Mechanochemical synthesis of maPbBr_(3)/carbon sphere composites for boosting carrier-involved superoxide species

Lead halide perovskites maPbX_(3)(ma = CH_(3)NH_(3) or Cs;X = I, Br, Cl) are well considered to be potential candidates for photocatalytic reaction due to its excellent photoelectrical properties, but they still suffer from the low charge separation efficiency and slow catalytic reaction dynamics. To tackle the drawbacks, herein, maPbBr_(3)/carbon sphere(CS) composite photocatalysts using glucose as the carbon source were elaborately designed and fabricated via a dry mechanochemical grinding process. The interfacial interaction Pb-O-C chemical bonds were constructed between maPbBr_(3) and the carbon sphere surface containing organic functional groups. By optimizing the content of CSs, the enhanced photocatalytic degradation kinetic rate of malachite Green(MG) pollutants(92% within 20 min) for maPbBr_(3)/CS x( x = 17 wt.%) is about 3.6-fold of that for pristine maPbBr_(3), which is attributed to the corporative adsorption and enhanced carrier transportation and separation of maPbBr_(3)/CS x. Furthermore, the possible degradation mechanism was proposed on basis of the electrochemical, mass spectrometry and optical characterization results. Owing to the robust interfacial interaction, effective electron extraction rate( k et = 4.6 × 10^(7) sec^(-1)) from maPbBr_(3) to CS can be established, which driven oxygen activation where superoxide radicals(·O^(2-)) played an important role in MG degradation. It is expected that mechanochemistry strategy may provide a new route to design efficient lead halide perovskite-carbon or metal oxide or sulfide composite photocatalysts.

A Genome-Wide Scenario of Terpene Pathways in Self-pollinated Artemisia annua

Scenarios of genes to metabolites in Artemisia annua remain uninvestigated. Here, we report the use of an integrated approach combining metabolomics, transcriptomics, and gene function analyses to charac- terize gene-to-terpene and terpene pathway scenarios in a self-pollinating variety of this species. Eightyeight metabolites including 22 sesquiterpenes （e.g., artemisinin）, 26 monoterpenes, two triterpenes, one diterpene and 38 other non-polar metabolites were identified from 14 tissues. These metabolites were differentially produced by leaves and flowers at lower to higher positions. Sequences from cDNA libraries of six tissues were assembled into 18 871 contigs and genome-wide gene expression profiles in tissues were strongly associated with developmental stages and spatial specificities. Sequence mining identified 47 genes that mapped to the artemisinin, non-amorphadiene sesquiterpene, monoterpene, triterpene, 2-C- methyl-D-erythritol 4-phosphate and mevalonate pathways. Pearson correlation analysis resulted in network integration that characterized significant correlations of gene-to-gene expression patterns and gene expression-to-metabolite levels in six tissues simultaneously. More importantly, manipulations of amorpha-4,11-diene synthase gene expression not only affected the activity of this pathway toward artemisinin, artemisinic acid, and arteannuin b but also altered non-amorphadiene sesquiterpene and genome-wide volatile profiles. Such gene-to-terpene landscapes associated with different tissues are fundamental to the metabolic engineering of artemisinin.

One of the promising approaches to achieving large scale superlubricity is the use of junctions between existing ultra-flat surface together with superlubric graphite *** we studied the frictional properties of microscale graphite mesa sliding on the diamond-like carbon,a commercially available material with a ultra-flat *** interface is composed of a single crystalline graphene and a diamond-like carbon surface with roughness less than I *** an integrated approach,which includes Argon plasma irradiation of diamond-like carbon surfaces,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis and Langmuir adsorption modeling,we found that while the velocity dependence of friction follows a thermally activated sliding mechanism,its temperature dependence is due to the desorption of chemical groups upon *** observations indicate that the edges have a significant contribution to the *** results highlight potential factors affecting this type of emerging friction junctions and provide a novel approach for tuning their friction properties through ion irradiation.

It is well known that Tn5B1-4 (commercially known as the High Five) cell line is highly susceptible to baculovirus and provides superior production of recombinant proteins when compared to other insect cell *** the characteristics of the cell line do not always remain stable and may change upon continuous *** an alphanodavirus,named Tn5 Cell Line Virus (or TNCL Virus),was identified in High Five cells in ***,we established a new cell line,QB-Tn9-4s,from Trichoplusia ni,which was determined to be free of TNCL virus by RT-PCR *** this paper,we describe the development of a novel cell clone,QB-CL-B,from a low passage QB-Tn9-4s cell line and report its susceptibility to AcMNPV,and the level of recombinant protein *** cell clone was similar to its parental cells QB-Tn9-4s and Tn5B1-4 cells in morphology and growth rate;although it also showed approximately the same responses to AcMNPV infection and production of occlusion bodies,there were higher levels of recombinant protein production in comparison to QB-Tn9-4s (parental cells) and High5 cells.

The Tibetan Plateau(TP)is characterized by heavily local dust activities,however,the mechanism of interannual variations of winter dust frequency over the TP remain poorly *** studies showed the autumn Arctic sea ice could significantly influence the winter climate over *** autumn sea ice affects winter dust activity over the TP or not?Here,we used an integrated surface database to investigate possible mechanisms for interannual variability in the frequency of winter dust events above the *** variability,which is thought to be mainly caused by local dust emissions,shows significant correlations with sea ice concentration(SIC)in the Barents and Kara Seas during the preceding *** Barents-Kara SIC is accompanied by reduced snow depth over northern Eurasia between autumn and winter,which can enhance the Eurasian mid-latitude westerly jet *** strengthening increases the cyclogenesis and occurrence of strong surface wind speeds in winter,especially over the *** addition,a lower SIC is closely associated with reduced precipitation and snow cover in late autumn and winter over the TP,which in turn enhances warming of the land surface and reduces the area of frozen *** anomalies in atmospheric circulation patterns and local surface conditions promote dust events above the TP during *** ensemble means of Atmospheric Model Intercomparison Project experiments from Phase 6 of the Coupled Model Inter-comparison Project and the Community Atmosphere Model version 4 can generally reproduce the atmospheric circulation anomalies associated with decreased Barents-Kara *** study reveals the crucial effect that SIC anomalies in the Barents and Kara Seas have on winter dust activities over the TP.

FLOW AND HEAT TRANSFER OF OLDROYD-B FLUIDS IN A ROTATING CURVED PIPE

The flow and convected heat transfer of the Oldroyd-B fluids in a rotating curved pipe with circular cross-section were investigated by employing a perturbation method. A perturbation solution up to the second order was obtained for a small curvature ratio, κ. The variations of axial velocity distribution and secondary flow structure with F, Re and We were discussed in detail in order to investigate the combined effects of the three parameters on flow structure. The combined effects of the Coriolis force, inertia force and elastic force on the temperature distribution were also analyzed, which are greater than the adding independent effects of the three forces. The variations of the flow rate and Nusselt number with the rotation, inertia and elasticity were examined as well. The results show the characteristics of the heat and mass transfer of the Oldroyd-B fluids in a rotating curved pipe.

Bimetallic Cu-In hybrid electrocatalysts are promising noble metal-free catalysts for selective electrochemical CO_(2) reduction reaction(ECO_(2) RR).Most reports show Cu-In catalysts are selective towards CO evolutio ***,few show similarly high selectivity towards *** we fabricated composition tunable Cu-In hydroxides(Cu_xIn_y-OH) by the hydrothermal method and studied their composition effect on electrochemical CO_(2) reduction in detail. We found that the selectivity of CO_(2) reduction products shifted from CO to formate when the content of In increased in the Cu_xIn_y-OH *** Cu rich electrocatalyst mostly produced CO,which could achieve a Faradaic efficiency(FE) to 75.8% at-0.59 V ***(Cu_(76)In_(24)based electrocatalysts).In comparison,the In rich electrocatalysts selectively produced formate,which possessed the FE of formate up to 85% at-1.01 V *** work systematically illustrates the composition effect on hybrid catalysts,and provides insights into the design of highly selective catalysts for ECO_(2) RR.

Preparation,thermal stability and biocompatibility studies of gelatin-induced hydroxyapatite co-substituted with essential physiological trace elements

Gelatin-induced hydroxyapatite with combined substitution of essential physiological trace elements(G-FAP)was prepared by a precipitation *** hydroxyapatite(HAP)and ion-substituted hydroxyapatite(FAP)were also prepared for *** characteristics of the precipitated powders were determined using X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR),specific surface area measurement(SSA),X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy(XRF),and thermogravimetric(TG)*** biocompatibility was also determined by an in vitro investigation with MC3T3-E1 *** and TEM results showed that the G-FAP powders were composed of dense aggregates of agglomerated whisker-like crystals of200–300 nm in length and 10–20 nm in *** and FT-IR analyses indicated the formation of pure apatite phase,and the substituted ions and gelatin did not change the diffraction pattern of the precipitated *** SSAs of the precipitated powder were 64.741,72.492,and107.745 m2/g,for HAP,FAP,and G-FAP,*** analysis showed that Na+,Mg2+,and F-were substituted into the crystal *** results showed a reduced thermal stability of the precipitated G-FAP powders,with an advanced phase transformation beginning at800°C and a serious phase transformation from hexagonal apatite phase to rhombohedral b-TCP phase at 1,200°C in comparison with HAP and *** vitro biological tests showed non-cytotoxic effects for all ***,G-FAP stimulated the proliferation of MC3T3-E1 cells earlier than HAP and *** present G-FAP will therefore be a promising primary biomaterial for bone regeneration,tooth filling,or as a coating for metal artificial limbs.

Concurrent severe hepatotoxicity and agranulocytosis induced by Polygonum multiflorum:A case report

BACKGROUND Various types of drug-induced liver injury are induced by Polygonum multiflorum(PM);however,it rarely causes ***,we report the case of a 65-year-old woman with concurrent severe hepatotoxicity and agranulocytosis induced by *** SUMmaRY A 65-year-old woman reported with severe hepatotoxicity and agranulocytosis 17 d after ingestion of *** results of the Roussel Uclaf Causality Assessment Method demonstrated a highly probable relationship between hepatotoxicity and PM,with a total score of *** Naranjo algorithm results indicated that agranulocytosis had a probable relationship with PM,with an overall score of *** colony-stimulating factor(for once),a steroid,compound glycyrrhizin,and polyene phosphatidylcholine therapy were *** 15 d of treatment,there was a gradual improvement in liver biochemistry,leukocytes,and neutrophils *** Concurrent hepatotoxicity and agranulocytosis are rare and critical adverse drug reactions of PM,which should be highly valued.
