Dear Editor Verticillium wilt, caused by the soil-borne fungus Verticillium dahliae, poses a major threat to a broad host range of more than 400 plant species, including economically important cotton （Bell, 1992）. V. dahliae is especially difficult to control because it persists in soil as resting structures, called microsclerotia, for several years in the absence of a host plant. The dormant microsclerotia are the primary infectious propagules and germinate when they are stimulated by root exudates. Infection of cotton roots by V. dahliae in soi~ naturally leads to the colonization of vascular tissues, from the parasitic to saprophytic phase, when mycelia and melanized dormancy microsclerotia are produced in the infected cotton, resulting in vessel blockage and cotton wilt disease （Gerik and Huisman, 1988）.

Deep petroleum resources are stored under high temperature and pressure conditions,with the temperature having a significant influence on the properties of *** in-situ temperature-preserved coring(ITP-coring)devices were developed to assess deep petroleum reserves ***,hollow glass microspheres(HGMs)/silicone rubber(SR)composites that exhibit excellent thermal insulation properties were prepared as thermal insulation materials for deep ITP-coring *** mechanism and process of heat transfer in the composites were explored,as well as their other *** results show that the HGMs exhibit good compatibility with the SR *** the volume fraction of the HGMs is increased to 50%,the density of the HGMs/SR composites is reduced from 0.97 to 0.56 g/cm^(3).The HGMs filler introduces large voids into the composites,reducing their thermal conductivity to 0.11 W/m·*** addition of HGMs into the composites further enhances the thermal stability of the SR,wherein the higher the HGMs filler content,the better the thermal stability of the *** significantly enhance the mechanical strength of the *** increase the compressive strength of the composites by 828%and the tensile strength by 164%.Overall,HGMs improve the thermal insulation,pressure resistance,and thermal stability of HGMs/SR composites.

Objective There are still a high proportion of patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction （STEMI） missing out early reperfusion even in the primary percutaneous coronary intervention （PCI） era. Most of them are stable latecomers, but the optimal time to undergo delayed PCI for stable ones remains controversial. Methods We investigated all STEMI patients who underwent delayed PCI （2-28 days after STEMI） during 2007-2010 in Beijing and excluded patients with hemodynamic instability. The primary outcome was maj or adverse cardiovascular events （MACEs）. Results This study finally enrolled 5,417 STEMI patients and assigned them into three groups according to individual delayed time （Early group, 55.9%; Medium group, 35.4%; Late group, 8.7%）. During 1-year follow-up, MACEs occurred in 319 patients. The incidence of MACEs were respectively 7.1%, 5.6% and 6.7% among three groups. The Medium group had less recurrent myocardial infarction plus cardiac death （hazard ratio, 0.525; 95% confidence interval, 0.294-0.938, P = 0.030） than Late group and less repeat revascularization （hazard ratio, 0.640; 95% confidence interval, 0.463-0.883, P = 0.007） than Early group in pairwise comparisons. We depicted the incidence of major adverse cardiovascular event （MACE） by delayed time as a quadratic curve and found the bottom appeared at day 14. Conclusions The delayed PCI time varied in the real-world practice, but undergoing operations on the second week after STEMI had greater survival benefit and less adverse events for whom without early reperfusion and hemodynamic instability.

Hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) is a common infectious disease in children, occurring primarily in preschool children[1_3] with infants under three years old being gen erally susceptible. The disease is caused by various enteroviruses, among which EV71 and Coxsackievirus A group 16 (Cox A16) are the most comm on ⑷.According to in formation released by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention on June 8, 2016, EV71 infection- related HFMD has been prevalent among infants and young children in China since 2007, with a high incidenee and many deaths.

O3 is not only greenhouse gas but also a primary gaseous contaminant in the *** has long-lasting effects on crop growth,yield and quality,and brings a series of ecological and environmental problems.A free-air controlled enrichment（FACE） system was applied to study the effect of elevated ozone concentration on activities of key enzymes of starch synthesis of Yangmai 16 in *** main-plot treatment had two levels of O 3 ：ambient level（A-O 3） and 50% higher than ambient level（E-O 3）.The main results were that accumulation rate of amylose,amylopectin and starch were represented in a single peak curve,and their content and accumulation amount rose *** O 3 elevation decreased the accumulation rate of amylose,amylopectin and starch amylase,reduced the accumulation amount of amylopectin and starch,and decreased the content of amylopectin and starch,but increased the content of *** the increase of O 3 concentration,the enzyme activity of grain granule-bound starch synthase（GBSS）,soluble starch synthase（SSS） and starch branching enzyme（SBE） decreased after *** activities of GBSS and SSS had highly significant correlations with amylose,amylopectin and starch accumulation rate,and the activity of SBE had significant correlations with these *** the O 3 elevation decreased the activity of key enzymes of starch synthesis,which led to the variation of starch synthesis.

BACKGROUND: Hepatic failure caused by severe hepatitis is a clinical syndrome where the major liver functions, particularly detoxification, synthetic functions, and metabolic regulation are impaired to different degrees, and may result in major life-threatening complications such as hepatic encephalopathy, ascites, jaundice, cholestasis, bleeding and hepatorenal syndrome. Plasma exchange (PE) has been found useful in treating patients with fulminant hepatic failure by removing hepatic toxins and replacement of clotting factors, so PE treatment has temporary supportive effects on liver failure caused by severe viral hepatitis. in this study, our aim was to predict the prognosis of patients with severe hepatitis after PE treatment using the end-stage liver disease (MELD) scoring system. METHODS: Two hundred and twenty patients were randomly divided into PE and control groups, and the MELD score was calculated for each patient according to the original formula. The efficacy of PE was assessed by mortality or improvement in biochemical parameters and MELD score. RESULTS: The levels of total bilirubin and international normalised ratio (INR) in patients whose MELD scores were between 30 and 39 were lower than those before PE treatment, as those in patients whose MELD scores were 40 or higher. The mortality of patients in the PE group with MELD scores from 30 to 39 was 50.0%, while it was 83.3% in the control group (P0.05). CONCLUSIONS: PE treatment can decrease the serum total bilirubin level and INR and MELD score of patients with severe hepatitis and improve liver function. Compared with the control group, PE can significantly decrease the mortality of patients with MELD scores from 30 to 39, but has no effect in patients with MELD scores of 40 or higher.

Role of elemental reduction in microstructure,microcrack,and mechanical properties of GH3230 by laser powder bed fusion

Two kinds of pre-alloyed GH3230 powders,each with different Si and Mn compositions,were employed to fabricate components through laser powder bed fusion(LPBF).Microstructural analysis reveals that microcrack formation in the GH3230 sample results from both microsegregation and thermal cycling-induced *** samples with different contents of Si and Mn exhibit typical epitaxial growth of columnar dendrites with directional anisotropy,indicating minimal variation in microstructure under identical thermal cycling *** occurrence of hot cracking is influenced by various factors,with chemical composition playing a crucial *** presence of these cracks significantly impacts the mechanical properties of the *** ultimate tensile strength and elongation of the GH3230-L sample,which has reduced Si and Mn content,show significant improvements compared to the GH3230 *** ultimate tensile strength increases from 735.0 MPa to 790.0 MPa,and elongation rises substantially from 11.3%to 35.2%.Thermodynamic simulations confirm that variations in Si and Mn content influence hot cracking *** Si and Mn levels narrows the solidification range,which helps to minimize the formation of hot cracks by enhancing liquid filling at grain boundaries.
