An extended discrete particle swarm optimization algorithm for the dynamic facility layout problem

We extended an improved version of the discrete particle swarm optimization (DPSO) algorithm proposed by Liao et al.(2007) to solve the dynamic facility layout problem (DFLP). A computational study was performed with the existing heuristic algorithms, including the dynamic programming (DP), genetic algorithm (GA), simulated annealing (SA), hybrid ant system (HAS), hybrid simulated annealing (SA-EG), hybrid genetic algorithms (NLGA and CONGA). The proposed DPSO algorithm, SA, HAS, GA, DP, SA-EG, NLGA, and CONGA obtained the best solutions for 33, 24, 20, 10, 12, 20, 5, and 2 of the 48 problems from (Balakrishnan and Cheng, 2000), respectively. These results show that the DPSO is very effective in dealing with the DFLP. The extended DPSO also has very good computational efficiency when the problem size increases.

As the mesoscale eddies in oceans and semi-enclosed seas are significant in horizontal dispersion of pollutants,we investigate the seasonal variations of these eddies in the Persian Gulf(PG)that are usually generated due to seasonal winds and baroclinic *** sea surface height(SSH)data from 2010 to 2014 of AVISO are used to identify and track eddies,using the SSH-based *** seasonal horizontal dispersion coefficients are estimated for the PG,using the properties of *** results show an annual mean of 78 eddies with a minimum lifetime of one *** of the eddies are predominantly cyclonic(59.1%)and have longer lifetimes and higher diffusion coefficients than the anti-cyclonic *** eddy activity is higher in warm seasons,compared to that of cold *** locations with high eddy diffusion coefficients are high-risk areas by using maps of horizontal eddy diffusion coefficients,perilous times and locations of the release of pollutants are specified to be within the longitude from 51.38°E to 55.28°*** mentioned areas are located from the Strait of Hormuz towards the northeast of the PG,closer to Iranian ***,July can be considered as the most dangerous time of pollution release.

Feedforward Neural Network(FNN)is one of the most popular neural network models that is utilized to solve a wide range of nonlinear and complex *** models such as stochastic gradient descent have been developed to train ***,they mainly suffer from falling into local optima leading to reduce the accuracy of ***,the convergence speed of training process depends on the initial values of weights and biases in ***,these values are randomly determined by most of the training *** deal with these issues,in this paper,we develop a novel evolutionary algorithm by modifying the original version of Whale Optimization Algorithm(WOA).To this end,a nonlinear function is introduced to improve the exploration and exploitation phases in the search process of ***,the modified WOA is applied to automatically obtain the initial values of weights and biases in FNN leading to reduce the probability of falling into local *** addition,the FNN model trained by the modified WOA is used to develop a classification approach for medical diagnosis *** medical diagnosis datasets are utilized to evaluate the efficiency of the proposed ***,four evaluation metrics including accuracy,AUC,specificity,and sensitivity are used in the experiments to compare the performance of classification *** experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method is better than other competing classification models due to achieving higher values of accuracy,AUC,specificity,and sensitivity metrics for the used datasets.

AIM: To study the distribution of ocular higher-order aberrations(HOAs) and mesopic pupil size in individuals screened for refractive surgery. · METHODS: Ocular HOAs and mesopic pupil size were studied in 2 458 eyes of 1 240 patients with myopia, myopic astigmatism and compound myopic astigmatism and 215 eyes of 110 patients with hyperopia, hyperopic astigmatism and compound hyperopic astigmatism using the Zywave aberrometer (Busch& Lomb). All patients had correctable refractive errors without a history of refractive surgery or underlying diseases. Root-mean-square values of HOAs, total spherical aberration, total coma and mesopic pupil size were analyzed. Ocular HOAs were measured across a ≥ 6.0 mm pupil, and pupil size measurements were performed under the mesopic condition. · RESULTS: The mean values of HOAs, total spherical aberration and total coma in the myopic group were 0.369 μm, ±0.233, 0.133±0.112μm and 0.330±0.188μm, respectively. In the hyperopic group the mean values of HOAs, total spherical aberration and total coma were 0.418μm±0.214, 0.202±0.209μm and 0.343±0.201μm, respectively. Hyperopes showed greater total HOAs (P <0.01) and total spherical aberration (P <0.01) compared to myopes. In age-matched analysis, only the amount of total spherical aberration was higher in the hyperopic group (P =0.05). Mesopic pupil size in the myopic group was larger (P ≤0.05). · CONCLUSION: The results suggested that significant levels of HOAs were found in both groups which are important for planning refractive surgeries on Iranians. There were significantly higher levels of total spherical aberration in hyperopes compared to myopes. Mesopic pupil size was larger in myopic group.

Building envelope is a fence that controls heat exchange between interior and exterior and plays an essential role in providing thermal comfort conditions of residents. In recent years, due to the necessity of conserving energy and also preventing increased environmental pollution, the importance of sustainable construction has been doubled. Checking the problems of thermal behavior of the building envelope materials, and what influences in the heating and cooling loads exerted and energy consumption of buildings, are the questions that this research seeks to answer. In this regard, building information modelling analysis (BIM) has worthy contribution in the completion process of sustainable design;thus using software Design Builder, it is paid attention to simulation of the thermal behavior of two types of defined materials for the building envelope that was designed as a Research Institute of Renewable Energy of Yazd University. For Type 1 materials, two layers of brick have been selected, and for Type 2 a thermal insulation layer also added it. Results of the analysis showed that the use of materials Type 2 in the cooling load %4.8 and in the thermal load %62.5 reduction can be achieved which means reducing the load on active system and thus reducing the initial cost of building. Also reduction in annual energy consumption by almost %2.4 for cooling and %62.9 for heating buildings have been achieved, which makes saving non-renewable energy consumption, and consequently reducing environmental pollution as well as reducing current costs will be established.

AIM： To assess the possible role of occult HBV infection in the pathogenesis of chronic hepatitis in Iranian patients. METHODS： After exclusion of autoimmune, metabolic and viral etiologies, 104 consecutive adult patients with histologic and biochemical features of chronic hepatitis and negative HBsAg were enrolled in the study. Qualitative PCR with a sensitivity of 150 × 10^3 copies/L, using two primers for Pre-S and core regions was applied to measure presence of HBV DNA in serum of the patients. RESULTS： All 104 patients completed the study Qualitative HBV DNA was positive in two patients （1.9%） CONCLUSION： Occult HBV infection has negligible role in the pathogenesis of cryptogenic chronic hepatitis in Iranian patients.

Effect of needle number on drying rate of kiwi fruit in EHD drying process

Electrohydrodynamic (EHD) drying is a novel method of non-thermal processing. In this drying method, drying can be carried out using either AC or DC high voltages. The thermodynamic considerations regarding the lowering of temperature under EHD drying include rapid rates of evaporation and exothermic interaction of the electric field with a dielectric material. Multi-point and plate electrode systems are efficient in accelerating drying of agricultural materials. The electrode produces corona wind, which resembles a round jet, impinges and removes moisture from the surface. The enhancement of drying rate by corona discharge from needle electrodes has been experimentally evaluated in this study. Effects of three different categories, one needle, nine needles and seventeen needles on drying rate of kiwi fruit were studied, moreover in each category, Experiments were carried out using DC voltage levels of 6, 10.5 and 15 kV and field intensities 4.5 kV/cm. Results showed that the effect of needle number on drying rate was significant and drying rate of kiwi fruit reduced with increasing in needle numbers.

Objective: The local regulations for conducting experimental and clinical cell therapy studies are dependent on the national and cultural approach to the issue, and may have many common aspects as well as differences with the regulations in other *** study reflects the latest national aspects of cell therapy in Iran and relevant regulations. Methods: The following topics are discussed in the article including sources of cell harvest, regulations for cell disposal, stem cell manufacturing, and economic aspects of stem cell, based on current practice in Iran. Results: All cell therapy trials in Iran are required to strictly abide with the ethical codes, national and local regulations, and safety requirements, as well as considering human rights and respect. Adherence to these standards has facilitated the conduct of human cell therapy trials for research, academic advancement, and therapy. Conclusions: The cell therapy trials based on the aforementioned regulations may be assumed to be ethical and they are candidates for clinical translations based on safety and efficacy issues.

目的:研究眼高阶像差的分布(HOAs)和mesopic瞳孔的大小在个体中筛选的屈光手术。方法:我们采用Zywave像差分析仪(博士伦)分别对患有近视、近视散光和复性近视散光患者1240例2458眼和患有远视、远视散光和复性远视散光患者110例215眼的高阶像差和瞳孔大小进行检测。所有患者屈光不正均可矫正,无屈光手术史或潜在疾病。HOAs的均方根值、总球面像差、总斜射球面像差和中间视觉状态下瞳孔的大小进行了分析,眼高阶像差测量均在瞳孔≥6.0mm,且瞳孔大小的测量均为在中间视觉状态下进行。结果:HOAs均方根值、总球面像差和总斜射球面像差在近视眼组与远视眼组分别为0.369±0.233μm、0.133±0.112μm、0.330±0.188μm;0.418±0.214μm、0.202±0.209μm、0.343±0.201μm。与近视患者相比,远视患者的总HOAs和总球面像差更大(P均<0.01)。年龄匹配分析显示在远视眼组只有总球面像差较高(P=0.05)。近视眼组的中间视觉状态下瞳孔大小较大(P≤0.05)。结论:实验结果表明两组的HOAs的水平有显著差异,这对于将行屈光手术的伊朗人很重要。远视眼组的总球面像差显著高于近视眼组,中间视觉状态下瞳孔大小在近视眼组较大。
