Two-dimensional(2D)layered transition metal carbides/nitrides,called MXenes,are attractive alternative electrode materials for electrochemical energy *** to their metallic electrical conductivity and low ion dif-fusion barrier,MXenes are promising anode materials for sodium-ion batteries(sIBs).Herein,we report on a new 2D carbonitride MXene,viz.,Ti_(2)C_(0.5)N_(0.5)T_(x)(T_(x) stands for surface terminations),and the only second carbonitride after Ti_(3) CNT_(x) so far.A new type of in situ HF(HCl/KF)etching condition was employed to synthesize multilayer Ti_(2)C_(0.5)N_(0.5)T_(x) powders from Ti_(2)AlC_(0.5)N_(0.5).spontaneous intercalation of tetramethylammonium followed by sonication in water allowed for large-scale delamination of this new titanium carbonitride into 2D *** Ti_(2)C_(0.5)N_(0.5)T_(x) powders showed higher specific capac-ities and larger electroactive surface area than those of Ti_(2)CT_(x) ***-layer Ti_(2)C_(0.5)N_(0.5)T_(x) powders show a specific capacity of 182 mAh g^(-1) at 20 mA g^(-1),the highest among all reported MXene electrodes as sIBs with excellent cycling stability.

Ethidium bromide(EtBr)is one of the contaminants recorded in aquatic environments whose effects have been investigated;however,there is still limited knowledge about its *** study examined the potential protective effects of spirulina platensis(sP)against the effects of EtBr toxicity in the Nile tilapia(Oreochromis niloticus)*** were divided to five groups,viz.,a control and four treatment groups of low-dose EtBr(10μg/L),low-dose EtBr with sP(10μg/L EtBr+200 mg/L sP),high-dose EtBr(100μg/L),and high-dose EtBr with sP(100μg/L EtBr+200 mg/L sP);the exposure period was 2 *** and high doses of EtBr induced alterations in some hematological,biochemical,and histopathological *** hepatocytes,degenerated area,vacuolated hepatocytes,pyknotic nuclei,constricted and dilated blood sinusoids,and infiltration of inflammatory cells were *** peroxidation concentration was not significantly different in groups exposed to low doses of EtBr and EtBr with sP,but it was increased in groups exposed to high doses of EtBr and EtBr with sP,compared with the control *** feeding with sP,most histological and histochemical parameters restored to normal ***,sP may possess the ability to preserve the structural integrity of the hepatic and renal membranes.

Objective:To evaluate vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)levels in hepatocellular carcinoma patients before and after transcatheter arterial chemoembolization(TACE)and percutaneous ethanol injection(PEI)and its relation to treatment ***:A total of 40 patients with unrespectable hepatocelluar carcinoma were assessed *** patients were suitable to be treated by TACE,while other 20patients were treated with *** VEGF levels were measured before and 1 month after each procedure by *** was assessed after 1 month according to Union Internationale Contre le Cancer evaluation criteria based on change in tumor size as measured by ***:There was no significant difference between TACE and PEI groups with regard to age,sex,tumor size,response to local therapy,or VEGF and alpha-fetoprotein before and after *** levels after TACE were significantly higher than before TACE[(298.1±123.6)pg/m L vs.(205.8±307.3)pg/m L;P=0.001].Also,VEGF levels were significantly higher after PEI than before PEI[(333.8±365.6)pg/m L vs.(245.3±301.8)pg/m L;P=0.000].Non-responders of both groups had significantly high VEGF levels than responder's,both before[(985.0±113.2)pg/m L vs.(117.1±75.3)pg/m L;Ps.(171.0±94.7)pg/m L;P=0.000)].Conclusions:Both TACE and PEI were associated with an increase in serum VEGF in hepatocelluar carcinoma *** levels of VEGF before and after therapy were found in non-responders,suggesting that VEGF is a useful marker in predicting treatment response.

AIM To evaluate the clinical value and efficiency of transarterial chemoperfusion(TACP) in patients with liver metastases from breast cancer(BC) and colorectal cancer(CRC).METHODs We treated 36 patients with liver metastases of BC(n = 19, 19 females) and CRC(n = 17; 8 females, 9 males) with repeated TACP. The treatment interval was 4 wk. TACP was performed with gemcitabine(1000 mg/m2) and mitomycin(10 mg/m2), administered within 1 h after positioning the catheter tip in the hepatic artery. Before treatment, the size, location, tumour volume, vascularization and number of liver tumours were evaluated using magnetic resonance imaging(MRI). Tumour response was evaluated according to the Response Evaluation Criteria in solid Tumors *** TACP using gemcitabine and mitomycin for metastases from CRC and BC was performed without any serious side effects. The follow-up MRI showed a therapeutic response in 84.2% of the BC patients-stable disease 47.4% and partial response 36.8%. A progression was seen in 15.8%.CRC patients showed a therapeutic response in 52.9% of cases. A progression of the disease was documented in 47.1% of the patients with CRC. These data show that TACP in patients with liver metastases of BC leads to a significantly better therapeutic response compared with CRC patients(P = 0.042). The median survival time was 13.2 mo for the BC patients, which is significantly longer than for CRC patients at 9.3 mo(P = 0.001).CONCLUsION TACP for liver metastases of BC appears to be a safe and effective palliative treatment with improved outcomes in comparison to patients with CRC.

In this paper, the operation of the Double Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) in the range from synchronous speed down to sub-synchronous speeds is analyzed using the power-flow approach. The objective of this analysis is to determine a ceiling for the rating of the converter interfacing the rotor of the wind driven double fed induction generator (DFIG) to the grid. sizing the converter is an important issue in determining the economic viability of using the DFIM as a generator at synchronous and sub-synchronous speeds in wind energy conversion systems. The size of the converter is proved to be less than 10% of the rated power of the DFIG, which is 40% to 67% lower than that estimated in previous publications.

Background: Cesarean section is one of the most common surgeries performed worldwide and its consequences and complications represent a major public health concern. The policy of enhanced recovery after surgery has been implemented after cesarean section to optimize perioperative care. Enhanced recovery also aims to reduce the length of hospital stay, which might imply substantial healthcare savings. Rising hospital costs are one of the factors in early discharge. Patients & Methods: This was a prospective cohort study. 158 patients met the inclusion criteria of the study, 81 patients were discharged after 48 hours and 77 patients were discharged after 24 hours. All patients received the same postoperative care and instructions. All the study participants received a phone call 1, 3, and 5 days after discharge to objectively assess the activities of daily living through Katz index of independence in activities of daily living. All patients were offered a postpartum visit 1 week after discharge during which the wound was assessed by the southampton wound assessment scale. Moreover, other maternal complications such as mastitis, puerperal sepsis, or pyelonephritis were assessed and cases who were readmitted were documented. Initiation of successful breastfeeding and neonatal readmission were reported as well. Results: 158 patients met the inclusion/exclusion criteria of the study. There was no significant difference between the two arms of the study regarding baseline characteristics. Katz index of independence showed that the resumption of activities of daily living after Cs was similar in both arms of the study on days 1, 3 and 5 after discharge. Time till the passage of flatus and stool after the cesarean section was significantly shorter among the early discharge arm (9.31 Vs 14.68, p value s 24.82, p value spectively). Geographic Information systems (GIs) have become a fact of our life as they are being used by more people and organizations for more complex decision problems than ever before. The use of GIs can achieve valuable benefits for individuals, organizations and society;however, the achievement of these benefits depends on the success of GIs. While information systems (Is) success models have received much attention among researchers, there is a general scarcity of research conducted to measure the GIs success. This paper proposes a success model for measuring GIs success by extending and modifying previous Is success models. The developed success model consists of two main levels: GIs project diffusion success, and GIs post-implementation success. The first level identifies the critical success factors (CsFs) that influence the success of GIs adoption at each stage of the diffusion process. The second level of the proposed model identifies and organizes the success dimensions (outcome measures) of GIs in temporal and causal relationships. In order to assess the relationships among the success dimensions, 11 hypotheses were tested. Data were collected through a questionnaire that was distributed to 252 GIs users/managers in Egypt and abroad. The empirical results support 6 hypotheses and reject 5 hypotheses.
