We consider the one-dimensional bio-heat transfer equation with quadratic temperature-dependent blood perfusion, which governs the temperature distribution inside biological tissues. Using an extended mapping method with symbolic computation, we obtain the exact analytical thermal traveling wave solution, which describes the non-uniform temperature distribution inside the bodies. The found exact solution is used to investigate the temperature distribution in the tissues. It is found that the surrounding medium with higher temperature does not necessarily imply that the tissue will quickly (after a short duration of heating process) reach the desired temperature. It is also found that increased perfusion causes a decline in local temperature.

The authors will focus on the study of the design of Multiprocessor Systems on Chip （MPSoC）, specifically in the context of improving the performance of applications located on the MPSoC architecture. The objective of this research is to study the problems of transition from a pure software implementation for an embodiment admitting one or more hardware components and to develop a methodology for automatic generation of migration of a software task into a hardware component in MPSoC. The transformation of a software task into a hardware task led to many changes, hardware part （connection, the requirement of an interrupt controller...）, software part （at least one task, I/O （I/O）, synchronization...） and an architectural point of view, the remarkable aspects of data storage. The experiment is done on the MJPEG decoder to illustrate the effectiveness of the authors＇ tool for automatic generation of migration.

Hydrochemical and Isotopic Study of Groundwater in the North Djeffara Aquifer, Gulf of Gabès, Southern Tunisia

The northern Djeffara aquifer system is located in the southeast ofTunisiaand extends over an area of400 km2. This multilayer system of aquifers is essentially recharged by infiltration of rain and by groundwater of the Continental Inter-calaire aquifer, and occurs mainly at two levels between 0 and180 mdepth that belong to the Mio-Pliocene to form the aquifers. A combined hydrogeologic and isotopic investigation using several chemical and isotopic tracers’, i.e., major ions, δ18O, δ2H and tritium, was carried out in order to determine the sources of water recharge to the aquifer and the origin of salinity. The results of geochemical and isotopic studies show that the groundwater in the south of the study area represents a mixture of the Djeffara aquifer groundwater and locally infiltrates modern recharge. In the northern part, the groundwater which resembles that of the Sekhira aquifer originates from locally infiltrated rain and runoff. The salinity of the groundwater is caused by dissolution of evaporate rocks (gypsum and halite minerals) in the aquifer system. The stable isotopes data do not support the hypothesis of mixing with seawater.

Origanum elongatum (Bonnet) Emb. & Maire, is a medicinal, aromatic and endemic plant of Morocco, characterized by its pharmacological effects, and is commonly used for the production of essential oils and aromas, resulting in high harvest and overexploitation pressure. This is why the present study aims to implement the in vitro micropropagation of Origanum elongatum for optimal vitroplant production. Six macroelements were tested (SH, SD, N30K, MS, MSm and B5) and the SD medium was selected for vegetative propagation of the explants. Seven cytokinins: adenine (Ad), N6-(2-Isopentenyl) adenine, zeatin (Zeat), kinetin (Kin), benzyladenine (BAP), 1,3-diphenylurea (DPU) and thidiazuron (TDZ) were then evaluated at five concentrations (0.44, 1.33, 2.22, 3.11 and 4.44 μM/L) on growth, development, budding, rooting and hyperhydricity. 0.44 μM Kin was selected and combined with three auxins: indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), indole-3-butyric acid (AIB), and 1-naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) at four concentrations (1.14, 2.85, 4.56 and 6.27 μM/L) to improve rooting and association with 1.14 μM IAA was shown to be efficient for roots development. Different concentrations of gibberellic acid (0.29, 1.5, 2.60 and 2.89 μM/L), combined with 0.44 μM/L Kin and 1.14 μM/L IAA, were tested and 2.60 μM/L GA3 gave maximum buds and shoots. Then, the combination of three polyamines at five concentrations (1.134, 3.402, 5.67, 7.938 and 11.34 μM/L) with 0.44 μM Kin and 1.14 μM/L IAA showed an increase in the number of buds and shoots for 7.938 μM/L putrescine and 3.402 μM/L spermine. Finally, seedlings with good foliar and root development were acclimatized.

Handwritten signature recognition is presented based on an angle feature vector by using the artificial neural network （ANN） in this research. Each signature image will be represented by an angle vector. The feature vector will constitute the input to the ANN. The collection of signature images is divided into two sets. One set will be used for training the ANN in a supervised fashion. The other set which is never seen by the ANN will be used for testing. After training, the ANN will be tested by recognizing the signatures. When a signature is classified correctly, it is considered correct recognition, otherwise it is a failure. The achieved recognition rate of this system is 94%.

Cherry regeneration via somatic embryogenesis is a powerful tool to breeding. In this way, the embryogenic capacity of Prunus incisa specie has been tested from leaves under different interactions of picloram concentrations and darkness exposures. Induction culture was achieved on MS medium supplemented with picloram concentrations at 0.5, 1 and 1.5 mg.L1 and submitted to 10, 20, 30 and 40 days of darkness. The best rate of embryogenic leaves was obtained with the interaction of 30 days darkness exposure＊ 1 mg.L^-1 picloram. According to their age, leaves were differently reacted to somatic embryogenesis; indeed, the 2nd expanded leaf from the apex was the most embryogenic one. Concerning the effect of additional auxin to picloram （1 mg·L^-1）, IAA at 0.1 mg·L^-1 and IBA at 0.1 mg·L^-1 gave significantly higher induction rates than all other concentrations, but regenerating somatic embryos showed some teratological abnormalities probably due to seconda;y embryogenesis. At the opposite, NAA at 0.5 mg·L^-1 didn＇t improve embryogenic rate but affected positively embryo development. Furthermore, embryogenesis preferentially took place on the basal part of leaf. Satisfactory rates of somatic embryogenesis are obtained but further improvement remains possible.

Excessive soil salinity is an important constraint limiting the distribution of plants in natural habitats, and is an increasingly severe agricultural problem in arid and semi-arid regions. Higher salinity levels caused significant reduction in growth parameters like leaf area, leaf length and root and shoot dry weight. Salicylic acid （SA）, a plant phenolic is now considered as a hormone-like endogenous regulator, and its role in the defence mechanisms against biotic stressors has been well documented. In recent years its role has been widely investigated in abiotic stress （salinity, drought, water deficit and so on）. The aim of the present work was to study the effects of salicylic acid on growth and some physiological characters of salt stressed tomato plants. The presence of salicylic acid at low concentration （0.01 mM） in culture medium riched with NaCl 100 mM （6 g·L^-1） improves the tolerance of tomato cv. Golden Sunrise to salinity. This amelioration results in stimulation of growth and development of plants. The applied of SA in saline medium induce：（i） an increase in chlorophyll content; （ii） a better supply of essential elements in plant growth, such as K＋; （iii） a decrease in toxic ions such Na＋ and CI in aerial organs; and （iv） an additional synthesis of organic solutes and osmoprotectors like proline and proteins. All these results suggest that salicylic acid could be successfully used in alleviating depressive effects of salt on the productivity of the cultivated tomato.

In this paper, we propose novel hardware architecture for intra 16 × 16 module for the macroblock engine of a new video coding standard H.264. To reduce the cycle of intra prediction 16 × 16, transform/quantization, and inverse quantization/inverse transform of H.264, an advanced method for different operation is proposed. This architecture can process one macroblock in 208 cycles for all cases of macroblock type by processing 4 × 4 Hadamard transform and quantization during 16 × 16 prediction. This module was designed using VHDL Hardware Description Language (HDL) and works with a 160 MHz frequency using ALTERA NIOS-II development board with Stratix II EP2S60F1020C3 FPGA. The system also includes software running on an NIOS-II processor in order to implementing the pre-processing and the post-processing functions. Finally, the execution time of our HW solution is decreased by 26% when compared with the previous work.

Synovial sarcoma originating from the kidney is extremely rare. A 13-year-old girl presented with a mild left flank pain of one-week duration, with no associated history of hematuria or any other systemic symptoms. Computed tomography (CT) demonstrated a 6 × 13 × 9 cm mass in the left kidney. No soft tissue or extrarenal masses were identified. The patient received a combined of treatment with doxorubicin and ifosfamide. A radical nephrectomy was performed in the left kidney with no complications. Postoperative pathology revealed post-chemotherapy residue of monophasic spindle cell synovialosarcoma of the left kidney. She received a combined treatment with doxorubicin and ifosfamide in concomittance with external radiation therapy. The patient was re-examined 4 months after surgery. An abdominal and pulmonary CT found no recurrence or metastasis.
