In this study,the effect of core bar inserted into weld faying part to obtain an ideal pipe joint with non-generating inner flash via friction welding is described.A steel pipe with inner and outer diameters corresponding to 8.0 mm and 13.5 mm was used,and the weld faying surface was machined to a groove shape of a flat(butt)*** core bar of various materials was inserted in the weld faying part of the pipes,and those pipes were welded with a friction speed of 27.5 s−1 and friction pressure of 30 *** core bars did not decrease inner flash when joints were fabricated with a core bar of some metallic materials with melting points below that of steel;thus,they were melted during the welding *** joint with an alumina core bar did not decrease inner flash and was crushed by generating an inner ***,a commercially pure tungsten(CP-W)core bar was successfully achieved for decreasing the inner ***,all joints with a CP-W core bar did not exhibit the tensile strength of the base metal and a fracture in the base metal,when they were fabricated during the same time,the friction torque reached the initial *** joint exhibited a fracture in the base metal when it was fabricated with a CP-W core bar and a taper groove shape that was proposed in the previous ***,the core bars were easily removed from the joints;thus the joint with almost no inner flash was successfully *** reduce the inner flash of pipe joints,they should be fabricated with a CP-W core bar inserted into the weld faying part with a taper groove shape.

Despite the high mutation rate of HIV-1,the amino acid sequences of the membrane-spanning domain(MSD)of HIV-1 gp41 are well *** residues are rarely found in single membrane-spanning domains,yet an arginine residue,R696(the numbering is based on that of HXB2),is highly conserved in HIV-1 *** examine the role of R696,it was mutated to K,A,I,L,D,E,N,and *** of these substitutions did not affect the expression,processing or surface distribution of the envelope protein(Env).However,a syncytia formation assay showed that the substitution of R696 with amino acid residues other than K,a naturally observed mutation in the gp41 MSD,decreased fusion *** with hydrophobic amino acid residues(A,I,and L)resulted in a modest decrease,while substitution with D or E,potentially negatively-charged residues,almost abolished the syncytia *** the fusion-defective mutants showed slower kinetics with the cell-based dual split protein(DSP)assay that scores the degree of membrane fusion based on pore formation between fusing ***,the D and E substitutions did show some fusion activity in the DSP assays,suggesting that proteins containing D or E substitutions retained some fusion pore-forming ***,nascent pores failed to develop,due probably to impaired activity in the pore enlargement *** data show the importance of this conserved arginine residue for efficient membrane fusion.

AIM： To study the in vitro and in vivo inhibitory effects of genistein on invasive potential of Bel 7402 hepatocellular carcinoma （HCC） cells and to explore the underlying mechanism. METHODS： Bel 7402 HCC cells were exposed to genistein. The invasive activity of tumor cells was assayed in transwell cell culture chamber, p125^FAK expression and cell cycle were evaluated by a functional assay. Cell apoptosis analysis was performed with TUNEL method. In addition, bilateral subrenal capsule xenograft transplantation of HCC was performed in 10 nude mice. Genistein was injected and the invasion of HCC into the renal parenchyma was observed. Nicrovessels with immunohistochemical staining were detected. RESULTS： Genistein significantly inhibited the growth of Bel 7402 cells, the inhibitory rate of tumor cells was 26 -42%. The invasive potential of Bel 7402 cells in vitro was significantly inhibited, the inhibitory rate was 11- 28%. Genistein caused G2/M cell cycle arrest, S phase decreased significantly. The occurrence of apoptosis in genistein group increased significantly. The expression of p125^FAK in 5 μg/mL genistein group （15.26±0.16%） and 10 μg/mL genistein group （12.89±0.36%） was significantly lower than that in the control group （19.75± 1.12%, P〈0.05）. Tumor growth in genistein-treated nude mice was significantly retarded in comparison to control mice, the inhibitory rate of tumor growth was about 20%. Genistein also significantly inhibited the invasion of Bel 7402 cells into the renal parenchyma of nude mice with xenograft transplant. The positive unit value of microvessels in genistein-treated group （10.422 ±0.807） was significantly lower than that in control group （22.330 ± 5.696, P〈 0.01）. CONCLUSION： Genistein can effectively inhibit the invasive potential of Bel 7402 HCC cells by altering cell cycle, apoptosis and angiogenesis, inhibition of focal adhesion kinase may play a significant role in this process.

The purpose of this work is to study the effect of a type of water-saving irrigation （WSI） on nutrient runoff of paddy field. The volume of surface drainage was maintained low by WSI. In particular, WSI effectively reduced surface drainage in rain events. Model simulation indicated that net runoff load of total nitrogen （TN） from the paddy field was increased by WSI. Meanwhile, net runoff loads of total phosphorus （TP） and total organic carbon （TOC） from the paddy field was decreased by WSI. Because ponding waters of the study fields were enriched with TP and TOC, WSI reduced runoff of these nutrients by controlling the volume of surface drainage. WSI could be considered an efficient method for reducing runoff loads and could conserve water quality in an agricultural watershed.

SLC6A4 （solute carrier family 6, member 4） gene encodes a serotonin transporter （5-hydroxytryptamine transporter, HTT）, which transports synaptic serotonin into presynaptic terminal. Therapeutic barium enema for bleeding colonic diverticula:Four case series and review of the literature

The prevalence of diverticular diseases of the colon, including severe and persistent bleeding in Eastern countries, has increased in the last decades. The bleeding from colonic diverticula is the most common cause of acute lower gastrointestinal bleeding. Herein, we report four cases of severe and persistent bleeding of colonic diverticular disease that could be treated with a high concentration barium enema. These four cases showed a similar pattern of bleeding whose source could not be identified. Colonoscopy revealed fresh blood in the entire colon and many diverticula were noted throughout the colon. No active bleeding source was identified, but large adherent clots in some diverticula were noted. After endoscopic and angiographic therapies failed, therapeutic barium enema stopped the severe bleeding. These patients remained free of re-bleeding in the follow-up period (range 17-35 mo) after the therapy. We report the four case series of therapeutic barium enema and reviewed the literature pertinent to this procedure.

Effect of risedronate on speed of sound in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis

AIM: To examine the effects of treatment with risedronate for 1 year on speed of sound(SOS) of the calcaneus and bone turnover markers in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis. METHODS: Thirty-eight postmenopausal women with osteoporosis who had been treated with risedronate for > 1 year were enrolled in the study. The SOS and bone turnover markers were monitored during treatment with risedronate for 1 year. RESULTS: The urinary levels of cross-linked N-terminal telopeptides of type Ⅰ collagen and serum levels of alkaline phosphatase were significantly decreased at 3 mo(-34.7%) and 12 mo(-21.2%), respectively, compared with the baseline values. The SOS increased modestly, but significantly by 0.65% at 12 mo compared with the baseline value. Treatment with risedronate elicited an increase in the SOS of the calcaneus exceeding the coefficient of variation in vivo(0.27%). CONCLUSION: The present study confirmed that risedronate suppressed bone turnover and elicited a clinically significant increase in the SOS of the calcaneus in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis.
