Acetyl-11-keto-beta-boswellic acid promotes sciatic nerve repair after injury: molecular mechanism

Previous studies showed that acetyl-11-keto-beta-boswellic acid(AKBA),the active ingredient in the natural Chinese medicine Boswellia,can stimulate sciatic nerve injury repair via promoting Schwann cell proliferation.However,the underlying molecular mechanism remains poorly understood.In this study,we performed genomic sequencing in a rat model of sciatic nerve crush injury after gastric AKBA administration for 30 days.We found that the phagosome pathway was related to AKBA treatment,and brain-derived neurotrophic factor expression in the neurotrophic factor signaling pathway was also highly up-regulated.We further investigated gene and protein expression changes in the phagosome pathway and neurotrophic factor signaling pathway.Myeloperoxidase expression in the phagosome pathway was markedly decreased,and brain-derived neurotrophic factor,nerve growth factor,and nerve growth factor receptor expression levels in the neurotrophic factor signaling pathway were greatly increased.Additionally,expression levels of the inflammatory factors CD68,interleukin-1β,pro-interleukin-1β,and tumor necrosis factor-αwere also decreased.Myelin basic protein-andβ3-tubulin-positive expression as well as the axon diameter-to-total nerve diameter ratio in the injured sciatic nerve were also increased.These findings suggest that,at the molecular level,AKBA can increase neurotrophic factor expression through inhibiting myeloperoxidase expression and reducing inflammatory reactions,which could promote myelin sheath and axon regeneration in the injured sciatic nerve.

Erector Spinae Plane Block Combined with Serratus Anterior Plane Block Versus Thoracic Paravertebral Block for Postoperative Analgesia and Recovery After Thoracoscopic Surgery:A Randomized Controlled Non-inferiority Clinical Trial

Objective This study aimed to compare the postoperative analgesia and recovery of ultrasound-guided erector spinae plane block combined with serratus anterior plane block(ESPB combined with SAPB)versus thoracic paravertebral block(PVB)after thoracoscopic surgery.Methods Ninety-two patients who underwent video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery(VATS)were randomly divided into group S(n=46)and group P(n=46).After anesthesia induction,the same anesthesiologist performed ultrasound-guided ESPB at T5 and T7 levels combined with SAPB at the level of the fifth rib in the midaxillary line in group S and ultrasound-guided PVB at T5 and T7 levels in group P.Patients in both groups were given 40 mL of 0.4%ropivacaine.Eighty-six patients completed the study(group S,n=44;group P,n=42).The morphine consumption,visual analogue scale(VAS)scores at rest and coughing,and frequency of remedial analgesia were recorded at 1,2,4,8,and 24 h postoperatively.Pulmonary function parameters were recorded at 1,4,and 24 h postoperatively,and the quality of recovery(QoR)-15 score at 24 h postoperatively.The adverse effects,duration of chest tube drainage and length of stay were also recorded.Results The morphine consumption at postoperative 4 and 8 h and the incidence of ipsilateral shoulder pain(ISP)were significantly lower in group S than in group P.The QoR-15 questionnaire score at postoperative 24 h was significantly lower in group P than in group S(Pmorphine consumption was lower at 24 h postoperatively in group S than in group P,with no significant difference found yet.The morphine consumption at other observed times,VAS scores,pulmonary function parameters,frequency of remedial analgesia,duration of chest tube drainage,length of stay,and incidence of other adverse events were comparable between group S and group P.Conclusion Ultrasound-guided ESPB combined with SAPB is non-inferior to PVB in terms of morphine consumption at postoperative 24 h and postoperative recovery.But,this approach can significantly reduce morphine consumpti

Ideal tissue engineering scaffolds need interconnected pores and high porosity to enable cell survival,migration,proliferation,and differentiation.However,obtaining a high-resolution structure is difficult with traditional one-temperature control fused deposition modeling(FDM).In this study,we propose a dual-temperature control method to improve printability.A numerical model is developed in which the viscosity is a function of temperature and shear rate to study the influence of two different temperature control modes.Quantitative tests are used to assess filament formation and shape fidelity,including one-dimensional filament printing,deposition at corners,fusion,and collapse.By using dual-temperature control,the width of the deposited poly(ε-caprolactone)filament is reduced to 50μm.The comparative results of both the experimental method and numerical simulation suggest that the dual-temperature control FDM can manufacture spatially arranged constructs and presents a promising application in tissue engineering。

Imaging field-tuned quantum Hall broken-symmetry orders and the quantum Hall conducting channel in a charge-neutral graphene/WSe_(2) heterostructure

The zeroth Landau level(0LL)in graphene has emerged as a flat band platform in which distinct many-body phases can be explored with unprecedented control by simply tuning the strength and/or direction of the magnetic field.A rich set of quantum Hall ferromagnetic phases with different lattice-scale symmetry-breaking orders are predicted to be realized in high magnetic fields when the 0LL in graphene is half-filled.Here we report on a field-tuned continuous phase transition of different valley orderings in a quantum Hall ferromagnetic phase of charge-neutral graphene on insulating tungsten diselenide(WSe_(2)).The phase transition is clearly revealed by an anomalous field-dependent energy gap in the half-filled 0LL.Using atomic resolution imaging of electronic wavefunctions during the phase transition,we unexpectedly observe the microscopic signatures of fieldtuned continuous-varied valley polarization and valley inversion,which are beyond current theoretical predictions.moreover,the quantum Hall conducting channel of the graphene is directly imaged when the substrate(WSe_(2))introduces band bending of the 0LL.

Straw-returning reduces the contribution of microbial anabolism to salt-affected soil organic carbon accumulation over a salinity gradient

●In low-salinity soil,straw-returning did not change necromass contribution to SOC.●In medium-salinity soil,straw-returning reduced necromass contribution to SOC.●Straw-returning reduced POC contribution to SOC in low-salinity soil.●Straw-returning increased POC contribution to SOC in medium-salinity soil.●Salinity affects the contribution of microbial-derived and plant-derived C to SOC.Salinization affects microbial-mediated soil organic carbon(SOC)dynamics.However,the mechanisms of SOC accumulation under agricultural management practices in salt-affected soils remain unclear.We investigated the relative contribution of microbial-derived and plant-derived C to SOC accumulation in coastal salt-affected soils under straw-returning,by determining microbial necromass biomarkers(amino sugars)and particulate organic C(POC).Results showed that,straw-returning increased necromass accumulation in low-salinity soil but did not change its contribution to SOC.In medium-salinity soil,straw-returning did not increase necromass accumulation but decreased its contribution to SOC.In low-and medium-salinity soils,the contribution of POC to SOC showed the opposite direction to that of the necromass.These results suggest that under straw-returning,the relative contribution of microbial-derived C to SOC decreased with increasing salinity,whereas the reverse was true for plant-derived C.Our results highlighted that straw-returning reduces the contribution of microbial anabolism to SOC accumulation in salt-affected soils with increasing salinity.

Approximately 10%–20%myeloproliferative neoplasms(MPNs)can progress into blast-phase MPNs,also termed secondary acute myeloid leukemias(sAMLs),presenting dismal prognoses.sAML exhibits a distinctive clinical and pathological profile compared to de novo AML,marked by a higher incidence of erythroid leukemias and reduced responsive to conventional chemotherapies,resulting in a median survival of approximately 6 months.TP53 alterations are prevalent adverse events in leukemic transformation(LT),occurring in around one-third of sAML subjects.

Intelligent wars can take place not only in the physical domain and information domain but also in the cognitive domain.The cognitive domain will become the key domain to win in the future intelligent war.A Lanchester equation considering cognitive domain is proposed to fit the development tendency intelligent wars in this paper.One party is considered to obtain the exponential enhancement advantage on combat forces in combat if it can gain an advantage in the cognitive domain over the other party according to the systemic advantage function.The operational effectiveness of the cognitive domain in war is considered to consist of a series of indicators.Hesitant fuzzy sets and linguistic term sets are powerful tools when evaluating indicators,hence the indicators are scored by experts using hesitant fuzzy linguistic terms sets here.A unique hesitant fuzzy hybrid arithmetical averaging operator is used to aggregate the evaluation.

Cu_(2)Se@C thin film with three-dimensional braided structure as a cathode material for enhanced Cu^(2+) storage

In the face of multiple challenges brought by the changes of global climate and environment,developing clean energy and updating green energy storage equipment are important ways to achieve carbon peak and carbon neutrality.Aqueous batteries have become a research hotspot due to their advantages of using the multivalent charge carrier,high ionic conductivity,environmental friendliness and cost effectiveness.In this work,the Cu_(2)Se@C(Cu_(2)Se coated on carbon clothes)thin film with a three-dimensional braided structure is fabricated by a simple electrochemical deposition method for Cu^(2+)storage for the first time.Compared with the commercial Cu_(2)Se powder,the well-designed Cu_(2)Se@C film shows enhanced specific capacity(640 mAh/g at 0.5 A/g)and rate performance(542 mAh/g at 5 A/g)as well as superior cycling stability(82.7%capacity retention after 1000 cycles at 1 A/g).The Cu^(2+)storage mechanism of the Cu_(2)Se@C electrode is based on a reversible phase transition process of Cu_(2)Se←→Cu_(2-x)Se←→CuSe←→CuSe_(2).In kinetic characteristic analysis,the Cu_(2)Se@C electrode demonstrates faster Cu^(2+)diffusion in discharge process than charge process resulting from the phase transition and the variation of interplanar spacing.This work highlights a facile one-piece design strategy and opens a new gateway for the exploration of advanced aqueous energy storage systems.

Novel interface regulation of Sn1.0Ag0.5Cu composite solders reinforced with modified ZrO_(2):Microstructure and mechanical properties

With the trends of miniaturization and high density of electronic packaging,there has been an urgent demand to open up lead-free solders with high strength and ductility.In this study,a ZrO_(2)-reinforced Sn1.0Ag0.5Cu composite solder was designed.First,surface modification on ZrO_(2) was conducted with ball milling-pyrolysis method.Subsequently,NiO modified ZrO_(2)(NiO/ZrO_(2))was added to the solder matrix with ultrasonic stirring.The morphology and interface of NiO/ZrO_(2) were discussed.moreover,the microstructure,interface and mechanical properties of the composite solders were systematically studied.The results showed that NiO nanoparticles were evenly adhered to the ZrO_(2) surface,and the interface relationship between them was semi-coherent and coherent.Further,an appropriate addition of NiO/ZrO_(2) could refine the microstructure of composite solders.The refinement mechanism was systematically investigated.Besides,a micro-mechanical lock and non-micropored clean interface was formed between NiO/ZrO_(2) and the solder matrix.The Sn/NiO/ZrO_(2) interface system based on mutual solid solution was ingeniously designed.The ultimate tensile strength and elongation were increased synergistically,and the fracture mechanism transformed from a ductile−brittle mixed fracture mode to a ductile fracture mode.Therefore,a lead-free solder with high strength and ductility was obtained.
