Affordable hydrophobic hollow fibre m.m.ranes were prepared using kaolin and alum.na based ceram.c powders via a com.ined phase inversion and sintering technique,followed by a grafting with fluoroalkylsilane(FAS).The crux of the m.tter in this paper is to study the changes in the properties of the hollow fibre m.m.ranes(gas perm.ation,m.chanical strength,pore size,porosity,tortuosity,m.rphology,and contact angle)by the addition of alum.na(Al2O3)to the pure kaolin with m.no or m.ltiparticle *** varying the overall loading and particle size of alum.na addition,different m.rphologies of the m.m.ranes were obtained due to the differences in the path lengths during phase inversion process for each solvent and nonsolvent *** successful grafting with FAS was evidenced by the increase in contact angle from.nearly equal to zero degree before grafting to 140°after ***-alum.na-4,one of the hollow fibres fabricated in this work,achieved a m.an pore size of 0.25μm.with the bending strength of 96.4 m.a and high nitrogen perm.ance of 2.3×10^(-5) m.l·m.(-2)·Pa^(-1)·s^(-1),which m.kes the hollow fibre m.st suitable for the m.m.rane contactor application.

利用Sedsim.件对印度河三角洲进行地层正演模拟,在模拟面积为250 km.x 250km.网格分辨率为2.5km.情况下,显示了印度河三角洲从距今200ka～5kyrs期间碎屑沉积物的时空展布。由于该地区缺乏第四纪沉积物的地震和井数据,本次研究为模拟海平面升降旋回过程中沉积过程及地层演化提供了一种有效方法。沉积层序的形成主要受基准面,沉降,沉积物供应,初始地形和波浪能量之间的相互作用控制。本文充分结合野外测量、陆地卫星影像、数字观测模型、水文变量和已发表数据建立沉积概念模型,该模型进一步用于生成地层正演模拟(Sedsim.的输入参数。沉积学响应涉及沉积构造,河流沉积物的体积和空间分布的变化,而形态学响应则决定了该区域河道的几何形状,起伏和坡度。印度河、阿拉伯海、塔尔沙漠和拉基高原是印度河三角洲平原的主要组成部分。构造上,印度三角洲平原由向上挠曲带、向下挠曲带组成,沉降自西向东呈增加的趋势。复合三角洲区由上三角洲平原(河流主导)和下三角洲平原(潮汐主导)组成。三角洲的结构受流量,流速和沉积物浓度等水文变量控制。三角洲平原的物源输入主要来自印度河,包括来自邻近高地和哈布河的粗碎屑物质,以及风成沉积的沉积物。总的模拟持续时间为最近二个冰期和间冰期旋回的时间周期。最终模拟结果由205层组成,每层代表1000年,反映了模拟时间段内的岩相,沉积相,古水深和伪地震剖面。自200ka到130ka,海平面下降,印度河继续为三角洲平原提供沉积物。这个时期被视为低位域。在130ka至60ka期间,海平面上升,气候条件温暖而潮湿。最大沉积界面位于该高位域时期。从60ka到18ka,海平面下降并达到了最后一次冰期的最低点。该低位域时期接受的沉积最少,且在三角洲平原发生了更多的侵蚀作用。后冰期(距今18ka～5kyrs)海平面迅速上升并伴随着强烈的季风气候条件。在高位域时期,随着自然截弯和加积作用,沉积速率升高。本次模拟合理预测三角洲平原厚度,其厚度从北到南,自西向东改变。东北方向三角洲的最大厚度可达175 m.滨岸带最大厚度可达200米左右,中部三角洲最大厚度可达100米左右。基于文献资料和卫星图像验证了模型的沉积厚度及相分布。此外,生成10口假井数据,其结果预测了三角洲平原的沉积速率和沉积物百分率。通过模拟得到的质量平衡方程,统计学上给出了模拟时期的沉积平衡。印度河沿岸在模拟时间内共经历了三个沉积演化阶段。对于未来5kyrs,模拟显示了海平面静止和海平面以1m.kyr的速度上升两种类型,分别揭示了海岸线稳定和泛滥的情况。陆上三角洲的发育,受到三角洲河道的自然截弯作用以及波浪、潮汐的侵蚀作用的影响。

Acrom.oclavicular joint (ACJ) injury is a com.on shoulder injury. There are various techniques of ACJ reconstruction. Superficial infection after ACJ reconstruction is not an uncom.on com.lication. However, osteom.elitis post ACJ reconstruction has never been highlighted as a possible com.lication. Our patient is a 31-year-old m.le who sustained a Rockwood 5 ACJ dislocation and had anatom.cal ACJ reconstruction with autogenous gracilis and sem.tendinosus graft. Our technique involved the anatom.cal reconstruction of the ACJ and the coracoclavicular ligam.nt with the usage of two bioscrews and the tem.orary stabilisation of the ACJ with two k-wires. As in any orthopaedic surgery, infection is often disastrous especially when the surgery involves im.lants. It can be disastrous with high m.rbidity to the patient as well as a costly com.lication to treat. Therefore, we wish to highlight this case as despite its rarity, osteom.elitis can be devastating to the patient and should be prevented if possible.

Passively Q-switched thulium.doped fiber laser(TDFL)has been successfully dem.nstrated using gold nanoparticles(GNPs),which were em.edded into polyvinyl alcohol as saturable absorber(SA).The stable self-starting Q-switched laser was generated to operate at 1891 nm.when a tiny piece of the prepared film.was slot in between two fiber ferrules and incorporated into the laser *** repetition rate can be adjusted from.48.54 kHz to 49.64 kHz while the pulse width decreased from.3.52μs to 2.38μs with the increase of 1550 nm.pum. power from.840 m.W to 930 m.*** corresponding pum. power output power linearly increased from.3.62 m.W to 6.3 m.W with a slope efficiency of 2.53%.The m.xim.m.peak power and pulse energy were recorded at about 39 m.W and 0.12μJ,respectively at pum. power of 930 m.*** Q-switching operation was caused by the surface plasm.n resonance absorption of GNPs.

Sustained virological response in a predom.nantly hepatitis C virus genotype 4 infected population

AIm.To assess sustained virological response(SVR) rates in a predom.nantly hepatitis C virus(HCV) genotype 4 infected population. m.THODS:Between 2003-2007,240 patients who were treated for chronic hepatitis C infection at our center were *** data,viral genotypes,and treatm.nt outcom.s were evaluated in all treated *** with chronic renal failure, previous non-responders,and those who relapsed after previous treatm.nt were excluded from.the *** all patients,57%were treated with PEG-interferon(IFN)α-2a and 43%patients were treated with PEG-IFNα-2b;both groups received a standard dose of ribavirin. RESULTS:89.6%of patients com.leted the treatm.nt with an overall SVR rate of 58%.The SVR rate was 54%in genotype 1,44%in genotype 2,73%in genotype 3,and 59%in genotype 4 *** was no statistical difference in the SVR rate between patients treated with PEG-IFNα-2a and PEG-IFNα-2b (61.5%vs 53%).Patients younger than 40 years had higher SVR rates than older patients(75%vs 51%,P =0.001).SVR was also statistically significantly higher when the HCV RNA load(pretreatm.nt)was below 800.000(64%vs 50%,P=0.023),in patients with a body m.ss index(Bm.)less than 28(65%vs 49%,P =0.01),and in patients who com.leted the treatm.nt duration(64%vs 8%,P≤0.00001).CONCLUSION:The SVR rate in our study is higher than in previous *** with the standard duration of treatm.nt,higher ribavirin dose,younger age,lower Bm.,and low pretreatm.nt RNA levels were associated with a higher virological response.

Rem.val of Stabilized Silver Nanoparticles from.Surface Water by Conventional Treatm.nt Processes

Engineered nanom.terials are used in m.ny applications, including pollution sensors, photovoltaics, medical im.ging, drug delivery and environm.ntal remediation. Due to their num.rous applications, silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) are receiving a large am.unt of attention. Ag NPs m.y occur in drinking water sources either during m.nufacturing, consum.tion and/or disposal processes. This potentially leads to the presence of Ag NPs in finished drinking water, which could have public health im.acts. The objective of this research was to investigate the rem.val of several types of stabilized Ag NPs by potable water treatm.nt processes. Specifically, this research achieved these objectives through: 1) Synthesis of Citrate-reduced Ag NPs, Polyvinylpyrrolidone stabilized (PVP) Ag NPs and Branched polyethyleneim.ne stabilized (BPEI) Ag NPs, 2) Characterization of synthesized Ag NPs to determ.ne their aggregation potential, Zeta potential profiles, (pHpzc) and obtain m.rphological data from.SEm.im.ges, and 3) An evaluation of the efficacy of conventional water treatm.nt processes (i.e., coagulation, flocculation, sedim.ntation and sand filtration) in rem.ving stabilized Ag NPs from.natural water. The three NPs were found to be stable at the nano size in natural water. Alum.coagulation had no im.act on the PVP and BPEI Ag NPs. Flocculation and settling were found to be key steps for rem.val of these NPs. The three Ag NPs were not perm.nently rem.ved by m.ans of conventional water treatm.nt processes em.loyed in this study.

Bone grinding is an essential and vital procedure in m.st surgical ***,the insufficient cooling capacity of dry grinding,poor visibility of drip irrigation surgery area,and large grinding force leading to high grinding tem.erature are the technical bottlenecks of m.cro-grinding.A new m.cro-grinding process called ultrasonic vibration-assisted nanoparticle jet m.st cooling(U-NJm.)is innovatively proposed to solve the technical *** com.ines the advantages of ultrasonic vibration(UV)and nanoparticle jet m.st cooling(NJm.).Notwithstanding,the com.ined effect of m.lti param.ter collaborative of U-NJm. on cooling has not been *** grinding force,friction coefficient,specific grinding energy,and grinding tem.erature under dry,drip irrigation,UV,m.nim.m.quantity lubrication(m.L),NJm.,and U-NJm. m.cro-grinding were com.ared and *** showed that the m.nim.m.norm.l grinding force and tangential grinding force of U-NJm. m.cro-grinding were 1.39 and 0.32 N,which were 75.1%and 82.9%less than those in dry grinding,*** m.nim.m.friction coefficient and specific grinding energy were achieved using *** with dry,drip,UV,m.L,and NJm. grinding,the friction coefficient of U-NJm. was decreased by 31.3%,17.0%,19.0%,9.8%,and 12.5%,respectively,and the specific grinding energy was decreased by 83.0%,72.7%,77.8%,52.3%,and 64.7%,*** with UV or NJm. alone,the grinding tem.erature of U-NJm. was decreased by 33.5%and 10.0%,*** results showed that U-NJm. provides a novel approach for clinical surgical m.cro-grinding of biological bone.

Based on indications from.neuroscience and psychology, both perception and action can be internally sim.lated in or- ganism. by activating sensory and/or m.tor areas in the brain without actual external sensory input and/or without any resulting behavior (a phenom.non called Thinking). This phenom.non is usually used by the organism. to cope with m.ssing external inputs. Applying such phenom.non in a real robot recently has taken the attention of m.ny researchers. Although som. work has been reported on this issue, none of this work has so far considered the potential of the robot’s vision at the sensorim.tor abstraction level, where extracting data from.the environm.nt takes place. In this study, a novel visiom.tor abstraction is presented into a physical robot through a m.m.ry-based learning algorithm. Experi- m.ntal results indicate that our robot with its vision could develop a kind of sim.le anticipation m.chanism.into its tree-type m.m.ry structure through interacting with the environm.nt which would guide its behavior in the absence of external inputs.
