BACKGROUND The relationship between diabetes mellitus(DM)and asthma is complex and can impact disease *** To explore the bidirectional influences between the two conditions on clinical outcomes and disease *** We systematically reviewed the literature on the relationship between DM and asthma,focusing on their impacts,mechanisms,and therapeutic *** studies were assessed,which investigated the effect of glycemic control on asthma outcomes,lung function,and *** study highlighted the role of specific diabetes medications in managing *** The results showed that poor glycemic control in diabetes can exacerbate asthma,increase hospitalizations,and reduce lung ***,severe asthma,especially in obese individuals,can complicate diabetes management and make glycemic control more *** diabetes-associated mechanisms,such as inflammation,microangiopathy,and oxidative stress,can exacerbate asthma and decrease lung *** diabetes medications exhibit anti-inflammatory effects that show promise in mitigating asthma *** The complex interrelationship between diabetes and asthma suggests bidirectional influences that affect disease course and *** and microvascular complications associated with diabetes may worsen asthma outcomes,while asthma severity,especially in obese individuals,complicates diabetes ***,the current research has limitations,and more diverse longitudinal studies are required to establish causal relationships and identify effective treatment strategies for individuals with both conditions.

In the current study,the effect of the entrance edge shape on the scour hole in the diversion junction region was experimentally *** investigation has considered three entrance modelsrounded edge shapes on one or both sides of the diversion channel entrance-with five different inlet edge radius ratios(rr) of 25%,37.5%,50%,62.5%,and 75% and five different diversion discharge ratios(Qr)of 7.5%,12.5%,17.5%,22.5%,and 30%.The results have found the direct relation between Qrand the scour depth to the diversion channel water depth ratio(ds/yb).Moreover,the use of a rounded edge shape on one or both sides of the diversion channel entrance instead of a sharp shape results in a reduction in scour depth to diversion channel water depth ratio(ds/yb) when the Qris greater than 20%.The results also indicated that the largest decrease in the scour coefficient(Kds) for the model with a rounded downstream edge compared with the sharp edge diversion channel entrance shape was 22% at a discharge ratio of 22.5% and an edge radius ratio of 37.5%.In addition,the entrance shape model with a rounded edge at the upstream outperformed other models in scour reduction with an average of all experiments of 5.77%.Finally,empirical relations for estimating scour depth for different rounded edge models in terms of the effective dimensionless parameters were established with coefficients of determination(R2) of not less than 0.853.

The sandwich panel incorporated a honeycomb core,a widely utilized composite structure recognized as a fundamental classification of composite *** a core resembling a honeycomb,possessing thickness and softness,and is flank by rigid face sheets that sandwich various shapes and *** paper presents an examination of the static and dynamic a.alysis of lightweight plates made of aluminum honeycomb sandwich *** sandwich plate samples are 300 mm long,and 300 mm wide,the heights of the core have been varied at four values ranging from 10 to 25 *** honeycomb core is manufactured from aluminum material by using a novel technique namely resistance spot welding(RSW)instead of using adhesive material,which is often used when an industrial flaw is *** optimization based on response surface methodology(RSM)and design of experiment software(DOE)was used to verify the current work.A theoretical examination of the crashworthiness behavior(maximum bending load,maximum deflection)and vibration attributes(natural frequency,damping ratio,transient temporal response)of honeycomb sandwich panels with different design parameters was also carried *** addition,the finite element method-based ANSYS software was used to confirm the theoretical *** findings of the present work showed that the relationship between the natural frequency,core height,and cell size is *** contrast,the relationship between the natural frequency and the thickness of the cell wall is ***,the damping ratio is inversely proportional to the core height and cell size but directly proportional to the thickness of the cell *** study indicates that altering the core height within 10-25 mm leads to a significant increase of 82%in the natural frequency and a notable decrease of 49%in the damping *** findings are based on a specific cell size value of 0.01 m and a cell wall thickness of 0.001 ***,the results indicate

Communication-less Management Strategy for Electric Vehicle Charging in Droop-controlled Islanded Microgrids

Adopting high penetration levels of electric vehicles(EVs) necessitates the implementation of appropriate charging management systems to mitigate their negative impacts on power distribution networks. Currently, most of the proposed EV charging management techniques rely on the availability of high-bandwidth communication links. Such techniques are far from realization due to(1) the lack of utility-grade communication systems in many cases such as secondary(low-voltage) power distribution systems to which EVs are connected, rural areas, remote communities, and islands, and(2) existing fears and concerns about the data privacy of EV users and cyber-physical security. For these cases, appropriate local control schemes are needed to ensure the adequate management of EV charging without violating the grid operation requirements. Accordingly, this paper introduces a new communication-less management strategy for EV charging in droop-controlled islanded microgrids. The proposed strategy is autonomous, as it is based on the measurement of system frequency and local bus voltages. The proposed strategy implements a social charging fairness policy during periods when the microgrid distributed generators(DGs) are in short supply by allocating more system capacity to the EVs with less charging in the past. Furthermore, a novel communication-less EV load shedding scheme is incorporated into the management strategy to provide relief to the microgrid during events of severe undervoltage or underfrequency occurrences due to factors such as high loading or DG outages. Numerical simulations demonstrate the superiority of the proposed strategy over the state-of-the-art controllers in modulating the EV charging demand to counteract microgrid instability.

Surface functionalization of blast furnace slag with sulfamic acid(a zwitterion)was performed for the removal of Cr^(3+)and methylene blue dye(MB)from water *** slag functionalization process was optimized using Response Surface Methodology *** a.alysis of the parameters that include the sulfamic acid amount(A),reaction time(B),and temperature(C)revealed that(A)increase had a negative effect on the adsorption of both pollutants by the zwitterion slag,whereas(B)and(C)increase presented a positive *** the optimum condition of 2 g sulfamic acid amount,50 min reaction time and 37℃ temperature,the prepared slag showed a removal efficiency of more than 90% for both Cr^(3+)and *** characterization by SEM/EDS,FTIR,XPS and surface area a.alyser,showed an improvement in surface properties and the incorporation of zwitterionic NH^(2+)and S=O groups of sulfamic *** isotherm and kinetic studies conducted with the zwitterion slag showed the adsorption process was suited to Freundlich isotherm model and pseudo-second-order kinetic *** thermodynamic study conducted revealed the spontaneity of the process based on the calculated negativeΔG(Gibb’s free energy)*** prepared zwitterion slag offered easy regeneration with dilute HCl solution and showed a considerable removal(Cr^(3+):65% and MB:80%)for both pollutants even after 3 cycles of usage.
