To the Editor: We would like to congratulate Tian and colleagues on their recent article: Diagnostic value of contrast-enhanced ultrasonography for intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma with tumor diameter larger than 5 cm [1]. They argued that, despite not being included in the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases(AASLD) guidelines for the diagnosis of liver diseases, contrast-enhanced ultrasonography(CEUS) can be of use for diagnosis of large(>5 cm), mass-forming intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma(ICC).

Dear editor,Airbags are an example of passive preventive measures reducing the risk of severe injury or death from a motor vehicle accident. However, airbags have also been described as a source of injuries related to airbag deployment. Typical airbag-related injuries are eye injuries, cervical spine injuries, rib fractures, cardiac injuries, extremity injuries, and thoracic aortic rupture(TAR).[1-3] Approximately one-third of patients with TAR who survive till hospital admission die before surgical treatment.[4] We present a patient with TAR after a lowspeed motor vehicle accident with rapidly deteriorating vital signs and subsequent death on the scene.

The electrochemical behaviour of samarium was investigated in LiF-BeF2 system on an inert （Mo） electrode by cyclic voltammetry and chronopotentiometry at 804, 833, 847 and 872 K. Redox process Sm3＋＋e–→Sm2＋ was recognized and analysed. Cyclic voltammetry data suggested that at potential sweep rates lower than 0.25 V/s, the reduction was limited by the diffusion of Sm3＋ ions. It was not possible to observe reduction process of Sm2＋＋2e–→Sm0 due to insufficient electrochemical stability of LiF-BeF2. Diffusion coefficients of Sm3＋ ions in LiF-BeF2 were calculated from voltammetric and chronopotentiometric data in the temperature range 804–872 K. Diffusion coefficient values obeyed Arrhenius law. Activation energy was calculated to be 102.5 kJ/mol.

Poppy seeds （Papaver somniferum L.） are often attacked by various fungal dis- eases, and their field germination rate is low. The aim of this experiment was to increase the germination rate and growth of seedlings by modifying the poppy seeds using cold plasma dis- charge. The seeds were treated in a Plasonic AR-550-M under power of 500 W with argon gas flow of 50 mL/min, oxygen gas flow of 50 mL/min for different time durations in seconds （0, 180, 300, 600, 1800, 3000, 4200, and 5400）. The seed germination rate and growth of the seedlings were recorded. Cold plasma positively affected the seed germination rate for time exposure between 180～3000 s. Seedling acceleration on the sixth day of the experiment showed the highest values at exposure 180～600 s. Cold plasma seems to be a good physicochemical way to modify seeds without chemical agronomical application.

AIM:To examine the activation of the Nalp3 inflammasome and its downstream targets following lipopolysaccharide(LPS) -induced stimulation in the liver. METHODS:Six-to-eight-week-old C57BL/6 chow fed mice were injected intraperitoneally with 0.5μg/g bodyweight LPS and sacrificed 2,4,6,18 or 24 h later. LPS-induced liver damage was confirmed by a biochemical assay to detect alanine aminotransferase(ALT) *** determine if LPS stimulation in the liver led to activation of the inflammasome,real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction was used to evaluate the mRNA expression of components of the Nalp3 ***-linked immunosorbent assays were used to determine the protein expression levels of several downstream targets of the Nalp3 inflammasome,including caspase-1 and two cytokine targets of caspase-1,interleukin(IL) -1βand IL-18. RESULTS:We found that LPS injection resulted in liver damage as indicated by elevated ALT *** was associated with a significant increase in both mRNA and protein levels of the proinflammatory cy-tokine tumor necrosis factor(TNF) -αin the liver,as well as increased levels of TNFs in *** showed that LPS stimulation led to upregulation of mRNA levels in the liver for all the receptor components of the inflammasome,including Nalp3,Nalp1,pannexin-1 and the adaptor molecule apoptosis-associated specklike,caspase recruitment domain-domain containing *** also found increased levels of mRNA and protein for caspase-1,a downstream target of the *** addition,LPS challenge led to increased levels of both mRNA and protein in the liver for two cytokine targets of caspase-1,IL-1βand IL-18. Interestingly,substantial baseline expression of pre-IL1βand pre-IL-18 was found in the *** and caspase-1 activation was indicated by the significant increase in the active forms of IL-1βand IL-18 after LPS stimulation. Recently, the long-term conflict avoidance approaches based on large-scale flights scheduling have attracted much attention due to their ability to provide solutions from a global point of view. However, current approaches which focus only on a single objective with the aim of minimizing the total delay and the number of conflicts, cannot provide controllers with variety of optional solutions, representing different tradeoffs. Furthermore, the flight track error is often overlooked in the current research. Therefore, in order to make the model more realistic, in this paper, we formulate the long-term conflict avoidance problem as a multi-objective optimization problem, which minimizes the total delay and reduces the number of conflicts simultaneously. As a complex air route network needs to accommodate thousands of flights, the problem is a large-scale combinatorial optimization problem with tightly coupled variables, which make the problem difficult to deal with. Hence,in order to further improve the search capability of the solution algorithm, a cooperative co-evolution(CC)algorithm is also introduced to divide the complex problem into several low dimensional sub-problems which are easier to solve. Moreover, a dynamic grouping strategy based on the conflict detection is proposed to improve the optimization efficiency and to avoid premature convergence. The well-known multi-objective evolutionary algorithm based on decomposition(MOEA/D) is then employed to tackle each sub-problem. Computational results using real traffic data from the Chinese air route network demonstrate that the proposed approach obtained better non-dominated solutions in a more effective manner than the existing approaches, including the multi-objective genetic algorithm(MOGA), NSGAII, and MOEA/D. The results also show that our approach provided satisfactory solutions for controllers from a practical point of view.

Turbulent dynamical systems involve dynamics with both a large dimensional phase space and a large number of positive Lyapunov exponents. Such systems are ubiquitous in applications in contemporary science and engineering where the statistical ensemble prediction and the real time filtering/state estimation are needed despite the underlying complexity of the system. Statistically exactly solvable test models have a crucial role to provide firm mathematical underpinning or new algorithms for vastly more complex scientific phenomena. Here, a class of statistically exactly solvable non-Gaussian test models is introduced, where a generalized Feynman-Kac formulation reduces the exact behavior of conditional statistical moments to the solution to inhomogeneous Fokker-Planck equations modified by linear lower order coupling and source terms. This procedure is applied to a test model with hidden instabilities and is combined with information theory to address two important issues in the contemporary statistical prediction of turbulent dynamical systems: the coarse-grained ensemble prediction in a perfect model and the improving long range forecasting in imperfect models. The models discussed here should be useful for many other applications and algorithms for the real time prediction and the state estimation.
