Mercury （Hg） is one of the commonly encountered heavy metals, which is widespread in inshore sediments of China. In order to investigate the toxicity of Hg on marine invertebrates, we studied the effects of the divalent mercuricion （Hg2＋）（at two final concentrations of 0.0025 and 0.0050mgL-1, prepared with HgC12） on metallothionein （MT） content, DNA integrity （DNA strand breaks） and catalase （CAT） in the gills and hepatopancreas, antioxidant enzyme activities of superoxide dismutase （SOD）, catalase （CAT） and glutathione peroxidase （GPx）, in the hemolymph, gills and hepatopancreas of the portunid crab Chao,bdisjaponica for an experiment period up to 15 d. The results indicated that MT was significantly induced after 3 d, with a positive correlation with Hg2＋ dose and time in the hepatopancreas and a negative correlation with Hg2＋ dose and time in the gills. While CAT in the hemolymph was not detected, it increased in the hepatopancreas during the entire experiment; SOD and GPx in the three tissues were stimulated after 12h, both attained peak value and then reduced during the experimental period. Meanwhile, DNA strand breaks were all induced significantly after 12 h. These results suggested the detoxification strategies against Hg2＋ in three tissues of C. japonica.

This paper is concerned with the tracking control problem for continuous-time Takagi-Sugeno(T-S) fuzzy *** is focused on the design of a tracking controller attenuating the tracking error as small as possible in the H performance *** for designing tracking controller are established based on a novel nonquadratic Lyapunov function whose integral structure allows circumventing the well known problem of handing time-derivatives of membership functions(MFs).It is shown that conditions for the solvability of the tracking controller design given here are written in the form of linear matrix inequality(LMI) which can be efficiently solved by convex optimization *** simulation example is given to demonstrate the validity of the proposed approach.

In this paper， we present an approach to generating probabilistic hazard maps for earthquake-induced landslides using the Newmark Displacement Model， NDM. This model takes the uncertainties associated with the slope properties （e.g.， soil shear strengths， groundwater table location） into consideration， which is coupled with the hydrological model based on geomorphological， geological， geotechnical， seismological， and rainfall data. Uncertainties and fluctuations in the input parameters of the NDM are considered by treating these quantities as Beta-PERT distributions through Monte Carlo techniques， which allows probability value of the NDM to be cast into hazard maps. Additionally， incorporating Monte Carlo techniques can avoid using conservative input parameters in a deterministic approach to capture these uncertainties. Taking the 2017 Jiuzhaigou Mw 6.5 earthquake in Sichuan Province， Western China as an example， earthquake-induced landslides probability distribution map is generated with the most appropriate displacement threshold （λ=1cm）. Our results show good performances for realistic landslide hazard assessment， which can serve as a basis for providing a reference for the prediction of earthquake-induced landslide probability and rapid landslide hazard assessment after a strong earthquake.

Percolating composites with negative permittivity can be promising candidates for ***,novel all-organic composite films containing of random coil polypyrrole(PPy)and poly(-vinylidene fluoride)(PVDF)are fabricated via a solution casting *** random coil PPy is prepared by oxidative template assembly approach for the first *** experimental result indicates that the negative permittivity is easily adjusted through controlling the random coil PPy ***,the random coil PPy contents exceeded 7 wt% the negative permittivity appear attributed to the formation of 3D interconnected PPy *** facile approach not only opens a new way to preparing negative permittivity of all-organic composite films,but also points out a route to facilitate the practical applications of metamaterials.

This study aims to discriminate between leucine-rich glioma-inactivated 1(LGI1)antibody encephalitis and gammaaminobutyric acid B(GABAB)receptor antibody encephalitis using a convolutional neural network(CNN)model.A total of 81 patients were recruited for this ***18,VGG16,and ResNet50 were trained and tested separately using 3828 positron emission tomography image slices that contained the medial temporal lobe(MTL)or basal ganglia(BG).Leave-one-out cross-validation at the patient level was used to evaluate the CNN *** receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve and the area under the ROC curve(AUC)were generated to evaluate the CNN *** on the prediction results at slice level,a decision strategy was employed to evaluate the CNN models’performance at patient *** ResNet18 model achieved the best performance at the slice(AUC=0.86,accuracy=80.28%)and patient levels(AUC=0.98,accuracy=96.30%).Specifically,at the slice level,73.28%(1445/1972)of image slices with GABAB receptor antibody encephalitis and 87.72%(1628/1856)of image slices with LGI1 antibody encephalitis were accurately *** the patient level,94.12%(16/17)of patients with GABAB receptor antibody encephalitis and 96.88%(62/64)of patients with LGI1 antibody encephalitis were accurately *** of the image slices extracted using gradient-weighted class activation mapping indicated that the model focused on the MTL and BG for *** general,the ResNet18 model is a potential approach for discriminating between LGI1 and GABAB receptor antibody *** in the MTL and BG is important for discriminating between these two encephalitis subtypes.

Many modern biology studies require deep, whole-genome sequencing of hundreds to thousands of samples. Although persamplecosts have dramatically decreased, the total budget for such massive genome sequencing constitutes a significantbarrier for poorly funded labs. The costly lab tools required for genomics experiments further hinder such studies. Here, weshare two strategies for extensively reducing the costs of massive genomics experiments, including miniaturization of theNEBNext Ultra II FS DNA Library Prep Kit for Illumina (reducing the per-sample total costs to ~ 1/6 of that charged byservice providers) and in-lab 3D model-designing of genomics tools. These strategies not only dramatically release fundingpressure for labs, but also provide students with additional training in hands-on genomics and 3D-model-designing skills,demonstrating the high potential for their application in genomics experiments and science education.

Cotton fiber strength is mainly determined during the secondary cell wall (SCW) thickening stage. In 24―25 days post anthesis (DPA) of SCW thickening stage, cDNA-amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) was carried out to construct fiber transcriptome groups. Based on these groups, cotton fiber strength candidate genes were detected by composite interval mapping (CIM) through quantitative trait locus (QTL) scanning. The mapping population was the interspecific backcross BC1 of Gossypium hirsutum × G. barbadense. One hundred and fifteen BC1 plants were used for group construction with 102 qualified absence/presence polymorphic transcript-derived fragments (TDFs) from G. barbadense, and 78 TDFs were assigned into eight transcriptome groups that gave a total length of 462.63 centimorgans (cM). Two significant QTLs, FS1 and FS2, were detected and explained 16.08% and 15.87% of fiber strength variance, respectively. Of the six TDFs co-segregating with FS1 and FS2, except one encoding an unknown protein, five targeted putative phosphatidylinositol kinase, trehalose-6 phosphate synthase, MADS transcription factor, cellulose synthase-like protein and phenylalanine ammonia lyase, respectively. These functional genes were involved in plant cell wall morphogenesis or cellulose synthesis metabolism processes, and were considered as the candidate genes controlling cotton fiber strength.
