Undoubt.dly, t.e enormous progress observed in recent.years in t.e Ni-rich layered cat.ode mat.rials has been crucial in t.rms of pushing boundaries of t.e Li-ion bat.ery (LIB) t.chnology. t.e achieved improvement. in t.e energy densit., cyclabilit., charging speed, reduced cost., as well as safet. and st.bilit., already cont.ibut. t. t.e wider a.o.t.on of LIBs, which ext.nds nowadays beyond mobile elect.onics, power t.ols, and elect.ic vehicles, t. t.e new range of applicat.ons, including grid st.rage solut.ons. Wit. numerous published papers and broad reviews already available on t.e subject.of Ni-rich oxides, t.is review focuses more on t.e most.recent.progress and new ideas present.d in t.e lit.rat.re references. t.e covered t.pics include doping and composit.on opt.mizat.on, advanced coat.ng, concent.at.on gradient.and single cryst.l mat.rials, as well as innovat.ons concerning new elect.olyt.1} and t.eir modificat.on, wit. t.e applicat.on of Ni-rich cat.odes in solid-st.t. bat.eries also discussed.
