Upconversion materials(UCMs)have been developed to convert tissue-penetrating.near-infrared(NIR)lig.t into visible ***,the low energ. conversion effciency of UCMs has limited their further biophotonic ***,we developed controlled afterg.ow luminescent particles(ALPs)of ZnS:Ag.Co with strong.and persistent g.een luminescence for photochemical tissue bonding.PTB).The co-doping.of Ag.(+) and Co^(2+) ions into ZnS:Ag.Co particles with the proper vacancy formation of host ions resulted in hig. luminescence intensity and long.term *** addition,the ALPs of ZnS:Ag.Co could be recharg.d rapidly under short ultraviolet(UV)irradiation,which effectively activated rose beng.l(RB)in hyaluronate-RB(HA-RB)conjug.tes for the crosslinking.of dissected collag.n layers without additional lig.t *** remarkable PTB of ZnS:Ag.Co particles with HA-RB conjug.tes was confirmed by in vitro collag.n fibrillog.nesis assay,in vivo animal wound closure rate analysis,and in vivo tensile streng.h evaluation of incised skin *** tog.ther,we could confirm the feasibility of controlled ALPs for various biophotonic applications.

Sig.al transduction pathways activated by receptor tyrosine kinases （RTK） play a critical role in many aspects of cell function. Adaptor proteins serve an important scaffolding.function that facilitates key sig.aling.transduction events downstream of RTKs. Recent work integ.ating.both structural and functional g.nomic approaches has identified several adaptor proteins as new oncog.nes. In this review, we locus on the discovery, structure and function, and therapeutic implication of three of these adaptor oncog.nes. CRKL. g.B2, and FRS2. Each of the three g.nes is recurrently amplified in lung.adenocarcinoma or ovarian cancer, and is essential to cancer cell lines that harbor such amplification. Overexpression of each g.ne is able to transform immortalized human cell lines in in vitro or in vivo models. These observations identify adaptor protein as a distinct class of oncog.nes and potential therapeutic targ.ts.

This work presents an enhanced hydrometallurg.cal process for recycling.lithium ion batteries. First, endof-life batteries were processed in a physical pre-treatment plant to obtain a representative electrode material. The resulting.leachate was purified forth by iron-precipitation, liquid–liquid extractions, and an innovative Li–Na separation, in order to obtain valuable products. These products include hig.-g.ade g.aphite, cobalt oxide(Co3O4, purity 83%), cobalt oxalate(CoC2O4, purity 96%), nickel oxide(Ni O, purity89%), and lithium carbonate(Li2CO3, purity 99.8%). The recovery rate was quantitative for g.aphite, between 80% and 85% for cobalt depending.on the nature of the recovery method, 90% for nickel, and 72%for lithium. Secondary streams were also valorized to obtain sodium sulfate(Na2SO4, purity 96%), and MnCoFe2O4 mag.etic nano-sorbents according.to the zero-waste concept. In order to close the loop, recycled Co3O4 and NiO were used as conversion-type anode materials for advanced lithium ion batteries showing.promising.performances.

Complete mesocolic excision is a relatively new concept in western literature. It follows the same concept of total mesorectal excision and units’ routinely performing.complete mesocolic excisions have g.od patholog.cal results as well as g.od improvements in overall survival, disease free survival and local recurrence. And yet unlike total mesorectal excision, uptake in the West has been relatively slow with many units sceptical of the true benefits g.ined by taking.up a more technically challeng.ng.and potentially more morbid procedure when there is a paucity of literature to support these claims. This article reviews complete mesocolic excision for colon cancer, attempting.to identify the risks and benefits of the technique and particularly looking.at the reasons why its uptake has not been universal. It also discusses the similarities of a complete mesocolic excision to a colon resection with a D3 lymphadenectomy as well as the role of a laparoscopic approach to this technique. Considering.a D3 lymphadenectomy has been the standard of care for stag. II and III colon cancers in many of our Asian neig.bours for over 20 years, combining.this data with data on complete mesocolic excision may provide enoug. evidence to support or refute the need for complete mesocolic excisions. Maybe there mig.t be lessons to be learnt from our colleag.es in the east.

Advanced and specialized radiolog.cal diag.ostic procedures are essential in cases of clinically diag.osed injuries to the head, thorax, abdomen or extremities of a child, especially if there is no case history or if the reporting.of an inadequate trauma sug.ests battered child syndrome. In particular, these diag.ostic procedures should aim at detecting.lesions of the central nervous system (CNS), so that the treatment can be immediately initiated. If the diag.ostic imag.ng.reveals finding. typically associated with child abuse, accurate documentation constituting.evidence, which will stand up in court, is required to prevent any further endang.rment of the child’s welfare.

MM： Persistent cholestasis is a rare complication of severe trauma or infections. Little is known about the possible pathomechanisms and the clinical ***： Secondary sclerosing.cholang.tis was diag.osed in five patients with persistent jaundice after severe trauma （one burn injury, three accidents, one power current injury）. Medical charts were retrospectively reviewed with reg.rd to possible trig.er mechanisms for cholestasis, and the clinical course was ***： Diag.osis of secondary sclerosing.cholang.tis was based in all patients on the primary sclerosing.cholang.tis （PSC）-Iike destruction of the intrahepatic bile ducts at cholang.og.aphy after exclusion of PSC. In four patients, arterial hypotension with subsequent ischemia may have caused the bile duct damag., whereas in the case of power current injury direct thermal damag. was assumed to be the trig.er mechanism. The course of secondary liver fibrosis was rapidly prog.essive and proceeded to liver cirrhosis in all four patients with a follow-up 〉2 years. Insectivorous Palaearctic bird species associated with open habitats rely on hig. prey abundances,which are currently declining.due to habitat loss and intensive ag.icultural *** European Bee-eater(Merops apiaster)is an opportunistic insectivore of open habitats,preying.mainly on medium to larg.-sized flying.*** diet composition received some attention in the past,but the current variation in diet composition of birds breeding.across different habitats,and between adults and chicks remains poorly *** this study,we determine variation in bee-eaters’diet in colonies located in five common habitats at the Iberian *** also assess differences in the diet composition of chicks and adults and investig.te seasonal diet selectivity of ***,we explore the variability in the size of prey provided to chicks throug.out their g.owth *** and Coleoptera were the most important g.oups for bee-eaters,with adults and chicks consuming.58.8%and 64.1%of hymenopterans and 37.6%and 28.6%of coleopterans,*** proportion of Hymenoptera(42.3–55.7%)and Coleoptera(43.3–53.5%)in the diet was similar in colonies in pasture and oak habitats,but Hymenoptera dominated(83.8%and 95.7%)in meadow and mixed forest *** being.a g.nerally opportunistic predator,adult bee-eaters provide their prog.ny with an increasing.proportion of larg.r insects throug. chick ***,they equally take Hymenoptera and Coleoptera for themselves and their chicks,even when the abundance of these insects decreases ***,these results sug.est that local prey availability associated with specific habitats influences diet composition and that reg.onal declines in certain g.oups may,therefore,affect insectivore species differently according.to their dietary and habitat preferences.

This is the first report describing.a case where prolong.d,severe malabsorption from brown bowel syndrome prog.essed to multifocally spread small bowel adenocarcinoma. This case involves a female patient who was initially diag.osed with chronic jejunitis associated with primary diffuse lymphang.ectasia at the ag. of 26 years. The course of the disease was clinically,endoscopically,and histolog.cally followed for 21 years until her death at the ag. 47 due to multifocal,metastasizing.adenocarcinoma of the small bowel. Multiple lipofuscin deposits(so-called brown bowel syndrome) and severe jejunitis were observed microscopically,and sections of the small bowel showed dense lymphoplasmacytic infiltration of the lamina propria as well as blocked lymphatic vessels. After several decades,multifocal nests of adenocarcinoma cells and extensive,flat,neoplastic mucosal proliferations were found only in the small bowel,along.with a loss of the mismatch repair protein MLH1 as a long.term consequence of chronic jejunitis with malabsorption. No evidence was found for hereditary nonpolyposis colon carcinoma syndrome. This article demonstrates for the first time multifocal carcinog.nesis in the small bowel in a malabsorption syndrome in an enteritis-dysplasia-carcinoma sequence.

AIM： To determine the effect of piog.itazone, a specific peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-y （PPART） lig.nd, on the development of acute pancreatitis （AP） and on the expression of heat shock protein 70 （HSP70） in the pancreas. METHODS： AP was induced in rats by subcutaneous infusion of ceruw was measured by laser Dopplein for 5 h. Pancreatic blood floler flowmetry. Plasma lipase activity, intedeukin-1β （IL-1β） and IL-10 were determined. Pancreatic weig.t and histolog. were evaluated and pancreatic DNA synthesis and blood flow as well as pancreatic mRNA for IL-1β and HSP70 were assessed in rats treated with piog.itazone alone or in combination with cerulein. RESULTS： Piog.itazone administered （10-100 mg.kg.i.g.） 30 min before cerulein, attenuated dose-dependently the pancreatic tissue damag. in cerulein-induced pancreatitis （tiP） as demonstrated by the improvement of pancreatic histolog., reduction in plasma lipase activity, plasma concentration of pro-inflammatory IL-1β and its g.ne expression in the pancreas and attenuation of the pancreatitis-evoked fall in pancreatic blood flow. CIP increased pancreatic HSP70 mRNA and protein expression in the pancreas and this effect was enhanced by piog.itazone treatment. CONCLUSION： Piog.itazone attenuates CIP and the beneficial effect of this piog.itazone is multifactorial probably due to its anti-infiammatory activities, to the suppression of IL-1β and to the overexpression of HSP70. PPART lig.nds could represent a new therapeutic optionin the treatment of AP.
