A mathematical analysis has been carried out to investigate the effect of internal heat generation/absorption on steady two-dimensional radiative magnetohydrodynamics(MHD)boundary-layer flow of a viscous,incompressible nanofluid over a vertical plate.A system of governing nonlinear PDEs is converted into a set of nonlinear ODEs by suitable similarity transformations and then solved analytically using HAM and numerically by the fourth order Runge–Kutta integration scheme with shooting *** effects of different controlling parameters on the dimensionless velocity,temperature and nanoparticle volume fraction profiles are discussed *** reduced Nusslet number and the local Sherwood number are *** is found that the nanosolid volume fraction profile decreases in the presence of heat generation and increases in the case of heat absorption and a reverse trend is observed in velocity *** excellent agreement is observed between present analytical and numerical ***,comparisons have been made with bench mark solutions for a special case and obtained a very good agreement.

Campylobacter jejuni is a prominent bacterial cause of human gastroenteritis. Campylobacteriosis outbreaks reported were related to the ingestion of the contaminated food. Meat are reported to be frequently infected with C. jejuni. It is well recognized that C. jejuni is one of the main causes of gastroenteritis in humans, and poultry meat is reported to be the main source. A number of studies in several countries have shown the occurrence of C. jejuni in animal farms, slaughterhouses, and meat. This review simply describes the occurrence, spreading, and public health significance of C. jejuni.

This research focused on the dynamic mechanical and thermal properties of woven mat jute/kenaf/jute(J/K/J)and kenaf/jute/kenaf(K/J/K)hybrid *** mechanical analysis(DMA)and Thermo-gravimetric Analysis(TGA)were used to study the effect of layering sequence on the thermal properties of kenaf/jute hybrid *** DMA results;it was found that the differences in the stacking sequence between the kenaf/jute composites do not affect their storage modulus,loss modulus and damping *** the TGA and DMA results,it has been shown that stacking sequence has given positive effect to the kenaf/jute hybrid composite compared to pure epoxy *** is because kenaf and jute fibre has increased the Tg values of the composites,thus affect the thermal *** showed that the storage modulus for kenaf/jute hybrid composites increased compared with pure epoxy composites with increasing temperature and the values of remained almost the same at glass transition temperature(Tg),the hybrid composite perhaps due to the improved fibre/matrix interface *** preliminary analysis could provide a new direction for the creation of a novel hybrid composite which offers unique properties which cannot be accomplished in a single material system.

This paper presents a novel Simulink models with an evaluation study of more widely used On-Line Maximum Power Point tracking(MPPT)techniques for Photo-Voltaic based Battery Storage Systems(PV-BSS).To have a full comparative study in terms of the dynamic response,battery state of charge(SOC),and oscillations around the Maximum Power Point(MPP)of the PV-BSS to variations in climate conditions,these techniques are simulated in Matlab/*** introduced methodologies are classified into two types;the first type is conventional hill-climbing techniques which are based on instantaneous PV data measurements such as Perturb&Observe and Incremental Conductance *** second type is a novel proposed methodology is based on using solar irradiance and cell temperature measurements with pre-build Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System(ANFIS)model to predict DC–DC converter optimum duty cycle to track *** evaluation study is introduced for conventional and proposed On-Line MPPT *** comparative study can be useful in specifying the appropriateness of the MPPT techniques for *** the introduced model can be used as a valued reference model for future research related to Soft Computing(SC)MPPT techniques.A significant improvement of SOC is achieved by the proposed model and methodology with high accuracy and lower oscillations.

Over the past decade, a multitude of molecular targeted agents have been explored in the treatment of advanced metastatic gastric. Recent advances in molecular signaling pathways that are dysregulated in gastric cancer lead to the development of new targeted therapies for the treatment of advanced and metastatic gastric cancer. The addition of trastuzumab to first-line chemotherapy is now a standard of care for the treatment of Human epidermal growth factor receptor (HER2-) positive advanced or metastatic disease, and other HER2-targeted therapies are in late-stage clinical development. Findings from recent major clinical trials provide important insight into the future of metastatic gastric cancer management, which may include the use of anti-angiogenesis, Mesenchymal epithelial transition factor (MET) and Hedgehog Pathways Inhibitortherapy across multiple treatment lines, in the salvage setting, and as part of novel regimens in combination with other targeted agents.

Secondary sex ratio of assisted reproductive technology babies

Objective: To assess the secondary sex ratio (SSR) of assisted reproduction technology babies within a fertility clinic in Melbourne, Australia. Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted on 3369 babies who were born following single embryo transfer between 2011 and 2016. Variables examined included embryo creation date, maternal and paternal ages, maternal body mass index (BMI), type of infertility, sperm parameters, fertilization method, type of embryo and stage of transfer. Multivariate regression analysis was performed on the data set using STRATA V9.2. Results: More males were found to be born to embryos created in summer (adjusted odds ratio=1.46, 95% confidence interval: 1.08-1.95;P=0.01). Lower BMI of mother (≤30 kg/m 2) and younger age of parents (≤35 years) were associated with an increase in SSR (50.1% vs. 47.1%;50.6% vs. 48.8%;50.0% vs. 48.9%) respectively. Decreased SSR value was associated with primary subfertility, using in-vitro fertilization procedure and fresh embryo compared to those with secondary subfertility, using intracytoplasmic sperm injection procedure and thawed embryo (49.3% vs. 50.6%;47.1% vs. 50.8%;49.4% vs. 50.1%) respectively. Conclusions: The fertilization methods, type of embryo, stage of embryo transfer, parameters of the sperm and status of subfertility do not significantly affect the SSR. SSR is affected by the seasonality, maternal age, and BMI.

Atherosclerosis and the Cholesterol Theory: A Reappraisal

Atherosclerosis is the precedent to ischemic heart disease, which may lead to angina, myocardial infarct, or heart failure;or to ischemic cerebrovascular disease, which may lead to stroke. The prevailing belief underlying conventional approaches to treatment of atherosclerosis and its sequel is that a diet high in cholesterol and saturated fat is the main contributory factor, triggering cholesterol build up in the intima of the blood vessels. Over the last 60 years, the blame has shifted from fats, to saturated fats, to low-density lipoprotein (LDL), and finally to oxidized LDL (Ox-LDL). Therapy has been predominantly aimed at lowering cholesterol and control of risk factors. However, there is an alternative hypothesis about the cause of heart disease linking it to the weakening of the vascular collagen matrix at the sites of high hemodynamic stress (coronary arteries) which triggers the infiltration of lipoprotein(apo) [Lp(a)] and plaque development. Accordingly, the vascular deposition of large molecules such as Lp(a) and atherosclerosis is the result of the body’s endogenous protective mechanism to reinforce the weakened artery walls. Understanding this mechanism may guide the natural prevention of this disease and form the basis for developing effective therapeutic strategies aiming at natural reversal of atherosclerosis through the reinforcement of the vascular wall structure as its primary goal. This reappraisal of atherosclerosis and the cholesterol theory looked at the historical development of the theory, and the Rath and Pauling unified theory of cardiovascular disease.

Vitamin D Level in Multiple Sclerosis Patients. Could Vitamin D Level Be Routine Investigation for Multiple Sclerosis Patients?

Objectives: To study the prevalence of vitamin D deficiency among newly diagnosed multiple sclerosis patients. Patients and Methods: It is a case control cross matching age related study done on totally 40 subjects (20 patients are newly diagnosed as MS;patients don’t start any medication for MS (naive patients) and 20 subjects are controls with the same age and sex). Base line vitamin D level was measured (i.e. vitamin D, 25-OH (total)) and MRI brain with contrast was done for all patients. Results: Low total vitamin D level was seen among 65% of patients with MS (13/20);however, this was only 20% of normal controls (4/20). Conclusion: Hypovitaminosis D is common in MS patients.
