As a noble metal substitute,two-dimensional(2D)hierarchical nano-frame structures have attracted great interest as candidate catalysts due to their remarkable advantages-high intrinsic activity,high electron mobility,and straightforward surface ***,they may replace Pt-based catalysts in oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)***,a simple method is developed to design hierarchical nano-frame structures assembled via 2D NiO and N-doped graphene(ng)*** procedure can yield nanostructures that satisfy the criteria correlated with improved electrocatalytic performance,such as large surface area,numerous undercoordinated atoms,and high defect ***,porous ng nanosheet architectures,featuring NiO nanosheets densely coordinated with accessible holey Fe_(2)O_(3) moieties,can enhance mesoporosity and balance *** improvements can facilitate charge transport and expose formerly inaccessible reaction sites,maximizing active site density *** functional theory(DFt)calculations reveal favored O_(2) adsorption and dissociation on Fe_(2)O_(3) hybrid structures when supported by 2D NiO and ng nanomaterials,given 2D materials donated charge to Fe_(2)O_(3) active *** systematic studies reveal that synergistic contributions are responsible for enriching the catalytic activity of Fe_(2)O_(3)@NiO/ng in alkaline media-encompassing internal voids and pores,unique hierarchical support structures,and concentrated N-dopant and bimetallic atomic ***,this work expands the toolbox for designing and synthesizing highly efficient 2D/2D shelled functional nanomaterials with transition metals,endeavoring to benefit energy conversion and related ORR applications.

Millets are widely recognized for their nutritional significance;however, the methods employed for their processing are currently lacking. this article primarily focuses on the advanced technologies and progressions in millet dehulling and polishing. these technologies operate based on the fundamental principles of compression-shearing, abrasion-friction, and centrifugal-impact forces. Processing of millets can be challenging because of the physical characteristics and tight attachment of hull and bran to the endosperm. However, several dehullers have been designed to solve this problem for different kinds of millets. In addition, the nutritional and anti-nutritional characteristics undergo alterations due to both dehulling and polishing processes. these alterations are thoroughly examined and discussed in this article. Specifically, anti-nutrients such as tannins and phytate are predominantly found in the outer pericarp of the grain and experience a reduction after undergoing dehulling and polishing. the nutritional properties are also subjected to a reduction;however, this reduction can be mitigated by subject.ng the grains to certain pretreatments before dehulling and polishing. these treatments serve to enhance dehulling efficiency and nutrient digestibility while simultaneously reducing the presence of anti-nutrients. Novel thermal and non-thermal methodologies such as microwave, hydrothermal, high-pressure processing, and ohmic heat.ng can be employed for processing millets, thereby diminishing the loss of nutrients. Additional research can be carried out to investigate their impact on the dehulling and polishing of millets.

Food security has been long understudied in the context of Central *** present an analysis examining household-level food demand for tajikistan and assessing the magnitude of its food security changes during the COVID-19 *** on an extensive household survey data set from tajikistan,we estimate the expenditure,income,and price elasticities for nine food categories using the QUAIDS ***,we develop a microsimulation model using the estimated elasticities to assess the dual impact of declining remittance income and rising food prices stemming from the pandemic *** are significant differences in demand elasticities across food groups,with high elasticities observed for nutritious foods,such as meat,fruit,eggs,and milk,in rural ***,our findings show that changes in remittance income and food prices significantly negatively affected food security for rural households during the COVID-19 *** findings have important implications for policymakers concerned about rural livelihoods and food security in remittance-receiving economies during the post-pandemic period.

AIM to assess nutritional recovery,particularly regarding feeding jejunostomy tube(FJt)utilization,following upper gastrointestinal resection for malignancy. MEtHODS A retrospective review was performed of a prospectively-maintained database of adult patients who underwent esophagectomy or gastrectomy(subtotal or total)for cancer with curative intent,from January 2001 to June 2014. Patient demographics,the approach to esophagectomy,the extent of gastrectomy,FJt placement and utilization at discharge,administration of parenteral nutrition(PN),and complications were evaluated. All patients were followed for at least ninety days or until *** the 287 patients underwent upper GI resection,comprised of 182 esophagectomy(n=107 transhiatal,58.7%; n=56 Ivor-Lewis,30.7%)and 105 gastrectomy [n=63 subtotal(SG),60.0%; n=42 total(tG),40.0%]. 181 of 182 esophagectomy patients underwent FJt,compared with 47 of 105 gastrectomy patients(99.5% vs 44.8%,P t had undergone tG(n=39,92.9% vs n=8 SG,12.9%,P ngth of stay was similar between esophagectomy and gastrectomy groups(14.7 d vs 17.1 d,P=0.076). Upon discharge,87 esophagectomy patients(48.1%)were taking enteral feeds,with 53(29.3%)fully and 34(18.8%)partially dependent. Meanwhile,20 of 39 tG patients(51.3%)were either fully(n=3,7.7%)or partially(n=17,43.6%)dependent on tube feeds,compared with 5 of 8 SG patients(10.6%),all of whom were partially dependent. Gastrectomy patients were significantly less likely to be fully dependent on tube feeds at discharge compared to esophagectomy patients(6.4% vs 29.3%,P=0.0006). PN was administered despite FJt placement more often following gastrectomy than esophagectomy(n=11,23.4% vs n=7,3.9%,P=0.0001). FJt-specific complications requiring reoperation within 30 d of resection occurred more commonly in the gastrectomy group(n=6),all after tG,compared to 1 esophagectomy patient(12.8% vs 0.6%,P=0.0003). Dear Editor,Previous studies had described the adaptation of enterovirus 71(EV-A71)strains that enabled entry and viral replication in Chinese Hamster Ovary(CHO)cell line(Zaini and McMinn 2012;Zaini et al.2012).these adapted strains derived from serial passage of a clinical isolate in CHO cells exhibited an amino acid substitution at VP2149,which enhanced viral replication by 100*1000-fold compared to the clinical *** VP2149 mutation was claimed responsible for adaptation to CHO-K1 cells without performing detailed molecular analyses to support these *** this study,we evaluate various VP1 and VP2 mutations in two CHO-adapted EV-A71 strains derived in our lab to assess their contribution to the phenotype of CHO cell adaptation.

Indole-3-carbinol(I3C) and diindolylmethane(DIM) are naturally derived dietary phytochemicals with promising anti-cancer properties that have been demonstrated both in vitro and in vivo. Using reversed-phase ultra-performance liquid chromatography(UPLC) coupled with mass spectrometry(MS), a rapid, specific, and high throughput method was developed and validated for the quantification and identification of I3 C, DIM, and other I3 C metabolites in plasma. Samples containing I3 C or DIM and the internal standard 4-methoxy indole(IS) were extracted using a liquid-liquid extraction technique. the mean recovery was 96.21% for I3 C and 108.5% for DIM. Separation was achieved using a Waters Acquity UPLC HSS t3, 1.8 μm, 2.1 mm×150 mm column and acetonitrile–water gradient elution. the flow rate was 0.3 m L/min and the run time was 9 min. the limits of detection and quantification for I3 C and DIM were 15 ng/m L and 25 ng/m L, respectively. Calibration curves for I3 C and DIM were linear(r2>0.99) over a concentration range of 0.025–20 μg/m L. Precision, accuracy, and stability analysis fulfilled the CDER guidelines criteria. the method was successfully applied to the determination of the pharmacokinetic parameters of I3 C or DIM after oral, intravenous, or intraperitoneal administration to Sprague Dawley rats. the method described here is superior over exist.ng analytical methods for I3 C and its metabolites in terms of sensitivity, speed, and separation.
