Objective:To describe and molecularly characterize an outbreak of dengue virus(DENV)infection in Cajamarca,an Andean region in ***:A total of 359 serum samples from patients with acute febrile illness were assessed for the presence of DENV via RT-PCR,ELISA NS1,Ig M and Ig G in Cajamarca,Peru from January 2017 to June *** evaluation of the different diagnostic tests and their applicability was ***:Dengue virus was detected in 24.7%of samples by ***,serological analysis detected 30.3%positive cases via ELISA NS1 antigen,16.7%via ELISA Ig G and 9.7%via ELISA Ig *** of the cases corresponded to DENV-3(77.5%).The use of RT-PCR performed better in primary infections(P<0.01),while detection of ELISA Ig M performed better in secondary infections(P<0.01).The combination of NS1 and Ig M performed better than the other assays in detecting primary(92.5%)and secondary infections(96.6%).The most frequent symptoms associated with fever were headaches,myalgias,and arthralgias across all ***:We report an important outbreak of dengue infection caused by DENV-3 in Cajamarca,*** findings encourage the use of NS1 antigen and Ig M *** findings demonstrate an increasing expansion of DENV-3 in Peru and highlight the importance of molecular diagnosis and serotype characterization among the clinically defined dengue cases to strengthen the Peruvian epidemiological surveillance.

AIM: To explore the association between TCF7L2 rs12255372 and rs7903146 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and gastric cancer risk in Venezuelan ***: We performed a case-control study including 122 paraffin-embedded archived intestinal-type gastric cancer samples and 129 biopsies obtained by superior endoscopy from chronic gastritis patients. Gastric cancer samples were classified according the degree of carcinoma differentiation. Genomic DNA was extracted from tissues, and the two SNPs of TCF7L2 gene (rs12255372 and rs7903146) were genotyped by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism reactions. Multiple regression analysis with adjustments for age and gender were performed and best-fitting models of inheritance were determined. Statistic powers were post-hoc ***: After adjusting for age and sex the TCF7L2 rs7903146 TT genotype was associated with gastric cancer risk under the recessive genetic model (OR = 3.11, 95%CI: 1.22-7.92, P = 0.017). We further investigated the distribution of rs12255372 and rs7903146 genotypes according gastric cancer stratified by degree of differentiation, and we observed that carriers of rs7903146 T allele (CT + TT vs CC) had a significantly increased risk of moderate/well differentiated gastric cancer (dominant model, OR = 2.55, 95%CI: 1.35-4.80, P = 0.004), whereas the rs7903146 TT genotype was associated with poorly differentiated gastric cancer in the recessive model (OR = 3.65, 95%CI: 1.25-10.62, P = 0.018). We did not find association between rs12255372 SNP and the susceptibility of developing gastric ***: TCF7L2 rs7903146 polymorphism is associated with gastric cancer risk in the Venezuelan population, and could be related to determine the degree of differentiation of tumor cells.

Software Project Effort Estimation Based on Multiple Parametric Models Generated Through Data Clustering

Parametric software effort estimation models usually consists of only a single mathematical relationship. With the advent of software repositories containing data from heterogeneous projects, these types of models suffer from poor adjustment and predictive accuracy. One possible way to alleviate this problem is the use of a set of mathematical equations obtained through dividing of the historical project datasets according to different parameters into subdatasets called partitions. In turn, partitions are divided into clusters that serve as a tool for more accurate models. In this paper, we describe the process, tool and results of such approach through a case study using a publicly available repository, ISBSG. Results suggest the adequacy of the technique as an extension of existing single-expression models without making the estimation process much more complex that uses a single estimation model. The terrain reversal effect is a perceptual phenomenon which causes an illusion in various 3D geographic visualizations where landforms appear inverted,*** perceive valleys as ridges and vice *** that such displays are important for spatio-visual analysis,this illusion can lead to critical mistakes in interpreting the ***,it is currently undocumented how commonly this effect is *** this paper,we study the prevalence of the terrain reversal effect in satellite imagery through a two-stage online user *** experiment was conducted with the participation of a diverse and relatively large population(n=535).Participants were asked to identify landforms(valley or ridge?)or judge a 3D spatial relationship(is A higher than B?).When the images were rotated by 180°,the results were *** a control task with‘illusion-free’original images,people were successful in identifying landforms,yet a very strong illusion occurred when these images were rotated 180°.Our findings demonstrate that the illusion is acutely present;thus,we need a better understanding of the problem and its ***,the results caution us that in an interactive environment where people can rotate the display,we might be introducing a severe perceptual problem.

Does an association exist between chronic pancreatitis and liver cirrhosis in alcoholic subjects?

AIM: To study the possible association between chronic pancreatitis (CP) and liver cirrhosis (LC) of alcoholic etiology,after excluding any other ***: One hundred and forty consecutive alcoholic patients were subdivided into three groups: CP (n = 53),LC (n = 57),and asymptomatic alcoholic (n = 30).Clinical,biochemical and morphological characteristics,Child-Pugh index,indocyanine green test,and fecal pancreatic elastase-1 test were ***: In patients with cirrhosis,major clinical manifestations of CP such as pancreatic pain and steatorrhea,as well as imaging alterations of CP such as calcifications,duct dilation and pseudocysts were absent; insulin-dependent diabetes was present in 5.3% of cases,and elastase-1 test was altered in only 7%,and severely altered in *** patients with CP,clinical characteristics of cirrhosis such as ascites,encephalopathy and gastrointestinal hemorrhage were present in one case,Child-Pugh grade > A in 5.7%,and altered indocyanine green test in 1.9% *** asymptomatic alcoholism,there was only a non-coincident alteration of elastase-1 test and indocyanine test in 14.8% and 10%,respectively,but other characteristics of cirrhosis or CP were *** inverse correlation (r = -0.746) between elastase-1 test and indocyanine test was found in alcoholic ***: There is a scarce coincidence in clinical and morphological alterations among patients with CP or LC of alcoholic etiology,but an inverse correlation between pancreatic and liver function *** findings support that these alcoholic diseases evolve in a different manner and have different etiopathogenesis.

Teratozoospermia （〈40% morphologically normal spermatozoa/ejaculate） is a frequent phenomenon in feline species. This research was carried out to study the possible differences in testicular volume, differential sperm morphometric traits, and potential differences regarding the sperm subpopulational structure during epididymal sperm maturation in teratozoospermic feline donors. Epididymal sperm samples were collected from the caput （R1）, corpus （R2）, and cauda （R3） epididymidis in two donor groups （N： normozoospermic; T： teratozoospermic）. Aliquots were assessed for concentration, viability, motility, and acrosomal integrity. Sperm morphometric descriptors from CASA-Morph analysis were analyzed by the Principal Component Analysis （PCA） and clustering analyses. Irrespective of the group analyzed, PCA revealed two Principal Components （PCs） for each epididymal region explaining more than the 93% of the variance. Surprisingly, the number of subpopulations remained constant in regions R1-R2-R3 irrespective of the donor group analyzed. However, the distribution of these subpopulations was found to be structurally different and strongly influenced by the epididymal region and the donor group. In conclusion, testicular morphometry and the sperm subpopulation structure were different in N and T donors. The alterations in subpopulations during epididymal maturation could be used as a potential clinical indicator of teratozoospermic individuals since an important influence of teratozoospermia on sperm subpopulation structure has been demonstrated.
