Humic acid(HA)can adsorb onto mineral surfaces,modifying the physicochemical properties of the ***,understanding the sorption behavior of HA onto mineral surfaces is of particular interest,since the fate and transport of many organic and inorganic contaminants are highly correlated to HA adsorbed onto clay *** to the extreme heterogeneity of HA,the extracted IHSS Leonardite humic acid(LHA)used in this work was fractionated using an ultrafiltration technique(UF)into different molecular size fractions(Fr1,>0.2μm;Fr2,0.2 pm-300,000 daltons;Fr3,300,000-50,000 daltons;Fr4,50,000-10,000 daltons;Fr5,10,000-1000 daltons).Equilibrium and the kinetics of LHA and fraction adsorption onto kaolinite and montmorillonite were *** results demonstrated that the maximum adsorption capacity of LHA,Frl,Fr2,Fr3,Fr4,and Fr5 was 5.99,13.69,10.29,7.02,5.9&and 5.09 on kaolinite while it was 8.29,22.62,13.17,8.91,8.62,and 5.69 on montmorillonite,*** adsorption equilibrium data showed that the adsorption behavior of LHA and its fractions could be described more practically by the Langmuir model than the Freundlich *** rate of humic acid fraction adsorption onto clays increased with decreasing molecular size fraction and increasing carboxylic group ***-first-and second-order models were used to assess the kinetic data and the rate *** results explained that LHA and its fractions adsorption on clay minerals conformed more to pseudosecondo rder.

Developing a biomaterial for wound healing applications is still a ***,dysprosium oxide(Dy_(2)O_(3)),aluminum oxide(Al_(2)O_(3)),and graphene oxide(GO)were embedded in cast films based on polycaprolactone(PCL)to be examined for wound dressing *** techniques were used to characterize the fabricated films including X-ray diffraction(XrD),Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIr),raman,and scanning electron microscopy(SEM),besides their biological *** thermogravimetric analysis(TGA)exhibits high thermal stability as the scaffold weight decreases slightly to 98.6%after raising the temperature from room temperature to 280℃.The cell viability was investigated and it is shown that the viable cells grow up to approximately 93%at 75μg/***,the cell attachment shows excellent behavior as the cells attach on most of the surface of the modified PCL which shows high biocompatibility.

P‐doped TiO2 (PTIO) thin‐films with different P contents were prepared using a sol‐gel method. The thin‐film samples were characterized using various techniques. The photocatalytic activity was evaluated by decomposing butyl benzyl phthalate under visible‐light irradiation. The results showed that the transformation of anatase to the rutile phase was inhibited and grain growth of TiO2 was prevented by P doping. The results confirm that the doped P atoms existed in two chemical forms, and those incorporated in the TiO2 lattice may play a positive role in photocatalysis. The high photocatalytic activities of the PTIO thin‐films may be the result of extrinsic absorption through the creation of oxygen vacancies, rather than excitation of the intrinsic absorption band of bulk TiO2 . The PTIO can be recycled with little depression of the photocatalytic activity. After six cycles, the photocatalytic activity of the PTIO film was still higher than 98%.

Machine learning-based seismic assessment of framed structures with soil-structure interaction

The objective of the current study is to propose an expert system framework based on a supervised machine learning technique(MLT)to predict the seismic performance of low-to mid-rise frame structures considering soil-structure interaction(SSI).The methodology of the framework is based on examining different MLTs to obtain the highest possible accuracy for *** the MLT,a sensitivity analysis was conducted on the main SSI parameters to select the most effective input *** limit state criteria were used for the seismic evaluation within the process.A new global seismic assessment ratio was introduced that considers both serviceability and strength aspects by utilizing three different engineering demand parameters(EDPs).The proposed framework is novel because it enables the designer to seismically assess the structure,while simultaneously considering different EDPs and multiple limit ***,the framework provides recommendations for building component design based on the newly introduced global seismic assessment ratio,which considers different levels of seismic *** proposed framework was validated through comparison using non-linear time history(NLTH)*** results show that the proposed framework provides more accurate results than conventional ***,the generalization potential of the proposed framework was tested by investigating two different types of structural irregularities,namely,stiffness and mass *** results from the framework were in good agreement with the NLTH analysis results for the selected case studies,and peak ground acceleration(PGA)was found to be the most influential input parameter in the assessment process for the case study models *** proposed framework shows high generalization potential for low-to mid-rise structures.

Contralateral eye study of refractive,topographic and aberrometric outcomes after femtosecond assisted Myo ring implantation and DALK for management of keratoconus

AIM：To evaluate the efficacy of femtosecond laser assisted Myoring intrastromal corneal implant and deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty （DALK） for management of moderate to advanced keratoconus regarding the degree of changes in visual acuity, refraction, corneal asphericity and ***：A prospective non comparative interventional case study was conducted in Ophthalmology Department,Ain Shams University Hospital in the period from January 2015 to February 2017. The study included 30 eyes of moderate to advanced keratoconus. Myoring was implanted in one eye （Group Ⅰ） and DALK operation was performed in the contralateral eye of the same patient （Group Ⅱ）.Preoperative and 6mo post-operative uncorrected visual acuity（UCVA）, corrected distance visual acuity （CDVA）, spherical equivalent （SE）, corneal and refractive astigmatisms,keratometry and Q-value using topography images were acquired. Quality of vision was assessed in all eyes including total corneal, anterior corneal high order aberrations analysis at 5 mm pupil size and the Strehl ratio of point spread function （PSF） as an objective measure of ***：Mean postoperative UCVA, CDVA, SE, refractive astigmatism,keratometryreadingsandasphericity were statistically improved compared to preoperative parameters in both groups （P〈0.05）. Significant reduction of all corneal aberrations following both techniques（P〈0.05） was achieved except mean trefoil and mean PSF in Group Ⅰ （P〉0.05）. Postoperative corneal aberrations were significantly lower in Group Ⅱ compared to Group Ⅰ.A statistically significant negative correlation was found in Group Ⅰ between the mean change in CDVA （logMAr）and the mean preoperative and mean postoperative total corneal aberrations root mean square （rMS; r=-0.78,P=0.04）. Also a statistically significant negative correlation was found between mean preoperative coma rMS and mean post PSF （r=-0.86, P=0.01）. Service life prediction of fly ash concrete using an artificial neural network

Carbonation is one of the most aggressive phenomena affecting reinforced concrete structures and causing their degradation over *** reinforcement is altered by carbonation,the structure will no longer fulfill service *** this purpose,the present work estimates the lifetime of fly ash concrete by developing a carbonation depth prediction model that uses an artificial neural network technique.A collection of 300 data points was made from experimental results available in the published *** training of a three-layer perceptron was selected for the calculation of weights and biases of the network to reach the desired *** parameters affecting carbonation were used as input neurons:binder content,fly ash substitution rate,water/binder ratio,CO_(2)concentration,relative humidity,and concrete ***,experimental validation carried out for the developed model shows that the artificial neural network has strong potential as a feasible tool to accurately predict the carbonation depth of fly ash ***,a mathematical formula is proposed that can be used to successfully estimate the service life of fly ash concrete.

The paper presents the investigation of the effect of alkaline treatment of sodium hydroxide(NaOH) on physical and dynamic mechanical analysis(DMA) viscoelastic properties of kenaf fibre filled natural rubber(Nr)/thermoplastic polyurethane(TPU) *** treated kenaf fiber,Nr and TPU were weighed and proportioned according to the required compositions and were blended using hot mixed Brabender *** polymer composites were then fabricated using the hot press to form a sample *** sample was cut and prepared and water absorption,density,thickness swelling and DMA tests were *** far as physical properties are concerned,composites with the highest Nr amount of shows the best results,which indicates good fiber bonding *** polymer composites with the highest amount of TPU shows the highest damping properties at high temperature.

The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)is characterized as a disease caused by a novel coronavirus known as severe acute respiratory coronavirus syndrome 2(SArS-CoV-2;formerly known as 2019-nCoV).In December 2019,COVID-19 began to appear in a few *** the beginning of 2020,it had spread to most countries across the *** is when education challenges began to *** COVID-19 crisis led to the closure of thousands of schools and universities all over the *** a situation requires reliance on e-learning and robotics education for students to continue their studies to avoid the mingling between people and *** relation to this alternative learning solution,the present study was conducted.A systematic literature review on educational robotics(Er)keywords between 2015–2020 was carried out for the purpose to review a total of 2253 articles from the selected sources;Scopus(452),Taylor&Francis(311),Science Direct(427),IEEE Xplore(221),and Web of Science(842).This review procedure was labelled as Taxonomy *** ltering Taxonomy 1,it was found that 98 scientic articles formed the so-called Taxonomy II that was categorized into six categories:(i)robotics concepts,(ii)Device,(iii)robotic applications,(iv)Manufacturing robots,(v)robotics analysis,and(vi)Education/*** this study,only 35 articles in this specic eld were selected,of which were then assigned into three categories:(i)Application,(ii)Platform,and(iii)*** results show that the application category carries 17.4%,platform 20%,and education 22.85%.This study serves as the application platform to help students,academics,and researchers.

Mineralogy and radioactivity of pegmatites from South Wadi Khuda area,Eastern Desert,Egypt

radioactive minerals in pegmatites associated with granitic rocks are commonly encountered in the south of the Wadi Khuda area and found as dyke-like and small *** are observed within garnet-muscovite granites near the contact with older *** surveys indicated that the studied pegmatites vary in dimensions ranging from 2 to 10 m in width and from 10 to 500 m in *** are composed mainly of intergrowth of milky quartz,reddish-pink K-feldspar and plagioclase together with small pockets of *** radiometric measurements indicated that radioactivity in pegmatites is more than twice that of their enclosing country *** measurements revealed that the average contents of U and Th increase gradually from rocks of dioritic to granodioritic composition(1.5×10-6 U and 4.3×10-6 Th) and increase significantly in biotite granites(5.8×10-6 U and 15.2×10-6 Th) but drastically decrease in muscovite granites(2.2×10-6 U and 5.6×10-6 Th).The average contents of U and Th of anomalous pegmatites are 95.3×10-6 and 116.9×10-6,respectively,indicating their uraniferous *** the south of the Wadi Khuda area,pegmatites are low in average Th/U(1.4) and high in average U/K(35.6),which suggests that uranium concentrating processes did not affect the pegmatites,indicating poor *** investigations of the studied pegmatites revealed the presence of secondary uranium minerals(kasolite and autunite),in addition to zircon,thorite,apatite,garnet and *** and secondary radioactive mineralizations indicated that the mineralization is not only magmatic,but also *** microprobe analyses showed distinct cryptic chemical zoning within thorite where UO2 decreases from core to *** feature in thorite is sporadic,suggesting non-uniform redistributions of UO2 within thorite during magmatic processes.
