Energy planning and solar plant site selections are vital strategic decisions and one of the most complex executive challenges in the interconnected *** is essential to study the potential renewable energy sources in Afghanistan to select the most sustainable sites for solar power production in populated *** study is based on the combination of a Geographic Information System,Remote sensing,and multi-criteria decision-making technique to evaluate the optimal placement of photovoltaic solar power plants in the Kabul province,capital of *** models,Analytical Hierarchy Process(AHP)and Analytical Network Process(ANP),were used to select suitable areas for establishing a solar power *** application of the proposed model has been made possible by integrating four constraints such as climate,environmental,topography,and economical which comprised twelve criteria:solar radiation,yearly average rainfall,land slope,aspect,land use,dust,geology and proximity to faults,main roads,Normalized difference vegetation index,urban areas river and water *** findings indicate that there is no considerable difference between the results of both models since both models identified more than 20%of the total area of Kabul province in suitable *** maps conclude that northern and southern parts of Kabul city and the eastern part of Kabul province came to the range of suitable *** can be concluded that Kabul province is a source of sufficient potential for producing solar *** results of this study can support the plans of the Afghanistan government in solar energy production and the implementation of photovoltaic power plants.

Risk factors for congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction in children under two years of age

·aiM:To identify various risk factors that may play a significant role in the development of congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction(CNLDO).·METHODS:This observational case-control study included a case group of 122 children less than two years of age with CNLDO who underwent probing and irrigation treatment at the ophthalmology department of Imam Khomeini Hospital in Ahvaz,Iran,from June 2022 to June2024.A control group of 122 age-matched children without CNLDO was also included for *** was collected from the children's medical records.·RESULTS:The study found a significant correlation between the occurrence of CNLDO and several maternal factors,such as preeclampsia,the use of levothyroxine,hypothyroidism,having more than three pregnancies(gravidity>3),natural pregnancy,and gestational diabetes ***,in children,factors,such as oxygen therapy,anemia,reflux,jaundice,and a family history of CNLDO in first-degree relatives were associated with CNLDO,and maternal preeclampsia and hypothyroidism were found to significantly increase the risk of developing CNLDO in children.·CONCLUSION:Given that CNLDO affects both premature and full-term children,the present findings may potentially facilitate the early identification of children and infants at risk of nasolacrimal duct obstruction,thereby preventing the onset of chronic dacryocystitis.

Diallel cross analysis among seven diverse pure lines of maize, （IK8, IK58, ZP-707, OH40, UN44052, DKI7 and HS） with their nonreciprocal 21 crosses, were carried out for estimating the nature and magnitude of gene effects through component and graphic analysis for characters： number of days to tasseling, number of days to silking, plant height, ear height, number of rows per ear, number of grains per row, 300 grain weight and grain yield per plant. The results showed highly significant mean square of genotypes for all studied characters. Additive and dominance variances were found to be significant from zero for all the eight characters except number of days to tasseling and silking for which additive genetic variance was no significant. Dominance variance estimation was relatively higher than the additive variance for all characters. The graphic analysis suggested the presence of epistatic gene effects （non-allelic interaction） for number of days to tasseling, number of days to silking, plant height, number of grains per row and grain yield per plant. The estimates of narrow sense heritability varied from 1.85% for 300 grain weight to 49.88% for ear height, it was moderate in case of ear height and low for the remainder characters.

The rate of elapsed polymerization of polyhydroxyethylacrylate in gelatin has been studied to investigate the effect of co-monomers consumption at a given dose. The polymer gel dosimeters consisted of 2%～4% N,N-methyelene-bis-acrylamide cross-linker,2%～4% 2-hydroxyethylacrylate monomer and gelatin at 3% and 5%. The dosimeters were irradiated by using 60Co teletherapy γ-ray source up to 20 Gy at a constant dose rate. The relaxation rate of water proton in the dosimeters at different doses and co-monomer concentrations were measured using a nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The rate of elapsed polymerization decreases with increasing the dose and the initial concentration of co-monomers. The rate of consumption of co-monomers increases with an increase of the polymerization and the gelatin content of the polymer gel.

We report the hydrothermal growth of pure and doped TiO2 nanoparticles with different concentrations of *** microstructure of the as-synthesized samples is characterized by x-ray diffraction(XRD),field emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM),energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy(EDX),and Raman spectroscopy to understand the structure and *** XRD patterns confirm the formation of anatase phase of TiO2 with the average crystallite size is calculated to be in the range of 13 nm to 14.7 *** functional groups of these nanostructures are characterized by Fourier transformed infrared(FT-IR)spectroscopy,which further confirms the single anatase phase of the synthesized ***-visible absorption spectroscopy is used to understand the absorption behavior,which shows modification in the optical bandgap from 3.13 eV(pure TiO2)to 3.74 eV(1.2 mol%C-doped TiO2).Furthermore,the Ti^3+centers associated with oxygen vacancies are identified using electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy(EPR).
