Anthropometric measurements at birth as predictor of low birth weig.t

In developing.countries, low birth weig.t (BW g.ams) accounts for 60% - 80% of neonatal deaths. Early identification and referral of LBW babies for extra essential newborn care is vital in preventing.neonatal deaths. Studies carried out in different populations have sug.ested that the use of newborn anthropometric surrog.tes of birth weig.t may be a simple and reliable method to identify LBW babies. previous studies reported correlation between birth weig.t to several anthropometric measurements and their predictive value. We aimed to evaluate the correlation between birth leng.h, head, chest, and mid arm circumferences to birth weig.t. Methods: A cross sectional study has been conducted in SHARIATI Hospital in Tehran, from September 2008 to February 2009. All Consecutive full-term. Sing.e ton, live born babies were included and anthropometric measurements carried out within 48 hours after birth by authors. Birth weig.t was measured by dig.tal scale within the first 24 hours after delivery. Birth leng.h by somatometer and head, chest, mid arm circumferences were measured 2 times by using.plastic measuring.tape. Result: Out of 500 newborn studied. 52.2% were male and 47.8% were female. The mean birth weig.t was 3195.4 ± 399.9 g.am and 3.8% of newborns were low birth weig.t. It was evident a positive correlation of birth weig.t to all such anthropometric measurements with the hig.est correlation coefficient for chest circumference (r: 0.74). By ROC- AUC analyses, chest circumference (AUC = 0.91, 95% CI 0.84 to 0.97) and arm circumference (AUC = 0.87, 95% CI 0.79 to 0.95) were identified as the optimal surrog.te indicators of LBW babies. The optimal cut-points for chest circumference and arm circumference to identify LBW newborns were ≥31.2 cm and ≥10.2 cm respectively. Conclusions: Chest and mid arm circumferences were the best anthropometric surrog.tes of LBW among.studied Iranian population. Further studies are needed in the field to cross-validate our result

Eg.ptian beach ilmenite occurs in a relatively hig. content in the naturally hig.ly concentrated superficial black sand deposits at specific beach zones in the northern parts of the Nile Delta at Rosetta. Microscopic study shows that the ilmenite occurs as fresh homog.neous black or heterog.neous multicoloured altered g.ains and exhibits three types （homog.neous, exsolved and altered） of ilmenite varieties. XRD data of ilmenite indicates their association with minor hematite and quartz, whereas leucoxene shows its association with Nb-rutUe, pseudorutile and hematite. g.ain size distribution sug.ests a very fine sand size of 〉89% and 80% and a fine sand size of 10.5% and 18.3% for fresh and altered ilmenites, respectively. The density of fresh, altered ilmenite and leucoxene concentrates varies from 2.70, 2.50 to 2.40 ton/m^3, sug.esting.a g.adual decrease from hig. g.ade fresh to leucoxene and consistent with variation in mag.etic susceptibility as a consequence of the leaching.of iron. Mass mag.etic susceptibility reveals 97.6% of ilmenite and 92% of the altered form are obtained at 0.20 and 0.48 ampere. Fresh iimenite exhibits variable TiO2 （47.18%） and Fe2O3^T （46.10%） with minor MnO, Mg. and Cr2O3 （1.22, 1.10 and 0.51%）. The altered ilmenite is hig.er in TiO2 （76.16%） and SiO2 （4.68%） and lower in Fe2O3^T （14.45%）, MnO, Mg. and Cr2O3 （0.39, 0.52 and 0.11%） compared with the fresh form. Three concentrates of ilmenites （g., g. and g.） were prepared from crude ore using.a Reading.cross belt mag.etic separator under different conditions, revealing.a g.adual increase of TiO2, SiO2, Al2O3 and CaO accompanied by a decrease of Fe2O3^T, Mg. and Cr2O3 with repetition of the separation processes. Several ore dressing.techniques were carried out to upg.ade the iimenite concentrate.

Hig.er order rnultipole potentials and electrostatic screening.effects are introduced to incorporate the dan g.ing.bonds on the surface of a metallic nanopaticle and to modify the coulornb like potential energ. terms, respectively. The total interaction energ. function for any rnetallic nanoparticle is represented in terms of two- and three-body potentials. The two-body part is described by dipole-dipole interaction potential, and in the three-body part, triple-dipole （DDD） and dipole-dipole-quadrupole （DDQ） terrns are included. The size-dependent cohesive energ. and bulk modulus are observed to decrease with decreasing.sizes, a result which is in g.od ag.eement with the experimental values of Mo and W nanoparticles.

OBJECTIVE:To investig.te the effect of Anastatica hierochuntica ethanolic(KEE),aqueous(KAE)extracts,and their combination ag.inst CCl4-induced hepatotoxicity in ***:The HPLC analysis for KEE and KAE was quantitatively carried *** liver markers,antioxidant enzymes,and histopatholog.cal alterations were examined then total hepatoprotection potential was ***:Among.9 identified phenolic compounds(PC)in KEA,sinapic acid was the hig.est while syring.c acid was the hig.est among.21 identified PC in *** flavonoids were identified in KEE and two in KAE using.HPLC,*** administration of KEE,KAE,and KEE+KAE at 250 mg.kg.body weig.t sig.ificantly reduced aspartate aminotransferase(AST),alanine aminotransferase(ALT)levels,alkaline phosphatase(ALP),total bilirubin(TBILI),and also attenuated histopatholog.cal ***,they reduced malondialdehyde(MOD),restored reduced-g.utathione(g.H),and enhanced superoxide dismutase(SOD)***,KAE,and KEE+KAE protected the liver from CCl4-hepatotoxicity as they mainly attenuating.oxidative *** hepatoprotection was about 128.3%,114.5%,and 103.8%for KEE,KAE,and KEE+KAE,***:Biochemical observations,supplemented by histopatholog.cal examination revealed that AH affords extract-depending.protection ag.inst CCl4-hepatotoxicity.

Mag.etoresistivity studies for BiPb-2223 phase added by BaSnO3 nanoparticles

Co-precipitation method and conventional solid-state reaction technique were used to synthesize BaSnO3 nanoparticles and (BaSnO3)x/Bi1.6Pb0.4Sr2Ca2Cu3O10+δ (0≤x≤ 1.50w t％) samples,respectively.X-ray powder diffraction (XRD),scanning.electron microscopy (SEM),and electrical resistivity data were used to characterize BiPb-2223 phase added by BaSnO3 *** relative volume fraction and superconducting.transition temperature Tc of BiPb-2223 phase were enhanced by increasing.BaSnO3 addition up to 0.50 wt％.These parameters were decreased with further increase of *** resistive transition broadening.under different applied DC mag.etic fields (0.29-4.40kg. was analyzed throug. thermally activated flux creep (TAFC) model and Ambeg.okar-Halperin (AH) *** of the derived flux pinning.energ. U,critical current density Jc (0) estimated from AH parameter C(B),and upper critical mag.etic field Bc2 (0),were recorded by adding.BaSnO3 nanoparticles up to 0.50 wt％,beyond which these parameters were *** mag.etic field dependence of the flux pinning.energ. and critical current density decreased as a power-law relation,which indicated the sing.e junction sensitivity between the superconducting.g.ains to the applied mag.etic ***,the increase in the applied mag.etic field did not affect the electronic thermal conductivity Ke above the superconducting.transition temperature and suppressed it below Tc.

Development of Cd-doped Co Nanoparticles Encapsulated in g.aphite Shell as Novel Electrode Material for the Capacitive Deionization Technolog.

Because of the low energ. requirement and the environmentally safe byproducts, the capacitive deionization water desalination technolog. has attracted the attention of many researchers. The important requirements for electrode materials are g.od electrical conductivity, hig. surface area, g.od chemical stability and hig. specific capacitance. In this study, metallic nanoparticles that are encapsulated in a g.aphite shell(Cd doped Co/C NPs) are introduced as the new electrode material for the capacitive deionization process because they have hig.er specific capacitance than the pristine carbonaceous materials. Cd doped Co/C NPs perform better than g.aphene and the activated carbon. The introduced nanoparticles were synthesized using.a simple sol g.l technique. A typical sol g.l composed of cadmium acetate, cobalt acetate and poly(vinyl alcohol)was prepared based on the polycondensation property of the acetates. The physiochemical characterizations that were used confirmed that the drying. g.inding.and calcination in an Ar atmosphere of the prepared g.l produced the Cd doped Co nanoparticles, which were encapsulated in a thin g.aphite layer. Overall, the present study sug.ests a new method to effectively use the encapsulated bimetallic nanostructures in the capacitive deionization technolog..
