Memory loss and dementia are major public health concerns with a substantial economic *** stress has been shown to play a crucial role in the pathophysiology of hippocampal damage-induced memory *** investigate whether the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compound vanillyla cetone(zingerone) can protect against hippocampal damage and memory loss induced by cadmium chloride(CdCl_(2)) administration in rats,we explo red the potential involvement of the nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2(Nrf2) signaling pathway,which is known to modulate oxidative stress and *** healt hy male Wistar rats were divided into five groups:vehicle-treated(control),vanillylacetone,CdCl_(2),vanillylacetone+ CdCl_(2),vanillylacetone+ CdCl_(2)+ brusatol(a selective pharmacological N rf2inhibitor) *** effectively attenuated CdCl_(2)-induced damage in the dental gyrus of the hippocampus and improved the memory function assessed by the Morris Water Maze ***,vanillylacetone markedly decreased the hippocampal tissue levels of inflammatory biomarkers(interleukin-6,tumor necrosis factor-α,intracellular cell adhesive molecules) and apoptosis biomarkers(Bax and cleaved caspase-3).The control and CdCl_(2)-treated groups treated with va nillylacetone showed reduced generation of reactive oxygen species,decreased malondialdehyde levels,and increased superoxide dismutase and glutathione activities,along with significant elevation of nuclear Nrf2 mRNA and protein expression in hippocampal *** the protective effects of vanillylacetone we re substantially blocked by the co-administration of brusatol(a selective N rf2 inhibitor).Va nillylacetone mitigated hippocampal damage and memory loss induced by CdCl_(2),at least in part, by activating the nuclear transcription factor ***,vanillylacetone exerted its potent antioxidant and antiinflammatory actions.

Combinations of metal and lanthanide oxides have been done through casted films for potential medical applications. In this regard, samarium(Ⅲ) oxide/chromium(Ⅲ) oxide/graphene oxide(GO)/polycaprolactone(PCL) based films nano-composites(NCs) were fabricated, pointing their utilization as a biological scaffold for wound dressing purposes. Also, samarium(Ⅲ) oxide and chromium(Ⅲ) oxide have been merged as promising optical constituents due to their unique optical behavior. The structural and compositional examination of the studied NCs was executed by X-ray diffraction(XRd), Raman, and field emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM). The Sm_(2)O_(3)/Cr_(2)O_(3)/GO/PCL NC exhibits a surface with a lower roughness degree owing to the presence of GO. Cr_(2)O_(3)shows size reduction upon GO insertion to reach 1.2 μm as the average grain size, whilst Sm_(2)O_(3)records an average grain size of less than 1 μm. As well, the polymeric nano-compositions exhibit variation in contact angle values that hit 29.76°± 3.52°for Sm_(2)O_(3)/PCL, and 48.62°± 1.37°for Sm_(2)O_(3)/Cr_(2)O_(3)/GO/PCL as the second lowest contact angle. The optical behavior contributes to absorption edge relocation along the x-axis from 1.7 eV for pure PCL, to 2.65 eV for Sm_(2)O_(3)/Cr_(2)O_(3)/GO/PCL. Regarding biological responses, the cell exposed to 2.5 μg/m L of Sm_(2)O_(3)/Cr_(2)O_(3)/GO/PCL shows cell viability of 119.31%, while 5 μg/m L hits 99.6%. Additionally, the resulting cell attachment micrographs show layers of fibroblast tissue, besides the proliferation and growth of cultivated cells. Thus, the Sm_(2)O_(3)/Cr_(2)O_(3)/GO/PCL scaffold provides 3d proliferation of fibroblast cells endorsing the wound healing process.

Impact of hygienic level on parasite infection

Objective:To find out the prevalence of intestinal parasites among primary school population(the most vulnerable group) in rural and urban areas in south ***:during a medical civic action in the south of Jordan in summer 2000,stool specimens were collected from 2400 primary school children,aged from 6-12 years,and examined for the detection of intestinal parasitic infection from both urban(1 100 samples) and rural(1 300 samples) areas in south ***:The results indicated that the overall prevalence of intestinal parasitic infection was 28.5%.It was more in rural(33.2%) than in urban(23.0%) areas,but no sex difference was *** regard to the type of infection,Giardia lamblia was the commonest intestinal protozoa, with a rate of 42.6%,while Enterobious vermicularis was the commonest helminth recorded in our study with a rate of 5.9%.Conclusions:Health education by health and school authorities is recommended,particular attention should be paid to repairing the sewage disposal system as well as water supply,which acts as main source of water pollution.

Analysis and optimal synthesis of single loop spatial mechanisms

In this work, a systematic approach is presented to obtain the input-output equations of a single loop 4-bar spatial mechanisms. The dialytic method along with denavit-Hartenberg parameters can be used to obtain these equations efficiently. A genetic algorithm （GA） has been used to solve the problem of spatial mechanisms synthesis. Two types of mechanisms, e.g., RSCR and RSPC （R： revolute; S： spherical; C： cylindrical; P： prismatic）, have illustrated the application of the GA to solve the problem of function generation and path generation. In some cases, the GA method becomes trapped in a local minimum. A combined GA-fuzzy logic （GA-FL） method is then used to improve the final result. The results show that GAs, combined with an adequate description of the mechanism, are well suited for spatial mechanism synthesis problems and have neither difficulties inherent to the choice of the initial feasible guess, nor a problem of convergence, as it is the case for deterministic methods.

MOdELING ANd OPTIMIZATION OF CYCLIC HOIST SCHEdULES IN AN ELECTROPLATING LINE

This paper deals with the modeling, analysis and optimization of a specific kind of real industrial problems. This class of problems is known in the literature as Cyclic Hoist Scheduling Problem （CHSP）. In such class of problems, several jobs have to flow through a production line according to an ordered bath sequence. The CHSPs appear in the manufacturing facilities to achieve a mass production and to search a repetitive sequence of moves for the hoist. In this paper, we develop P-Temporal Petri Net models to represent the behavior and validate certain qualitative properties of the basic production line. Afterward, complex configurations of the production line are modeled and their properties such as reachability of desired functioning （cyclic operation）, deadlock-free, resource sharing and management are checked and validated. A mathematical analysis and a simulation study of all proposed Petri net models are carried out using mathematical fundaments of Petri nets and a Visual Object Net ＋＋ tool. The second part of the paper deals with the development of a mixed integer linear programming models to optimize processing of each line configuration. Optimal manufacturing plans of the studied system with cyclic processing sequences are defined and the feasibility of optimal cyclic scheduling of each configuration is proved.

Experimental Investigation of “Scale Influence on Plastic Rotational Capacity of Reinforced Concrete Beams”

The importance of the geometrical effect in practical design has been evaluated, showing that an overestimation of the actual member rotation is very likely if the available rotation capacity is based on the evaluation of the behavior of the reference members within a limited size range. The increase of ductility with decreasing member size has been interpreted in fracture mechanics of reinforced concrete. In fracture mechanics it’s seen that beams with higher dimensions are brittle, while those with small dimensions are ductile, so it’s important here to clarify if the same material and design concepts can be applied for reinforced concrete beams with different scales. Three point bending test was executed on 20 reinforced concrete beams varying scale and slenderness ratio (where steel ratio being kept constant). The experimental results obtained varying beam slenderness and beam depth will be used to analyze the structural response for a practical construction, taking in consideration the size effect, these beams are normally designed in such a way that the distribution of their internal forces over the transversal section has been calculated as per elastic beam theory, while the beam dimension will be designed as per the ultimate limit state to obtain a ductile response of the reinforced concrete beams which is necessary to guarantee the structural safety [1].

Evidence for structural phase transitions and large effective band gaps in quasi-metallic ultra-clean suspended carbon nanotubes

We report evidence for a structural phase transition in individual suspended metallic carbon nanotubes by examining their Raman spectra and electron trans- port under electrostatic gate potentials. The current-gate voltage characteristics reveal anomalously large quasi-metallic band gaps as high as 240 meV, the largest reported to date. For nanotubes with band gaps larger than 200 meV, we observe a pronounced M-shape profile in the gate dependence of the 2d band （or G＇ band） Raman frequency. The pronounced dip （or softening） of the phonon mode near zero gate voltage can be attributed to a structural phase transition （SPT） that occurs at the charge neutrality point （CNP）. The 2d band Raman intensity also changes abruptly near the CNP, providing further evidence for a change in the lattice symmetry and a possible SPT. Pronounced non-adiabatic effects are observed in the gate dependence of the G band Raman mode, however, this behavior deviates from non-adiabatic theory near the CNP. For nanotubes with band gaps larger than 200 meV, non-adiabatic effects should be largely suppressed, which is not observed experimentally. This data suggests that these large effective band gaps are primarily caused by a SPT to an insulating state, which causes the large modulation observed in the conductance around the CNP. Possible mechanisms for this SPT are discussed, including electron-electron （e.g., Mott） and electron-phonon （e.g., Peierls） driven transitions.
