Detection and segmentation of defocus blur is a challenging task in digital imaging applications as the blurry images comprise of blur and sharp regions that wrap significant information and require effective methods for information *** defocus blur detection and segmentation methods have several limitations i.e.,discriminating sharp smooth and blurred smooth regions,low recognition rate in noisy images,and high computational cost without having any prior knowledge of images i.e.,blur degree and camera ***,there exists a dire need to develop an effective method for defocus blur detection,and segmentation robust to the above-mentioned *** paper presents a novel features descriptor local directional mean patterns(LDMP)for defocus blur detection and employ KNN matting over the detected LDMP-Trimap for the robust segmentation of sharp and blur *** argue/hypothesize that most of the image fields located in blurry regions have significantly less specific local patterns than those in the sharp regions,therefore,proposed LDMP features descriptor should reliably detect the defocus blurred *** fusion of LDMP features with KNN matting provides superior performance in terms of obtaining high-quality segmented regions in the ***,the proposed LDMP features descriptor is robust to noise and successfully detects defocus blur in high-dense noisy *** results on Shi and Zhao datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method in terms of defocus blur *** and comparative analysis signify that our method achieves superior segmentation performance and low computational cost of 15 seconds.

We investigate the effect of the ballistic mechanism on the phase diagram using a square surface. While using this mechanism whenever an O2 molecule hits a randomly vacant selected site, the molecule breaks up into atomic form and then executes a ballistic flight. The paths of the two oxygen atoms are taken exactly to be opposite to each other, ***-parallel, and the ranges of the atoms are taken to be equal, *** may fly up to 1 or 1.414 or 2 of the atomic spacing from the site of impact. Four cases have been studied on the basis of the range of hot atoms. The range of the hot oxygen atoms executing a ballistic flight might be up to the first nearest neighbourhood (1 atomic spacing from the site of impact), the second nearest neighbourhood (1.414 atomic spacing from the site of impact), the third nearest neighbourhood (2 atomic spacing from the site of impact), known as cases a, b, and c, respectively, while for case d the range of the oxygen atoms executing the ballistic flight might be up to 1 atomic spacing or 1.414 atomic spacing or 2 atomic spacing from the site of impact. The steady reactive window is observed and the continuous transition disappears. As soon as the CO partial pressure departs from zero, the production of CO2 is observed, which clearly verifies the experimental observation.

Zika virus(ZIKV)is the causative agent of a viral infection that causes neurological complications in newborns and adults *** wide transmission route and alarming spread rates are of great concern to the scientific *** trials have been conducted to develop treatment options for ZIKV *** review highlights the latest developments in the fields of vaccinology and pharmaceuticals developments for ZIKV infection.A systematic and comprehensive approach was used to gather relevant and up-to-date data so that inferences could be made about the gaps in therapeutic *** results indicate that several therapeutic interventions are being tested against ZIKV infection,such as DNA vaccines,subunit vaccines,live-attenuated vaccines,virus-vector-based vaccines,inactivated vaccines,virus-like particles,and mRNA-based *** addition,approved anti-ZIKV drugs that can reduce the global burden are *** many vaccine candidates for ZIKV are at different stages of development,none of them have received Food and Drug Authority approval for use up to *** issue of side effects associated with these drugs in vulnerable newborns and pregnant women is a major obstacle in the therapeutic pathway.

One of the challenging problems with evolutionary computing algorithms is to maintain the balance between exploration and exploitation capability in order to search global optima.A novel convergence track based adaptive differential evolution(CTbADE)algorithm is presented in this research *** crossover rate and mutation probability parameters in a differential evolution algorithm have a significant role in searching global optima.A more diverse population improves the global searching capability and helps to escape from the local optima *** the convergence path over time helps enhance the searching speed of a differential evolution algorithm for varying *** adaptive powerful parameter-controlled sequences utilized learning period-based memory and following convergence track over time are introduced in this *** proposed algorithm will be helpful in maintaining the equilibrium between an algorithm’s exploration and exploitation capability.A comprehensive test suite of standard benchmark problems with different natures,i.e.,unimodal/multimodal and separable/non-separable,was used to test the convergence power of the proposed CTbADE *** results show the significant performance of the CTbADE algorithm in terms of average fitness,solution quality,and convergence speed when compared with standard differential evolution algorithms and a few other commonly used state-of-the-art algorithms,such as jDE,CoDE,and EPSDE *** algorithm will prove to be a significant addition to the literature in order to solve real time problems and to optimize computationalmodels with a high number of parameters to adjust during the problem-solving process.

AIM: To determine utility of transplant liver biopsy in evaluating efficacy of percutaneous transluminal angioplasty(PTA) for hepatic venous obstruction(HVOO). METHODS: Adult liver transplant patients treated with PTA for HVOO(2003-2013) at a single institution were reviewed for pre/post-PTA imaging findings, manometry(gradient with right atrium), presence of HVOO on prePTA and post-PTA early and late biopsy(EB and LB, 60 d after PTA), and clinical outcome, defined as good(no clinical issues, non-HVOO-related death) or poor(surgical correction, recurrent HVOO, or HVOOrelated death). RESULTS: Fifteen patients meeting inclusion criteria underwent 21 PTA, 658 ± 1293 d after *** procedures with pre-PTA biopsy(n = 19), no difference was seen between pre-PTA gradient in 13/19 procedures with HVOO on biopsy and 6/19 procedures without HVOO(8 ± 2.4 mm Hg vs 6.8 ± 4.3 mm Hg; P = 0.35). Post-PTA, 10/21 livers had EB(29 ± 21 d) and 9/21 livers had LB(153 ± 81 d). On clinical follow-up(392 ± 773 d), HVOO on LB resulted in poor outcomes and absence of HVOO on LB resulted good outcomes. Patients with HVOO on EB(3/7 good, 4/7 poor) and no HVOO on EB(2/3 good, 1/3 poor) had mixed outcomes. CONCLUSION: Negative liver biopsy greater than 60 d after PTA accurately identifies patients with good clinical outcomes.

This paper examines traversable wormhole models in the f(R) theories of gravity by applying the Karmarkar condition. For this purpose, we consider spherically symmetric space-time to examine the structure of wormholes. First, we investigate wormholes and their geometry using the redshift function under various conditions. Subsequently, we discuss the embedding diagram of the upper and lower universe using radial coordinates in two and three-dimensional Euclidean affine space. Three exclusive models are considered for the f(R) theories of gravity,and the radial and tangential pressures are observed. Furthermore, by taking a definite shape function, we observe the behavior of energy conditions. We determine that energy conditions are violated, and their violation is generic and represents the presence of exotic matter. According to Einstein’s field theory, the existence of wormholes is predicated on the occurrence of rare material. Hence, we conclude that our study is more realistic and stable.
