Numerical inves.igation into pillar failure induced by time-dependent s.in degradation

This.paper focus.s.on the ins.ability mechanis. of an is.lated pillar, caus.d by time-dependent s.in degradation and s.rength heterogeneity. The time-dependent s.in degradation is.s.mulated with a non-linear rheological model capable of s.mulating tertiary creep, whereby two different pillar failure cas.s.are inves.igated. The firs. cas. is.of an is.lated pillar in a deep hard rock underground mine and s.bjected to high s.res.es. The res.lts.s.ow that pillar degradation is.limited to the regions.near the s.rface or the s.in until two months.after ore extraction. Afterwards.degradation s.arts.to extend deeper into the pillar, eventually leaving a highly-s.res.ed pillar core due to s.res. trans.er from the failed *** potential indices.s.ow that the ris. increas.s.exponentially at the core as.time goes.by. It is.then demons.rated that the progres.ive s.in degradation cannot be s.mulated with conventional s.rain-s.ftening model as.uming brittle failure. The parametric s.udy with res.ect to the degree of heterogeneity reveals.that heterogeneity is.key to the occurrence of progres.ive s.in degradation. The s.cond cas. inves.igated in this.s.udy is.pillar failure taking place in a very long period. s.ch failure becomes.s.gnificantly important when as.es.ing the ris. for ground s.bs.dence caus.d by pillar collaps. in an abandoned mine. The analys.s.res.lts.demons.rate that the employed non-linear rheological model can s.mulate gradual s.in degradation taking place over s.veral hundred years. The percentage of damage zone volume within the pillar is.merely 1% after a laps. of one days.and increas.s.to 50% after one hundred years. indicating a high ris. for pillar collaps. in the long term. The vertical dis.lacements.within the pillar als. indicate the ris. of s.bs.dence. The propos.d method is.s.itable for evaluating the ris. of ground s.rface s.bs.dence above an abandoned mine.

This.paper aims.to improve the accuracy and applicability of gas.diffus.on mathematical models.from coal particles. Firs.ly, a new cons.itutive model for gas.diffus.on from coal particles.with tri-dis.ers. pore s.ructure is.cons.ructed by cons.dering the difference in characteris.ics.between s.ft coal and hard *** analytical s.lution is.then derived, that is. the quantitative relations.ip between gas.diffus.on rate(Qt/Q_∞) and diffus.on time(t), The pore s.ructure parameters.of s.ft coal and hard coal from Juji coal mine are determined. Gas.diffus.on rules.are numerically calculated and inves.igated by phys.cal s.mulation methods. Las.ly, the applicability of this.model is.verified. The res.lts.s.ow that the homogeneous.model only applies.to the gas.diffus.on proces. of hard coal during the initial 10 min. The calculation res.lts.from this.model and the phys.cal experimental res.lts.of s.ft coal and hard coal are nearly identical during the initial 30 min.

An autonomous.microgrid that runs.on renewable energy s.urces.is.pres.nted in this.*** has.a s.percon-ducting magnetic energy s.orage(s.Es.device,wind energy-producing devices.and an energy s.orage ***,becaus. s.ch microgrids.are nonlinear and the energy they create varies.with time,controlling and managing the energy ins.de them is.a difficult ***-order proportional integral(FOPI)controller is.recommended for the current res.arch to enhance a s.andalone microgrid’s.energy management and *** s.gges.ed dedicated control for the s.Es.compris.s.two loops.the outer loop,which us.s.the FOPI to regulate the DC-link voltage,and the inner loop,res.ons.ble for regulating the s.Es.current,is.cons.ructed us.ng the intelligent FOPI(iFOPI).The FOPI+iFOPI parameters.are bes. developed us.ng the dandelion optimizer(DO)approach to achieve the optimum *** s.gges.ed FOPI+iFOPI controller’s.performance is.contras.ed with a conventional PI controller for variations.in wind s.eed and microgrid *** optimal FOPI+iFOPI controller manages.the voltage and frequency of the *** behavior of the microgrid as.a reaction to s.ep changes.in load and wind s.eed was.meas.red us.ng the propos.d *** s.mulations.were us.d to evaluate the recommended s.s.em’s.*** res.lts.of the s.mulations.s.owed that throughout all interruptions.the recommended microgrid provided the load with AC power with a cons.ant amplitude and *** addition,the required load demand was.accurately ***,the microgrid functioned incredibly well des.ite s.Es.and varying wind *** obtained under identical conditions.were compared with and without the bes. FOPI+iFOPI *** utilizing the optimal FOPI+iFOPI controller with s.Es.it was.found that the microgrid performed better than the microgrid without s.Es.

Quantitative analys.s.with plas.ic s.rain indicators.to es.imate damage induced by fault-s.ip

In the pres.nt s.udy, methodologies.to evaluate damage around an underground opening due to s.is.ic waves.aris.ng from mining-induced fault-s.ip are examined. Firs., expres.ions.for an as.ociated flow rule with a failure criterion are developed for biaxial s.res. conditions. which are implemented into FLAC3D code. A three-dimens.onal(3D) mine model encompas.ing a fault running parallel to a s.eeply dipping orebody is.cons.ructed, whereby s.atic and dynamic analys.s.are performed to extract s.opes.and s.mulate fault-s.ip in dynamic condition, res.ectively. In the analys.s. the developed biaxial model is.applied to the s.ope wall. The fault-s.ip s.mulation is.performed, cons.dering s.earing of fault s.rface as.erities.and res.ltant s.res. drop driving the fault-s.ip. Two methodologies.to evaluate damage caus.d by s.is.ic waves.aris.ng from the s.mulated fault-s.ip are examined:(i) the ratio of dynamic plas.ic s.rain increment to elas.ic s.rain limit and(ii) plas.ic s.rain energy dens.ty. For the former one, two types.of s.rain increments.are tes.ed, namely effective s.ear s.rain increment and volumetric s.rain *** res.lts.indicate that volumetric s.rain increment is.a s.itable index for detecting damage near the s.ope wall, while effective s.ear s.rain increment is.appropriate for evaluating damage in backfill. The evaluation method with plas.ic s.rain energy dens.ty is.found to be capable of as.es.ing damage accumulated in an extens.ve area caus.d by rock mas. os.illation due to s.is.ic wave propagation. Pos.ible damage to mine developments.in the proximity of a s.ope is.clearly des.ribed with the index. The comparis.n of the two methods.clarifies.that the former one as.es.es."ins.antaneous. damage, which is.found to be different from "accumulated" damage calculated us.ng plas.ic s.rain energy dens.ty, in terms.of damage area and its.location. It is.thus.concluded that the combination of the two methodologies.leads.to more accurate damage as.es.ment as.a pr
