloud the detected text utilizing a OpenCV program via the Alexa Echo Dot. For this development, a Raspberry Pi was utilized as the embedded processor system.
