Background:Given that seizures may be triggered by vaccination,this study aimed to evaluate the risk and correlative factors of seizures in patients with epilepsy(PWE)after being vaccinated against coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).Methods:This study retrospectively enrolled PWE who were vaccinated against COVID-19 in the epilepsy centers of 11 hospitals in China.We divided the PWE into two groups as follows:(1)patients who developed seizures within 14 days of vaccination were assigned to the SAV(with seizures after vaccination)group;(2)patients who were seizure-free within 14 days of vaccination were assigned to the SFAV(seizure-free after vaccination)group.To identify potential risk factors for seizure reccurence,the binary logistic regression analysis was performed.Besides,67 PWE who had not been vaccinated were also included for elucidating the effects of vaccination on seizures recurrence,and binary logistic regression analysis was performed to determine whether vaccination would affect the recurrence rate of PWE who had drug reduction or withdrawal.Results:The study included a total of 407 patients;of which,48(11.8%)developed seizures within 14 days after vaccination(SAV group),whereas 359(88.2%)remained seizure-free(SFAV group).The binary logistic regression analysis revealed that duration of seizure freedom(P<0.001)and withdrawal from anti-seizure medications(ASMs)or reduction in their dosage during the peri-vaccination period were significantly associated with the recurrence of seizures(odds ratio=7.384,95%confidence interval=1.732–31.488,P=0.007).In addition,32 of 33 patients(97.0%)who were seizure-free for more than three months before vaccination and had a normal electroencephalogram before vaccination did not have any seizures within 14 days of vaccination.A total of 92(22.6%)patients experienced non-epileptic adverse reactions after vaccination.Binary logistic regression analysis results showed that vaccine did not significantly affect the recurrence rate of PWE who had the behavior of ASMs dose re

长期连作会引起连作障碍,造成土壤有效养分降低、土壤酶活性下降、土壤微生物多样性受破坏,导致连作病害加剧及作物减产甚至绝收。近年来,针对连作障碍的土壤改良措施研究成为热点,已逐步形成农业、理化和生物改良技术,在实际应用中取得较好的效果。文章通过整理查阅文献,总结了土壤改良种植制度的优化、土壤改良剂的选择、抗病品种选育的应用、土壤熏蒸消毒改良以及拮抗菌应用等生物防治措施,对作物连作障碍发病机理和防治措施相关研究中的问题进行了展望,以期为农业生产提供理论基础。

Square Planar Nickel（II） Complexes with Halogenated o-Diiminobenzosemiquinonato Ligation： Synthesis, Characterization, and Redox Property

Seven square planar bis（o-diiminobenzosemiquinonato）nickel（II） complexes, [Ni（o-C6H4（NH）（NAr））2] （Ar= Mes, 1; p-F-C6H4, 2; p-CI-C6H4, 3）, [Ni（o-4,5-F2-C6H2（NH）（NPh））2] （4）, and [Ni（o-4,5-CIz-C6H2（NH）（NAr））2] （Ar =Ph, 5; 2,6-F2-C6H3, 6; 2,6-C12-C6H3, 7）, have been synthesized and characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, 19F NMR, IR, UV-Vis-NIR, elemental analyses, HRMS, as well as single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies （1 and 7）. The cyclic voltammograms of these complexes exhibit two reversible redox processes of [NiLe]0n- and [NIL2]l /2 , and one irreversible process of [NiL2]~n＋. Substituent effects on the redox properties of these complexes, in addi- tion with those of the known complexes [Ni（o-C6Ha（NH）（NPh））2] （8） and [Ni（o-3,5-Butz-C6Hz（NH）2）2] （9）, are identified by comparing the half-wave potentials of the reduction waves, as 1 ~ 9 〈 8 ~ 2 〈 3 〈 4 〈 5 〈 7 〈 6, reflect- ing the ease of reduction of [NIL2] parallels the electron-donating and -withdrawing ability of the substituent group. Reduction of 1 with one or two equivalents of sodium metal in THF has led to the isolation of [Na（THF）3][I] and [Na（THF）3]2[1]. The structure data of these two complexes revealed by low-temperature X-ray crystallography suggest their corresponding electronic structures of [Nill（lL-1 ）（IL2-）]1- and [Ni1]（1L2 ）212-, which are in line with those of [9]n （n = 1-, 2-） suggested by spectroelectrochemical study.

CD59 Silencing via Retrovirus-Mediated RNA Interference Enhanced Complement-Mediated Cell Damage in Ovary Cancer

CD59, belonging to membrane complement regulatory proteins （mCRPs）, inhibits the cytolytic activity of complement and is over-expressed in solid cancers, including ovary cancer. The aim of the present study was to construct recombinant retrovirus encoding shRNA targeted human CD59 and infect A2780 cells in order to investigate the relationship between decreased CD59 expression and tumorigenesis of ovary cancer, siCD59 and siCD59-C were successfully constructed and identified by PCR, restriction endonuclease analyses and DNA sequencing, respectively. The siCD59 was able to efficiently infect A2780 cells, which was confirmed by Western blotting. When incubated with fresh normal human serum （8%, v/v） for 1 h at 37℃, the cell viability was decreased and cell damage was increased in siCD59 infected A2780 cells compared to siCD59-C infected cells. This led to the activation of caspase-3. The apoptosis in siCD59 infected cells was shown with hypercondensed nuclei using Hoechst staining. Meanwhile, the weight of ovary tumor graft in nude mice was significantly decreased in siCD59 group compared to that of siCD59-C group. And the expression of CD59 protein in tumor tissue in siCD59 group was significantly decreased. These results suggested that CD59 silencing in ovary cancer cells v/a retrovirusmediated RNAi can enhance complement-mediated cell damage, inhibiting growth of ovary cancer. Photosynthesis and biochemical responses to elevated O_3 in Plantago major and Sonchus oleraceus growing in a lowland habitat of northern China

A field experiment was carried out to compare the responses to ozone （03） in two common herbaceous plant species, Plantago major L. and Sonchus oleraceus L., by building open-top growth chambers in situ to simulate 03 stress （＋03, 85 ± 5 ppb, 9 hr/day for 30 days） in a lowland habitat in Inner Mongolia, Northern China. Responses to 03 of gas exchange, chlorophyll a fluorescence, leaf pigment content, andoxidant capability, soluble protein content, membrane lipid peroxidation and dark respiration （Rd） were analyzed. Results showed that elevated 03 exposure significantly reduced the light-saturated net photosyn- thesis （PNsat）, stomata] conductance （gs） and transpiration rate （E） in both species. Although non-significant interactive effect between species and 0s on PNsat was analyzed, the reduction in PNsat in S. oleraceus might be due primarily to the higher fraction of close PSII reaction centers and impaired activities of plant mesophyll cells as evidences by decreased maximum efficiency of PSII photochemistry after dark adapted state （Fv/Fm） and unchanged intercellular CO2 concentration （Ci）. Besides, biochemical analysis showed that S. oleraceus had lower antioxidant ability compared to P. major. As a result, S. oleraceus was damaged to the larger extent in terms of lipid peroxidation and visible O3 injury, indicating that S. oleraceus was more sensitive to O3 than P. major. Our results indicated that wild herbaceous plant species growing in a lowland habitat in sandy grassland were sensitive to O3 stress and S. oleraceus can be considered as one of the bio-indicators for high O3 concentration in semi-arid -rassland of northern China.

In this study,we identified that a conserved circular RNA(circRNA)DICAR,which was downregulated in diabetic mouse hearts.DICAR had an inhibitory effect on diabetic cardiomyopathy(DCM),as the spontaneous cardiac dysfunction,cardiac cell hypertrophy,and cardiac fibrosis occurred in DICAR deficiency(DICAR+/−)mice,whereas the DCM was alleviated in DICARoverexpressed DICARTg mice.At the cellular level,we found that overexpression of DICAR inhibited,but knockdown of DICAR enhanced the diabetic cardiomyocyte pyroptosis.At the molecular level,we identified that DICAR-VCP-Med12 degradation could be the underlying molecular mechanism in DICAR-mediated effects.The synthesized DICAR junction part(DICAR-JP)exhibited a similar effect to the entire DICAR.In addition,the expression of DICAR in circulating blood cells and plasma from diabetic patients was lower than that from health controls,which was consistent with the decreased DICAR expression in diabetic hearts.DICAR and the synthesized DICAR-JP may be drug candidates for DCM.

Crystal structure and Rietveld refinement of the new ternary compound Al_(14)Nd_5Si

The new ternary compound Al14NdsSi has been studied by means of the X-ray powder diffraction technique and the Rietveld method. The ternary compound Al14Nd5Si has a hexagonal Ni3Sn-type structure with space group P63/mmc （No.194）, the lattice parameters are a = 0.64470 （2） nm and c = 0.45926 （1） nm. The Smith and Snyder figure of merit for the index, FN, is F30 = 97.8 （30）. The X-ray diffraction data indicated that the crystal structure of the compound Al14Nd5Si has been successfully refined by the Rietveld method. The R-factors of Rietveld refinement are Rp = 0.088 and Rwp = 0.120, respectively. The thermal dependence of magnetization for the compound was measured by a vibrating sample magnetometer. The experimentally determined magnetic effective paramagnetic moment is μeff= 3.60 μB per Nd atom. The paramagnetic Currie temperature θp = -33.7 K was also obtained from the Currie-Weiss law.

Serine metabolism orchestrates macrophage polarization by regulating the IGF1–p38 axis

Serine metabolism is reportedly involved in immune cell functions, but whether and how serine metabolism regulates macrophage polarization remain largely unknown. Here, we show that suppressing serine metabolism, either by inhibiting the activity of the key enzyme phosphoglycerate dehydrogenase in the serine biosynthesis pathway or by exogenous serine and glycine restriction, robustly enhances the polarization of interferon-γ-activated macrophages (M(IFN-γ)) but suppresses that of interleukin-4-activated macrophages (M(IL-4)) both in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, serine metabolism deficiency increases the expression of IGF1 by reducing the promoter abundance of S-adenosyl methionine-dependent histone H3 lysine 27 trimethylation. IGF1 then activates the p38-dependent JAK–STAT1 axis to promote M(IFN-γ) polarization and suppress STAT6-mediated M(IL-4) activation. This study reveals a new mechanism by which serine metabolism orchestrates macrophage polarization and suggests the manipulation of serine metabolism as a therapeutic strategy for macrophage-mediated immune diseases.
