Unisexual reproduction is generally relevant to polyploidy, and unisexual vertebrates are often considered an evolutionary “dead end” due to the accumulation of deleterious mutations and absence of genetic diversity. However, some unisexual polyploids have developed strategies to avoid genomic decay, and thus provide ideal models to unveil unexplored evolutionary mechanisms, from the reproductive success to clonal diversity creation. This article reviews the evolutionary mechanisms for overcoming meiotic barrier and generating genetic diversity in unisexual vertebrates, and summarizes recent research advancements in the polyploid Carassius complex. gynogenetic gibel carp(Carassius gibelio) is a unique amphitriploid that has undergone a recurrent autotriploidy and has overcome the bottleneck of triploid sterility via gynogenesis. Recently, an efficient strategy in which ploidy changes, including from amphitriploid to amphitetraploid, then from amphitetraploid to novel amphitriploid, drive unisexual-sexual-unisexual reproduction transition and clonal diversity has been *** on this new discovery, multigenomic reconstruction biotechnology has been used to breed a novel strain with superior growth and stronger disease resistance. Moreover, a unique reproduction mode that combines both abilities of ameiotic oogenesis and sperm-egg fusion,termed as ameio-fusiongensis, has been discovered, and it provides an efficient approach to synthesize sterile allopolyploids. In order to avoid ecological risks upon escape and protect the sustainable property rights of the aquaculture seed industry, a controllable fertility biotechnology approach for precise breeding is being developed by integrating sterile allopolyploid synthesis and gene-editing *** review provides novel insights into the origin and evolution of unisexual vertebrates and into the attempts being made to exploit new breeding biotechnologies in aquaculture.

The demand for lightweight,thin electromagnetic interference(EMI)shielding film materials with high shielding effectiveness(SE),excellent mechanical properties,and stability in complex environments is particularly pronounced in the realm of flexible and portable electronic ***,we developed an ultra-thin film(CNT@GC)in which the glassy carbon(GC)layer wrapped around and welded carbon nanotubes(CNTs)to form a core-shell network structure,leading to exceptional tensile strength(327.2 MPa)and electrical conductivity(2.87×10^(5) S·m^(−1)).The CNT@GC film achieved EMI SE of 60 dB at a thickness of 2µm after post-acid treatment and high specific SE of 3.49×10^(5) dB·cm^(2)·g^(−1),with comprehensive properties surpassing those of the majority of previous shielding ***,the CNT@GC film exhibited Joule heating capability,reaching a surface temperature of 135℃at 3 V with a fast thermal response of about 0.5 s,enabling anti-icing/de-icing *** work presented a methodology for constructing a robust CNT@GC film with high EMI shielding performance and exceptional Joule heating capability,demonstrating immense potential in wearable devices,defense,and aerospace applications.

BAD-FM:Backdoor Attacks Against Factorization-Machine Based Neural Network for Tabular Data Prediction

Backdoor attacks pose great threats to deep neural network models. All existing backdoor attacks are designed for unstructured data(image, voice, and text), but not structured tabular data, which has wide real-world applications, e.g., recommendation systems, fraud detection, and click-through rate prediction. To bridge this research gap, we make the first attempt to design a backdoor attack framework, named BAD-FM, for tabular data prediction models. Unlike images or voice samples composed of homogeneous pixels or signals with continuous values, tabular data samples contain well-defined heterogeneous fields that are usually sparse and discrete. Tabular data prediction models do not solely rely on deep networks but combine shallow components(e.g., factorization machine, FM) with deep components to capture sophisticated feature interactions among fields. To tailor the backdoor attack framework to tabular data models, we carefully design field selection and trigger formation algorithms to intensify the influence of the trigger on the backdoored model. We evaluate BAD-FM with extensive experiments on four datasets, i.e.,HUAWEI, Criteo, Avazu, and KDD. The results show that BAD-FM can achieve an attack success rate as high as 100%at a poisoning ratio of 0.001%, outperforming baselines adapted from existing backdoor attacks against unstructured data models. As tabular data prediction models are widely adopted in finance and commerce, our work may raise alarms on the potential risks of these models and spur future research on defenses.

In this study,we present a novel nodal integration-based particle finite element method(N-PFEM)designed for the dynamic analysis of saturated *** approach incorporates the nodal integration technique into a generalised Hellinger-Reissner(HR)variational principle,creating an implicit PFEM *** mitigate the volumetric locking issue in low-order elements,we employ a node-based strain smoothing *** discretising field variables at the centre of smoothing cells,we achieve nodal integration over cells,eliminating the need for sophisticated mapping operations after re-meshing in the *** express the discretised governing equations as a min-max optimisation problem,which is further reformulated as a standard second-order cone programming(SOCP)***,pore water pressure,and displacements are simultaneously determined using the advanced primal-dual interior point ***,our numerical model offers improved accuracy for stresses and pore water pressure compared to the displacement-based PFEM *** experiments demonstrate that the N-PFEM efficiently captures both transient and long-term hydro-mechanical behaviour of saturated soils with high accuracy,obviating the need for stabilisation or regularisation techniques commonly employed in other nodal integration-based PFEM *** work holds significant implications for the development of robust and accurate numerical tools for studying saturated soil dynamics.

Despite the challenges that remain,the synergistic adjustment of various microstructures and photochemical parameters of graphitic carbon nitride(g-C_(3)N_(4))in photocatalytic reactions holds promises for improving catalytic efficiency and reducing energy ***,sulfur-doped and nitrogen-defective g-C_(3)N_(4)(n-SC_(3)N_(x))nanosheets were designed and elaborately *** resultant n-SC_(3)N_(x)possessed a precisely defined 2D layer structure with extensive porosity and incremental specific surface *** photoinduced electron transfer-reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer(PET-RAFT)polymerization of vinyl monomers with low dispersity,excellent temporal control and high chain-end fidelity was achieved under mild blue light irradiation in a nondegassed *** to their ultrathin nanostructures with nitrogen defects and sulfur dopants,n-SC_(3)N_(x)was capable of catalyzing RAFT polymerization in aqueous solutions at significantly accelerated rates,which were nearly 8 times faster compared to bulk g-C_(3)N_(4).The ease of separation and efficient reusability in subsequent polymerizations was enabled by the heterogeneous nature of n-SC_(3)N_(x).The appeal of this approach was illustrated by the fact that utilizing a reusable and metal-free photocatalyst in aqueous environments allowed for the synthesis of polymers with molecular weight up to 300 kg mol^(-1) and a dispersity of 1.32.

We perform a unified description of the experimental data of the π^(+)π^(-)and J/ψπ^(±)invariant mass spectra for e^(+)e^(-)→J/ψπ^(+)π^(-)and the D^(0)D^(*-)mass spectrum for e^(+)e^(-)→D^(0)D^(*-)π^(+)at e^(+)e^(-)center-of-mass energies 4.23 and 4.26 *** analysis takes into account open-charm meson loops that contain triangle singularities,the J/ψπ-DD^(*)coupled-channel interaction respecting unitarity,and the strong ππ-KK final state interaction using dispersion *** analysis leads to a precise determination of the Z_(c)(3900)pole with the pole mass and width(3880.7±1.7_(stat)±22.4_(syst))MeV and(35.9±1.4_(stat)±15.3_(syst))MeV,respectively,and hints at that the DD^(*)molecular and non-molecular components are of similar importance in the Z_(c)(3900)formation.
