Bound states in the continuum(BICs)have emerged as an efficient tool for trapping light at the nanoscale,promising several exciting applications in *** the structural symmetry has been proposed as an effective way of exciting quasiBICs(QBICs)and generating high-Q ***,we demonstrate that QBICs can be excited in an all-dielectric metasurface by scaling the lattice of the metasurface,causing translational symmetry *** corresponding BICs arise from band folding from the band edge to the Γ point in the first Brillouin *** analysis reveals that the toroidal dipole dominates these ***,scaling the lattice along different directions provides additional freedom for tailoring QBICs,enabling polarization-dependent or-independent *** addition,this allows the realization of two QBICs at different wavelengths using plane-wave illumination with different polarizations on the *** experimentally demonstrated the existence of these BICs by fabricating silicon metasurfaces with scaled lattices and measuring their transmission *** vanished resonant linewidth identifies BICs in the transmission spectrum,and the QBICs are characterized by highQ Fano resonances with the Q-factor reaching *** results have potential applications in enhancing light-matter interaction,such as laser,nonlinear harmonic generation,and strong coupling.

Geothermobarometry of Askaoun Pluton in Ouzellarh-Sirwa Promontory (Central Anti-Atlas;Morocco)

Rocks of the late Neoproterozoic Askaoun pluton (558 ± 2 ma) located in the Ouzellarh-Sirwa promontory (Anti-Atlas) include magmatic microgranular enclaves (MMEs) ranging from rounded to ovoid in shape, dark and fine grained and generally 5 to 10 cm in size, some reaching a size of 50 cm. They are composed of microdiorite, quartz microdiorite and micromonzodiorite, whereas the felsic host rocks comprise mainly quartz-diorite and amphibole-biotite granodiorite based on mineralogical compositions. The mineral assemblage is similar to those described in their hosting granitoids but with different proportions. In this study composition of minerals is used to describe the nature of the magma and estimate the pressure, temperature and oxygen fugacity at which Askaoun pluton is emplaced. Based on chemistry of biotite Askaoun pluton formed from calc-alkaline magma. Compositions of plagioclase (An5 - An29);hornblende (Mg ≠= 0.59 - 0.65) and biotite (Mg ≠= 0.49 - 0.55) of MMEs are slightly distinct or similar to those of host rocks (An7-40;hbl Mg ≠= 0.64 - 0.69;Bi Mg ≠= 0.49 - 0.50) which suggest partial to complete equilibration during mafic-felsic magma interaction. The coexisting hornblende and plagioclase (hornblende-plagioclase thermometry), Al content in hornblende (aluminum-in-hornblende barometry) and the assemblage titanite-magnetite-quartz were used to constrain the P, T and fO2 during the crystallization of the parent magmas. The Askaoun pluton was emplaced at temperature ca. 504°C - 633°C and at pressure ca. 0.9 - 4.66 ± 0.6 Kbars (average depth = 6.5 km) from a highly oxidized magma (log fO2 = ?24.8 to ?19.2).

Background There is some evidence for the role of vitamin D deficiency in the pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)in the pediatric ***,the results are ***,we have conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluated the effect of vitamin D on pediatric patients with *** We carried out a systematic search in databases from inception until 20 January *** included all relevant articles that evaluate the efficacy and safety of vitamin D on disease activity,inflammatory factors,and vitamin D and calcium levels in pediatric patients with *** effects models were used to combine the *** main outcomes were then analyzed using weight mean difference(WMD)and respective 95%confidence interval(CI).Results Fifteen treatment arms met the eligibility criteria and were *** estimates indicated that intervention with vitamin D has a significantly beneficial effect on 25-hydroxy vitamin D3[25(OH)D3](pooled WMD of 17.662 ng/mL;CI 9.77-25.46;Pmatory factors including C-reactive protein(CRP)(pooled WMD of-6.57 mg/L;CI-11.47 to-1.67;P=0.009)and erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR)(pooled WMD of-7.94 mm/h;CI-12.65 to-3.22;P=0.001)*** addition,this effect was greater for vitamin D levels at doses greater than 2000 IU,and when follow-up duration was more than 12 *** This study showed that vitamin D therapy can have a significant and beneficial effect on 25(OH)D3,calcium,and inflammatory factors in children and adolescents with IBD.

Infrared imaging is a crucial technique in a multitude of applications,including night vision,autonomous vehicle navigation,optical tomography,and food quality *** infrared imaging technologies,however,require the use of materials such as narrow bandgap semiconductors,which are sensitive to thermal noise and often require cryogenic *** demonstrate a compact all-optical alternative to perform infrared imaging in a metasurface composed of GaAs semiconductor nanoantennas,using a nonlinear wave-mixing *** experimentally show the upconversion of short-wave infrared wavelengths via the coherent parametric process of sum-frequency *** this process,an infrared image of a target is mixed inside the metasurface with a strong pump beam,translating the image from the infrared to the visible in a nanoscale ultrathin imaging *** results open up new opportunities for the development of compact infrared imaging devices with applications in infrared vision and life sciences.

Medication Side Effect Profiles in PD Patients in a Safety-Net Hospital

Background: Compulsive behavior, dyskinesias, motor fluctuations, and hallucinations are common Parkinson’s disease (PD) medication side effects. These are yet to be examined in relation to race and level of education. The goal of this analysis was to identify socioeconomic or clinical variables that are associated with compulsive behavior, dyskinesias, motor fluctuations, and hallucinations in patients in a safety-net hospital. Methods: A movement disorder patient database containing 452 patients with idiopathic PD was analyzed for differences in PD medication side effects using univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis. Race, sex, and level of education were evaluated as possible confounders. Results: A greater proportion of the patients in this study were Caucasian males. The only variable associated with compulsive behavior was age, with higher age having a protective effect (p = 0.0336). Disease duration (defined as time since the onset of symptoms), diagnosis duration (time since formal diagnosis), and level of education were significantly associated with dyskinesia inunivariate analysis (p =< 0.0001, <0.0001, 0.1236 respectively). However, diagnosis duration was the only variable significantly associated with dyskinesia in multivariate analysis (p = 0.0038), in addition to a borderline significant association when comparing individuals with graduate degree to those who had completed high school education or less (p = 0.0599), with a protective effect of higher education. Disease duration, diagnosis duration, and use of monoamineoxidase inhibitors were also significantly associated with motor fluctuations in the univariate analysis, while only diagnosis duration was significantly associated with motor fluctuations in multivariate analysis (p = 0.0035) with longer diagnosis duration associated with higher risk of motor fluctuations.
