The Erasmus Plus programme’Innovative Education and Training in high power laser plasmas’,otherwise known as PowerLaPs,is *** PowerLaPs programme employs an innovative paradigm in that it is a multi-centre programme where teaching takes place in five separate institutes with a range of different aims and styles of *** ’in class’ time is limited to four weeks a year,and the programme spans two *** aims to train students from across Europe in theoretical,applied and laboratory skills relevant to the pursuit of research in laserplasma interaction physics and inertial confinement fusion(ICF).Lectures are intermingled with laboratory sessions and continuous assessment *** programme,which is led by workers from the Technological Educational Institute(TEI)of Crete,and supported by co-workers from the Queen’s University Belfast,the University of Bordeaux,the Czech Technical-University in Prague,Ecole Polytechnique,the University of Ioannina,the University of Salamanca and the University of York,has just completed its first *** far three Learning Teaching Training(LTT)activities have been held,at the Queen’s University Belfast,the University of Bordeaux and the Centre for Plasma Physics and Lasers(CPPL)of TEI *** last of these was a two-week long Intensive Programme(IP),while the activities at the other two universities were each five days in *** far work has concentrated upon training in both theoretical and experimental work in plasma physics,high power laser-matter interactions and high energy density *** nature of the programme will be described in detail and some metrics relating to the activities carried out to date will be presented.

BACKGROUNd:Hyperamylasemia can be observed anecdotally during the course of severe sepsis or septic *** study aimed to investigate the possibility of pancreatic involvement in patients with septic shock using serum pancreatic enzyme determinations and imaging techniques in 21 consecutive patients with septic shock and 21 healthy subjects as controls. METHOdS:The serum activity of pancreatic amylase and lipase was assayed initially in all subjects and 24 and 48 hours after the initial observation in the 21 patients with septic shock All patients also underwent radiological examination to detect pancreatic abnormalities. RESULTS:The serum activity of pancreatic amylase was significantly higher in the 21 patients with septic shock than in the 21 control subjects during the study period while the serum activity of lipase was similar to that of the control *** and lipase serum activity did not significantly changed throughout the study period in the 21 patients with septic *** of the patients with pancreatic hyperenzymemia had clinical signs or morphological alterations compatible with acute pancreatitis CONCLUSION:The presence of pancreatic hyperenzymemia in septic shock patients is not a biochemical manifestation of acute pancreatic damage,and the management of these patients should be dependent on the clinical situation and not merely the biochemical results.

目的本研究旨在观察用实时三维超声心动图定量测定儿童左室功能并与磁共振做对照,探讨实时三维超声心动图临床应用的准确性和价值。方法20名健康儿童,年龄6-18(10.6±2.8)岁(男11人,女9人),实时三维超声心动图检查应用Philips Sonos 7500系统,在心尖区四腔心窗口采集图象,EKG触发全容积模式(Full Volume Mode),实时三维图象角度84°×93°,平均采集图象时间为8秒/dataset。所有图象数据脱机后用TomTec 4d Echo—View 5.2工作站进行数据分析,左心室长轴方向按22.5度旋转取8个切面, 勾画收缩末期和舒张末期心内膜和心外膜,测定LVESV、LVEdV、LVEF和Mass(LV Mass LV Volume×1.05)。MRI检查用GE Signa CV/iLX磁共振仪,屏气状态下采集2d cine tFLESTA图象,在短轴切面上每8mm层面勾画收缩末期和舒张末期心内膜和心外膜,计算LVESV、LVEdV、LVEF和Mass。结果19名儿童符合入选标准(1名儿童因发现房缺而未入选),用实时三维超声心动图测定的LVESV、LVEdV、Mass、SV和LVEF与磁共振测定的结果用Bland and Altman分析显示两种方法测定的结果有很好的相关性和线性关系。ESV:r=0.97,y=0.92 X+1.52,Pdifference±Sd:ESV(ml):-1.84±3.29,EdV(ml):-6.83±9.66,mass(g):1.52±9.98,SV(ml):4.99±8.27,EF(%):-0.45±2.17。结论本研究结果发现实时三维超声心动图测定儿童左室LVESV,LVEdV,LVEF和Mass与磁共振测定的结果相同,新型实时三维超声心动图技术提供了一种有效、快速和准确的临床定量测定左室功能的方法。

Overloading the intestine enterocytes with lipids induced alteration of the Golgi complex(GC;Sesorova et al.,2020)and could cause glycosylation ***,using differentiated Caco-2 cells with the established 0[I]blood group phenotype(no expression of the blood antigens A and B[AgA,AgB]under normal conditions)as a model of human enterocytes we examined whether the overloading of these cells with lipids could cause errors in the Golgi-dependent *** demonstrated that under these conditions,there were alterations of the GC and the appearance of lipid droplets in the *** cells produced AgA and *** suggested that after overloading of enterocytes with lipids,AgA were mistakenly synthesized in individual enterocytes by the Golgi *** mistakes could explain why in the absence of AgA and AgB antibodies against them exist in the blood.

Athena is the common framework used by the ATLAS experiment for simulation,reconstruction,and analysis,By design,Athena supports multiple persistence services,and insulates users from technology-specific persistence *** users and even most Athena package developers should neither know nor care whether data come from the grid or from local *** whether data reside in object databases,in ROOT or ZEBRA files,or in ASCII *** this paper we describe how Athena applications may transparently take advantage of emerging services provided by grid software today-how data generated by Athea jobs are registered in grid replica catalogs and other collection management services,and the means by which input data are identified and located in a grid-aware collection management *** outline an evolutionary path toward incorporation of grid-based virtual data services,whereby locating data may be replaced by locating a recipe according to which that dta may be *** implementation scenarios,ranging from lowlevel grid catalog services(e.g.,from Globus)through higher-level services such as the Grid data Management Pilot (under development as part of the European dataGrid porject,in collaboration,with the Particle Physics data Grid)to more conventional database services,and a common architecture to support these various scenarios,are also described.

Cancer drug development is a time and resources consuming *** 90%of drugs entering clinical trials fail due to lack of efficacy and/or safety issues,more often after conspicuous research and economic *** of the discarded drugs might be beneficial only in a subgroup of the study patients,and some adverse events might be prevented by identifying those patients more vulnerable to *** implementation of pharmacogenomic biomarkers allows the categorization of patients,to predict efficacy and toxicity and to optimize the drug development *** seventy FdA approved drugs currently present one or more genetic biomarker to keep in consideration,and with the progress of Precision Medicine tailoring therapies on individuals’genomic landscape promises to become a new standard of cancer *** the current article we review the role of pharmacogenomics in cancer drug development,underlying the advantages and challenges of their implementation.

AIM: To investigate the association between adherence to health recommendations and detection of advanced colorectal neoplasia(ACN) in colorectal cancer(CRC) ***: A total of 14832 women and men were invited to CRC screening, 6959 in the fecal immunochemical test arm and 7873 in the flexible sigmoidoscopy arm. These were also sent a self-reported lifestyle questionnaire to be completed prior to their first CRC screening. A lifestyle score was created to reflect current adherence to healthy behaviors in regard to smoking, body mass index, physical activity, alcohol consumption and food consumption, and ranged from zero(poorest) to six(best). Odds ratios(ORs) and 95%CIs were calculated using multivariable logistic regression to evaluate the association between the single lifestyle variables and the lifestyle score and the probability of detecting ***: In all 6315 women and men completed the lifestyle questionnaire, 3323(53%) in the FIT arm and 2992(47%) in the FS arm. This was 89% of those who participated in screening. ACN was diagnosed in 311(5%) participants of which 25(8%) were diagnosed with CRC. For individuals with a lifestyle score of two, three, four, and five-six, the ORs(95%CI) for the probability of ACN detection were 0.82(0.45-1.16), 0.43(0.28-0.73), 0.41(0.23-0.64), and 0.41(0.22-0.73), respectively compared to individuals with a lifestyle score of zero-one. Of the single lifestyle factors, adherence to non-smoking and moderate alcohol intake were associated with a decreased probability of ACN detection compared to being a smoker or having a high alcohol intake 0.53(0.42-0.68) and 0.63(0.43-0.93) ***: Adopted healthy behaviors were inversely associated with the probability of ACN detection. Lifestyle assessment might be useful for risk stratification in CRC screening.

The development of end stage renal failure can be seen as a catastrophic health event and patients with this condition are considered at the highest risk of cardiovascular disease among any other patient groups and risk categories. Although kidney transplantation was hailed as an optimal solution to such devastating disease, many issues related to immune-suppressive drugs soon emerged and it became evident that cardiovascular disease would remain a vexing problem. Progression of chronic kidney disease is accompanied by profound alterations of mineral and bone metabolism that are believed to have an impact on the cardiovascular health of patients with advanced degrees of renal failure. Cardiovascular risk factors remain highly prevalent after kidney transplantation, some immune-suppression drugs worsen the risk profile of graft recipients and the alterations of mineral and bone metabolism seen in end stage renal failure are not completely resolved. Whether this complex situation promotes progression of vascular calcification, a hall-mark of advanced chronic kidney disease, and whether vascular calcifications contribute to the poor cardiovascular outcome of post-transplant patients is reviewed in this article.
