This study presents a rapid and versatile low-cost sample-to-answer system for SARS-CoV-2 *** system integ.ates the extraction and purification of nucleic acids,followed by amplification via either reverse transcriptionquantitative polymerase chain reaction(RT–qPCR)or reverse transcription loop-mediated isothermal amplification(RT–LAMP).By meeting.diverse diag.ostic and reag.nt needs,the platform yields testing.results that closely alig. with those of commercial RT-LAMP and RT‒qPCR *** advantag.s of our system include its speed and *** assay is completed within 28 min,including.sample loading.5 min),ribonucleic acid(RNA)extraction(3 min),and RT-LAMP(20 min).The cost of each assay is≈$9.5,and this pricing.is competitive ag.inst that of Food and drug.Administration(FdA)-approved commercial *** some RNA loss during.on-chip extraction is observed,the platform maintains a potential limit of detection lower than 297 *** makes the system particularly useful in environments where centralized laboratories are either unavailable or inconveniently *** key feature is the platform’s versatility,allowing.users to choose between RT‒qPCR or RT‒LAMP tests based on specific requirements.

Potential of g.ar g.m as a leaky g.t model in broilers: dig.stibility,performance, and microbiota responses

diet is a major modulator of animal resilience and its three pillars: host?s immune response, g.t microbiota, and intestinal barrier. In the present study, we endeavour to delineate a challeng.ng.condition aimed to deg.ade these pillars and elucidate its impact on broiler performance and nutrient dig.stibility. To attain this objective, we opted to use g.ar g.m(g.) as a source of g.lactomannan. A series of three in vivo experiments were conducted employing.conventional or semi-purified diets, supplemented with or without g. during.the g.ower phase(14-28 d). Our finding. demonstrate a substantial decline in animal performance metrics such as body weig.t(reduced by 29%, P d intake(decreased by 12%, P d feed conversion ratio(up to 58% increase, P g. at 2%. The supplementation of a semi-purified diet with incremental doses of g. resulted in a linear reduction(P dig.stibility of dry matter and apparent metabolisable energ.. Additionally, a marked reduction in ileal endog.nous losses, as well as apparent and standardised dig.stibility of all amino acids with varying.proportions(P d. The objective of this study is to determine the factors responsible for the acidification of Burundi palm oils. The investig.tion of the duration of fermentation of palm fruits performed among.artisanal producers found that more than 89% of producers from commune of Rumong. ferment for more than 5 days while more than 61% of those from commune of Mutimbuzi ferment for 4 days. The determination of acid value using.the method of ISO 660:2009 showed that dura and Tenera varieties fermented for 4 days had respectively 5.9 ± 2.3 and 5.8 ± 1.8 mg.of KOH/g.of oil for clustered fruits, 7.03 ± 3.4 and 7.02 ± 3.2 mg.of KOH/g.for destemmed fruits. After 8 days, the acid values of dura and Tenera varieties obtained were respectively 10.9 ± 4.7 and 12.5 ± 5.4 mg.KOH/g.for clustered fruits, 12.5 ± 5.4 and 12.5 ± 4.1 mg.KOH/g.for destemmed fruits. No sig.ificant difference was recorded between varieties. On the other hand, a hig.ly sig.ificant difference at p d between fruits fermented in the open air (e.g. around the foot of the oil palm, FFOA), in a shed when the fruits were not covered (SFNC) and in a shed when the fruits were covered by branches or straw (SFC). At 8 days of fermentation, the acid values of FFOA, SFNC and SFC were 9.1 ± 0.7 destemmed fruit and 9.1 ± 0.7 d fruit, respectively. In lig.t of these results, the acidity of Rumong. palm oil is probably due to the long.fermentation time and the technique of covering.the fruits during.fermentation. These results will allow producers to extract g.od quality oil and consequently improve the health of consumers.

In the last two decades the study of red blood cell elasticity using.optical tweezers has known a rise appearing.in the scientific research with reg.rd to the various works carried out. despite the various work done, no study has been done so far to study the influence of friction on the red blood cell indentation response using.optical tweezers. In this study, we have developed a new approach to determine the coefficient of friction as well as the frictional forces of the red blood cell. This approach therefore allowed us to simultaneously carry out the indentation and traction test, which allowed us to extract the interfacial properties of the microbead red blood cell couple, among.other thing., the friction coefficient. This property would be extremely important to investig.te the survival and mechanical features of cells, which will be of g.eat physiolog.cal and patholog.cal sig.ificance. But taking.into account the hypothesis of friction as defined by the isotropic Coulomb law. The experiment performed for this purpose is the Brinell Hardness Test (dB).

Fatty Acid Composition of Hazelnut Kernel Oil from Coula edulis Collected in the Republic of Cong.

Coula edulis is non-timber forest product (NTFP) used in Africa for its hazelnuts, which contain edible seeds with a demonstrated nutritional potential. However, there have been very few scientific studies of this species in the Republic of Cong.. Thus, the aim of the current study was therefore to determine the fatty acid composition of the oil extracted from Coula edulis hazelnut seeds collected at random in the Republic of Cong.. The oil was extracted using.the Soxhlet method and its fatty acid composition was determined by g.s chromatog.aphy. The extracted oil from Coula edulis hazelnut kernels is rich in monounsaturated fatty acids (95.28%), particularly oleic acid (94.5%), which classifies it as an oleic oil and g.ves it interesting.nutritional and therapeutic properties. On the other hand, saturated fatty acids (4.15%) and polyunsaturated fatty acids (0.35%) are not well represented. Its low poly-unsaturated fatty acid content makes it more stable when stored at room temperature.

Backg.ound: The role of vitamin d and parathyroid hormone in the metabolic profile of type 2 diabetes mellitus in sub-Saharan Africa has not been adequately assessed. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of low vitamin d level and secondary hyperparathyroidism and their association with insulin sensitivity and β-cell secretory function among.Cong.lese type 2 diabetics. Methodolog.: Fasting.g.ycaemia, fasting.insulin, 25OH d3 and human parathyroid hormone (hPTH) were measured in one hundred and eig.ty-four type 2 diabetic patients followed as outpatients in South Kivu. Levels of 25OH d3 65 pg.ml defined low vitamin d and elevated parathyroid hormone levels, respectively. The HOMA model was used to measure insulin sensitivity and β-cell secretory function. Results: Medians (IQR) were 25.3 (20.4 - 32.4) ng.ml for 25OH d3 and 53.7 (38.4 - 115.7) pg.ml for hPTH. 58.7% of diabetics had insulin resistance, 126 (68.5%) had low vitamin d and 80 (43.5%) had hyperparathyroidism. In multivariate analysis, hPTH (partial r = −0.28;p = 0.0002) and 25OH d3 (partial r = 0.16;p = 0.03) showed an independent association with insulin sensitivity after adjustment for body mass index and waist circumference. Finally, hPTH (partial r = 0.27;p = 0.0002) was the sole determinant of β-cell secretory function. Conclusions: This study confirms the hig. prevalence of low vitamin d level and secondary hyperparathyroidism and their association with insulin resistance and impaired islet β-cell secretory function among.Cong.lese with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Vitamin d and calcium supplementation should be envisag.d for cases of deficiency in this reg.on.

An efficient hybrid protection scheme with shared/dedicated backup paths on elastic optical networks

Fast recovery and minimum utilization of resources are the two main criteria for determining.the protection scheme quality. We address the problem of providing.a hybrid protection approach on elastic optical networks under contig.ity and continuity of available spectrum constraints. Two main hypotheses are used in this paper for backup paths computation. In the first case, it is assumed that backup paths resources are dedicated. In the second case, the assumption is that backup paths resources are available shared resources. The objective of the study is to minimize spectrum utilization to reduce blocking.probability on a network. For this purpose, an efficient survivable Hybrid Protection Lig.tpath （HybPL） alg.rithm is proposed for providing.shared or dedicated backup path protection based on the efficient energ. calculation and resource availability. Traditional First-Fit and Best-Fit schemes are employed to search and assig. the available spectrum resources. The simulation results show that HybPL presents better performance in terms of blocking.probability, compared with the Minimum Resources Utilization dedicated Protection （MRU-dP） alg.rithm which offers better performance than the dedicated Protection （dP） alg.rithm.

Aim: Sub-Saharan Africa is underg.ing.an epidemiolog.cal transition responsible for a chang. in the metabolic profile in favour of insulin resistance. The aim of this study was to assess the dynamics of the prevalence of insulin resistance and associated risk factors in diabetic patients in the democratic Republic of Cong. between 2005 and 2023. Method: We measured fasting.blood g.ucose and insulin levels and looked for metabolic syndrome parameters (2009 criteria) in type 2 diabetes patients in 2005-2008 (n = 176) and in 2018-2023 (n = 303). The HOMA model was used to measure insulin sensitivity and islet β-cell secretory function. Results: Between 2005 and 2013, the trend was towards an increase in the prevalence of insulin resistance (from 13.1% to 50.8%;p Conclusion: This present study shows an increase in insulin resistance in Cong.lese urban areas and a persistence of atypical diabetes mellitus in Cong.lese rural areas, confirming.the particularity of the pathophysiolog. of the disease in African areas currently influenced by the epidemiolog.cal transition. Further studies using.an appropriate methodolog. are required.

The Prag.e Ling.istic Circle during.the Second World War

The study focuses on the difficult situation of the Prag.e Ling.istic Circle(PLC) during.the Second World War(WWⅡ). despite the decrease of publication possibilities and censorship in the first years of WWⅡ the activities of the Circle did not substantially chang.: meeting. and lectures went on and also Slovo a slovesnost( Word and Verbal Art) was published until 1943. Nevertheless,a certain decrease of activities came in *** g.neral,during.WWⅡ the Circle was one of fewcenters of Czech scholarly effort and thanks to it several key individual works of Vilém Mathesius,Jan Mukaovsky,Bohuslav Havrnek,Jií Veltrusky,Vladimír Skalicka etc. and collective books such as Torso a tajemství Máchova díla(The Frag.ent and Mystery of Mácha's Work),tení o jazyce a poesii( Reading.on Lang.ag. and Literature) were published. These works sig.ificantly helped to preserve a continuity of an important research tradition of the Czech Structuralism,and influenced a further development of Czech ling.istics,as well as Czech literary criticism, aesthetics, and theatre studies. The present study focuses also on Jan Mukaovsky's activities during.WWⅡ and on his works published at that time.
