Linkage of mineral inclusions and zoning of magnetite with fluid evolution of hydrothermal systems: A case study of the Fenghuangshan Cu-Fe-Au skarn deposit， Eastern China

Magnetite from hydrothermal deposits may show compositional zoning with various mineral inclusions in response to the evolution of hydrothermal fluids. Magnetite from the Fenghuangshan Cu-Fe-Au skarn deposit (Eastern China) is a common mineral formed in the earlier stage of skarnization. Magnetite grains have dark gray and light gray zones and contain diverse mineral inclusions. Dark gray zones have higher Si， Ca， Al， and Mg contents than light gray zones. The magnetite matrix from dark gray zones shows superstructure along the [0-11] zone axis in fast Fourier transform patterns， different from magnetite from light gray zones with normal structure. Three types of mineral inclusions are identified within magnetite: nano-， micron- and submicron-nanometer inclusions. Nanoinclusions hosted in dark gray zones are actinolite， diopside， and trace element-rich magnetite， and these are likely formed by growth entrapment during magnetite crystallization at the skarn stage. The chain-width order-disorder intergrowths of diopside nanoinclusion likely indicate fluctuating fluid compositions in a lattice scale. Submicron to nanometer inclusions at the boundary between dark gray and light gray zones are quartz， titanite， and Ti-rich magnetite， which were formed via a dissolution and reprecipitation process at the quartz-sulfide stage. Micron-inclusions randomly distributed in both dark and light gray zones include calcite， ankerite， quartz， and chlorite， and these were formed via penetration of fluids at the carbonate stage. Zoned magnetite was formed by fluid replacement， overgrowth， and fluid infilling. Our study highlights the importance of mineral inclusion assemblages， and textural and chemical zonation of magnetite in constraining fluid evolution.

Cell-free RNA(cf RNA) allows assessment of health, status, and phenotype of a variety of human organs and is a potential biomarker to non-invasively diagnose numerous diseases. Nevertheless, there is a lack of highly efficient and bias-free cf RNA isolation technologies due to the low abundance and instability of cf ***, we developed a reproducible and high-efficiency isolation technology for different types of cell-free nucleic acids(containing cf RNA and viral RNA) in serum/plasma based on the inclusion of nucleic acids by metal-organic framework(MOF) materials, which greatly improved the isolation efficiency and was able to preserve RNA integrity compared with the most widely used research kit method. Importantly, the quality of cf RNA extracted by the MOF method is about 10-fold that of the kit method, and the MOF method isolates more than three times as many different RNA types as the kit method. The whole transcriptome mapping characteristics of cf RNA in serum from patients with liver cancer was described and a cf RNA signature with six cf RNAs was identified to diagnose liver cancer with high diagnostic efficiency(area under curve = 0.905 in the independent validation cohort) using this MOF method. Thus, this new MOF isolation technique will advance the field of liquid biopsy, with the potential to diagnose liver cancer.

Optical time-stretch(OTS)imaging flow cytometry offers a promising solution for high-throughput and highprecision cell analysis due to its capabilities of high-speed,high-quality,and continuous *** sensing(CS)makes it practically applicable by significantly reducing the data volume while maintaining its highspeed and high-quality imaging *** enrich the information of the images acquired with CS-equipped OTS imaging flow cytometry,in this work we propose and experimentally demonstrate Fourier-domaincompressed OTS quantitative phase imaging flow *** is capable of acquiring intensity and quantitative phase images of cells simultaneously from the compressed *** evaluate the performance of our method,static microparticles and a corn root cross section are experimentally measured under various compression ***,to show how our method can be applied in practice,we utilize it in the drug response analysis of breast cancer *** results show that our method can acquire high-quality intensity and quantitative phase images of flowing cells at a flowing speed of 1 m/s and a compression ratio of 30%.Combined with machine-learning-based image analysis,it can distinguish drug-treated and drug-untreated cells with an accuracy of over 95%.We believe our method can facilitate cell analysis in both scientific research and clinical settings where both high-throughput and high-content cell analysis is required.

The BL07U beamline is a new extreme ultraviolet and soft X-ray beamline housed in the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility. Beamlines are used in nano-resolved angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy(nano-ARPES), spin-resolved angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy(spin-ARPES), X-ray magnetic circular dichroism spectroscopy, and X-ray magnetic linear dichroism spectroscopy for certain scientific research. The BL07U beamline, which is based on a pair of elliptical polarized undulators and a variable-included-angle plane-grating monochromator, delivers circularly or linear polarized X-rays within the energy range of 50–2000 eV. The beamline features two branches: One dedicated to nano-ARPES,which has a minimum spot size of only ~ 200 nm, and another branch comprising spin-ARPES, a vector magnetic field, and superconductive magnetic end-station.

Evaluation of retinal and choroidal thickness changes in overweight and obese adults without ocular symptoms by swept-source optical coherence tomography

AIM:To evaluate the relationship of overweight and obesity with retinal and choroidal thickness in adults without ocular symptoms by swept-source optical coherence tomography(SS-OCT).METHODS:According to the body mass index(BMI)results,the adults enrolled in the cross-sectional study were divided into the normal group(18.50≤BMI<25.00 kg/m^(2)),the overweight group(25.00≤BMI<30.00 kg/m^(2)),and the obesity group(BMI≥30.00 kg/m^(2)).The one-way ANOVA and the Chi-square test were used for ***’s correlation analysis was used to evaluate the relationships between the measured ***:This research covered the left eyes of 3 groups of 434 age-and sex-matched subjects each:normal,overweight,and *** mean BMI was 22.20±1.67,26.82±1.38,and 32.21±2.35 kg/m^(2) in normal,overweight and obesity groups,*** choroid was significantly thinner in both the overweight and obesity groups compared to the normal group(P<0.05 for all),while the retinal thickness of the three groups did not differ ***’s correlation analysis showed that BMI was significantly negatively correlated with choroidal thickness,but no significant correlation was observed between BMI and retinal ***:Choroidal thickness is decreased in people with overweight or *** on changes in choroidal thickness contributes to the understanding of the mechanisms of certain ocular disorders in overweight and obese adults.

From common biomass materials to high-performance tissue engineering scaffold: Biomimetic preparation, properties characterization, in vitro and in vivo evaluations

Converting common biomass materials to high-performance biomedical products could not only reduce the environmental pressure associated with the large-scale use of synthetic materials,but also increase the economic *** as a very promising candidate has drawn considerable attention owing to its abundant sources and remarkable ***,pure chitosan materials usually exhibit insufficient mechanical properties and excessive swelling ratio,which seriously affected their in vivo stability and integrity when applied as tissue engineering ***,simultaneously improving the mechanical strength and biological compatibility of pure chitosan(CS)scaffolds becomes very ***,inspired by the fiber-reinforced con-struction of natural extracellular matrix and the porous structure of cancellous bone,we built silk microfibers/chitosan composite scaffolds via ice-templating *** biomimetic strategy achieved 500%of mechanical improvement to pure chitosan,and meanwhile still maintaining high porosity(>87%).In addition,the increased roughness of chitosan pore walls by embedded silk microfibers significantly promoted cell adhesion and *** importantly,after subcutaneous implantation in mice for four weeks,the composite scaffold showed greater struc-tural integrity,as well as better collagenation,angiogenesis,and osteogenesis abilities,suggesting its great potential in biomedicine.

Variations in the dynein axonemal heavy chain gene,dynein axonemal heavy chain 6(DNAH6),lead to multiple morphological abnormalities of the *** studies have reported that these deficiencies may result in sperm head ***,whether DNAH6 is also involved in human acrosome biogenesis remains *** purpose of this study was to investigate DNAH6 gene variants and their potential functions in the formation of defective sperm heads and ***-exome sequencing was performed on a cohort of 375 patients with asthenoteratozoospermia from the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University(Hefei,China).Hematoxylin and eosin staining,scanning electron microscopy,and transmission electron microscopy were performed to analyze the sperm morphology and *** staining and Western blot analysis were conducted to examine the effects of genetic *** identified three novel deleterious variants in DNAH6 among three unrelated *** absence of inner dynein arms and radial spokes was observed in the sperm of patients with DNAH6 ***,deficiencies in the acrosome,abnormal chromatin compaction,and vacuole-containing sperm heads were observed in these patients with DNAH6 *** decreased levels of the component proteins in these defective structures were further confirmed in sperm from patients with DNAH6 variants using Western *** intracytoplasmic sperm injection(ICSl)treatment,the partner of one patient with a DNAH6 variant achieved successful ***,novel variants in DNAH6 genes that contribute to defects in the sperm head and flagella were identified,and the findings indicated Icsl as an effective clinical treatment for such patients.

针对属性权重未知,且考虑决策成员风险态度和属性关联关系的多属性决策问题,构建一种基于非加性最优最劣方法(BWM)的群体共识模型.首先,为处理不确定环境中的属性关联问题,提出区间值非加性BWM方法,该方法采用区间值刻画专家关于属性重要性的成对比较结果,以获取个体偏好下的属性重要性指数(权重),扩展了Shapley值的表示形式;其次,通过构建非加性BWM共识模型将个体偏好下的属性重要性指数转化为群体共识的属性重要性指数,在共识达成的过程中,利用隶属度函数度量决策成员的风险态度效用水平,并在一定预算限制下,探索决策成员的风险态度对群体共识的属性重要性指数及共识效用水平的影响;最后,通过案例分析验证模型的可行性和有效性.

Synthetic high-density lipoprotein(sHDL):a bioinspired nanotherapeutics for managing periapical bone inflammation

Apical periodontitis(AP)is a dental-driven condition caused by pathogens and their toxins infecting the inner portion of the tooth(i.e.,dental pulp tissue),resulting in inflammation and apical bone resorption affecting 50%of the worldwide population,with more than 15 million root canals performed annually in the United *** treatment involves cleaning and decontaminating the infected tissue with chemo-mechanical approaches and materials introduced years ago,such as calcium hydroxide,zinc oxide–eugenol,or even formalin ***,we present,for the first time,a nanotherapeutics based on using synthetic highdensity lipoprotein(sHDL)as an innovative and safe strategy to manage dental bone *** application in concentrations ranging from 25μg to 100μg/mL decreases nuclear factor Kappa B(NF-κB)activation promoted by an inflammatory stimulus(lipopolysaccharide,LPS).Moreover,sHDL at 500μg/mL concentration markedly decreases in vitro osteoclastogenesis(P<0.001),and inhibits IL-1α(P=0.027),TNF-α(P=0.004),and IL-6(P<0.001)production in an inflammatory ***,sHDL strongly dampens the Toll-Like Receptor signaling pathway facing LPS stimulation,mainly by downregulating at least 3-fold the pro-inflammatory genes,such as Il1b,Il1a,Il6,Ptgs2,and *** vivo,the lipoprotein nanoparticle applied after NaOCl reduced bone resorption volume to(1.3±0.05)mm^(3) and attenuated the inflammatory reaction after treatment to(1090±184)cells compared to non-treated animals that had(2.9±0.6)mm^(3)(P=0.0123)and(2443±931)cells(P=0.004),thus highlighting its promising clinical potential as an alternative therapeutic for managing dental bone inflammation.

Is a direct numerical simulation(DNS)of Navier-Stokes equations with small enough grid spacing and time-step definitely reliable/correct?

Turbulence is strongly associated with the vast majority of fluid flows in nature and ***,results given by the direct numerical simulation(DNS)of Navier-Stokes(NS)equations that relate to a famous millennium problem are widely regarded as‘reliable’benchmark solutions of turbulence,as long as grid spacing is fine enough(*** than the minimum Kolmogorov scale)and time-step is small enough,say,satisfying the Courant-Friedrichs-Lewy condition(Courant number<1).Is this really true?In this paper a two-dimensional sustained turbulent Kolmogorov flow driven by an external body force governed by the NS equations under an initial condition with a spatial symmetry is investigated numerically by the two numerical methods with detailed comparisons:one is the traditional DNS,the other is the‘clean numerical simulation’(CNS).In theory,the exact solution must have a kind of spatial symmetry since its initial condition is spatially ***,it is found that numerical noises of the DNS are quickly enlarged to the same level as the‘true’physical solution,which finally destroy the spatial symmetry of the flow *** other words,the DNS results of the turbulent Kolmogorov flow governed by the NS equations are badly polluted *** the contrary,the numerical noise of the CNS is much smaller than the‘true’physical solution of turbulence in a long enough interval of time so that the CNS result is very close to the‘true’physical solution and thus can remain symmetric,which can be used as a benchmark solution for ***,it is found that numerical noise as a kind of artificial tiny disturbances can lead to huge deviations at large scale on the two-dimensional Kolmogorov turbulence governed by the NS equations,not only quantitatively(even in statistics)but also qualitatively(such as spatial symmetry of flow).This highly suggests that fine enough spatial grid spacing with small enough time-step alone could not guarantee the validity of the DNS of
