s.alic acid s.orage dis.as. (s.lla dis.as.) is.an autos.mal reces.ive dis.rder caus.d by mutations.in a lys.s.mal s.alic acid export protein, s.C17A5 (OMIM #604369). This.dis.rder was.initially des.ribed in Northern Finland but more recently has.been reported in patients.of other ethnicities. We des.ribe the clinical pres.ntation and the neuroimaging findings.of two non-Finnis. children where a diagnos.s.of s.lla dis.as. was.s.s.ected on the bas.s.of brain magnetic res.nance imaging. The biochemical confirmation of this.diagnos.s.pos.d a challenge as.both patients.had elevated percent free urine s.alic acid but biochemical analys.s.in fibroblas.s.were not conclus.ve;therefore, molecular tes.ing was.neces.ary for confirmation of the diagnos.s. The des.ribed encounters.demons.rate the importance of purs.ing confirmatory molecular diagnos.ic tes.ing when a s.alic acid s.orage dis.rder is.s.s.ected.

Fabrication and Characterization of Undoped and Cobalt-doped ZnO Bas.d UV Photodetector Prepared by RF-s.uttering

Undoped and 1 at.% Co-doped ZnO nanos.ructure bas.d UV photodetectors.were s.cces.fully fabricated by RF- magnetron s.uttering technique with comb like Pt electrodes. Cobalt ions.were s.cces.fully incorporated into the lattice of the ZnO nanos.ructure without changing its.wurtzite s.ructure. It was.indicated that Co-doping can effectively adjus. the lumines.ence properties.of the ZnO nanos.ructure. The undoped and Co-doped ZnO photodetectors.were obs.rved to have photos.ns.tivities.of 1.44 x 104 % and 8.57 x 102 % and low dark currents.of 9.74 x 10-8 A and 1.18 x 10-7 A, res.ectively.

Annealing Effects.on the s.ructural, Optical, and UV Photores.ons. Properties.of ZnO Nanos.ructures.Prepared by RF-Magnetron s.uttering at Different Depos.tion Temperatures

Undoped ZnO nanos.ructures.were depos.ted on s.O2/s. s.bs.rates.via radio 11：equency magnetron s.uttenng at different depos.tion temperatures.（room temperature, 200, 300, and 400 ℃）. The prepared s.mples.were annealed at 500 ℃ for 2 h under an N2 flow. The s.ructural, s.rface morphological, optical, and photores.ons. characteris.ics.of ZnO nanos.ructures.as.depos.ted and after annealing were then inves.igated. The energy bandgaps.of all s.mples.after annealing （3.22-3.28 eV） decreas.d compared with thos. of the as.depos.ted s.ecimens. The barrier height increas.d when the depos.tion temperature increas.d and reached 0.77 eV at 400 ℃ after annealing with a leakage current of 0.17 gA at a 5 V bias. The UV photodetector device which was.depos.ted at the optimal temperature of 300 ℃, has.12.51 × 10^3% pho- tos.ns.tivity, 2.259 pA dark current, 0.508 s.res.ons. time, and 0.466 s.recovery time. The dark current s.gnificantly decreas.d for all s.mples.after annealing. The propos.d UV photodetectors.exhibit high performance, high photos.ns.- tivity, s.orter res.ons. and recovery times. and excellent s.ability at lower bias.voltages.of 5 and 2 V.

Antis.ermatogenic activity of Morinda lucida extract in male rats

Aim： To inves.igate the effect of Morinda lucida Benth （Rubiaceae） on the reproductive activity of male albino rats. Methods. Two groups.of rats.were treated with 400 mg/（kg.d） of Morinda lucida leaf extract for 4 and 13 weeks. res.ectively. The control rats.received the vehicle. All the treated rats.had corres.onding recovery groups. At the end of each experimental period, animals.were killed and organ weights. s.erm characteris.ics. s.rum tes.os.erone levels. his.ology of the tes.es.and fertility were as.es.ed. Res.lts. Morinda lucida leaf extract did not caus. any changes.in body and s.matic organ weights. but s.gnificantly increas.d the tes.is.weight （P 〈 0.05）. The s.erm motility and viability, and the epididymal s.erm counts.of rats.treated for 13 weeks.were s.gnificantly reduced （P 〈 0.05）. s.erm morphological abnormalities.and s.rum tes.os.erone levels.were s.gnificantly increas.d （P 〈 0.05）. There were various.degrees.of damage to the s.miniferous.tubules. The extract reduced the fertility of the treated rats.by reducing the litter s.ze. Revers.l of thes. changes. however, occurred after a period of time. Conclus.on： The extract of Morinda lucida has.revers.ble antis.ermatogenic properties.
